Video: Tailbacks, suspensions, character issues and now who totes the rock?

I answer the questions of CineSport’s Noah Coslov about Georgia’s tailback situation heading into Saturday’s home game against New Mexico State. Coslov by the way, is getting married this weekend, so feel free to include your well wishes to him among the comments. Congratulations, Noah. . . .

Some of you that post here would never show your real face or name because you’d never make into Sanford Stadium.

bunch of damn turncoats.

just for once, I’d love to see the “fans” celebrate the fact that the Dawgs are 6-2 and just beat Florida.

I like how you people come on here and blame every coach – when it is the player and the player only – the coach can only do so much –
You must be a bunch of democrats to blame everyone and everything but the person.
Can one of you loosers please explain why what these players did to get suspended is the coaches fault?

Read somewhere on the Interweb recently, maybe on this site, that Crowell will be only the fourth TB in the past 20 years at UGA to gain 1000 yards, If he is able to play and keep pace. Sounded unbelievable to me, considering UGA is Tailback U… Can anyone name the only other three or dispute this claim?

Dont worry Dawgs fans, its no big deal against New Mexico State.. We can throw the Hail Mary every play and burn New Mexicos defense no problems with our fast wide reciever. Also, this brandon harten will probably tear it up when he gets a chance… Dawgs roll 48-10 saturday

Ok, Crowell was wrong. How many of you perfect people screwed up at 18? Now how many of you were in the spotlight as the starting TB at UGA to have your every move magnified? Now since all of you know so much about college football, how many college athletes do you think smoke weed here and there?…Now for CMR, is it me or do people just look for a reason to hate him? I mean he beat UF in spite of this special teams. He is now 7-2 (safe to say we’re getting a W sat) with a bunch of freshmen and sophmores. We supposed to be excited that we are winning and not exactly clicking yet. I wish UGA fans would unite behind CMR and stop bashing this dude for everything. He didnt make these guys get in trouble and he trying to help them rather than throw them under the bus.

It’s scary to think how good we might have been if Ealey and King would have had smarts enough to man up and do what they signed up to do. Still, we are 6-2 and tied for 1st. As for defections/suspensions being some kind of indicator of a programs health ~ Florida has lost 10 from their latest recruiting class. And as for our coaching staff underachieving as many say – Florida = offensive coordinator with 3 Super Bowl rings…..Head coach = Saban apostle and defensive guru…..best recruiting class in the history of college football…..two of the fasted backs in college football, one of them the fastest man period on the planet (run down from behind by Boykin, by the way and oh, Muschamp said he was 100 %…..senior QB…….gee, all of a sudden UGA ’s staff is looking pretty good, I’d say!

YES! It’s OK to be a Dawg and be HAPPY right now! We are on a roll and we are putting up the W’s! The rest of this crap about Crowell and some failed tests is BU!!$h!T! If you look at the big picture we are SMOKIN’! GO DAWGS. Or would you rather be Florida and on the worst losing streak in 23 years? Yeah, thought so.

Have you guys noticed how the GT whiners are always posting here trying to stir up the UGA fans? The truth is they are embarrased about their 2nd rate coach and his poor recruiting. They only wished they had CMR.

too many of these blogs are irresponsible and hateful. never let the facts get in the way of your holier than thous opinions. chip, you probably won’t read this blog, but if you do, thank you so much for your blogs in setting the facts straight.

thisa whole mess is a reflection of our society, and many of thes blogs are why having success is so fleeting and difficult. there is a long list of hall of fame coaches who would probably not have even had a job today, b/c they did not win gig enough fast enough.

I have questiojns about cmr also, but some of these blogs reflect that we should torture the kids to death and blame global warming on cmr.

Look for me at AU game too. Really looking forward to getting back to Athens. That’s always a terrific game.

And the BBall teams are playing Friday night. Can’t wait to see them too.

Certainly not pleased with crowell, (the suspension, I think he has done an excellent job adjusting to the football part and done everything he has been asked to do) but still love the kid. He still has points with me for coming to Georgia, when quite frankly it wasn’t very shinny, and not the 20 other places that wanted him. Making his own life hard for himself, but i still beleive he is going to learn, move on, have a nice career at UGA. I understand he is embarrassing his team, and making a distraction, but that’s really a pretty part of the punishment and learning process too. I’m betting that nobody on that team has not accepted (all of thier) apologies as heartfelt. I hope he gets the ball on the first play of Auburn game.

Ten SEC schools do not suspend first time violators, but I did not hear that on 680 The Fan. I read it in the AJC. In 1966, the only thing that we had was PBR (3 letter word). Today, it is another 3 letter word (POT).

I think they pretty much ground all three in practise all week with extra stuff, from what I read. Sounded like it was a pretty embarrassing display in fron of everybody. Plus all the other stuff that have to do, counceling, comm service, getting drug tested every week. not to mention the public lenching they are taking right now.

I think they would have taken the senior beating anyday.

It’s really simple. If a kid has dreadlocks don’t recruit him. It shows an attitude. Just look at the NFL.

It pains me say it, but I have had a bad vibe about Crowell ever since signing day. It has gotten worse watching how he acts and carries himself on the sidelines and in his off field life. Unless he gets a major attitude adjustment, he will be bagging groceries along side all of Tech’s fomer athletes and non-graduates within a year’s time. Such a waste.

tide roll: go find yourself an Alabama blog for your insulting drivel. As I recall (and I do becuase I live in the Godforsaken state of Alabama), you guys wanted Crowell too. This could have been Y”ALL’S problem. Worry about LSU. That should be enough of a concern for you by itself!

AltamahaDawg: you mention “heartfelt aplogy”. In your opinion, is Crowell sorry he did what he did, or sorry he got CAUGHT doing what he did? There is a difference, you know.

Well, the bottom line is that the pups will win Saturday, regardless of the running back situation, but there should be an area of immense concern to those of you that are actually fans of this sham of a team. The concern should be for your overrated QB and his health. Even with the other backs in, Murray has been hit and beat up alot this season, and with all the inexperienced backs in the game, a good pass rush could get him hurt. That would not bode very good for your slim chance of beating Auburn on the 12th., another MUST win game.
As far as Crowell goes, he has been a prima donna from game 1. You can see it in his on-field mannerisms. Someone will clean his clock and ring his bell one day, and he will realize that he is no longer in Columbus, although Athens is not much better. The greater loss is going to be Richard Samuel, the only UGA back that I have seen this season that actually knows how to play running back.

Thomas I think your WRONG here Brother. The person responsible here is Crowell, PLAIN and SIMPLE. Richt didn’t give him the drugs, didn’t sell him the drugs and sure as hell didn’t force him to do the drugs. Bottom line is he got caught on a drug test because of his OWN FREE WILL he decided to smoked some POT. Richt is to blame too though, he has steadly been recruiting these players for the last 9 years and this is what you get when you sign these young men who feel they can behave this way. So the blame lands on all shoulders here. He needs to get a handle on the discipline problem he has at UGA. I think it should be stated in the signing contract that you get One (1) mistake with alcohol or drugs, you’re suspended from play for what ever the school thinks is fair for that particular infraction, any infractions after that your AUTOMATICALLY off the team and loss of scholarship until the next school year……PERIOD. You can come back once, and any infraction during that year ends in complete dismissal from the athletic program.
No one on the school faculty forces these young people to do drugs or drink alcohol so they can not be blamed for that, but they can be blamed for the lack of discipline for these people. SET the rules and live by them and make them stronger with more consequences than the NCAA rules. If not you will NEVER have more than just a great winning season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Dawgs, Fan for Life!

@ Joemac –

Your boy Paul “Moobs” Johnson would commit murder to have our “overrated” qb. You might want to concern yourself with your overrated coach and always overrated team who has yet to face a defense that even ranks in the top 60.

Trust me when i say to you that CPJ would not want Murray as QB. He would not last 2 games before injuries would take him down. He is a fragile QB. Almost as fragile as that prima donna RB.

So – can we have it both ways?
1. Prohibit the coaches from having team dorms, team meals, check in and out times and
2. also expect them to maintain perfect discipline and know where their charges at all times and what they are up to.

Bring back coach Lumpkin and Dean Tate!
