No war of words between Bacarri Rambo, Da’Rick Rogers this time around

Remember when Da’Rick Rogers’ was a Georgia commitment? The wide receiver from Calhoun was actually committed to the Bulldogs for seven months, in fact. But, as we all know now, Rogers reneged on his commitment in January of 2010 and signed instead with Tennessee. And the Vols are especially happy about that these days.

Those of us who saw him play in high school aren’t surprised to see that Rogers is now the Vols’ leading receiver. I was covering college recruiting for the AJC at the time and I rated Rogers as the No. 1 prospect in the state that year, so I’ve always thought highly of his football abilities. He remains the best high school receiver I’ve ever personally watched.

Rambo

Rambo

Thanks in part to the loss of fellow receiver Justin Hunter to a season-ending knee injury in the Florida game, Rogers (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) is now quarterback Tyler Bray’s primary receiver. He is currently second in the SEC in receptions (27), receiving yards (442) and receptions per game (6.8). In the Vols’ last game against Buffalo, Rogers had 180 yards receiving, which was his third 100-plus game of 2011.

Back to Rogers’ flip-flop. If you’ll recall, it caused a brief war of words via social media between Rogers and Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo. It started a few days after national signing day in February of 2010 when Rambo posted a message to Rogers on his Facebook status.

  • “Bacarri Rambo thinks it’s messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you,” Rambo wrote
  • Rogers responded via Twitter:  “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”
  • Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘Pretty Boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”
  • Then from Rogers: “Don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”
  • Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should I worry about that guy?”

Rambo was reminded of that exchange with Rogers after Georgia’s practice Tuesday night.

“We haven’t said anything to each other [this year],” Rambo said. “I got over it. That’s in the past and I haven’t said anything else to him about that.”

Rogers concurred. Asked if he’d sent any private or public messages to Rambo, Rogers said, “No, none at all,” he said

You could say Rambo got the better end of the deal in last year’s game between Georgia and Tennessee between the hedges. The Bulldogs won 41-14, Rogers had just one catch for minus-3 yards and Rambo had an interception.

Rambo resisted the urge to gloat and spoke very respectfully about Rogers this time around.

“That’s in the past, too,” Rambo said of last year’s game. “Hopefully I can get some more interceptions this week. We’ve just got to do a great job of holding that guy. He has matured and gotten more experience and been more productive this season and he has a good quarterback throwing the ball to him. So we have to be heads up and slow those two down and try to keep him from catching balls and making big plays. So we’ve got a tough test this week.”

I talked to Rogers (along with Bray) on a teleconference call later this morning. CLICK HERE to read my Q&A with Rogers.

50k, are you serious? Not only have you plateaued for a UGA grad, but you’d be in the lower 20% when compared to GT grads.

But be happy with what you have. Ignorance is bliss.

GT will not be favored against Clemson! They will not beat Clemson, they won’t beat UGA, hell, they may not even beat VT. National Title? Apparently there is a crack problem in Atlanta.

You are clearly one of the retard Yeck fans. The best man at my wedding is a die hard Yechie, even he says that your schedule is a joke (Rivals that of a non AQ school schedule). He agrees that you will lose 2-3 this year no questions, Clemson and UGA, with VT being a maybe.

You call us UGA homers, look at yourself in the mirror retard. No go do your school a favor and turn yourself in for raping those ppl!

And i love how you point out the coaches poll, when it is widely talked about that almost NO coaches actually fill that out. They give it to an Admin to fill out for them however they want, hence why it is the smallest factor of the formula you idiot.

Durrrrrrrrrrrrrr Durrrrrr Why does no one take us seriously, I mean we are nerds everyone should believe everyhting we say? Durrr Durrr I just dont get it. We are 5-0 and the more superior UGA is only 3-2 but they still get more respect than we do, Its not fair (Stomps foot like angry 6 yeard old girl who didnt get the barbie dreamhouse).

Simplifying the formula
The percentage totals of the Harris Interactive Poll, USA Today Poll, and the computer rankings are then averaged. The teams’ averages are ranked to produce the BCS Standings.
A = Team is No. 1 in Harris Poll with all voters = 1.000
B = Same team is No. 1 in Coaches Poll with all voters = 1.000
C = Same team is No. 3 in Computer Rankings = 0.920
Result: (A+B+C)/3 = Total Score of 0.9733

Computer rankings weigh exactly the same as either poll individually.

So tech will play 5 ranked teams, which almost every single SEC team does. In the west they have to play 2 of the top 3, does tech do that???

O wait thats right they play in the ACC that is lucky to have any ranked teams and to have a BCS bowl attached to their championsip game. ACC will be a non AQ school when the super conferences form!

I hear ya on the polls Joke, but the fact is, at the end of the year, it’s all we have to go off of. BCS uses it but based again on strength of schedule, GT has NO SHOT at a NC. The only way they do is if Clemson wins out other than GT, FSU wins out but loses to GT in the ACC title game or something like that. This assuming that GT wins out as well which .. well that won’t happen anymore than FSU winning out.

You’re still the joke! Most all of the teams in the ACC should be ranked by years end. Miami will be once Harris really gets going again. VT and Clemson will get beat by GT by 4 TDs. UGA has no chance this year (but they won’t be ranked anyway).
