Da'Rick Rogers cruises into the end zone for a touchdown against Buffalo, one of six he has scored this season. (AP photo)
Remember when Da’Rick Rogers’ was a Georgia commitment? The wide receiver from Calhoun was actually committed to the Bulldogs for seven months, in fact. But, as we all know now, Rogers reneged on his commitment in January of 2010 and signed instead with Tennessee. And the Vols are especially happy about that these days.
Those of us who saw him play in high school aren’t surprised to see that Rogers is now the Vols’ leading receiver. I was covering college recruiting for the AJC at the time and I rated Rogers as the No. 1 prospect in the state that year, so I’ve always thought highly of his football abilities. He remains the best high school receiver I’ve ever personally watched.

Rambo
Thanks in part to the loss of fellow receiver Justin Hunter to a season-ending knee injury in the Florida game, Rogers (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) is now quarterback Tyler Bray’s primary receiver. He is currently second in the SEC in receptions (27), receiving yards (442) and receptions per game (6.8). In the Vols’ last game against Buffalo, Rogers had 180 yards receiving, which was his third 100-plus game of 2011.
Back to Rogers’ flip-flop. If you’ll recall, it caused a brief war of words via social media between Rogers and Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo. It started a few days after national signing day in February of 2010 when Rambo posted a message to Rogers on his Facebook status.
Rambo was reminded of that exchange with Rogers after Georgia’s practice Tuesday night.
“We haven’t said anything to each other [this year],” Rambo said. “I got over it. That’s in the past and I haven’t said anything else to him about that.”
Rogers concurred. Asked if he’d sent any private or public messages to Rambo, Rogers said, “No, none at all,” he said
You could say Rambo got the better end of the deal in last year’s game between Georgia and Tennessee between the hedges. The Bulldogs won 41-14, Rogers had just one catch for minus-3 yards and Rambo had an interception.
Rambo resisted the urge to gloat and spoke very respectfully about Rogers this time around.
“That’s in the past, too,” Rambo said of last year’s game. “Hopefully I can get some more interceptions this week. We’ve just got to do a great job of holding that guy. He has matured and gotten more experience and been more productive this season and he has a good quarterback throwing the ball to him. So we have to be heads up and slow those two down and try to keep him from catching balls and making big plays. So we’ve got a tough test this week.”
I talked to Rogers (along with Bray) on a teleconference call later this morning. CLICK HERE to read my Q&A with Rogers.

Poole will rush for 100 or more !
————————–
You mean the guy who couldn’t even average 5 per carry against Montana and Cincinnati is going to run for 100+ on a team that held Miss St. to a lower rushing total than Auburn and the insane defense of LSU? Still laughing.

This is the game where Grantham and Bobo better be on the same page.
UT has no running game
We can control the clock by running the ball
Keep the ball away from Bray(hey, that rhymes)
End every possession with a kick(EP,FG,Punt)
This will show me if we have really improved.

No, Poole will NOT have 100 yards. Poole is the next Caleb King at best. The guy got 18 yards against UF, might get 30 against UGA if he really tries hard.

AGAINST BUFFALO .. and you want to call someone a homer? It was 101 yards, not 118, it was his first game averaging over 5 per carry and he was 1 wittle TD all year and that was in game 1 against that powerhouse Cincinnati. Homers? Find a mirror!

Good comment about why Nash Nance’s name was not mentioned in the article. The 2fer deal of Nash/Rogers was the only reason why tennessee got Rogers anyway. Good thing for Georgia as it worked out that way because Hutson Mason is a much better Quarterback candidate than Nash will ever be. Go Dogs!!

I’m not a stats guy; but since you asked I had 5 catches for 62 yards. Don’t hate on me, all I can do is catch them when they throw it my way. Whatever point you are trying to make is futile. Cmon, you can hit me harder than that. By the way, I going to spank you because I still your Daddy. It’s called a Father’s love.

Doesn’t matter much….Aaron Murray will choke and break our hearts once again. I REPEAT.
1. He has yet to win a big game.
2. He has yet to beat a team with a winning record.
3. He has yet to lead a game winning 4th Quarter Drive.
4. This year he is not looking at his 2nd and 3rd Receivers. The defense will know where he is passing as soon as he drops back.
Murray will literally hand deliver the game to the Vols.

Just don’t come to Knoxville and lay an egg…..or a basketful for that matter! Keep pounding their defense, wear them to a nub. Tell Tyler Bray to go buy a ticket and watch the game! If you give him a lot of time to set up, he’ll beat you to death with the pass and……that is of course his strongest weapon. Linebackers, you can’t play the line too shallow or Tauren Poole will run right thru you. They’re working on their run game. The Vols are about as hungry as the Dawgs are. Most of their plays are the long ball. Bacarri and Sanders will just have to stay with it! GO DAWGS!!!

“Rocky Top” The only fight song in college football that fans clog to. They really sound like hayseeds when they sing it. Don’t know why they can’t realize that the entire country is laughing at them when they play it over and over and over again. And Vowels, here’s a tip, you can wear too much orange and have too much UT stuff on your 20-year-old pickup.
