Aron White clutches a piece of Georgia's hedges as he's interviewed at Sanford Stadium following Saturday's 63-16 win over New Mexico State. (AJC photo by Chip Towers)
Aron White has become somewhat of an Internet sensation.
Video of the senior tight end from Columbia, Mo., getting stuck in Georgia’s famous hedges has been making its way around the world wide web since the Bulldogs’ 63-16 win over New Mexico State Saturday. White dove head first into the Chinese privet hedge row after leaping a marimba following a touchdown catch in the east end zone. He had to be extricated by teammates before he could celebrate his second touchdown of the season.
I spoke with White about the chain of events in the locker room following the game and took a picture of him clutching a piece of the assaulting hedge, which I’ve included here. Scroll down to see video footage of the play.
Here’s what White said about it after the game:
“I’m a little bit of a character so people thought I was playing. They said, ‘Man, you did that on purpose.’ But I didn’t. I couldn’t get up. My teammates got to the hedges and they were yelling at me. ‘Come, on, come on!’ I was saying, ‘I can’t. Help me, pull me, do something!’ When they finally did yank me out of there, it tore a big hole in the back of my jersey. They didn’t believe me ’til I showed them my shirt. That gave me a little credibility. But God, man, it felt so good to score in Sanford Stadium. To be right in front of the student section and to pop up like that and it go from almost dead silence to everybody cheering and roaring and everything, it felt really good.”

Thomas Brown is in fact BullDawg and to be honest with you on some accounts what he says does make sense. this is still a free country and we still have the right to free speech for a little while longer. Anyways I can still remember when he posted positive things about our Dawgs believe it or not. I guess I date myself back to 2006 on this blog.
Actually November 4th, 2011 1:02 pm
Actually Thomas Brown makes some great points.
I evaluate Mark Richt’s accomplishments relative to what he has to work with.
That has something to do with what he inherited, but far more to do with Georgia’s day to day realities.
Georgia has a long history of being consistently pretty good. But that’s because our fanbase is more concerned with a great party and watching technicolor clips of #34 with Munson in the background than they are with DEMANDING excellence. Alabama, may be a bunch of obsessive rednecks with nothing else to do, but they win at the highest level fairly often because they Demand it. When Florida started demanding it, they became nationally relevant.
Richt is not a great coach. He’s a decent coach and a great man, and represents our university in fine fashion, which is sadly a rare thing and the main reason I’m not clamouring for his dismissal. But make no mistake, he’s not a great coach and Georgia could and should do better.
We lose as favorites 4 times as often as we win as underdogs.
Mobile Dawg November 6th, 2011 11:22 pm
Jimmy, the point of this blog is to discuss things. Why do you want people to go away that have a different opinion than you?
AltamahaDawg November 6th, 2011 11:48 pm
Mobile, now you have to admit that the “kool-aid” crowd as you describe them as such a minority in here that compared to the never find one thing right crowd, you can’t ever see them in the back. I find very few folks who profess to be supporters of Richt that ever refuse to discuss facts in here. In fact I think they readily acknowledge the issues and struggles recently.
_____________________________________________________________________
Fascinating. Seems to me from my point of view sir that it is much less likely that the everything is going to be fine crowd, will discuss any facts, nor will a single one of them ever for any reason admit that they are acknowledging there ever has been any issue. And, they 100 percent do not readily or otherwise admit recent struggles.
Oh, we are doing just fine. Mark Richt is the best ever in history. He wins 9 games a year in a 14-game schedule he could be playing every single year. He is the best recruiter and always has been. No, he is not responsible for the actions of those same recruits, for his motivation of them, or for their idiotic actions on or off the field. Don’t we all just want to go back to Ray Goff years. Who in the name of heaven could we possibly find of the 25 programs doing better than us after 2005, seven seasons ago ? Surely, none of them want to come here. I would take Richt over all of them, any of them, each of them. NC next year. He is a fine Christian.

thomas,
Once again you post statistics and facts based on of your statistics in hopes that no one will actually check and call your bluff. Concerning this Fulmer Cup crap you like to say that UGA is always so guilty of showing CMR’s lack of control and discipline of the UGA team..
Let’s review the truth instead of the Thomas Brown truth, the REAL TRUTH.
Since 2006, UGA has had a total of 49 Fulmer cup points, leading the pack with 21 points in 2010…
Florida has had 63.
Tenn. has had 37.
Auburn has had 87. and won the cup in 2011. Total points 81.
Alabama has had 37 and won the cup in 2008. Total points 28.
Now this means that UGA won it one year, with the lowest total of points in the year they did win it at 21. This year alone, three teams that finished behind Auburn had more than 21 points, and three others were within 5 points of the UGA winning total in 2010. Th winners that were not SEC members won by a margin equal to or greater than the UGA total for 2010.
You sir are a blow hard, that hopes nobody checks your facts that you somehow come up with in I believe your head half the time.
I had to take a course in statistical analysis for my degree and one thing was made perfectly clear about statistics. Anybody that continually uses them, prefers not to do in depth research, but only enough to make his or her point. In the scientific community, it is known as lazy. All statistical studies can be skewed to prove the persons point and just as easily used to disprove one’s theory as prove it. It is impossible to take into consideration all conditions used or responsible for a particular ending point and statistics are used as only a beginning reference point, not as a valid argument for or against anything. A six year study to arrive at statistical data to prove a point, is not even valid in the real world,, much less the scientific one. I could quote you statistics hours on end about climatology, and Astrophysics and I could skew them, so that you could present them as evidence of the world coming to an end based on the coming ice age theory or the theory suggesting that the sun will destroy us all in a giant flare one day. They would mean about as much as your statistics do. UGA has been playing football for 123 years now, and had a flotilla of coaches. Thank God, there are smarter men than you, that makes decisions based on facts that count for something, other than the rantings of what appears to me to be, a deranged person who delights in always trying to find negative things to say about one team, or class of fans.

Grow those tiger heads by about six sizes. By the time we see them in Atlanta they will have counted up how many endorsements they will receive after the NFL draft. All we are going to do is light them up like we have before. We have seen better LSU teams. Their offense is not capable of scoring many points agains our defense. On the other hand, if we play like we can plan, we will put up 35 on those clowns. You gave away the SC game. We all know it. Blank happens! Boise would be fun to do again in New Orleans. @Still@theKool-aidBAR .. First, I think that by saying the SEC East is the worst in the last 15 years is discounting the fact that a 5 loss team won it last year. Second, you STILL can’t compare the two. Hard to say that CPJ had less talent than his competition at GaSo. And at GT, he is still in the ACC and even then, it isn’t like GT was wallowing in the basement of the ACC standings. Plus, CPJ’s first contract with GT was worth more than CMR’s first with UGA.

It’s great… to be… a Georgia Bulldog! I don’t see how Auburn wins with their QB making his third start ever against our QB-eating D. And we will have all of our weapons locked and loaded. But we will need to be serious, remembering the way AU behaved last year, focused, and ready to TCB.
@BayouDawg- Having lived here in Baton Rouge the past 30 years, I will say that Nick Saban is the only coach LSU will ever have who cares as much about winning as the LSU fans. Nick seems depressed even when he wins an NC.

Why does that matter? You never said anything about how they won the east. I just said the East Champ had 5 losses. FACT, they did have 5 losses. THEY STILL LOST 5 GAMES LAST YEAR! That’s the only point I am making. The team at the top finished the season with 5 losses. The “next best team” also had 5 losses. It doesn’t matter when they had them when you are looking at a conferences entire body of work.

OK we are not arguing the lil numbers. The EAST last year had a BETTER top team than this year. IMO then. The EAST has not been this weak COLLECTIVELY CONSECUTIVELY then in the last 15 years. Does it change the basic premise of the argument?

News Flash: Thomas Brown has left the building to become a motivational speaker. Kool aid man, keep the hedges out of this. For the Dawgs getting sucked into the dissing contests about Tech and other teams, I wouldn’t. Tech is doing quite well, and will be a tough opponent, and CPJ is a very innovative OC. Look at Tech’s run stats, and overall stats the last few years.

Coach Richt is best

Yeah they’ve never had any suspensions at Georgia under Coach Richt. He’s a christian. He beats everybody. Just look at this year. He’s won every game the last 7 weeks. His players are all young. His coaching staff is better than every other staff. He will beat Auburn. Auburn is just great. His recruits are the dream team; does anything else need to be said on that? He will beat Lsu. He beats bama too. Arkansas, please. Does Georgia really want to go back to the goof years? I don’t think so. Coach Richt will be here forever. President Adams hired Coach Richt. He also fired Donnan. Next year Georgia wins the national champ. It will be great. Coach Richt is not selling his homes. He is going to donate all that money to his church. He has adopted children from not wealthy countries. Coach Richt is the best. The recruits are lined up. He has 8 strings of running backs. He chose Aaron Murray and Aaron is the best quarterback in the SEC. Aaron Murray has won all these games this year. Last year is over. It was just 1 bad year. This year is certainly the best ever. They beat Ky and Gt. I don’t see any problems. They might even win the national champ this year. You don’t know. I don’t want Satan. Satan lost Saturday. Coach Richt won Saturday. I would rather have Coach Richt than Satan. Les Miles is a fool. Paul Johnson got lucky 1 year. 1 out of 11 years after Coach Richt beat them again soon. Coach Richt will win the bowl game like he always does. Coach Richt has been hiding how good his team is this year. What he has 7 wins now? Auburn, Ky, Gt. That is 10. Beat Lsu. That is 11. Beat BCS bowl team. That is 12 wins. Mark it down.

Still@ So if CMR goes 32-19 (not so good), he will match CPJs record. NOW CMR has 74% wins in the SEC, CPJ has 71% wins at Ga Southern, Navy and in the ACC. PLEEEASE!

Nobody pay ANY attention to anything Still@theKool-aidBAR says. Yesterday he was comparing Jerry Sandusky raping 10-year old boys in the Penn State locker room to UGA players smoking weed, as if they were equal offences, and then went on to defend Joe Pa for not doing anything to make sure it didn’t happen to any other kids. He obviously has his head very far up his @$$!

See how statistics can lie,. You just proved my point again. You are completely right. How could any reasonable person compare div II football games, play by Navy for the time CPJ was there, to SEC team and then state any reasonable assumption. The old saying goes, about apples and oranges. Now if, he really coached Navy in the 1960s-, early 70’s, that might have been a point. In 1963, they finished second in the nation and lost to Texas for the national championship in the cotton bowl. They had a guy named Staubach or Roger the Dodger as he was called. Once he left though, Navy fortunes went down quite a bit. From about 1980 on, they have played in mostly games, with the exception of Notre Dame, at schools, with more of the same type student body and recruiting power that they have. It is hard to recruit guys at the service academies, even though they can apply for waivers, to spend their six year obligation in the reserves. The great majority of folks on here that use statistics to try and prove their point, don’t factor or think about enough of the conditions or variables and hope folks like you and I will not call them up on them.
