Florida coach Will Muschamp, a UGA football letterman (1991-94) and graduate (’94) had his weekly press conference today. It’s one of just two interview opportunities he’ll allow all week. In case you’re interested, following is a transcription provided by the UF sports communication office. . . .
Opening Statement:
“To start with an injury report, the only player that is definitely out for this game is Jeremy Brown. He just continues not to respond to treatment. We have to continue press through with that and we’re disappointed for him. John Brantley is probable for the game; he will practice today in a limited role. We feel like John will be ready to go for the game. As we progress through the week we will know more about his status. We plan on him practicing today, and everybody else should be back. We shouldn’t have anybody miss today as far as practice is concerned.
“We had a good open week. We really worked hard on fundamentals and worked on Florida. We need to improve our football team, both lines of scrimmage, working on offense, defense and special teams. I thought that our players had a great attitude. They went out Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in full gear. I thought we had really good work, and started our prep on Georgia with players on Thursday and as a staff last Sunday. I think we have a good head start on where we need to go. We’ll be in full gear today and tomorrow, and then work in shells on Wednesday and Thursday as we prep to go to Jacksonville.
“Georgia has a good football team with three seniors on their offensive line. I said it last week; Aaron Murray is playing well for them. He has completed over 60% of his passes. He’s very mobile in what he can do directing his offense in his second year as a starter. Isaiah Crowell has played really well for them. Orson Charles is a threat at the tight end position – he’s a really good athlete, and a guy that does a nice job vertically down the field. Malcolm Mitchell has played really well for them as a freshman at the X position – he was out last week against Vanderbilt with a hamstring, but they expect him back. Their defense has played really well as the season has progressed as far as their points per game allowed, and they’re doing a nice job on the third down and mixing some different packages as far as over-and-under of what they’re doing with their front. They have a good football team, and I look forward to this.
“I know there will be a lot of wasted ink on the fact that I played at Georgia and now I’m coaching at Florida, but this is not the first time that I have coached against Georgia. I’m looking forward to the opportunity, and taking the Gators to Jacksonville.”
On QB John Brantley:
“Again, he didn’t necessarily practice, but through his rehab with the ankle, doing some drops and some different things, he did throw some there on the practice field. As far as partaking in practice, he didn’t do any. He was on the practice field; he did some throwing motion stuff and worked on a couple of drops here and there – just to see how the ankle took, and really to see how it felt the next day. We’re very pleased with his progress; he has worked extremely hard to get back for this week. Again, at this time, I would say that he is probable for the game on Saturday.”
On how Brantley was performing before the injury against Alabama:
“He was really playing well against a very good defense before he got hurt. He threw for almost 200 yards in the first half, on third down conversions I think we had two dropped passes that would have been conversions for third downs and hit some deep balls. He was really just playing very well, managing our team, getting us in-and-out of the right runs and if you really look at the first four-and-a-half ball games he was playing very well. Certainly, getting him back is going to be a huge psychological shock for our football team – I really believe that.”
On the quarterback rotation in practice:
“We’ll rep Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel, both. We have to give those guys turns and reps. Again, John won’t rep the whole practice today – both of those guys will take the other reps. They both had good weeks last week. We did a lot of situational work as far as one-minute, third-down periods and just different periods. We put pressure on those guys to continue to progress. Like I have said before, we need to play better around those two guys, starting up front: wide receiver, tight end, running back, we need to play better around both Jeff and Jacoby. [Today it won’t be an even 33% each split because] John will be a little limited in what he does, but as we continue to progress throughout the week, we will make a decision about who the back-up quarterback will be and go from there.”
On the importance of the bye week:
“When you have an open week, you can approach it several different ways. We took the approach that we needed some time off, and we gave them Sunday and Monday off [last week]. We came in Tuesday, had a very physical practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I thought we improved fundamentally on the things that I have identified that we need to work on, and I thought we got better, we improved. I thought we had a great attitude. The guys went out and worked. We had a team lift Friday morning, then gave them Saturday and Sunday off, coming back last night. I thought we took a step forward. You either get better or worse when you get on the field. I thought we improved our football team and continued to step forward in what we need to do in being successful.”
On the having the time to teach during the bye week:
“I think that you never want to have a bye week after a loss, and we had three. It was very frustrating from that standpoint of living through that. But, again, you need to be technical about what you have done well, and what you haven’t done well. You need to correct things that need to be correct, you need to build on the positive – which there have been some positives and continue to move forward with our team. Do I think it came at a good point? Yes. Especially from the standpoint that we were a little banged up. We needed to get some guys healthy and we needed to get some guys out of the grind of the season. It’s disappointing from the standpoint that we’re coming off of three losses, it’s always tough to have to sit through the weekend and not have an opportunity to go get it out of your mouth.”
On Brantley’s status:
“As of today, on Monday, he’s probable for the game [on Saturday]. We expect his reps to increase as the week grows. We want to get him out there today – get him out there moving around, have people around him and throw the football around a little bit. I fully expect him to continue to progress throughout the week unless we hit something that we’re not predicting. I fully expect him to be fine.”
On what you saw last week from Brantley:
“He continues to improve every day. It’s the day-to-day process of being able to get back on the ankle the next day. He continues to improve.”
On improving the play around the quarterback:
“I think more than anything, pad-level up front, hand placement, coming off – everything we did was good-on-good. We didn’t do any scout work as far as that was concerned. We went fast-ball tempo and playing blocks on defense, playing blocks up front. We really worked in a lot of skel periods as far as throwing the football, getting better timing in the throwing game and identifying some things that we’re doing well. We really minimized the things that we’re doing offensively to help the young quarterbacks, especially.”
On Ronald Powell returning to start after missing last game due to injury:
“We’ll determine that through practice, but he’s good to go. He’s back off his injury. He practiced Thursday full go, so he should be fine. Whoever practices best will play, that’s how we do it each week.”
On Brantley’s presence on the field:
“I said it earlier, psychologically; having him in the huddle will be a huge asset. He’s a leader of our team and is a guy that has been very productive. Obviously, when he was not in the game, the production went down. You have to give our opponents some credit on that as well. There is no question that he certainly gives us a psychological boost for our football team, on offense and defense too because that affects how the defense plays at times. That’s where we have to grow stronger mentally as a football team from that. You can’t let one thing affect you so much to where it affects how you play. That’s what I’ve really challenged the players, don’t let the circumstances around you control how you are. You control who you are. You play the game regardless of the situation. You play with a relentless attitude regardless of the situation. Those are things that we need to continue to grow on.”
On personnel changes:
“We’ve looked at some guys at some different spots. We’ll continue to move forward with that at this point.”
On battling for the back-up quarterback spot:
“We haven’t decided at this time. Both Jacoby and Jeff practiced really well last week. We put them in a lot of situations, and we’re going to continue to do that today. We’ll give John some early reps in practice, and then get those guys in some good-on-good work versus the defense. Whoever continues to progress and play well in those situations will be the back-up quarterback.”
On Brantley’s eagerness to return:
“John, when he had his injury, was very disappointed, hurt and down. Back then, he told me that ‘I want get back for Georgia’ – it’s important to John. His dad and uncle were both Gators, they understand the importance of this game. There is no question that he has really pin-pointed trying to get back for this game.”
On Dan Wenger’s status:
“Dan should be fine. He’ll practice today. Everybody should be back on the field today practicing”
On Georgia’s offense:
“Orson Charles is a guy that can really stretch the field vertically. They do a nice job of play-actions off of that and getting vertical down the field. Tavarres King, Malcolm Mitchell: a lot of guys have contributed for them outside. Isaiah Crowell has done a nice job, and Richard Samuel has done a nice job carrying the football for them. They have some guys and some weapons that you certainly have to take advantage of. You have to control the line of scrimmage. They’re going to take their 10 or 12 shots down the field and you have to defend their shots.”
On SEC East race:
“When you come to the University of Florida, you play to go to Atlanta. That’s part of the deal here, and I understand that. Each week, I’m trying to remove all the external circumstances of why you want to play hard. You ought to want to play hard because you play for Florida; you play for your teammates. To me, that ought to be motivating enough. Certainly, winning the SEC East is great – that’s what we want to do, we want to beat Georgia, and in order to do that we have to take care of business this weekend.”
On coaching against Georgia:
“Wherever I played has no bearing on this game at all. Every game is important, they’re all important games. It’s a SEC East opponent, it’s a big rival, it’s important to the University of Florida so it’s important to me.”
On the tradition of the Georgia-Florida game:
“You get charged when you come over that bridge and you see all the RV’s, the passion and the tradition of the game. Growing up in the South, you understand the impact of that game. There is no question that when you come over that bridge, it charges you up. You get goose bumps talking about it.”
On preparing the underclassmen for the atmosphere in Jacksonville:
“We have talked to our team about it, especially to the young guys, and we’ve had the older guys talk about it a little bit as far as this game is concerned. That’s how you try to prepare your team for what they’re walking into.”
On approaching the game as a former Georgia player:
“This profession is different than a lot of professions. You do your job for the school that you’re working for. It’s my job to do a great job for the University of Florida, and that’s what I’m trying to do. Again, I talked about it earlier, I don’t mean disrespect to anybody, but I’m loyal to people, not places. I work for Jeremy Foley and Dr. Bernie Machen, and those are the people I need to do a good job for and this football team and staff. That’s how I view things. I’ve worked at Auburn, LSU and Texas – I’ve worked a lot of different places, and this isn’t the first time I’ve played against Georgia.”
On the secondary:
“You’re going to get 10-12 shots in the game where they’re going to stretch the field vertically, and you have to defend those balls. There’s no question that this game will be a little different from the ones we’ve seen in the last two weeks especially, as far as what people are trying to down the field, vertically. They have some guys that are talented outside. They do a nice job as far as six- and seven-man protections, so as far as pressure is concerned it’s a lot of what I call turn-protection. It’s hard to get there, so you have to defend the ball. You have to defend the ball down the field.”
On the offensive line improvements:
“I think we made some improvements on the offensive line during the open week, and hopefully we’ll see that on Saturday. We have to continue to progress there as far as finding different ways to run the football, maintain balance for both our offense and quarterback and maintain possession of the ball.”
On the secondary improving:
“In the secondary, I really didn’t think that we played very well against Auburn. We’ve really challenged our guys after that game. Some opportunities that we had, we had opportunities to make plays and we didn’t finish some things down the field. Against this football team that we’re playing this Saturday that is something that we’re going to need to do.”
On creating turnovers:
“We’re minus-7for the season, so we’re last in the SEC. We have to create some positive momentum for our team, whether it’s on special teams or on defense. We need to continue to eliminate turnovers offensively, and get some turnovers on defense.”

Don’t worry, Florida ALWAYS beats Georgia.
Doesn’t matter who coaches.
And UGA usually gift wraps it with 3 int’s a game last 3 games.

UGA players deserve to win, but Richt and Bobo will make it very difficult for them.
Richt has only beat them once, and Tebow was injured in that game.
All you need to do is look how the coaches lost last year’s game for the players…
Do not bet on UGA unless you have money you don’t need.

James, I don’t totally disagree with you. The 3 INT’s comment is actually very apt. However, we do win one every once in a while. Maybe it’s this year. If UF takes us for granted, they may get beat.

Tough game either way.
UGA is not that great-undisciplined. Fla. just doesn’t have a very good team.
Should be a “good ugly game”!!
I hope we will but we don’t have very good luck in Jacksonville!!!!!

Florida will win because Georgia doesn’t belive they can. Murray choked last year and has done nothing to indicate he will perform better this year. Crowell is immature and selfish and has no heart. He will not perform on this stage. Richt and Bobo will be far too conservative to allow their team to have a chance to win. It hurts to say such things but this team has done NOTHING over the past three seasons to make anybody believe they can beat evn a mediocre Florida team….NOTHING.

@super B. you sound like CMR when he was saying how sorry he was that we actually won to James Franklin. Grow a pair dude. That’s not the way Will sees it. He has said lots of negative things about UGA, including that he didn’t really want to go there but he had to b/c he was a walk on and his parents couldn’t afford out of state tuition to Fla. So I say f**k him. He’a Gator now. I hope he’s losing 12 a year and gets fired and has to ask Daddy Saban to hire him as an asst.

I have watched every news conference Muschamp has participated in this year. And not once, not once, have I heard him say anything disrespectful about Georgia. In fact, the opposite is true. He just says that he has coached against Georgia before and his loyalties are now with Florida…..as they should be. So, therefore, maybe he isn’t the one who is the a$$hole. Maybe it is some Smaha in Jiggyland.

It may very well come down to special team play, and in that area, UGA has been a crushing disappointment. There’s every reason to believe that FL will take advantage of our lack of preparation, our poor coaching, and our bone-headed execution on special teams to eke out just enough points to win. Too bad. This should have been the year we brought home the W. Maybe we’ve turned it around during the off-week. Hope so.

Florida has NOT always had a bye before playing Georgia. A few years ago they did not have one and still won the game. Byes have nothing to do with winning or losing a game. In fact, I would rather Georgia have a bye and Florida not have one before this game. Now….the next reason Georgia has been losing lately is the refs. It has absolutely nothing to do with being outplayed and outcoached, does it? Well….yes it does….and the team that outplays and outcoaches the other on Saturday……guess what…..they will most likely win the game.

I certainly do not have a problem with Will Muschumps loyalty to his employer. I admire loyalty in an employee, great trait. There are too many employees who are just there for the money. Muschamp is there to do what he is paid to do, win games. However, I’m a bulldog who is glad he is at Florida. I do not admire his side line antics. The screaming and cussing at the officials should be addressed by the refs and they should give him an unsportsman like conduct foul. In that respect, he is an embarrassment to his employer and they should address his behavior. This is his first year as a head coach and at Florida so who knows how good a coach he will be in the future. I do not think that Weis will add anything of value.

Also, Florida has no running game, which means Georgia can pin their ears back and focus on getting Brantley. He wont finish the game.

UGA’s avg points per game : 32.3
FLA’s avg points per game : 26.9
UGA’s avg points given up per game: 20.4
FLA’s avg points given up per game : 18.9
Granted, FLA has played the likes of Bama & LSU, but they’ve also played the likes of FIU & UAB, so the stats are reasonable to hold up for being in the middle of the season.
On paper, UGA should win. But in reality I think it comes down to three things.
#1 – Can T. King actually catch the ball on ANY of those 10 – 12 vertical shots down field? If Mitchell makes it back, just throw it to him down-field, cause at this point King can’t get it done.
#2 – Can B. Walsh remember how to kick???? Seriously, you have one job dude, get it done.
#3 – Can Bobo resist the urge to ‘Protect the win’ in the 4th? Cause inevitably all he does is risk the win when he attempts this. Keep your foot on the gas Bobo! This fan base NEEDS to see trouncing of FLA after what we have endured the last 21 years.

Won’t even guess on this one. Both teams have some key injuries that might affect the game in a big way. For instance, just because Brantley can play, doesn’t mean he is 100%. Georgia’s O line is in for a big challenge. I don’t see us getting much if Murray is running for his life, and that has been the problem all year. If we could give him time he could pick most any defense apart, but even Tom Brady throws ints when he is under intense pressure. As you all know, this is UF’s biggest game of the year, and they always play their best against UGA. It will take a great game out of the whole team. I am interested to see what the D looks like. Hopefully, we will have our starters from the summer in for the first time all year in the second half. We’ll have to see if Tree is 100%. My new strategy: don’t expect much, and just watch the game and see what happens! It has worked pretty well since SC.

SEC, I think it is, but you never know. The relative calm since starting 0-2 will evaporate if we lose, I suspect. Another loss to UF, and we are likely looking at Coach Smart next year, but that is one fan’s guess. Look for a very fired up team to stomp into Jacksonville strap it on boys the war is almost here! UF bring it on everything you got because I guarantee you we are & MR take over the offense & let Bobo take care of QB’s if necessary do whatever it takes to win it & lets give WM something to really curse about & eat his words & his promise. and yes he is there to do a job but let us not forget or him that he is now coach at 1 of our most hated rivals!!I it is time for the tide to turn in this game so lets go make it happen!! Not two weeks ago, a customer came riding up at the job, and on the back was a twelve foot gaytor he killed below Savannah. Mind you, I don’t actually believe a word I’m saying, but until its proved wrong, I’m riding it out. Flash won’t win in this league any longer. Florida’s cupboard wasn’t stocked with a lot of physical talent. Flash and Dash doesn’t match up with LSU and Bama’s “smash n mash”. Defensively we might match up with LSU and Bama which could keep us within striking distance. Unfortuately our special teams if they continue as is would torpedo us. Our offense wouldn’t last 15 minutes against their defenses. Our players patting their heads would sound like a drum roll on the field.

After that first game I’ve been pleased with Bobo’s play calling so far this year. He’s mixed it up a little more than he used to. On paper this is an easy win. But it’s not like that. I’m old enough to remember dominating the swamp dwellers and I would rather beat Florida than anyone else we play; but, I can’t fault the reptilian crowd for gloating. It’s obvious UF has a psychological edge over the Dawgs year after year since the days of the Visor and they will have it until such time as UGA beats the Gators consistently, let’s say at least two in a row and 3 or 4 in a five year stretch. Murray admitted he was nervous last year as a freshman starter returning to his home state. Results speak for themselves, so let’s keep our mouths shut, take care of business this time and start a new trend.

Our defense will hold them under 20 points (or should)the question is can we score more than 20 with the play calling. That is unknown for now.”
Aaron Murray gave away the South Carolina game ? How about the Florida game LAST YEAR ? What about the Colorado game ? What about the Central Florida game ? How about the South Carolina game LAST YEAR ? How about the Missy State game last year ? Aaron Murray threw 3 interceptions and fumbled the ball vs Florida last year. Aaron Murray threw 2 interceptions vs Central Florida and no touchdowns. Aaron Murray also fumbled the ball vs Central Florida. He threw an interception and fumbled the ball vs Arkansas. He threw an interception and fumbled the ball vs Colorado. I agree Aaron Murray fumbled the ball 3 times vs South Carolina this season and he threw the pick 6, but he has done this from the beginning and continues. He threw an interception in the last game vs Vandie. He threw an interception vs Boise State. He threw 3 interceptions vs Missy State and fumbled the ball twice. He fumbled the ball twice vs Ole Miss. For his career he has 126 carries for 1 yards per rush, yet all these other college quarterbacks all do so much better. Why are we 11-9 with Aaron Murray as the Starting Quarterback and the only Quarterback ever inserted into the line-up every game ? And, all you can do is say he lost us the South Carolina game this year ? For real ?

Will Muschamp beat David Greene 2003 in Baton Rouge and he beat us like a red-headed step child in Atlanta 2003, then he lost to us ‘Tween the hedges David Green’s senior year 2004 by 16-45 – all as DC. Then, he lost to us twice as DC with Auburn 2006 and 2007. Why he wants to bring up that this is not his 1st time coaching against UGA, I could not guess. Seems like a stupid statement to me for him to bring it up and not finish his story because after the 1st 2 games, he has now lost 3 in a row to us. He is a defensive coordinator by trade and has been for 11 years in a row now. I would expect him to get after Aaron Murray and rattle him; Florida does match up well here if the game plan is that IC is still pouting about his SUSPENSION vs Vandie in the last game. In fact, I fully expect with the injuries and whatever the issue was to get SUSPENDED in the last game that Isaiah Crowell could very well be the difference in the game. We all know that Florida cannot pass the football and must run. We all know if IC is not into the game, and able-bodied and able-minded, the game is over. I suspect an all-out blitz package and rely on their secondary to cover man to man on the corners; they do match-up here. If this is why Las Vegas has picked Florida; I see nothing we can do about it if we cannot run the ball. You have to realize we are vulnerable to a pass defense like Florida and you have to realize that we are vulnerable ourselves in being able the run the football since our QB has not got the ability to run the ball the 7 carries a game he steals from the running backs. With all these ISSUES with Isaiah Crowell, many games in college boil down to the play of the QB. I, like many, am very concerned with Aaron Murray. He has been the better QB on the field head-to-head in many of his 9 losses in his 20 games; and has just been a no-show. I once said many years ago that Caleb King would cost Mark Richt his job; I fully believe that baton has been handed to 4.7 ( a lot slower than I am ) Aaron Murray. I expect Will Muschamp to go after Aaron Murray – not that he is great – but that by doing so, he insures his ABSOLUTE GUARANTEE that he EVENS his record vs UGA and gets his 1st win over us out of the last 4 games now. Nice point Will Muschamp; now, fail to get after Aaron Murray, and you will look like an idiot.

Does the tradition of going to Jacksonville being a better team “yet again” have the same cause of concern just like in the past? Remember that before Florida brought in Spurrier, Florida was getting ripped by Georgia. It wasnt until Florida actually Spurrier…… took a week off in preparation of the Georgia game.
Now we’;re both taking a week off and becoming more mentally prepared.
Georgia its all 100% mental.
Even Alabama had a worst year last year not only because of Auburns rise but in the fact that they played 6 teams that had a week off before facing a menacing team.
The most in the NCAA infact and it showed in Bamas record as well. New Coach, New Quarterback, New Alignments, New positions.
Georgia wins this game 34-17 hands down, theyre mentally prepared, focused, healed, and know whats at stake. Everyone is expecting the same ol’ same ol’ but that was a star QB ago, a star Head Coach ago, lots of seniors graduating and at a neutral site.
Florida has lost by 28 pts. to Bama, 30 pts. to LSU, 11 pts to Auburn team and barely beat Tennessee by 10 pts.
Florida has no identity anymore, no game breakers, sorry whiney fans from last year and their about to be 4-4. Now drink that down with your gatorade and stop whining.
Your glory days are finished there, Florida State out recruiting you and now S. Florida.
The only thing youre gonna be doing saturday is trying to flap your arms to find a way to fly out of the
stadium.
How does it feel to sit there in the bleachers getting blown out by decent teams and barely beating mediocre ones? What comes around, goes around. You got alot more years like this one ahead of you and i expect the next 5 years you’;ll be looking up in the standings trying to remember the glory days when you were 1st. and now being 3rd or 4th really gets you choked up.
The Ghost of Spurrier is upon you now. He’s getting back his revenge for what you did and its not pretty.

Tampa Gator,
You can say anything you like but that 2008 game turned on several turnovers, missed opportunities and bad officiating that benefited the Gators as the SEC Officials were still openly punishing the Dawgs for the incident in 2007. It isn’t that Coach Richt hasn’t put enough emphasis on this game. In fact he has been extremely uptight and that has led to his teams playing tight and not to lose and has led to the Dawgs losing at least 4 games that they should have won IMHO.

What bothers me the most about the Georgia football program can be summed up easily.
Some programs can’t wait to play against the best team, the most dominating team, the strongest team. They know it will be a battle, and a severe test, and they can’t wait for the chance to prove themselves against such competition.
Win or lose, they look forward to the highest level of competition, and plan to be competitive on that stage. They look forward to the test, and want the competition to be at its best, playing well, to show that their team can beat the best, or at least hang with them until the final play.
What does Georgia hope for?
We seem to hope that our opponents have players out of the game, or injured, or a down year, or a crappy new coach, or some other fatal flaw so that we have a chance against an inferior opponent.
We seem to want to sneak in the back door, rather than to storm the gates.
Pathetic!
Is there anyone on this blog saying, “I can’t wait to get to Atlanta so we can play a great Alabama team, and prove just how good we are, or go down fighting to the last second in an heroic attempt to win. It’ll be a great game. Win or lose, we will be on a national stage, competing against a great opponent.”
No, that’s not what we hear here. We’re just hoping Florida has a bad team this year so we have a chance to *maybe* come out alive. We hope South Caroline chokes so we *maybe* can sneak into the SEC East title, before getting our butts kicked in Atlanta.
Don’t we all really know that our football program has been in shambles for years?
Why?
One of the many other things that worries me about this game is the evident fact that Georgia tends to play down to the opponent’s level. Yes, Florida is not that good this year, as compared with Florida teams of the recent memory. Is our football team that much better?
We certainly have a reasonable level of talent – as compared with this Florida team – but that does not mean we’ve got any reason to be sure of a victory in Jacksonville.
Which of the crummy teams we’ve played so far have resulted in easy, or convincing victories for the Dawgs? Where have we dominated? What makes anyone thing this UGA football team is all that much better than Vandy, or Tennessee, or the Mississippi teams? Yeah, we beat them, but did we dominate?
It would be easy enough to make the case that Florida has a very good chance of beating Georgia this Saturday. I prefer not to do so.
The game will be likely to come down to the basics. Which team plays sound, fundamental football, with good blocking, and good tackling? Which team has the fewest turnovers? Which team controls the clock? Which team’s coaches, and players make the best decisions, and the fewest errors?
Do we have a coaching staff that can produce a team that can beat a crummy Florida on a down year? My gosh, we’re asking questions such as that.
If we had the coaches we should have we’d be trying hard not to look beyond Florida, and Auburn, and Tech, because we’d be chomping at the bit waiting to play for the SEC Title.
Such is the state of our football program that none of us can really be sure of beating anyone.
But we do have something to look forward to after the Florida game.
Maybe we’ll get a chance this year to have a rematch with whatever that loser team was we lost to in last year’s fabulous bowl game!

Muschamp should be inducted to the GA/FL Hall of Fame…. For the Gators!!! Chris Doering and Stever Spurrier hung 50+ on UGA two straight years. One time in Gainesville and the other in Athens. Mushchamp was an embarrassment to UGA and he is actually the waste of ink… for us having to print his name in a media guide. Muschamp was so bad his fellow UGA classmates threw hash browns at him the night of the UGA/UF game in Athens. He hated the Gators then and I still think he does today. The Gators are just giving him a big check.
I would predict UGA beat UF 50-0 but I have NO confidence in our offense or our special teams. When we punt or receive a punt I am going to be closing my eyes. We better be ready for anything.

CMR has never done well when facing a defensive coordinator with NFL experience. They seem to force Georgia’s receiver to the middle of the field taking away the hash mark to sideline angles and routes CMR seems confortable with and known for. In recent years Georgia receivers seem to shy away from contact over the middle. This year will be the exception in my opinion as I see Orson Charle having a really breakout game. If Georgia gets OC involved early Florida’s linebacker will have to take normal drops and weakside saftey will be forced to sit in the middle of the field for support which will open up those sidline routes CMR loves. These young DAWGS don’t care about the history of the series because they are trying to establish an identity of their own. They will beat Florida because UGA has the better players than Florida does. Sure, UGA hasn’t had a great deal of success lately, but this is a new bunch of players, with an entirely different mindset than the previous team from last year even. Gone are the Downer DAWGS and in their place are a bunch of hungry young kids that have shown improvement each week. Yes, we have the same old OC, but he has made some changes, and I don’t think you will see them play conservative in the second half. Vanderbilt showed how that can back fire real quick.
If you control the two Rb’s they have, you control Florida’s offense. Brantley hasn’t proven to be a reliable QB for the most part for Florida no matter how the Mush Man, wants to spin it. Give the man, happy feet, and he becomes very erratic. We have the defensive front line that will keep pressure on them all day long, and our LB’s can seal the ends up. Our secondary, shouldn’t have a big problem with Brantley at QB, since they are fast and can tackle with reliability. I believe we learned from the Boise game and you do not see teams being able to gain a lot of yards by throwing across the middle and dinking UGA to death like you did the first game.
I know there will be a bunch of negative responses to this post, but if you feel you must respond, use the facts about this years team. Don’t bring up past performances because they have little bearing on this team, UGA fields this year. Please spare the sarcasm because that just shows immaturity on your part. Don’t bother with statistics over 20 years, or statistics that can just as easily be turned around to make a positive statement for UGA, or for that fact any team. In other words, if you are going to try and be a smart a**, at least have a logical argument instead of your usual dribble, and hate filled trash. Just do a comparison of the two teams if you want to use statistics, and make them meaningful statistics. By now, everybody who supports the DAWGS has seen it all, and it doesn’t seem to have had much of an effect on these young men. At least if you insist on being a moron, come up with some original material, based on facts, not fiction, concerning this years team. One thing these kids do know, is how important this game is for their chances to get the Division title, and they will be ready to play.

Have you ever noticed that when Muschump starts going nuts on the sideline, he looks like he would be better fitted with a chearleader skirt on?

Florida run defense not that great.
Our QB is better and more healthy
Our defense gets its best player back plus Washington
florida O line is not that great
Our O line is actually getting better
For the first time in awhile, we should be favored to win.
The mental hurdle is the biggest challenge.

Correct on all counts Lex. This game does favor UGA. Can they overcome the mental aspects? Surely possibly, since, as was mentioned before on here, most of these kids aren’t even thinking about the historical elements of this game.

mihich, dude, if you have some information that isn’t flawed, share it but otherwise lay low. Crowell is too small to carry more than 15 times? Same size as Trent Richardson and Spencer Ware and bigger than Michael Dyer.

muschamp will lay down for the dawgs. once a dawg always a dawg. vince dooley did the same thing against his alma mater resulting in a overall losing career record with auburn as the uga head coach.

No way. Richardson has least 15 lbs on him. That’s 15 lbs of muscle. No way Crowell runs through those same tackles Richardson ran through in the second half against TN. Maybe you’re thinking of Carlton Thomas TampaDawg. Now, there’s a big ‘ole sombi_ch. Hope you don’t waste your $$ coming up from Hillsborough Co. In fact, why don’t you save those $$ and buy me a VIP room at the Mons instead.

Well this is my 21st yr in a row going to this game ( Including the home and home yrs) we know what happen there. But anyway I think Georgia has some different things that maybe surprise everybody this Sat. on off. I see Boykin , Smith ,getting in the mix I think Bobo will open it up even though it’s been vanilla lately . Georgia’s got to win this game to many things a stake , SEC east , Good bowl ETC ( COAHING CHANGE NOT ) . GO DAWGS !!!!!

funny . . .: I think Georgia’s defense has a distinct advantage because of Florida’s quarterback situation. With Brantley the Gators have a more experienced quarterback who can expand the play-calling possibilities and give you a more legitimate pass threat. On the other hand, just returning to practice this week (allegedly) his mobility most certainly will be affected and the Bulldogs’ pass rush will certainly come after him. Conversely, the alternatives to Brantley are less effective passers and more limited calls but probably a more athletic challenge to defend. Either way favors Georgia’s defense.

Muschamp is a professional coach. Where he played football makes no difference. He was hired for his abilities as a coach, not for where he played football fifteen + years ago. Mark Richt played at Miami, a long long time ago. If Georgia played Miami he would still be expected to do what he was professionally hired to do and that is lead Georgia to victory over the opponent, regardless of who that is. It is almost as if some people think a coach should recuse himself from playing his alma mater or that he would somehow not approach that game in the same way he would any other because he is playing his alma mater. In fact I would suggest that it might be all the more reason for him to succeed against his alma mater, to do her proud.

We are not like those losers at UGA Muschamp lose 2 straight to Georgia and you are out of Florida, we dont wait till a coach past his prime and debate for 5 years should he be given the boot.
Ths is why Florida has 3 Nat in 20 years and UGA since 1980 when Ronald Reagan was in the white house.

You are right Muschamp. A lot of wasted ink about you. Turns out, you are really not the great coach everyone thought you are and basically will not be able to fill Urban Lier’s shoes, much less Mack Brown, and certainly Coach Richt. Have fun losing to the Dawgs this year and years to come.

I’m a Gator, but I try to call things as they are most of the time. This is a rough year for the Orange and Blue. Bulldogs always deserve respect. No matter how great you think you are, you can’t always win. This game, this time around will be interesting, but it’s almost as if the Dawg was attacking an injured Gator. Odds might be slightly in favor of the Dawg, but only depending on bad the Gator is hurt. Sometimes when you’re injured, you fight back even harder.

I never understood why Tebow’s injury was an excuse to lose to the Dawgs. Considering that DJ Shockley sat on the sidelines for four whole quarters watching Joe Tereshinsky III lose by 5 on the last play the year previous.

He should have his UGA degree revoked and taken away. Not because he’s coaching fl, but just
because he has no respect towards the college that made him who he is today and he’s seems
to be a first rate jerk.

I hope UGA wins. But they have not played a complete game yet this season. They still have not won a game of any substance against a true good opponent in years. Hell, it was a miracle they won at Vanderbuilt! This has to be a worry. Mitchell is out and 2 stoopid defensive players are out for the 1st half and Brantley is back for UF. UGA has CMR and CMB. UF has CWM and CCW. I hope UGA wins, but UF probably wins this one again and we can kiss CMR goodbye finally.

Brantley….five touchdowns, three interceptions and a 64.7 completion percentage
Muschamp said of Brantley, “He told me back then (after the injury), he said, ‘I want to get back for Georgia.’ It’s important to John…There’s no question that he really pinpointed trying to get back for this game.”
Meanwhile, Murray leads the SEC with 16 TD passes (60% completion rate; 7 INTs)
The Bulldogs are sixth in the nation in total defense; second in the SEC (behind Ala) in 3rd down defense.
I.Crowell 4.8 yd avg; C.Thomas 5.0 yd avg

I remember MusChump as a player at UGA. When the game was on the line he wiffed on the tackle…. costing Georgia the game. Saying that playing for UGA was no big deal and he has no loyalty to Georgia is a disgrace…. he has wiffed again.
