Hold on there @rebelyelldawg. There is a certain linebacker from Columbus (JJ)that hasn’t done anything to warrant that tag.

Mr. Koslov, could you live with your future mother-in-law? If not, then run like a spotted-assed ape ’cause that’s what you’ll be living with 20 years down the road.

Regardless of whose fault it is…..we are without proven running backs this weekend…..which is going to put more pressure on our already inconsistant quarterback. Say what you will about Crowell,(and I agree he needs to toughen up, get his act together, and keep his helmet on)but he takes a lot of pressure off the passing game, which has been spotty at best this season. Is this the game where Murray finds his accuracy? Or is this the game where Hutson Mason shows he deserves more playing time? I hope the former, but can’t say that I am not intrigued about the latter……And whatever happened to Orson Charles? Do we see him this weekend? Any thoughts?
———————
Holy crap, a football post .. and a good one too! I think Orson will get his this game, along with every other wideout/TE .. 50 passes, 25 runs and some of those by Big Tree.

bham dawg, if you read that article link on the first page of this blog regarding the lsu players, this wasn’t there first offense there regarding drugs according to the article. Soooo it is okay for LSD to play their playas w/o a bunch of crap being written about it AFTER their SECOND suspension. We take the high road and get blasted.

Why doesn’t the AJC send in a request to UGA to see the dates the drug tests were returned to UGA??? Freedom of Information ACT! They can redact the names so long as the actual documentation and dating remains. That will either prove UGA covered the whole mess up so that the backs could against Florida or not. Us Gator fans KNOW it was a coverup…so prove us wrong!!!

Thomas Brown, enough, please, go away. Your constant rants make me wonder who your real college is, but really, I do not care. Crowell was recruited because he was supposedly the best RB in GA. Richt had no choice but to recruit him. In the end of all things, it is up to the individual, Crowell in this case, to perform UP TO, the potential that he has. Ricky Williams was potentially one of the best RB’s to put on a football uniform, but he could not keep him self unstoned on marijuana, even boasted about loving the stuff. It may be that Crowell turns out to be the next Ricky Williams, but how can anyone know that at his age.

Thomas Brown: I’m going to have to respond to some of your comments today. First of all, you don’t know for a fact everything you think you know. (1) The tests were conducted last Wednesday night; (2) it was no secret within the team the tests were conducted on those 3 players; (3) I would imagine the players and/or some of their teammates would have known they’d test positive; (4) even if UGA would have known on the spot they had tested positive, all results have to be sent off to a private lab for independent confirmation and validation; (5) lab results were returned to UGA late Monday; (6) announcement of suspension was on Tuesday.
All of these facts corroborates what Georgia is saying. It’s easy to see how RUMOR of this would have leaked out on Thursday or Friday. But that didn’t make it FACT at that point. I, too, heard Crowell had flunked a drug test and was ineligible for Florida last week. But I checked it out, determined he was on the dress list, later determined he had actually arrived in Jacksonville, later noted it when he played in the game. In my business you have to deal in facts, not rumor.
It states clearly in Georgia’s drug policy that suspension for a positive test is to be served in the very next contest. Now if you want to conjecture that UGA, which administered the tests, knew the timing of it would allow these guys to miss NM St as opposed to Florida or Auburn, I wouldn’t doubt that. It’s reasonable to assume they were suspicious to start with and wanted to teach these kids a lesson. But you’ll never get UGA to admit that and I must deal in facts, not conjecture.
That’s all for now. You may return to your daily rantings.

Dr Jekyl, it does not matter what UGA did. UGA DOES NOT even have to suspend the players for a first offense at all. Why can’t people understand that very simple simple concept? WE DO NOT HAVE TO SUSPEND THE PLAYERS AT ALL. So no “rules” were broken regardless of when the test was taken the results issued. It is UGA policy to suspend on first offense. OUR rules to do what we want with them. So it isn’t anybody else’s business.

I’m betting that Harton, Karempelis, and Van Dyk play with a lot of heart. It will be fun to watch them. (You gotta love walk-ons.)
Crowell clearly has some growing up to do. He needs to get a haircut and get rid of the prima dona crown.
If Carlton Thomas gets another suspension, he needs to hit the road. Get real–or get out.
And Ken Malcome–has he done anything since he has been in Athens? Anything at all?
And doesn’t the UGA offense need to run the fullback a couple of times a game just to show the defense it will do it? Basically it’s been zero carries for the fullbacks all year.
And hooray for the suspensions in the first place! If this had been at Florida or Auburn or a lot of other places, there would be no suspensions.
Let Jarvis Jones have a few snaps at tailback!!

It’s the 50 pass attempts that scare me TampaDawg….I am just not sold on Aaron Murray. And please don’t confuse this with “hating”. Nothing would make me happier than to heap praise on our quarterback, but the truth of the matter is that he is really inconsistant. If it had not been for two spectacular catches on poorly thrown balls, we might not have made it out of Jax with a win…..and how many times has he missed King streaking across the field(not that King would have caught them….but that is another post). I keep waiting for this offense to have a “signature” game and it has just not happened. With a trip to Lexington looming and an always tough match-up with Auburn on the horizon, we need a running back to step up, we need Blair Walsh to step up, we need Special teams to step up, but most importantly, we need Aaron Murray to step up and lead this team to the SEC Championship!! Let’s hope he does….

What’s going on with all these college football players (not just the UGA guys)? Why are they smoking so much weed? I wish the NCAA could require that a player’s scholarship is revoked on the second offense- no questions asked. Give the scholarship to someone who will appreciate it!

Look, all-in-all, UGA is having a solid year and avoiding major issues. Our coaching staff has largely done a remarkable job. Yes, McClendon needs to maybe step it up, but you have to remember these young men are starting college, coming from various backgrounds, and the coaches cannot hit a “reset” button on their personalities when they get to school. If me and my friends had to be tested or hit with curfews while in Athens, it would have been a lot worse, I promise.
By the way, Chip, fire your make up artist!

Thomas Brown, you need to think through what you are saying. Maybe you could get some sleep and take a break from the AJC blog and that would clear your mind? Crowell would have known he failed the drug test the minute he took it, as would Malcome and Thomas–they knew it was in their systems. However, and it is a big however, nobody else would have known until the lab tested and confirmed the test. They usually split the sample and double test to protect the innocent. So your thesis is completely wrong. Of course somebody knew the minute the test was taken: the three guilty amigos knew. The staff and AD didn’t know, and even if they got wind of the rumor that was likely started by Crowell, Thomas, or Malcome, they couldn’t act on it until they had the due process of the drug procedure along with the certified results. I’m sure Crowell or one of the amigos probably said, uh-oh, and somebody picked up on it, and that likely started the chatter. Enough with the conspiracy theories and slanderous accusations. You are becoming part of the problem when you blame innocent people who are trying to fix the problem, sir!

Everybody is still kinda missing the COMPLETE point….it ain’t just the failed test, the lack of conditioning, the inability to take any kind of lick at all, or the lack or character; it is all of the above. Young kids will ALL make mistakes, true enough. But when somone is more interested in showing off dreads and jawing instead of playing solid ball, and when they keep their ass in trouble all the time except when they are haulin’ ass off the field after a little contact, and when they have been suspended more times than most players get in a career it becomes a larger question. It ain’t one or two things, its everything! JUST MAYBE if he will get his ass on the field and be a football player, and JUST MAYBE if he can go a little while without getting suspended, and JUST MAYBE if he can keep his helmet on and take one for the team, and JUST MAYBE if he will quit acting like a jackass after a mediocre run against teams with a losing record, he can become a good running back. No one expects perfection, but good night-above, don’t try to demonstrate ALL the weaknesses of bad character at once!!!
