Da'Rick Rogers cruises into the end zone for a touchdown against Buffalo, one of six he has scored this season. (AP photo)
Remember when Da’Rick Rogers’ was a Georgia commitment? The wide receiver from Calhoun was actually committed to the Bulldogs for seven months, in fact. But, as we all know now, Rogers reneged on his commitment in January of 2010 and signed instead with Tennessee. And the Vols are especially happy about that these days.
Those of us who saw him play in high school aren’t surprised to see that Rogers is now the Vols’ leading receiver. I was covering college recruiting for the AJC at the time and I rated Rogers as the No. 1 prospect in the state that year, so I’ve always thought highly of his football abilities. He remains the best high school receiver I’ve ever personally watched.

Rambo
Thanks in part to the loss of fellow receiver Justin Hunter to a season-ending knee injury in the Florida game, Rogers (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) is now quarterback Tyler Bray’s primary receiver. He is currently second in the SEC in receptions (27), receiving yards (442) and receptions per game (6.8). In the Vols’ last game against Buffalo, Rogers had 180 yards receiving, which was his third 100-plus game of 2011.
Back to Rogers’ flip-flop. If you’ll recall, it caused a brief war of words via social media between Rogers and Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo. It started a few days after national signing day in February of 2010 when Rambo posted a message to Rogers on his Facebook status.
Rambo was reminded of that exchange with Rogers after Georgia’s practice Tuesday night.
“We haven’t said anything to each other [this year],” Rambo said. “I got over it. That’s in the past and I haven’t said anything else to him about that.”
Rogers concurred. Asked if he’d sent any private or public messages to Rambo, Rogers said, “No, none at all,” he said
You could say Rambo got the better end of the deal in last year’s game between Georgia and Tennessee between the hedges. The Bulldogs won 41-14, Rogers had just one catch for minus-3 yards and Rambo had an interception.
Rambo resisted the urge to gloat and spoke very respectfully about Rogers this time around.
“That’s in the past, too,” Rambo said of last year’s game. “Hopefully I can get some more interceptions this week. We’ve just got to do a great job of holding that guy. He has matured and gotten more experience and been more productive this season and he has a good quarterback throwing the ball to him. So we have to be heads up and slow those two down and try to keep him from catching balls and making big plays. So we’ve got a tough test this week.”
I talked to Rogers (along with Bray) on a teleconference call later this morning. CLICK HERE to read my Q&A with Rogers.

Beating his chest because he is ranked #13
Guess what no one cares GT Joe just like I try to tell some of the UGA fans no one cares about 10 win seasons
Its who wins the conference and national titles
But hey I know being in the top 20 is something new and exciting for you. Dont let it go to your head though.
Remember Tech is due to play in another major bowl in 37 yrs and lose to UGA again this year
Bobby Bu Shay Stadium should be rockin and rolling against another powerhouse opponent in Maryland this Sat
Tough schedule there; is anyone ranked that mighty #13 Tech plays this year except Clemson dont worry VT wont be ranked for long

BMDPD: There are two 2-loss teams in the Coaches poll top 25. UGA is not one of them. In fact, UGA did not get a single vote in the Coaches poll. 42 other teams DID get votes.
So again, the coaches don’t care about all your fans, your big stadium, OR your “tough schedule”. FSU and TAM have 2 losses, apparently their schedules were tougher than yours?
FYI, we’d destroy USC. Navy almost beat them, same offense, much lower talent. As for Boise? Come on, a Mountain West team? Sorry, no.

Hey “Classy”, “I’ve heard UGA fans (and players) say that if he didn’t want to play for UGA, then they didn’t want or need him.” where did you hear that from? Didn’t hear it on here the last 2 years. We would have taken him sure, but he went elsewhere because his boy rigged a package deal. We didn’t want his buddy Nash.

GT Joe, easy to sit back and say you would “destroy USC” or BSU when you don’t have to play them. Cause your sorry program doesn’t have the guts to schedule OOC games anymore. At least not for another 6 years.

Flat Tire: all you care about is titles? What team in Georgia has a shot at a national title, andconference title, and a division title? Georgia Tech.
UNC was #24 when we thumped them. They’ll re-enter this week.

GT Joe, Boise State would kill Tech! Aaron Murray gift wrapped the game and gave it to South Carolina. Regardless, we are still better than Tech. You will find that out in the not to distant future. Enjoy your success. I am not sure you would be South Carolina or Navy for that matter.

Sorry Tampa, you clearly don’t watch tech games. Our offense is the most exciting to watch in ALL of CFB.
Tech has half the enrollment, half the alumni, so you would expect half the attendance compared to UGA. It’s really not complicated folks. Comparing apples to oranges. But i guess mutts have to be proud of SOMETHING this season.

GT JOe, the coaches poll is the ESPN poll and NO, UNC was NOT RANKED in that poll when GT played them (GT was number 25). And if by “thumped” you mean, had to escape with a late 4th quarter TD, then you yes, you thumped them.

Comparing apples to oranges really LOL
Get one thing straight moron
UGA, Tech and every other college football program has way more fans that did not attend their favorite school than fans who did
Again GT is right in the middle of 5.6 million people and you cannot even fill a high school sized stadium
That means your irrelevant in your own hometown
So I guess the 74000 that fill the Ga Dome on Sunday means those fans played or worked for the Falcons organization at some point right
