An athlete is not paid on how he won the big tourney back in 2002 or 2004 or 2005. He is paid on his RECENT accomplishments or he leaves the sport. This is true of execs, sales managers, sales pros, jockeys, etc.

CMR holds his future in his hands. Win, and he has a job for another week. Win all the way to the Dome and he can lose to LSU or Bama and he WILL STILL have a fabulous job. A NY Day bolwltrip seals his fate for longevity.

Question is …………………. IS CMR HAPPY still coaching?? Hmmmm???

MSU is owed and we had better win and win big.

Goooooooooooooooooooo GEORGIA BULLDOGS !!!

I for one thinks that Coach is on the right track for getting things turned around. If by chance he doesn’t get it done then I would place a heavy bet that he has already been contacted by North Carolina and Miami to coach at either one of those places next year.

No one is contacting Richt or Bobo at this time. That would be stupid. As for this being a must win game, why is that surprising. Do you think Saban views any games as okay to lose. Upsurd. Richt goes into each game needing to win it as does every other SEC coach.

Its also true that no single loss will get one of these coaches fired. Its the culmination of their work and more importantly, does the AD think the coach will bring future success. Georgia needs to decide if Richt is their man for 2012, and they won’t make that decision until after the season. In the mean time, SEC game day pressure is pressure enough.

@ gdawginkalamazoo: I agree with you. CMR is obviously getting the warning, but we have to give him a chance to right the ship. He does need to focus on the O-Line this recruiting class and I think that will help determine if he’ll be back. Georgian’s don’t like to lose their home-grown talent to other SEC schools and he needs a great O-Line class.

Mark:

The pressure of the SEC is rigorous enough (as you stated) but don’t think for a minute CMR doesn’t feel more pressure than Saban right now. There is a reason it’s called the hot seat and unfortunately ESPN and the boosters drive the AD more than CMR’s work ethic. Go DAWGS!!!

Hairy Dawg, yes you do. You go for the blowout win every single game in the SEC. No shame in beating somebody 45, 50, 60 to 14 or so as long as nobody gets hurt.

I wish I felt like we’ll win out and Richt’s future with UGA is safe and intact. I just don’t see it happening. That said, it is still possible that the Dawgs do run the table although, highly unlikely. I think Richt has enough capital to lose at least one more, maybe two except, losing to Florida. Richt could lose this game and still remain at UGA for a long time. Lose to Missy, lose to TN, run the table and he still has a job. Lose this one and win all others but FL and he’s a goner. Two more losses, maybe 3 and beat FL he still has a 50/50 chance of being the coach next year. He’s not as far on the edge as most of these writers want you to believe

You’re just gonna get a headache doing all that ciphering. It don’t matter how many we lose. Mark will be back next year, and you know it.

Winning is overrated,

I do wish I could agree with you, really. I just can’t. I think Richt can lose a couple and stay unless they include either FL or the bugs or both. 8-4 might cut it. 7-5 will cost him a job. I do believe 9-3 is just too high a mountain to climb.

Bottom line, I think it is still his job to lose. 9-3, 10-2 and he likely gets a contract extension. 7-5 or worse he’s gone, 8-4 could easily retain if we beat FL….it’s all conjecture and JMHO

Don’t want to be on the hot seat, don’t play .500 ball for the last 2 seasons. Don’t lose to bad teams.

Hey Fans! We so value and look forward to all that fans say that I can tell you we only have half of our coaches on the practice field during the week while the other half are in the athletic offices taking close notes on who to fire, what plays to run, what we’re doing wrong, how we should shuffle the lineup, how we should act (intensity, yelling, clothes to wear), and who should and should not be a water-boy on the sidelines. I only ask that you all slow your comments down a bit because its hard to take notes when the comments in this goldmine of ideas are coming so fast. And for a long time we thought that only Jeff Schultz was our best “secret” coach! By the way, your votes of confidence really raises morale over here so expect us to play our best because of your candid comments. You cannot begin to IMAGINE how it’s helping our recruiting, too!

Now the pathetic Richt is calling out the fans to be loud. Maybe if this moron and his pathetic hand picked coaching staff could prepare the team to play for the first time in 4 years the fans would be excited. This loser has done nothing but disgrace the school the past 3 1/2 seasons, and now he is calling out the fans. My GOD this guy will try and blame anyone, the players, the fans, but never once has he called out his pathetic staff, and his own coaching ability. Richt is a big loser, and so are his coaches, and only losers blame everyone else but themselves. His terribly prepared team will lay an egg once again, but thank GOD the game will start at Noon, and no one will see it,but desperate UGA fans. Richt=mediocrity, always has, always will. And any UGA fan that defends this bum, deserves what they get, a poorly prepared, unmotivated team.

I honestly feel that Coach Mark Richt’s “slide ” in coaching is probably attributed to things in his life that are unknown to the general population,i.e. his having to endure his wife’s battle with cancer. I’ve had to go through this situaton myself, and I’ll tell you it’ll take a toll on you like you would’nt believe. I honestly don’t feel like he’s intentionally lost control of the program but like any other human being would prioritize their lives he put his family first. That being said , I don’t envy him his position as head coach of an SEC team,Where expectations are so phenomonally high. Understandably so with the salaries paid.Fans ,alumnae, students expect nothing less than perfection from the coaching staff. Pull it together tomorrow & beat Missy State. Go Dawgs

It’s entirely possible that UGA could win the remainder of the games on their schedule….Ga Tech will probably be the most difficult win….next to Florida. The greatest probability is that UGA will lose at least one more game…….9-3 isn’t so bad….With a bowl win…Georgia could make it 10-3…Now that’s improvement and would probably help keep Coach Richt safe for a while.
