Transcript, provided by UGA, of comments from coaches and players after Georgia’s 45-7 victory over Auburn:
GEORGIA
Coach Mark Richt:
“We just played great. I’m trying to think of another game where we played this well in a situation that was so important to us. We knew South Carolina won its game, so we had to win. We played a top-25 team, a very good football team, and we played solid. I am as proud as I can be of our coaches and players. It’s a great night to be a Georgia Bulldog. … We had tremendous execution. I know we haven’t done that for an entire game like we did tonight.”
“We finished well. We had a lot of first downs when we decided to run the ball and chew up the clock. First downs like that are a tribute to the offensive line, but it also takes the fullbacks and the tight ends, everybody. To have two guys go over 100 yards is a tribute to everyone.”
“I thought the most impressive play of the game was when Quintavious Harrow had that knock-’em-back, get-everybody-in-the-stadium-excited tackle. That ignited our football team.”
“Our fans had a lot to do with our success definitely. They created so much noise. When you see a quarterback walk to every player on the team, you know it’s loud. It slows them down, and it creates a little confusion for them.”
“(After this season’s 0-2 start), I was really hoping we’d continue to improve as the season rolled along. The guys are gaining more confidence and they’re playing hard and they’re playing smart. … After each snap, we want our guys to play hard and play physical. We want each guy to win his 1-on-1 battle. We challenged each guy to win down after down.”
Quarterback Aaron Murray:
“It’s a great win for us. We got off to an 0-2 start, and sometimes the offense was playing great and sometimes the defense was playing great. It seems like it all kind of just clicked for everyone today.”
“All three facets of the game played great. The defense was making it impossible for them, special teams played great and the offense was clicking. It all starts with the offensive line giving me time and opening up huge holes.”
Tailback Carlton Thomas:
“We’ve been working hard. All the coaches and players have been behind each other, and it’s an awesome feeling to come out and do what we did. Everyone was playing tough.”
“Obviously, I got a lot of carries and I was just trying to make them the best carries of my life and make the best of the opportunity.”
“We’ve got great depth and it’s all starting to show late in the season. We’ve just got to keep working. I’m really excited to see where we’ll end up in January.”
Safety Bacarri Rambo:
(On his interception return for a touchdown:) “I saw Abry (Jones) waving for me to come that way, so I did, and those guys just helped me into the end zone. We played great today. It’s a great day to be a Bulldog.”
Linebacker Alec Ogletree:
“Offense, defense, special teams, everyone played great today and it showed. We wanted to come out and play a full game together and that’s what we did. We just worked hard all week and it paid off today in the game.”
AUBURN
Coach Gene Chizik:
“There isn’t a whole lot I can tell you that you didn’t see. It was a disappointing loss for us. We got beat at every phase of the game tonight. We didn’t cover many people all night, couldn’t stop the run and turned the ball over. That’s why we got beat 45-7.”
“Georgia made some good plays and is a very talented team. With the exception of the first drive, they flat out stopped our offense. We couldn’t get some of the perimeter pass game under control. It was pretty evident what we couldn’t do.”
“Hopefully we can fix some of the things that happened. Week in and week out, we look at what the defense gives us and design our game from there. Georgia is tough to defend. Murray threw tonight with great accuracy, which he has been doing all year. We just didn’t do a good job defending the perimeter pass.”
“We’re playing with guys who have the most experience for the last 10 weeks. Tonight, the outward appearance was that we got physically dominated on both sides of the ball. Maybe when we watch film, we will find something different.”
Quarterback Clint Moseley:
“I really can’t put a finger on it. I messed up too much, and this was a big team loss. They got too many yards, and we didn’t get any. It was bad.”
(Comparing LSU and UGA): “Both teams know how to play defense. I don’t want to cause anything by making a prediction, but it will be a great game.”
“I really thought this was the best week of practice that we’ve had all season. We are a young team but that doesn’t make it any better.”
Wide receiver Emory Blake:
“Next week we need to go back to work, watch film and fix our mistakes.”
“I’m a little shocked. I thought we were prepared. We made too many mistakes. They are a good team, but we played poorly.”
Linebacker Corey Lemonier:
“They had a good game plan and came out and executed, and we missed out assignments. They dominated us. We’ll come back next week and try to prove something.”

“his critics may very well end up saving his job”…
Wow, you are incredibly stupid to think that he would pay attention to any loser poser wanna-be dog supporters who criticize him or any of the players. Comments like that or calling Murray a midget like others have in the past show just how much of a loser poser you are.

Where is the tampa gator dude or whatever his name is? He has talked smack on all of these blogs all year long and have yet to see him online after they lost to the dogs. They barely beat Vandy and lost to SC today and looked pitiful, offensively and defensively…I guess all the b.s about having pro coaches and having top5 recruiting classes year after year is not working there. hahahahaha

Agree with godawgs92; CMR has definitely made the changes to turn this program around, albeit at a much later time than a lot of insightful people would have liked.
It was a great game and a great day to be a Georgia Bulldog! The way this team is gaining confidence and growing, the SECCG, in my mind, is no longer a sacrificial game for the Eastern division winner. Let the West champion get all the hype, etc. We can play loose and with everything to gain and nothing to lose.
My only wish is not to take the air out of the ball with half of the 3rd quarter remaining. For all those who were there, the last 23 minutes were maddening! As long as the other team has their 1st string in the game and are trying to score, I think we should continue to also try to score. If you want to play the 2nd string offense, I agree totally; but quit playing the clock with the game in hand so early. That’s why the stadium emptied and cannot blame our fans, although I stayed and even listened to the band for 20 minutes after the game. We owed AU what we gave them today and more.
Now, no let downs against UK, and let’s get ready to wreck Tech and have momentum going back to the Dome!
Again, great effort by all the coaches (CMR, CTG, CMB and assistants, and all the players! Enjoy it quick, be safe, be smart, and let’s continue what can be special.
All you ticket holders, let’s order the SECCG and bowl tickets and support this team that has worked so hard to make us proud.
Go Dawgs!!!

@ Larry Ware & all you other Richt lover’s:
I’m not hiding anywhere. What have we done yet? What? Not a thing. A streak against a bunch of lousy teams. We have not beaten a good team this year. For 5 years Richt we have put up with Richt’s inability to win big games. When we consistentyly win BIG games, win SEC and a National Championship, I’ll shut up. We will NEVER win a National Championship with Richt as head coach.
It’s amazing how we beat Auburn 45-7 and now we’re the next Powerhouse National Champion. Ya know, these other fans, who hop on our boards and rip our fans a new one for screaming about how we’re going go undefeated every year after winning a game, are right. You people sound delusional.

Did anyone see the BAGMAN, Trooper Taylor on the field today? Really, Auburn fans, are you proud of him? Or is he necessary as the bagman to get the recruits? Fat, hat on backwards, ready at an instant to incite the dirty play he exacerbated last year. As someone said above me where they would like to put that towel he waves.
Oh, and I guess we are not as sophisticated as the AU fans, Gary Danielson, when you said last year as the reason they cheered when our player was injured. There were a few AU players hurt today and there was NO cheering from the stands, until they were able to get up and walk off the field.
When our players sacked the QB, we didn’t grind our facemask into his chin. We didn’t hit him after the play was over 5-10 seconds. Bagman, it wasn’t your type of game.

@go dawgs…..I really think your world is too simplistic. Agree he has done a helluva job this year. I think your term “haters” includes not only some of the MOST loyal UGA fans who are deeply concerned, but those who support other teams and just come on our blogs to stir the you know what while masquerading as UGA fans.
You cannot paint all criticism with the same brush; surely you are smarter than that. Do you not believe the Athletic Board including Dr T Lawhorn are loyal supporters?

Richt should be tied up for another 3-4 years. Recruiting requires it and he has earned it after keeping everyone focused after the 0-2 start. Say what you want about the streak, but we can only play the teams that are on the schedule. I think Florida took advantage of a weak schedule a few years ago with Tebow and no one cried as much. Get over it, give the DAWGS their due. The only thing you can ask for with coaches is to have the players continue to improve and coach Bobo, Friend and the others deserve their props, big time.

How ’bout that hit by “Cootie” Harrow? I’m glad we offered a scholarship to Harrow’s buddy, Isaiah Crowell, so we could sign the hard hitting DB. Now, if Crowell can learn how to be an SEC tailback, that package deal looks pretty good.
enough crap about the package deals
November 13th, 2011

I think Q.Harrow and Z. Ogletree have earned their scholarships, unlike what happened with Tenn. and DaRick Rogers. That QB has done nothing, while the two package deals that UGA supposedly did are working out right. If someone brings up the WR from GMC, then that his is fault for not studying and he is a legit prospect for a scholarship.

Wow…just, wow. I’m not a Richt fan and get sick when I think of where this team would be with a better staff, but that was about as impressive as I’ve seen us play under him. We looked like we wanted to win. That’s something new. And, while I hate the fact that he may get a long term deal which will mean we will never win a title, I love seeing us play hard and win. There’s a stockpile of young talent here that will only get better. I hope we don’t waste it like we have in the past.

As said before, UGA can only play the teams on our schedule. Boise State beat the Dawgs fair and square. The SC game could have gone either way, and without a few mental errors the Dawgs win that game. They certainly weren’t blown out, and UGA was on the cusp of being a very good team even then. The rest of the schedule was handled, albeit not to the satisfaction of “fans” who expect a blow-out every game. In baseball, bloops and line drives still go down in the scorebook as hits. Wins are wins, despite your bloodthirst for annihilation of the opponent. An 8-2 record doesn’t come with an asterisk because the victories weren’t by 3+ TDs. At the end of the season, hopefully the Dawgs will be 10-2 and heading for the SECCG. No team I can recall had their spot taken because the margin of victory didn’t meet some arbitrary point differential. Sometimes people can’t be satisfied. UGA is dealing with a ton of fans who have that mindset.

It sure was fun watching this game with a 2am start here in India! Finally our team played with some real emotion like when we beat LSU in the SECCG 2005 and in Athens 2004. Did this game remind anyone of the 2006 team that beat top 5 ranked AU 37-15? I feel much better after our dismantling of a very good AU team…..that beat SC and lost to only top 10 teams! Hold on to the ball IC and play more 2nd team when the game is over at the half! They need to contribute and enjoy by being on the field when it is not required because of situations like last week. Where are all the GT UF UA LSU and SC fans now? It will be interesting to see us play UK and hope we stay focused on that game only? 1030pm start in India since 12 noon there in Athens.

“Dave Cutler, sir, We will beat you because our Quarterback Aaron Murray is BETTER than your group of quarterbacks in this game. We have poor special teams, but our special teams, as poorly as they play, are significantly better than your special teams. Our Defense is stout vs the run. You have no Passing game, at all. None. Our Defense is so far superior to what you have you call a “defense.”
_____________________________________________
I love beating Auburn, and what a tackle by Quintavious Harrow. We came in # 14 and after a win over a team who never had any hope of ending this season in the top 25, a total annihilation as Chip Towers put it, we move up more. Boise State lost to the only other team on their schedule. Steve Spurrier tried his best, but Kentucky is a really sorry team. Aaron Murray had a great game. Georgia tek will certainly not be ranked; just as Auburn is not ranked. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we still haven’t beat a team who ends the season in the top 25. Still haven’t beat a team who is finishing top 10, either. Wish away all those issues all you want; act like God gave Mark Richt this victory; and what you are left with is exactly where we have been these 11 years. In the years we did well, we lost to teams who we should have beat and lost to the top teams too. Then, we got a bowl game against a poor opponent and was not a bowl game on the national stage. Can we do something this year ? You look at teams who look like world beaters vs teams who just aren’t good teams, and then you are brought to the reality that I still say Mark Richt is just going to quit. He seems to me to be carrying some heavy burden, even after the game tonight. You tried putting the win over Florida as a great win over a great team – all that stuff. Doesn’t fly does it ? Auburn 2011 ? Please. I love beating Auburn. I thank Aaron Murray, Carlton Thomas, the entire Defense, Todd Grantham, the addition of starters to the Special Teams, and our fans who were loud today. Is it ok with you, if we beat a team who ends up in the top 25 ? If we beat a team who ends up in the top 10 ? This is not the test. I would like to see us have this opportunity we have against LSU. Do I think what we did today gives us momentum vs such a team ? Do I think we will have a great match-up at season’s end in a bowl game on the national stage against a real team finishing the season in the top 10 ? I had every intention of coming in here and writing differently, gentleman; but, I read your comments 1st. Being a loyal true fan does not mean that you can come in here and say I told you so after beating that cruddy crappy football team. Do we have issues ? I didn’t see 1 today. And, I love beating Auburn, which we are only 1 game behind now after 119 years. I would not want to be Georgia tek, who you know watched our game (I didn’t watch their game.) Cannot see how Kentucky is any challenge or warm-up for LSU either. Exciting game. Well done all-around. Statement to those who think Mark Richt is great for another 4 years, so that he can recruit ? He has recruited for 11 years. Hater ? You have each of you posted nothing but crapola about this football coaching staff, its players and fanbase, the whole entire time you have posted to these blogs. Get over yourselves. Not Hardly. Statement Game vs this crudola of a team, this season, Auburn ?
