Transcript, provided by UGA, of comments from coaches and players after Georgia’s 45-7 victory over Auburn:
GEORGIA
Coach Mark Richt:
“We just played great. I’m trying to think of another game where we played this well in a situation that was so important to us. We knew South Carolina won its game, so we had to win. We played a top-25 team, a very good football team, and we played solid. I am as proud as I can be of our coaches and players. It’s a great night to be a Georgia Bulldog. … We had tremendous execution. I know we haven’t done that for an entire game like we did tonight.”
“We finished well. We had a lot of first downs when we decided to run the ball and chew up the clock. First downs like that are a tribute to the offensive line, but it also takes the fullbacks and the tight ends, everybody. To have two guys go over 100 yards is a tribute to everyone.”
“I thought the most impressive play of the game was when Quintavious Harrow had that knock-’em-back, get-everybody-in-the-stadium-excited tackle. That ignited our football team.”
“Our fans had a lot to do with our success definitely. They created so much noise. When you see a quarterback walk to every player on the team, you know it’s loud. It slows them down, and it creates a little confusion for them.”
“(After this season’s 0-2 start), I was really hoping we’d continue to improve as the season rolled along. The guys are gaining more confidence and they’re playing hard and they’re playing smart. … After each snap, we want our guys to play hard and play physical. We want each guy to win his 1-on-1 battle. We challenged each guy to win down after down.”
Quarterback Aaron Murray:
“It’s a great win for us. We got off to an 0-2 start, and sometimes the offense was playing great and sometimes the defense was playing great. It seems like it all kind of just clicked for everyone today.”
“All three facets of the game played great. The defense was making it impossible for them, special teams played great and the offense was clicking. It all starts with the offensive line giving me time and opening up huge holes.”
Tailback Carlton Thomas:
“We’ve been working hard. All the coaches and players have been behind each other, and it’s an awesome feeling to come out and do what we did. Everyone was playing tough.”
“Obviously, I got a lot of carries and I was just trying to make them the best carries of my life and make the best of the opportunity.”
“We’ve got great depth and it’s all starting to show late in the season. We’ve just got to keep working. I’m really excited to see where we’ll end up in January.”
Safety Bacarri Rambo:
(On his interception return for a touchdown:) “I saw Abry (Jones) waving for me to come that way, so I did, and those guys just helped me into the end zone. We played great today. It’s a great day to be a Bulldog.”
Linebacker Alec Ogletree:
“Offense, defense, special teams, everyone played great today and it showed. We wanted to come out and play a full game together and that’s what we did. We just worked hard all week and it paid off today in the game.”
AUBURN
Coach Gene Chizik:
“There isn’t a whole lot I can tell you that you didn’t see. It was a disappointing loss for us. We got beat at every phase of the game tonight. We didn’t cover many people all night, couldn’t stop the run and turned the ball over. That’s why we got beat 45-7.”
“Georgia made some good plays and is a very talented team. With the exception of the first drive, they flat out stopped our offense. We couldn’t get some of the perimeter pass game under control. It was pretty evident what we couldn’t do.”
“Hopefully we can fix some of the things that happened. Week in and week out, we look at what the defense gives us and design our game from there. Georgia is tough to defend. Murray threw tonight with great accuracy, which he has been doing all year. We just didn’t do a good job defending the perimeter pass.”
“We’re playing with guys who have the most experience for the last 10 weeks. Tonight, the outward appearance was that we got physically dominated on both sides of the ball. Maybe when we watch film, we will find something different.”
Quarterback Clint Moseley:
“I really can’t put a finger on it. I messed up too much, and this was a big team loss. They got too many yards, and we didn’t get any. It was bad.”
(Comparing LSU and UGA): “Both teams know how to play defense. I don’t want to cause anything by making a prediction, but it will be a great game.”
“I really thought this was the best week of practice that we’ve had all season. We are a young team but that doesn’t make it any better.”
Wide receiver Emory Blake:
“Next week we need to go back to work, watch film and fix our mistakes.”
“I’m a little shocked. I thought we were prepared. We made too many mistakes. They are a good team, but we played poorly.”
Linebacker Corey Lemonier:
“They had a good game plan and came out and executed, and we missed out assignments. They dominated us. We’ll come back next week and try to prove something.”

I have to admit I thought Vegas had lost its collective mind when the line was first set at 12.5 . I thought it would be a low scoring war…glad I don’t bet often. Great game great effort by the players and great game plan on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and the special teams play was much better CMR and his coaches deserve a TON of credit…now lets skin some Cats and take the SEC East ! Go Dogs !

The BCS guys may be shaking in their boots soon……..
What if Oklahoma beets Oklahoma st………..
LSU has already beat bama and Oregon……( should any of those be a rematch?)
a lot of one loss teams will be screaming if that goes down!
Or if Arkansas beats lsu or UGA in the dome….
My personal opinion if you can’t win your confrense you should not play for the NC!

Isn’t that what they told us in 2007? we didn’t win the sec so we didn’t deserve a shot at the nc. So why in the hell does Alabama? They got beat in their own stadium, to be honest I believe they would get murdered by a Oklahoma or Oklahoma State.

DAWG tired,
I believe these young kids at the skill positions are still in the learning mode but they are on a steep curve and have done great. Considering the team that we should have next year, if we can get a couple more big uglies for the OL, I think the DAWGS will have returned. To get these kids to the point where they are now, takes coaching. Even Bobo did a very good job yesterday. Auburn didn’t have an answer for either the defense or the offense. Hard to believe that S.C. lost to them. The win by UGA yesterday, must have caused “Old Stevie Boy Wonder Spurrier” heart problems. His challenge about, UGA proving they can win a must game, must have made him look like the fool he is, even to his own fan base and they are obsessed about UGA already. Wait till next year when UGA smashes them in their own home.

Fellow Dawgs it is obvious this team has made tremendous strides this year, Auburn had two weeks to prepare and really had no answers for our Dawgs yesterday. That hit by Harrow is indicative to the confidence and intensity which this team is playing with now. We just have to take care of business one game at a time. This goes directly to the improvement on the offensive and defensive lines and being able to win the battle in the trenches. This is a pretty good football team right and getting better.

Amazing video of a high school player from Columbia TN who kicks the ball dead straight 80-85 yards in the air. He was successful on 54 of 54 attempts this season….100%. Now he needs a college team.
Watch for yourself…it is unreal!

(assuming we win over Kentucky) What is going to happen is this:
Richt is going to get a 5-year extension on his contract after this season. Then he will assume all is A-OK and will go back to his mediocre coaching and we will have another string of mediocre seasons (especially when we don’t have an easy schedule). Our season this year has been because of desperation over Richt losing his job.

So Old Dog, please help me understand your logic. When we lose, its Richt’s fault and he should be fired, but when we win, all credit belongs to the players and none to Richt ? Brilliant. I guess he gets no credit for hiring Grantham, whose defensive strategy ( executed by the Great players HE recruited) held the #2 rusihing offense in the SEC to 51 yards ? No credit for ignoring idiots like you who probably wanted Hutson Mason to start over Murray, who is BREAKING RECORDS ? Go back into your dog house. OLD DOG !

No more than all the people who excuse CMR for the last three years saying it is all the players’ fault. Who kept Willie Martinez around forever? I guess Bobo is the greatest OC in the league, that is why CMR keeps him? Who decides we don’t need a Special Teams Coach and we can use whomever on Special Teams until it nearly kills us?
Who decides to throw a pass in overtime when we just need to kick a field goal to stay in the game (with the best fiel goal kicker in the country back then)? I am still waiting for the answer to that question.
Where was Coach Mark Richt the past three years as our program went from bad to worse? Did he forget how to coach? Or was he just too complacent, knowing Georgia was not going to get rid of him with years left on his contract that would have to be bought out?

they were doing uga a favor by putting them up against hawaii…uga’s history of choking on the big stage and lack of national respect allowed you to play in the sugar against an obviously undermanned hawaii squad…remember the west virginia fiasco…yeah, yeah..i know you came back and almost won…almost being the key word…

Nothing can please you Old Dog. Yes, the last two seasons were awful. Teams have cycles, but good coaches prove their worth over time. Richt has done that, averaging between 9-10 wins over 11 years. Going to the SEC championship for the 4th time in those 11 years. His record compares very favorably to Dooley’s. You probably wanted Dooley fired after the ‘79 season, when we went 5 and lost 31-0 to UVA on homecoming. Would we have won so dominantly the following season without Dooley ? Take your glass half-full attitude somewhere else. The slogan ” Firings will continue until morale improves ” describes your attitude perfectly, sir. By the way, how has Tennessee done since firning Fulmer ? That was a great move , wasn’t it ?

Fulmer was exposed when Cutcliff left him both times

Hey Flat Tire, your INFLATED opinion of yourself causes you to believe you know everything about coaching, personnel moves, etc. Did Richt “allow” Van Gorder to leave, or was UGA unwilling to pay him what the Falcons were offering ? Or did Van Gorder just want to move up to the NFL ? You don’t know, so don’t pretend you do.

VanGorder left because he was tired of Slick Willie and Richt not doing anything about it.
Go back and watch some of those games you will see them arguing
I dont pretend to know everything about coaching but I can assure you Richt finds a way to lose 2 games a year that he shouldnt lose too and by the way where has this team been the last 5 years that we saw yesterday

Well i am proud of our team here . It is my feeling that Grantham deserves a raise as the man knows how to coach defense and with the young team we have the sky is the limit for the upcoming years. I would have to say all the coaches are doing a fine job coaching up to say the least. I also like have to point out that coach Lakatos knows what he is doing well and i am glad we got him on our staff.
Also think about the recruiting sector as well. The way this team has been playing will open up a lot of opportunities for being able to get top notch recruits. We all know recruits have been watching this team that have verbally committed as well as those that have been contacted about playing for Georgia. I am so proud of the way the freshmen we have this year playing like they are.
I would say more but a lot of you have already spoken what if anything could be said. I know you all remember the saying from that movie of which i forgot the name of “If you build it , they will come.”
Well it certainly looks like to me that a fine football team is being built and coming of age and the fans and the victories will come. I see us getting a NC within the next year or two. Just a gut feeling of mine and i am usually right in my gut feelings there.
The way this team has rebounded from the first 2 losses is a good learning experiance for any of us out there in this game of life we all live in fact that when the chips are down in our lives all we have to do is keep praying and working hard and never giving up and God and life in general will improve.

Did I ever say Gratham wasnt any good. Nope
Gratham has shown once again that a good coach with our talent can do great things
Bobo showed yesterday what our offense can do if he starts calling better plays
Thats been my problem. Where has Bobo been and why has Richt allowed it to happen
And as for pay raises; Richt could have easily gotten Van Gorder a pay raise but did not
Whose fault was that

Do some research bud
Show me where I have said Fire Mark Richt
Please show me
The only time I have ever said Richt should go if he lost to FL again this year
My complaint is the lack of discipline, losing games like Boise St, West Virginia, 2 bad Tennessee teams, and losing 2 games each year to teams you shouldnt lose to because of lack of preparation and poor play calling
Oh and by the way who is knocking down UGA’s door to hire Bobo? That should tell you something
This is the problem with you people you dont read what people say

I gave Bobo credit for a good called game yesterday.
But my complaint is where has this playcalling been. Gratham has been consistant Bobo hasnt and dont tell me he has.
Again Im excited about Gratham as our D coach; as for Bobo its a wait and see
But give me a break bud. I know what talent UGA has and what their potential is and Gratham has shown what UGA can be with good coaching
Why cant we have consistancy for once instead of seasons like 2005, 2007 2008 and this year where had we been prepared and called better games we would be in the talk for playing for a national title

sit and think about this one
Under the Mark Richt era
UGA has put more players in the NFL than any other team in the SEC
UGA has ranked 2nd behind USC Trojans in recruiting during Richts tenure
UGA hasnt even sniffed the national title
LSU 2, FL 2, AL, 1, TN 1, AUB 1 UGA 00000000000
Now sit on that stat
