Dangerous Vanderbilt team awaits Bulldogs in Nashville

Heading over to Georgia for coach Mark Richt’s weekly press conference and player interviews. Let me know if you have some (reasonable) questions for which you’d like to get answers.

We’re at the halfway point of the season so we’re starting to see some trends statistically and otherwise. The Bulldogs are 4-2 overall and tied for the SEC’s Eastern Division lead with a 3-1 record. They lost to the two best teams they played and then won the next four games they were expected to win in relatively comfortable fashion. So I don’t know if we’re sure just yet how good Georgia is.

The rest of the season sets up well for the Dogs. But don’t discount this next game at Vanderbilt. This is no ordinary Commodores team. They have some offensive issues and are unsettled at quarterback. But they feature some playmakers and are stout on defense, and I think we’ve seen in Georgia just how effective that can be.

In the meantime, we have some questions we need to ask you. . . .

Georgia Tech won’t host Georgia until Nov. 26. But if you’re like us, you can’t help but be looking ahead to that intriguing matchup. Here’s what we want you to do:

Tell us your favorite play in the rivalry and the AJC will try to track down the players involved and tell you what they remember about that game and what they are doing now. Please send an email to Doug Roberson at droberson@ajc.com describing your favorite play in the series and why. Just one per reader, please.

What im saying is this. Our receivers, other than MM and OC, NEED TO STEP UP. AM is looking to those two way too much, and defenses are catching on to that.

ARdawg,
Ark losing Davis hurt them the most. But these things happen. I think UGA is getting better this year, we’ll see the UF game, even though UF isn’t great to me that will be the telling game. I do think ARK beats SC. and UGA goes to the dome. Go Dawgs!!!

Unlike most teams Georgia has on its team bus the talent to beat any team in the country. Get that running game going and you can wear a talent thin team like Vandy down, try stupid passes, makes lots of penalties and you let them in the game. It is a mind set and 3rd and 56 is not part of that mind set.

That’s seriously messed up that someone is standing behind you with a gun, making you post on a UGA thread. If you drop us some hints on where they’re keeping you, we can try to get the authorities involved on your behalf.

Jason, 15 wins i since 1957 isn’t going to get any better for tech, another loss for tech this year , All pumped up beating nobodys, tech would be ahead of kentucky in the east. ahead of ole miss in the west, tech has a couple of players that would make the depth chart at most SEC schools. Tevin wouldn’t be starting QB for Vandy, and vandy has a better defense. Now go where tech and ACC football are relevant , like the wake an duke boards.Tech is the most overrated team in the country.

Why do you continue to repeat what you’ve read or heard somewhere else. You are right about one thing all is not right in Athens, But i will be glad when it is so we don’t have to hear from you anymore.

Question for Bobo: Have you developed a play for 3rd and 57?

Good to see the Dawgs back on track. I think if the Boise and SC games were scattered in the middle of the season then at least one of those would be a win. Just don’t overlook Vandy by looking ahead to FL & AU. We were only up 14-0 at halftime because we started slow and they have a better defense than you might think.

If we meet up in the GA Dome then the first round is on me at Jocks & Jills. Stay thirsty my friends!

Not Complacent, Ark has no real running threat and cant stop the run, their secondary is average and the LB are average. A great QB and better than average recievers. But the defense is very questionable.

How do ya’ll feel about LSU? Bama’s D is better by far and running game, but We’ve only seen one guy able to catch the long pass. I think saban is a better coach, but LSU is loaded with tallent.

They were heavily reliant on Davis to help Tyler Wilson mature. That kid is going to smoke Mallet in production and efficiency. They lost that and the remaining RBs aren’t getting it done where it matters the most.

I think the FL will tell us a lot maybe not as much as the AU game might. I think AU is better than FL. As Bama and LSU proved, take Rainey and Demps away and FL has little to nothing

Chip, I think the question as to how good a team is at any given point in the season is almost irrelevant. I see this question posed by columnists all the time once the season is under way. We’ve seen some UGA trams disintegrate as the season progressed (like in last year) and we’ve seen other teams come together and look to be a dominant force by the end of the season (like the ‘07 team?).

The point is, the season is a journey and opinions can change rapidly from game to game. What say we enjoy the ride and not worry about the future… that’s coach Richt’s job.

And that’s very reassuring in a world gone mad.

The truth, Marylands defense did a pretty decent job on Tech offense,(Temple 38 Maryland 7) I think the #6 defense in the nation will do a bit better, UGA beats tech by 10 or more points easy, may not be that close. Tech doesn’t have the (talent) players to play with better teams it will show in the coming weeks. But I agree Vandy is well coached and shouldn’t be overlooked. Vandy and tech would be a good bowl game.

yeah last time we heard all this tech high scoring Offense stuff UGA sgut them down anf beat them down bad by rushing for over 400 yards. Tech will be lucky to score 14 on the Dawgs.

I think no one gave enough credit to Davis, but yeah if he played, I’d take Ark over LSU. But one player can make a team. Don’t get me started on LSU’S last NC… If UGA had played them for the SEC title they would have had 3 loses that year. UGA just didn’t get it together til mid season.
Go Dawgs!!!

Following the Jan Kemp trial, the UGA president, Dr. Fred C. Davison,
resigned in disgrace in March 1986. The board of regents of the University

student-athletes.

So it’s a toss up between two crowds:

1. The crowd that says UGA has had an easy schedule thus far and relatively easy the rest of the way out. Usually Tech fans who are trying to justify their own pitiful schedule.

2. The crowd that comes on here ALL THE TIME and says “UGA will lose to MSU”, or “UGA will get beat by UT in Knoxville”, or this week, “a much tougher Vandy team than expected will beat the dogs. Then after UGA wins that particular game, their tone changes to “well MSU is a really weak team” or “the Vols have no talent anyway”, or my favorite come Monday will be “it’s still just Vandy”.
These are some Tech trolls and all the other trolls from different teams (aside from a few with class).

Bottom line, UGA plays who is on their schedule (still a tougher schedule than Tech’s) and the wins and losses will be calculated at the end of the year.

On behalf of the Dawg fans on this post, I would like to thank Elise for her reminder of a 30 year old incident. While not delving into anything in the past 10-15 years, she would like to dig up something, anything on UGA so she goes back 30 years. Funny, most any other team represented on here by trolls would have things much more recent to comment on but hey, let’s not do that shall we.

But at least she isn’t like Kaitlyn who flat out throws comments on the board without any facts to back it up.

GTBob, ok, now you are typically one of those GT fans who gets on here and can have a sensible discussion. That being said, I would certainly bet that SC (which admittedly, did beat UGA), UT and MSU could beat the 3 ACC teams that GT has played. The point of the post though was this: We hear on here all the time about whatever team is coming up is going to beat UGA but after the game and a UGA win, they backtrack with “well, they are just a bad team”. Even with a weak schedule this year for UGA, I would still put that strength of schedule over ANY ACC schedule. FSU looked good to start the year but has fallen to the same fate that UF did losing their starting QB.

Clemson looks pretty good and I think will be the ACC team that will beat Tech. Vtech doesn’t look good at all. What’s left? Miami, Virginia and Duke. I would put Ole Miss up on Virginia, Duke and Maryland .. maybe even Miami and NC State.

To the multihandled poster mentioning Jan Kemp (I believe that’s what we all should refer to as from now on) — The one thing I am sure of is that you are the only person reading this blog that cares in any way, shape, or form about the remedial studies Jan Kemp non-story. You post the same garbage under 17 different handles everyday, thinking you’re fooling everyone, similar in context to the old Saint Simons or m or some other spineless turd who has never resurfaced since UGA won in 2009 because he is too cheeken sheet to face the music — that UGA owns your school on the football field. You can’t stand it. So you think you’re so clever disguising yourself trying to con UGA blog readers into believing there is something to be ashamed of. It’s really really sad. We all know you are an old geezer, maybe retired maybe not, who is extremely unhappy with the way his life has turned out and longs for the day when GT had a good team and could beat UGA regularly. Guess what? Those days are long gone, gramps.

So keep it up. I love the fact that no matter how much our team has struggled recently, we are still whipping Tech soundly when it matters and it drives you insane. Keep up the posts so we can all sit back and smile and laugh knowing just how obsessed you are with UGA and just how jealous you really are of all of us. It just gives us pleasure and will make the next whipping all the more enjoyable.

Have a great day!

P.S. Are you really stupid enough to believe that Reggie Ball could pass calculus at Tech? #s 1-4 were more than he could handle. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
