WR Israel Troupe doesn’t make trip, Dogs down to 4 scholarship WRs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Greetings once again from EverBank Field, where we’re closing in on kickoff for the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry.

Some pregame news and notes:

  • Senior wide receiver Israel Troupe did not make the trip. No official reason was given as of yet but that obviously leaves the Bulldogs extremely thin at wide receiver.
  • Georgia was already having to go without leading receiver Malcolm Mitchell. The freshman split end from Valdosta was a late scratch when he failed to sufficiently overcome a pulled hamstring injury.
  • Rantavious Wooten (concussion) still has not returned since his late September car accident. At this point he would seem likely to be heading toward a medical redshirt season.
  • So all that leaves the Bulldogs with four scholarship wide receivers with which to compete. That’s starters Marlon Brown and Tavarres King and backups Michael Bennett and Chris Conley. Walk-ons Taylor Bradberry and Rhett McGowan complete the receiving corps for this game.

We’re almost there. Buckle up people!

What other team in the country gets two players hurt or suspended or a player transfers and all of a sudden, you are “thin” at a particular position? Only Georgia. In year 11, this should not be the case. Period.

IF all the WR’s stayed home and we ran a 2 TE set and figgins blocking, we win hands down, even with IC raising his hand to come out to often.

We aren’t facing Alabama’s secondary here. Florida’s secondary is pretty suspect. I think we’ll be fine.

Its well over due that we should have got rid of Mark Under Achieving Richt. We are about 5 years too late. I sure glad he stop pimping Jesus name and is trying to stand on his own talent….or lack there of. I wonder who hes going to blame this year. Georgia may get blown out. Its amazing to have top5 talent and end up out of contention after the 1st game. Another waste and disappointing year. More of the same next year if Richt is still here

Crowell is a wimp, all hype no go, he is scared to take a hit. Let’s run Thomas and see what h e can do, it is now time for Bobo and Richt to go, we are being beaten by a team with a crippled QB and no field goal kicker UGA sucks!!!

Well my family has now gotten off the Richt wagon. His team is not ready to play again. He is being outcoached in all aspects. Why come out throwing against a team that has trouble with the run. Get rid of Richt and Bobo now.

Another beat-down by Fl ,& I’m sick & tired of it. Ihope beyond hope that Greg McGarity will listen to the powers that be @UGA and take corrective measures. For the eleventh year that Mr. Richt has been the head coach at the University of Georgia , he has certainly proved beyond a shadow of a doubt his ineptitude to perform the duties as headfootball coach at the University of Georgia.I can’t say that I’m particularly fond of bei ng refered to as Fla.”s “B1tches” Make something besides this embarrasment happen for the Dawg Nation.

If they get the ST and OL sorted out, this could be a very special group over the next 2-3 seasons. All of the best players are still young and gaining much needed experience in big games.

I agree that the special teams need a lot of work. However, the defense was lights out against the Gators. The offensive line did a good job despite injuries and we ran the ball well. We had no major penalties unlike the gators. We won the game guys! Try looking at the positive.

Rhett McGowan is a gutsy walk-on from Calhoun, Kris Durham’s school. Clutch catch during the game. He caught a td pass in last year’s spring game. Maybe that’s why Troupe was left behind, being out performed in practice by McGowan and Bradberry who already has produced earlier this year.

Say what you want all of you pathetic naysayers – and I agree with some of you that Richt needs to tighten up in several areas (special teams in particular) – but – over 100 wins in under 11 years in the toughest conference in America is not too shabby, my friends. If you coach long enough you will have down times – you can either bail (ala Urban Cryer) or you can fight through it like a man and right the ship. Richt ain’t crying about the tough times – he’s putting together good, solid classes and coaching through adversity to wins. But he does need to get rid of Bobo – we can do better than that – ALTHOUGH – having said that —– it doesn’t seem like three Super Bowl rings has done much for Weiss at the college level. You just never know what you will be getting some times. I wonder how many of the posters who wish we had gotten Muschamp still want that choice? Nah…..didn’t think so.

Good solid win.. Best of luck the rest of the season! Hope Georgia wins out and SC loses one of their remaining games.

Georgia won and it’s over! Move on, forget about the last game and concentrate on the up-coming schedule.

The special teams is not what we have come to expect at Georgia, but hopefully Georgia can get this corrected before moving on. I am a Murray fan, but if he’s having a bad day, what’s wrong with Mason getting a few snaps , if for no other reason, than to try and settle Murray down. He was over throwing his receivers and staying in the pocket-way too long!!

I would like to see Richt and Bobo take the reins off Murray down the stretch and give the kid a chance to play football the way he can- being mobile! He may or may not be a future NFL quarterback, but that should not be part of the consideration while trying to develop him as a pro-style quarterback, not just yet-he’s got too play to his capabilities.

Just look at what he does when the reins are taken off compared when he stays in the pocket. He’s going to get hurt staying in the pocket for so long- he can run, let him make that decision.

I know Coach Richt and Bobo are trying to protect their quarterback, but somtimes like a parent, you just have to let your family members be themselves, along as it’s within the law. Their individual personalities is who they are, and Murray is a hell a lot better quaterback when he has some individual decisions he can make.

Just let Murray be Murray and play the game of football the way he knows how. The wins will come and you will have a better quarterback and a better team!

Cut it any way you like.. The “UGA” “D” will “TCB”.
I hope The “O” can get better.
Special teams are the weak link in this “UGA” TEAM CHAIN.
ON “D” make no mistake these DAWGS will HUNT not BARK at the MOON.
