Transcript, provided by UGA, of comments from coaches and players after Georgia’s 45-7 victory over Auburn:
GEORGIA
Coach Mark Richt:
“We just played great. I’m trying to think of another game where we played this well in a situation that was so important to us. We knew South Carolina won its game, so we had to win. We played a top-25 team, a very good football team, and we played solid. I am as proud as I can be of our coaches and players. It’s a great night to be a Georgia Bulldog. … We had tremendous execution. I know we haven’t done that for an entire game like we did tonight.”
“We finished well. We had a lot of first downs when we decided to run the ball and chew up the clock. First downs like that are a tribute to the offensive line, but it also takes the fullbacks and the tight ends, everybody. To have two guys go over 100 yards is a tribute to everyone.”
“I thought the most impressive play of the game was when Quintavious Harrow had that knock-’em-back, get-everybody-in-the-stadium-excited tackle. That ignited our football team.”
“Our fans had a lot to do with our success definitely. They created so much noise. When you see a quarterback walk to every player on the team, you know it’s loud. It slows them down, and it creates a little confusion for them.”
“(After this season’s 0-2 start), I was really hoping we’d continue to improve as the season rolled along. The guys are gaining more confidence and they’re playing hard and they’re playing smart. … After each snap, we want our guys to play hard and play physical. We want each guy to win his 1-on-1 battle. We challenged each guy to win down after down.”
Quarterback Aaron Murray:
“It’s a great win for us. We got off to an 0-2 start, and sometimes the offense was playing great and sometimes the defense was playing great. It seems like it all kind of just clicked for everyone today.”
“All three facets of the game played great. The defense was making it impossible for them, special teams played great and the offense was clicking. It all starts with the offensive line giving me time and opening up huge holes.”
Tailback Carlton Thomas:
“We’ve been working hard. All the coaches and players have been behind each other, and it’s an awesome feeling to come out and do what we did. Everyone was playing tough.”
“Obviously, I got a lot of carries and I was just trying to make them the best carries of my life and make the best of the opportunity.”
“We’ve got great depth and it’s all starting to show late in the season. We’ve just got to keep working. I’m really excited to see where we’ll end up in January.”
Safety Bacarri Rambo:
(On his interception return for a touchdown:) “I saw Abry (Jones) waving for me to come that way, so I did, and those guys just helped me into the end zone. We played great today. It’s a great day to be a Bulldog.”
Linebacker Alec Ogletree:
“Offense, defense, special teams, everyone played great today and it showed. We wanted to come out and play a full game together and that’s what we did. We just worked hard all week and it paid off today in the game.”
AUBURN
Coach Gene Chizik:
“There isn’t a whole lot I can tell you that you didn’t see. It was a disappointing loss for us. We got beat at every phase of the game tonight. We didn’t cover many people all night, couldn’t stop the run and turned the ball over. That’s why we got beat 45-7.”
“Georgia made some good plays and is a very talented team. With the exception of the first drive, they flat out stopped our offense. We couldn’t get some of the perimeter pass game under control. It was pretty evident what we couldn’t do.”
“Hopefully we can fix some of the things that happened. Week in and week out, we look at what the defense gives us and design our game from there. Georgia is tough to defend. Murray threw tonight with great accuracy, which he has been doing all year. We just didn’t do a good job defending the perimeter pass.”
“We’re playing with guys who have the most experience for the last 10 weeks. Tonight, the outward appearance was that we got physically dominated on both sides of the ball. Maybe when we watch film, we will find something different.”
Quarterback Clint Moseley:
“I really can’t put a finger on it. I messed up too much, and this was a big team loss. They got too many yards, and we didn’t get any. It was bad.”
(Comparing LSU and UGA): “Both teams know how to play defense. I don’t want to cause anything by making a prediction, but it will be a great game.”
“I really thought this was the best week of practice that we’ve had all season. We are a young team but that doesn’t make it any better.”
Wide receiver Emory Blake:
“Next week we need to go back to work, watch film and fix our mistakes.”
“I’m a little shocked. I thought we were prepared. We made too many mistakes. They are a good team, but we played poorly.”
Linebacker Corey Lemonier:
“They had a good game plan and came out and executed, and we missed out assignments. They dominated us. We’ll come back next week and try to prove something.”

CMR is 3 and 1 against Alabama (The only Georgia coach with winning record against Alabama)
He is 3 and 3 with LSU (AJ Green celebration penalty aided).
That is 6 and 4 Brew….
Anyway, next three games are in state of Georgia. Soon to be 21 of last 26 against UK. Come on Georgia fans buy them tickets, fill up the end zone at Grant Field and buy up the SECCG tickets, New Orleans for our 5th Sugar Bowl win.

Good point
I agree,
Im hoping we will see this type of play calling out of Bobo from here on out.
UGA has the talent to win big it just needs the right play calling
I rather see us lose and Bobo call a game like he did yesterday than see us lose like we did against Boise and watch the most conservative play calling ever.
Gratham has been the bright spot and something Im looking forward to next season.
I hope Richt is turning the corner Im just staying cautious as Ive been let down way too many times
With that said Im sure idiots will read what is on this statement and call me a troll or non UGA fan

Flat Tire,
“I hope Richt is turning the corner Im just staying cautious as Ive been let down way too many times”
I drank the kool aid in 2007, thought Richt had righted the ship after the two “disappointing” losses. I’ve been down on him ever since. I’m encouraged, but still dumbfounded by the “blind” support he’s gotten despite the condition he allowed the program to deteriorate to, and the factors leading to it.

I lost it after the 2008 AL debacle with better talent we couldnt even score a TD nor FG in the 1st half with 4 NFL starters
I realized then that this staff had the keys to a fine car but had no idea how to crank it.
In my opinion looking at the talent at RB WR QB and Defense thats returning anything less than 11-1 next season in my opinion is a failure
But again I refuse to drink from the kool-aid bar knowing full well this staff always has at least 2 games they will lose do to lack of preparation and poor conservative play calling.

Flat tire, once again you ask a question ” would he have beaten them the last 3 years ?” Since the games weren’t played, we’ll never know. But we Do know CMRs record vs ALA and LSU, and he has come out on top. You just can’t accept the truth. I’m not taklikng about UGA vs ranked teams, or whatever logic you use, but ONLY vs ALA and LSU. He has been the better coach vs those 2 programs. Respond to that fact !

Im glad your only great point about Richt is how well he has done against AL and LSU
Richt has done well against Ole Miss and Miss St Vandy and KY too
He hasnt done as well against FL the most important win UGA has on its schedule
Like Mobile Dawg said when was the last major upset UGA had?
The 2005 LSU game and thats been a long time for one of the highest paid coaches in college football.
Where it counts
Richt has never gone undefeated in the east
Richt is 30-26 against Top 25 opponents
Richt is 8-11 vs ranked teams
We just beat a ranked opponent for the 1st time in 2 yrs
Richt has a terrible record against our main rival FL
Im glad he has a winning record against LSU and Bama but Guess what moron
LSU and AL have 3 national titles during Richts tenure and a possible 4th comming up and when you add FL thats 5 National Titles with possibly 6 on the way and UGA hasnt even sniffed one
So have some more of your brewmaster machine made kool-aid Mr. Feable Mind

I realized a while back that it’s fruitless to debate facts with people who don’t base their opinions on them. I read a quote a while back that describes a portion of the fan base to a “T”, ” you can’t remove with logic, what wasn’t put there with logic in the first place”.

I never said anything about Richts record against them. But feable minded brewmaster somehow got stuck on Richts record head to head
The things I posted earlier about
record in the east
record against top 25 and top 10 opponents are the most important and if you are successful in that area then you have everything to brag about

Flat,
Hey couple of questions for ya, and not being antagonistic here.
1) Look at Texas and Mack Brown…would you want the title in ‘07 only to see the program flame out? I think the easy answer and maybe the answer 100% of the time is always take the title, as in Auburn.
Though 4 years later NT aside which prgram would you rather be?
2) You like to look backwards at Richts numbers, but lets just give him the benifit of the doubt for a moment and say he has righted the ship. Recruiting has improved, defense is back to VanGorder years.
What do you see this team capable of? How far in this 10 game window of 2011 can this staff take this team? Whats the ceiling of all this talent essentially in your opinion?

If Flat Tire would look at Richts numbers from 01-07, he would see a winning percentage in those areas comparable to Saban and Miles. It takes a team to win championships. Players can win games, teams win championships. In 08 we started the demise of the team. In 11, we are getting our team back!

Flat Tire, not just against ALA and LSU, but against Saban and Miles, the two coaches you have on a pedestal. I already conceded your point about MNCs and records vs ranked opponents, but you still never directly answered intelligently my point of his record vs those 2 coaches. When they went head to head in the most meaningful SEC game ( Beat the Crap out of Saban’s LSU squad) Richt won. What are you going to say if Richt beats LSU in the upcoming SECCG ? Let me guess :” It wasn’t against a very good LSU team. ” Or, ” it was the players, not the coaching.” Do you think Dooley was a good coach ? I do. Did he have some down years ? Sure he did. Should he have been fired for that ? Numbnuts like you probably would have fired him after the 79 season just before they won the NC and lost only a couple of games over the next 3 years. Saban will also have some down years, if he stays there long enough. He is not loyal enough to stay anywhere for very long, always looking for that next higher paying job. Hell, even know it all LSU fans ( like you) wanted to fire Miles as recently as last year ! So take your hotseat and shove it up your …………

This is for UGA89- Crowell is a top 10 running back. His only problem is strength and conditioning. His attitude is far from apathetic. I have spoken to him and he wants to be great and he loves being a Dawg.
A full off-season in the weight room will produce a rock-toting terror next year.
And everyone who is perfect and has never made a mistake or had a lapse in judgment can keep talking about his attitude, his supposed lack of discipline, and his alleged ME complex. Everyone else should be advised that Isaiah suffers from none of that. He is just an 18 year old kid away from home for the first time and playing football at a major SEC program…all while trying to grow up and find his way.
Give the kid a break. And get his autograph… because he is going to become one of the best running backs UGA has ever had before he’s through.
Count on it.

Grantham is a much better coach than Van Gorder ever thought about being. VG inherited the studs ran out of players left less talent for Martinez….Grantham has developed what we had left, recruited and showed what a real coach is…A developer of talent. VG was a good technician but did not develop anything at GA he ran out of talent and did not develop what we recruited. Go Dawgs!!!!!!!

Mathematics is amazing. Coach Friend has a unique situation. The OL has improved greatly. I know we need more OL but with the small amount of players we have on the OL that means they get more repititions during practice than they would get if we had 15 OL to break in and train. I wish we had more but knowing that the starting five or the sixth substitute are the ones getting more reps they can only get better because of it…..Recruit OL…I know they cannot play special teams and we need the skilled athletes but get the best OL and we will continute to win the LOS.

I will bite. Again Ga may win the SEC. But they ruined their chance at a national championship with the first two losses. period. will be the only SEC team i can remember in the last 15 years to win the conference (if they beat LSU) 3 times yet not get a chance to go to the big dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is what makes me sick. First time (this year) in 30 years to beat FL and Tenn in the same year. that record is unacceptable to me……Show me you can run the table and win a national title……Then GA is back.

Dont get so excited yet still lot of football left to play. I know that alot of you out there wanted to see Mark Richt go but having a soft schedule might have saved his job. Thank God Florida, Tennessee, Auburn are having down years huh?
When was the last time you saw all 3 teams that bad? Im not downplaying our season because it’s not Georgia’s fault its that way but it worked out in Richt’s favor.
No National Championship ahead, Georgia can still wind up in a major bowl. All they have to do is beat Kentucky and Ga. Tech. Right now it looks like LSU in the SEC Championship. If we lose then i think we still end up playing in the Sugar Bowl.
Georgia has alot to play for, Richt has never won 7 in a row so Georgia can finish with a 9 game streak. I think the offensive line played their best game saturday. Isiah Crowell did not. Stay focused and close out the season the right way.

You’re right. This isn’t a season that will bring a National Championship to Athens. The slow start guaranteed that. Georgia will probably play in the Sugar Bowl if they win the SECCG. If the chalk holds and LSU wins, then Bama will probably go to the Sugar, and that’s what should happen.
Still, the Dawgs have made great progress this year and the goal should be to build on that for next year. We’re headed in the right direction now, and we don’t need to look backward.

Auburn Florida and Tennessee all the way back to 1980, combined to have 16 losses only in 1980, 15 losses in 1981 2001 and 2008, 14 losses only in 2002.
Auburn Florida and Tennessee project to 20 Losses combined this season. Combined they already have 15 losses, which only 1980 is worse than. You know Auburn is going to lose to Alabama. I don’t see why Florida would beat even Florida State. And, all 3 figure to lose their bowl games. There is no season in which Auburn, Florida and Tennessee lost more than 16 games all the way back to 1980, thirty-one years ago and with Auburn’s loss to Alabama, they will have matched that as the worst football season for the 3 teams in 31 years.

Would all of you “Coach Richt is the greatest…now” crowd still be thinking the same if the Vandy player had picked up that blocked punt and carried it all the way to the end zone, winning the game?
I really hope Coach Richt is not given an extension. I agree there is a problem of who to replace him with. Why not just keep him on a year-by-year basis. That keeps his feet to the fire and makes sure he has skin in the game (mix metaphors much?).

Wow, let’s revel in a complete game victory! That’s the first one this season. It’s not like UGA does it game in and game out. If they would, then maybe Richt and Co. would be supported by everyone. I for one have seen too many incomplete games to feel that Richt and Co. will EVER win a BCS championship. If you are satisfied with 9-3 or 10-2, you’ve got what you want. Remind me, has Richt and Co. EVER gone undefeated? What is the record against ranked teams? To be the best you’ve got to beat the best.

You’ll tried to say that Mark Richt beating the worst Florida team in 23 years was great stuff. In fact, you went so far as to say how do I know the team is the worst Florida team in 23 years, in your excuse making. Then, you tried to say that can only play the games scheduled. Now, of course, that Auburn is not ranked at all in the Coaches’ Poll and has ZERO votes, you try to say how great it is that we dominated the Auburn team who has the # 97 Total Defense and the # 86 Total Offense. In the AP Poll, Auburn not only is not ranked but has votes enough to only be # 32 before they lose to Auburn and have ZERO votes in the AP Poll too. So, you run in here to tell everyone how wrong the “haters” are you try to label us all, you included. Correct, I submit formally that each of you have said the exact same about Mark Richt as all those you decry this morning as Richt “haters.” I have put your posts about such in this blog. What do you want dude?
Good lord that was a beatdown of a ranked team that has won more in our stadium versus us than we have versus them.
They were confident with their QB just having thrown 4 TD’s in a game and their running game has been off the chart.
We completely stuffed them.
Then after building a big lead, we ran it down their throats.

Or, if it is not I we are discussing, but your own comments sir – then, Auburn, Florida and Tennessee have not combined for more than 16 losses in 31 years, all the way back to 1980 when they had 16 losses combined. This year they already have 15 losses, before Alabama beats Auburn, which is 16. Is Florida State even going to beat Florida ? Who wins a bowl game out of this group of DOWN teams ?

What do I want ?
Beat teams who end up ranked top 10 which he is 3-10 vs in 11 years to-date.
Not lose to teams who would not end up top 25 teams if they did not beat Mark Richt, which now stands at 17 such losses in 11 years to-date.
Beat # 97 Total Offense and # 86 Total Defense Auburn, does NOTHING to either area I have harped on and YOU SIR HAVE AGREED WITH ME ON. Until this morning, that is, sir.
Now, you say what do I want ?
Rhetorical question, correct ?
Have I not been crystal clear that which I want ?
Beat the top teams better than 3 wins in 13 games over 11 years.
Not lose to 17 teams 11 years who’d not end up top 25 without beating Mark Richt.

Not supposed to hold Mark Richt accountable for the schedule that has seen, for example, Auburn Florida and Tennessee have not lost 16 games combined in any season of the last 30 years, and stand at 15 today before Auburn loses to Alabama ?
But, we are to GIVE Mark Richt a RAISE and a CONTRACT EXTENSION based upon these worst teams in 31 years he is beating ?

Has spewed his venom and countless hours of research being so Anti Mark Richt that he cannot afford to see that this team MAY just be different. He would rather give you the numbers over the past 3-4 years and see this is who CMR is and it is impossible for him to be any different
This 8-2 season is soley smoke and mirrors. The 0-2 start is the only key indicator of who this team is. This is what he would want one to believe. This does not take into account all the young talent that has developed at skill positions and the maturation of our defense.
Nope, it is the old magicians slight of hand trick according to him. We have no hope in this season nor next as long as CMR is the coach. UGA fans do not take into account next year this talent will be one year more seasoned and better prepared to take on a tougher schedule. Nope, we are doomed to fail because he quotes stats that CMR cannot go back and correct.
It is a sad state that you live in. Pulling for a team where you have no hope for. Candidly I cannot imagine why you would not go pull for Alabama or LSU as these are the only teams that seeminly can meet your lofty expectations.

Flat Tire, exile, Old Dog, Thomas Brown…I don’t care what you say, that was a great win against Awbun. This is turning into a pretty good season after a rocky start.
RE Bobo’s play calling: My I offer that perhaps it was more our QB play than play calling? Murray has turned it around…with the same plays that CMB called during the Boise and SC games. He has been a 50% passer and prone to turnovers for much of his young career; with flashes of brilliance here and there. Lately he’s been over 70%. Since you like espn.com/dawgnation and D. Ching so much, here’s one…
http://espn.go.com/colleges/georgia/football/story/_/id/7060888/aaron-murray-carry-georgia-bulldogs
AU in ATL, Nov 13 @850pm…thanks for pointing out that CMR is a good coach. Too bad that 4-5 ‘prolific’ posters make it look like Dawg Nation is continually disgruntled. Too bad that writers pick up on a few disgruntled fans and write headlines about CMR being on the hot seat. The majority of us aren’t happy with losses but aren’t necessarily on the ‘fire CMR’ nor the ‘fire CMB’ bandwagons. Some of us see that CMB is a pretty good play-caller but that, especially early on, the team didn’t execute. CMB didn’t fumble and let Ingram run down the field and win the SC game. The Evil Genius bout implanted his visor ONTO his head after that play.
Flat and exile…check out recruiting classes for Texas, FSU, and Flawduh the last few years; and the results on the field. You know all about the other perennial top 10 or top 20 recruiting schools and their records this year, so I won’t list them all. Yep, LSU and Bama are up there in recruiting and results. How ’bout the rest? Shouldn’t they have fired all those coaches years ago, with their records?
“You don’t see anybody knocking down the door the hire Bobo.” So, you overhear all his phone calls and read all his emails? Hmmmm…I wonder if he knows that? I might be ignorant, so please show me the headlines where they’re knocking down the doors to hire Saban and Miles and all their assistant coaches.
Ok, that’s all I’m gonna say about that, Forrest. Time to move on to the Kaintuck game.
Go Dawgs! GATA!

UNCLE…I’m a believer…most fun game in many, many moons. Every one of those sensational athletes on this UGA team finally stepped up and played together. I had forgotten what a complete game looks like. Just be careful of UK; the Cats are overdue and the Dawgs can come unglued at a moment’s notice…
