Here’s a link to Tuesday’s football notebook and another to my profile of free safety Bacarri Rambo, who played this past Saturday’s game with a heavy heart. It was a busy, newsy day around the Butts-Mehre Building, however, and I couldn’t fit everything in. So following is some stuff that didn’t make the cut for print. Call it “bonus material.” . . .

Georgia coach Mark Richt, playing Mississippi State quarterback Chris Relf, demonstrates exactly when Bulldogs fans should "go berserk." (Photo by Chip Towers)
Richt coaches fans on crowd noise
Georgia coach Mark Richt is counting on the Bulldogs’ fans to be a 12th man against Mississippi State on Saturday. He’s so adamant that they produce crowd noise that he stood up during his opening remarks at his weekly press conference on Tuesday and demonstrated exactly when and how he wanted them to be noisy.
“I want to talk to our fans and educate them a little bit,” Richt said. “We need a lot of crowd noise and I know fans know that. But when teams no huddle [like Mississippi State] and you’re cheering, you might not be cheering at the right time. So I want to try to tell you what we hope happens in the game.”
Standing up, Richt demonstrated how State’s quarterback Chris Relf looks to the sideline for a play call after lining up in the shotgun and starting the cadence.
“When he looks to the sideline,” Richt said, turning to face the side of the room, “that’s the time when we need the fans to go berserk. That’s when they’re going to try to communicate to their line what they’re going to do. We don’t want them to communicate well. We want them to have trouble hearing each other and we want offensive linemen to jump offsides. So, UGA fan base, that’s the time when we want you to go crazy, when he looks to the sideline after he starts his cadence.”
What’s up with Malcome?
There was a lot of rumor and innuendo bouncing around Tuesday about tailback Ken “Boo” Malcome, who didn’t make the trip to Ole Miss and was absent for Tuesday’s practice. Even running backs coach Bryan McClendon heard the scuttlebutt that Malcome was itching to transfer.
“It sort of took me by surprise to be honest with you,” McClendon said. “Every time I’ve talked to him, he’s been happy here and this is definitely the place that he wanted to come to and this is the place where he wants to be. . . . The bottom line is the guys that have been able to come out and perform out there at practice, those are the guys that have been able to play.”
As it turns out, Malcome missed practice because of “some sort of stomach problem,” according to McClendon. But therein lies the problem with Malcome getting playing time.
The 6-foot, 221-pound redshirt freshman from Decatur was expected to step to the forefront this season with Georgia’s attrition at tailback. But since preseason camp opened in August he has fallen behind true freshman Isaiah Crowell, linebacker convert Richard Samuel, junior Carlton Thomas and former walkon Brandon Harton on the depth chart.
“The biggest thing for Ken is he just has to come out there and be able to practice so he can keep progressing,” McClendon said. “Obviously, that’s something that’s sort of held him back last season, this season, this past spring, this past summer. I think he has a bunch of talent. Once he is out there and once he does get better, you’ll see the player that he can become. But he just has to be out there.”
Robinson spotting
All indications are that inside linebacker Christian Robinson will be available to play on Saturday.
To be clear, that’s “available,” not “will play.” But the 6-foot-2, 226-pound “Mike” linebacker was practicing without any obvious limitations on Tuesday, the second day in a row Robinson has been on the field. Robinson has been out since the fourth quarter of the South Carolina game with foot injury. He was a starter and the Bulldogs’ leading tackler in the first two games and is considered the unofficial defensive captain.

Why are so many UGA football players not motivated and transferring to other schools? Why do all our better players do everything they can to leave UGA early and go pro instead of finishing up their degrees and helping their team?
Could it be the climate of the coaching leadership?
What else could it be?
ISn’t Richt responsible? After all, he recruited every single one of these unhappy players….
When we get rid of Richt and get a real coach (instead of a CEO continuing education student of football) who has genuine leadership ability. these problems will fix themselves..
Something very serious is wrong with Georgia Football.

Guys, we are keeping the best players and producers. We are losing players who know that they are too deep in the depth charts. As for going pro early, Herschel did it first. No one criticizes Herschel. He started something that has turned out badly for college football and UGA.

Dawg48… i agree with you. Maybe someone who leads our recruiting of athletes is not evaluating these prospects well. Also, some of these guys need to be a little more tough and battle for playing time. A player gets what he earns!! Sounds like some may want it given to them. Also, I don’t ever expect them to admit to that either. I have no idea if Boo feels this way, but Players get better by competition!! Again, maybe our recruiting coordinator is making several bad observations. We need guys who want to be Dawgs and I hope that Boo wants to be and the other DB too (sorry I can’t recall his name right now). I’m behind all who want to be a Dawg. @snoop: “all our better players” Really? How about the players that can’t follow the rules (good riddance) or the ones that see the reality of the depth chart at their position (wish them the best). Both are small numbers that every program has at one time or another, Sport. I seriously doubt you’re a Dawg.

Maybe the recruiting is good since they all are good enough to go pro after 3 years. Every team has its malcontents. Georgia is no exception. Boo needs to man up and practice. No practice no play. He could be a big part of the offense but has not worked hard enough to get playing time. We need every player to have a chance to beat every team left on the schedule. It can be done. It will take a few upsets though. We are not the best team in 3 of the remaining games. We need three upsets and play up to potential in all the others. Go Dawgs. Go Richt and Bobo.

The problem with guys like Boo is not coaching, motivation, or coaches missing on talent evaluations. Johnson, Neal, Brown, and Bennett, all went to other schools and UGA took Boo. So, its not an evaluating problem. Its a recruiting problem. Yes, I know UGA has a very good Freshman class; however, I think we would all agree over all the recruiting has not been what it once was under Richt. Now don’t get me wrong. I am a huge Richt supporter. But, with all the negative comments, and uncertainty surrounding the program, and with all the recruit visitors hearing all the booing and name calling from fans, it becomes increasingly difficult to get the kind of players needed to compete in the SEC.
I may be wrong..
September 28th, 2011
12:51 am
…but maybe the guys that are transferring or aren’t competing (stomach ailment? take some midol, Boo) just don’t like to compete with young talent they know is better. young talent that is hungry. young players with different agendas from the core recruits of uga’s recent backsliding teams. No one likes to be replaced. Some people just handle taking the backseat to superior talent as a challenge, while others back down and go to north alabama. We’ve got some fine athletes, let’s support the ones who continue to fight. GATA

7-3, 6-4, 10-1 Title, 7-4, 8-2 Title, 5-5, 5-5, 11-1, 7-4, 7-4, 6-6, 9-3…this is Vince Dooley’s coaching (minus ties) for the first 11 years. Two SEC titles and some disappointing seasons, sound familiar. Take out the Walker years, and Dooley won 3 titles in 22 seasons. Richt has become Dooley; yet, Dooley is reveered and people want Richt fired. Dooley had two advantages. First, he did win a National Championship in his SIXTEENTH year and with the greatest player any of us have ever seen. Second, fans we more patient and there was no internet with all this scruntiny. To the fans I say, relax. If Richt wins 1 more SEC title in the next eleven years, he will match what dooley did in 22 years. Lets just hope he can recruit his own version of Walker to make sure and win 3 in a row those other years. Richt has become Dooley and most fans want him fired for it. Hate to say it but Dooley would have been on the hot seat if he coached in 2011.

Some pretty interesting coaching here by the Puppie coach. But it is only Wednesday. By game time on Saturday, the MS Bulldogs will have worked out their silent signals for their offensive plays if it gets too noisy. They will certainly not be the first team to have figured that one out when traveling to a very loud venue. Thanks for the tip, coach, I guess. Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Tennessee – all SEC and BCS/national champs in recent years, and LSU and Alabama, schools that did what needed to be done, are once again hot on the national championship trail, and for the 6th year in a row, an SEC team will be the national champ. That is not a coincidence for some schools, by the way. From what I read on these blogs, the majority of the ever hopeful and optimistic Puppie nation is good to go with where things are (and where they will stay), and if they can get a game in the Georgia Dome in December (and win or lose) that will be more than plenty enough for them. And that is fine if that is what UGA and its fans are satisfied with, and they will be be happy to live with it in the future. At the other named schools it is clearly not enough, as a coach named Mike Shula once learned the hard way.

Players transfer from everywhere all the time at big time schools (so GT isnt included). All these kids come in expecting to start and never sit out because thats what they did in high school and when they dont get to play or when they redshirt and then dont get to play they want to transfer. You dont see many 1 star OGs transfering its always the superstar high school kids who dont like sitting. You dont see starters transfering if you did that would be problem. Transfers happen that is why you must always sign big classes, not oversign mind you, but sign as many as you possible can each year because players leave.

Greatest Wins over 11-season career Mark Richt’s coaching staff :
(based upon where the teams ended up in the final polls)
2006 Auburn # 9 great team, but we # 5 team in SEC in AP Poll LOST 4 games including 4-win Vandie
2005 LSU # 6, great team, but we ended up the # 3 team in SEC AP Poll & lost 3 games
2001 vols # 4, great team, but we ended up the # 5 team in SEC AP Poll & lost 4 games
Tally : The last win over any team who finished that season in the AP Poll Top 10, was 2006 Auburn, Six (6) seasons ago now. If you beat a team in week 2 who at game time is ranked # 9 in the nation, but they end up losing 6 games and finish outside the Top 25, were they a great team ? Obviously, not. The greatest years of Vince Dooley, his teams BEAT the top teams. The greatest years of Mark Richt, he beat nobody, such as 2002, 2005, and 2007. 2002 there was only 1 other SEC team ranked in the Coaches’ Poll Top 25 and that was # 14 Auburn. I have heard it asked, is that Mark Richt’s fault ? Obviously, not, but how great then were we in 2002, is what you have to ask yourself, especially given our head-scratching loss to Florida 2002 who ended that season, even with their win over us, not ranked in either the Coaches’ or the AP Polls.

Ken Boo Malcome
Is this yet again, another, Discipline Issue ? Well, what we know is that Mark Richt and now his coaching staff BLAME Ken Boo Malcome. He, and they, run to the PRESS (AJ-C press mind you) and BLAME the player. All season Mark Richt has constantly stated that Boo has 1 ailment after another, running to the PRESS to announce this puts Boo in Mark Richt’s doghouse. How big is this doghouse ? When it gets too full, he again RUNS TO THE PRESS and announces that it is best for the player and for the team, for him to just leave. DISNEYdawgs.com say ADDITION by ATTRITION. Now, we are up to 27 – not even counting Boo – who already are gone for 2011. 27 of 85 Scholarships gone for 2011 who would have been here playing. Now, I realize that Mark Richt and all you DISNEYdawgs.com are ALL so much smarter than I, but you say I can have my say too. I have a question. Certainly, with your brilliant succinct minds, can formulate an answer to little ole me, if you are so much smarter than I. Right ? How can ANY football program be getting better by not having our Depth to give guys like Isaiah Crowell a blow – does he need a blow or not ? So, 27 of 85 Scholarships who would have been playing 2011, are GONE. That is
ONE-THIRD of the entire Scholarships entrusted to Mark Richt for 2011, GONE.
This is better for us ?
DISNEYdawgs.com run in here and say how absolutely AWFUL it is at Alabama that Nick Saban, Satan you call him, RUNS OFF his SCHOLARSHIPS.
Pardon me, are you 2-faced, or am I the hypocrite ?
Are you the Pollyanna, or is it me ?
They called me for a donation today. Did they call you ?
Since a business degree is applied psychology, little ole me, I have a question for you ?
What kind of psychology is it, that the coaching staff runs to the AJ-C PRESS and in public ridicules a guy who they, not the press and not us fans, recruited to be 1 of the 85 Scholarships for 2011.
47 Ray Drew, Thomasville, Central – Outside Linebacker 6′ 5″ 243 lbs he played a couple snaps vs Coastal Carolina and that is it all season long
24 Ken Malcome, Decatur, SW DeKalb – Tailback 6′ 226 lbs he played a couple snaps vs Coastal Carolina and that is it all season long
26 Malcolm Mitchell, Valdosta – Wide Receiver 6′ 1″ 187 lbs he did not start vs South Carolina, excuse me, what in the world is that ?
I am not going back over 6 seasons ago, I am talking this season.
The Question, again, is : What kind of psychology is this we practice in this football program that we RUN to the PRESS, AJ-C no less, and COMPLAIN to them that Boo doesn’t want to go to practice, that he has 1 ailment after another ?

I don’t know about 30 points NUB, but we absolutely are a football program lost at sea without a rudder. Their traitor coach is supposed to be so much worse than Mark Richt. We are supposed to be the team who recruited the DREAM TEAM. We are supposed to be the program with the better won/loss record all-time. They are supposed to be the down team this year. We are supposed to be the team who wins The SEC East this year. We were the higher ranked team. Now, they are. We are supposed to have the Best QB in the entire SEC. They are behind their team. We are a fan base who has to have their 11-year head coach here, tell us that we don’t make noise when we stand around at the line of scrimmage trying to figure out what sprint draw to call on 3rd and 15, but when our opponents are 3rd and 1. We are the team that does not run off scholarships. We are the team that has the # 1 RB in the nation. We are the team that taunts ever opponent BEFORE the game on Twitter, not they. We are the team that taunts our opponents after every 4-yard running play, even if the opponent is the dead last worst team in all of America. We are the team that does not play Florida State, Alabama or LSU, as Florida does too. We have the Christian head coach, not anyone else by comparison. We are the team with the coach who has to win now, or be gone according to EVERYONE, not they with their new head coach and far better coaching staff than we have assembled here now 11 years into this run of 2-8 vs them.

It took me a little bit but I have figured it out. Pollyanna is Thomas Brown. Same style, same over abundance of stats. and the same trying to dominate a blog, and trying to impress people on here, when nobody bothers to read anything beyond the first blog if that. Should at least try to be more original.
As bad as roll tidey bowl is as far as actually providing meeaningful input or knowledge of the game goes. Complains and says the OT georgia got from Maryland is in the lowest class league in MD. , the catholic league. Notice he never says anything about the big freshman they also got from MD. that played in the catholic league, and has been playing in games for the tide. The catholic leagues in Maryland are mostly private schools, and they play a good brand of sports there. Sometimes, people write before they think and show what they truely are, which is a UGA hater, without substantial or accurate remarks to back up what they write.
Statistics are like assumptions in a lot of cases and can be manipulated to say what the blogger intends for them to say to prove his/her/it’s opinion. And we all know what opinions are for the most part. Everybody has one, just like everyone also has a certain anatomy part, that is always behind them, so to speak.

What happened to all the pre-season talk???? Note to Ben and the rest of this team: Read the Tucaloosa papers, Gainsville papers, baton Rouge papers….even the Columbia papers- you never read anything about players talking about “new attitudes at the 2-2 point. I would have thought after last years embarrassment 10-6 and the fact your coachs job is likly on the line you would have had that new attitude a bit sooner……..oh and Ben- maybe the fans would buy into your hype about “something special” on Sat if our O line would finally just play on even a Jr. college level……….

I’m proud of our coach. He’s taking lessons from the master. He used to complain about Nick Saban cutting deadwood from his squad to make room for other players with better attitudes and ability. Now he has realized that it’s okay to demand excellence. He has had an epiphany. Good for him!
Last week, Nick Saban advised Crimson Tide fans to participate in the Arkansas game by getting loud when the Hawgs were on offense. Once again, Coach Richt is emulating Coach Saban. We should all be proud. This is a positive development for UGA football. The rumor in Athens is that Coach Richt has signed up for off-season training with Coach Saban’s staff. Just think about it Dawg fans… Next year, we’ll have the Dream Team© being coached by a Dream Coaching Staff. Surely it can’t be long now before our magnificent Head Coach raises the Crystal Football before the adoring Dawg Nation!
Just keep the faith people! Our patience will pay huge dividends, in the long run. I just know it!

We will lose between 4 and 6 games this year with a schedule that everyone was saying was so easy before the season started. Two in the loss column already and losses to UF and Tech are certain. We could very easily lose to Miss St, Auburn, Vandy and Tenn. Mark it down.

Polyanna,
My opinions have been stated polyanna AKA. Thomas Brown. UGA is a young team, improving each week, and will only get better with experience. For some like you for instance, UGA will never be able to do anything right.
As for Malcome. His problem is simple to solve. Stay healthy and if you truly have the talent, you will rise up on the depth chart. Injuries are going to happen and will, but attitude adjustment have to come with maturity. If you can’t go in practice, you can’t expect to go in a real game.
These young men UGA has for the most part are becoming a very good team, and with time, they might just become an exceptional unit. Anybody expecting thme to come right out of the stable and win the race, are placing unrealistic expectations on this team. I know eveerybody hates to hear, “Wait until next year”, but that is when I think these young men will really shine and UGA will be very formidable. This year they are learning and along the way, are becoming a pretty solid unit. They have some problems but at least at this point, these problems are very fixable, and as long as everybody continues to work with the right attitude, UGA will be just fine this year as well.

Randall Godfrey and David Pollack did attended at the 5-star defensive end’s college announcement here at Thomas County Central High School and it speaks volumes about the impact and reach this high school football player has had.
Chip Towers, ajc.com
Drew chose the University of Georgia over a stack of more than 50 scholarship offers. And that’s one of the reasons Godfrey and Pollack, each former NFL and UGA players, were here. But, they said, it was not the only reason.
“I spoke at a banquet for In The Game Magazine a while back and presented him with an award,” said Godfrey, who hails from nearby Lowndes County. “And the first time he got up and spoke, I was like, “Man, look at this guy!” I was impressed. So we kept in touch after that and I knew I needed to support him regardless of what decision he made. But I’m glad he’s a Georgia guy because this kid has the works. I’m talking about leadership, everything. He’s going to make an impact, not only on the field but off the field.”
Said Pollack: “I just started to get to know him and to speak to him and, my God, I’ve never met a kid like this. I mean, 18 years old, to have your head on this straight, I mean, it’s kind of scary. I was kind of similar to him but I wasn’t as mature. I was growing in my faith and I was learning, but this kid is grounded and he has goals. You listen to his goals and what he wants to do, it’s pretty outstanding. I look forward to working with him anyway I can.”
Drew is a licensed minister who preaches regularly at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church and at various churches across South Georgia. He’s also a consensus 5-star prospect, the No. 1-rated player in America at his position by Rivals.com and the No. 2 player in Georgia per the AJC Fab 50.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end will play outside linebacker at Georgia, the same position as Justin Houston, the all-star junior who just departed for the NFL. Drew’s commitment.
“I actually dreamed about this last night,” Drew said in a one-on-one interview after his announcement. “It actually took place before it actually took place. I was a little nervous but not too much. It’s just a relief, like something really heavy has been lifted up off of me.”
“I just want to say to Jay at the end of his announcement, I heard your call,” Drew said. “And now I’ve given an answer. Isaiah Crowell, we’re waiting on you; Antonio Richardson, we’re waiting on you; John Jenkins, we’re waiting on you; and Jeoffrey Pagan, we’re waiting on you. Come join what we’re putting together, the Dream Team. But remember, a dream is only a dream until you make it reality. So I’m calling you out on this one. I hope you’re not afraid to be thrown into the fire. I hope you’re not afraid to be the ones to make the change.”

Easy to support a team when they are great ?
You mean 2002, when we LOST to team not ranked in polls, going 0-11 on 3rd Down Conversions, when in the entire SEC, there was only 1 other SEC team ranked at all in the Coaches’ Poll Top 25 in 2002 ?
That what you mean by when Mark Richt was great ?
Or, is is 2005 when Mark Richt lost to 3 teams 2005 and ended up the # 3 team of just SEC teams in the polls ?
That what you mean by when Mark Richt was great ?
Or, is it 2007, when Mark Richt got hosed by the BCS when LSU beat two (2) teams who finished in the AP Poll Top 10 while Mark Richt beat none.
That what you mean by when Mark Richt was great ?
That is EASY to root for them way back THEN ?
The last 6 seasons, after 2005, we have a 13-13 record vs The SEC East. This season, we have once again proved we cannot beat the top teams, cannot beat the good teams, and I am quite certain with 10 already in the 1st Ten Years, that Mark Richt will once again this season, too, put up a loss to a team who even with their win over him, will not end up in the AP Poll Top 25, even.
Just when was it EASY to root for Mark Richt when he was doing so bloody well, pray tell ?

TRANSFERS are part of the college game. Every scholl will have some every year more than likely. See below :
Updating ex-Tide players who transferred
Posted on September 23, 2011 by Michael Casagrande| 2 Comments
There were eight players on the 2010 Alabama roster who transferred out before this fall. Here’s a quick update on how most are doing at their new football homes:
WR Keiwone Malone (Memphis): Receiving a special exemption to skip the transfer redshirt, the Memphis native has four receptions, but a grand total of two receiving yards. Malone had three catches Saturday against Austin Peay for zero yards.
DB B.J. Scott (South Alabama): Once a five-star recruit, the wide receiver turned defensive back is fitting in with his hometown program. He has 20 tackles — the second most on the team and has one forced fumble. The third-year program lost its first game last week at North Carolina State, 35-13
RB Demetrius Goode (North Alabama): The senior has yet to play in the four UNA games after suffering a hamstring injury.
DB Robby Green (California University of Pennsylvania):After sitting out the 2010 season in Tuscaloosa on a NCAA-ordered suspension, the junior ranks fifth on the team with 17 tackles including one sack. He had 12 stops in last week’s win over East Stroudsburg.
DL Darrington Sentimore (Mississippi Gulf Community College): Suspended for spring practices, the Louisiana native has 15 tackles in three games at the JUCO level. Click here for a story from the Mississippi Press where he talks about Nick Saban’s advice post-Alabama. There are also reports from Knoxville saying Sentimore made an official visit to Tennessee two weeks ago.
DL Brandon Moore (East Mississippi Community College): The Montgomery product didn’t move too far from Tuscaloosa (geographically speaking) where he has 16 tackles include two for losses. Moore also recorded three quarterback hurries.
I couldn’t find information on linebacker Petey Smith who reportedly transferred to Holmes Community College. His name didn’t appear on the roster on the school’s website. The other transfer was running back Corey Grant who is sitting out this season at Auburn.

I think CMR might have really screwed up on this one when he threw Malcome under the bus to the media. Malcome had a problem with nagging injuries in the summer, and Richt made a smart comment to a question about Malcome’s injuries. IMO, Malcome has tremendous potential and they need to be building that guy up, rather than tearing him down. Injuries happen.

Polyanna,
Why did you change your screen name? I would be interested to know since it appears you sure haven’t changed your attitude or your know it all mentality. I am sure all of the UGA fans on this blog, know that you hate UGA, but true fans weather the storms and enjoy the good times when they come. I might want some changes, or think in my opinion that this or that could be changed, but I keep in mind, that I am not an expert either, and therefore, in the overall big picture, my opinion doesn’t matter that much either. Your problem is you think your opinion does. Before I retired, my job depended very much on statisrtics at least as a first look at trends and probabilities, but in the end, staistics could be bent anyway you wanted to bend them and by and far, be as big or little an indicator as pertained to the situation as you wanted to make them. If you always use statisitcs of the past to base your future opinions on, you most likely will fail, as you learn from history, not always follow it. Things change for the most part, except for a person like you, who will hate UGA, no matter what they do.

Richt is teaching us how and when to yell at a home game……….does that bother anyone else other than me? You would think his time would be better spent scheming…game planning ect…Bama…LSU…Fla one can see how certain coaching decisions make a huge difference in the game…….our head coach is telling us how and when to cheer???????????

Ok unless its gallstones I don’t care to hear anything about a stomach ache Boo Malcome. We need him terribly to be a backup to Crowell. That means that instead of Samuel not dodging the first tackler, we will have a power runner who is also shifty (I think we all agree Richards agility sucks). Im starting to worry about Boo’s work ethic. I’ve always defended him but now he has me worried. I hope he had the flu or something. In 2 years ive seen him carry the ball 3 times which i sad.

Tweeting that you “won’t answer the phone unless it’s money calling” is pretty stupid.
You might want to actually man up and earn some PT and then perform well, stay up top on the depth chart and have a good college career first, THEN think about NFL.

I would think that you have to practice in order to play. Malcome hasn’t practiced yet has he? Get on the field kid and prove it if you are that talented. Shouldn’t be that hard getting past everybody else on the depth chart except IC. Come on Boo take the rock and start running dude.
Really people. Let’s play the games first before we start shouting fire Richt again. So what if kids are leaving the program, all programs have unhappy kids who don’t live up to their potential. Stop with the “all these guys transfered” stuff. We don’t care they are history.
One game at a time. I for one think that yes he needs to win at least 9 and beat Florida. I think we can do it. The team has been getting better every week.

Today, we get to see how M.Richt tries to coach the lame brains up to learn how they can make noise and disrupt the other teams signals. Only at UGA could you be taught something as important as this and not be insulted.

Sorry folks, Pollyanna or whoever he/she is, has hit the head right on the nail on almost every single point. But I won’t be so vicious. I have wondered why this coaching regime under CMR just simply cannot finish “in the 4th qtr” of anything, not in the off-season, not during the season, not in games, and not in recruiting (spare me the numbers). Or is that “finish the drill?”
1. Off season conditioning has been poor for at least 4-5 seasons
2. Too many losses to teams they should beat, including not beating Ron Zook ever, finishing 12-2 in 2007 and complaining about not getting in the game (don’t lose two games genius)
3. Just look at the games, even the win against Ole Miss. The game should have never been in doubt.
4. And as far as these top recruiting classes, only a handful of these guys turn out to be “players.”
I won’t go into a rant because I know you all get the point. Boo Malcome should be cut from the team and allowed to transfer. Huh? We now know that’s why it was so important to put Samuel back at RB so late in the off-season (Boykin may be a better option, start one of the freshamn at DB, Florida is). No player has this many excuses as far as playing time. He didn’t even make the trip because of a “stomach” virus? CMR, everybody goes to Georgia to get a college degree, so I believe everyone can think critically and logically. WE ARE NOT THAT STUPID!!! We clearly need Malcome to play at least 10 snaps a game and yet he isn’t. There is something in the milk that’s sour. Even our very own Chip Towers admitted on radio last week that UGA is very secretive when it comes to these matters, and somewhat deceitful. Chip, I was just paraphrasing you, not quoting. Name a team with a world class sprinter on the roster and there is not one “package” for him? Or hasn’t played a snap?
Anyway, we are having some down years and I have no doubt that CMR will get the program back to relevancy, but that’s just it. If we want to keep up with the rest of college football, we need to chase the ring, not SEC East Division titles. There should be no way that UGA is not annually a top 25 team or at least 8 out of 10 years.
And yes, they called me for a donation yesterday.

Hasn’t changed screen name, know it all mentality, passion for typing idiot rants that equate to small books on a BLOG. No, Pollyanna hasn’t changed much other than screen names. Pollyanna, Rooster, Thomas Brown; it’s all the same crap.
1. Pollyanna wants the true freshman recruits playing .. ALL OF THEM! Drew, Crowell, Mitchell, Swann, Seay, Rome, Debell, Scott-Wesley .. hell, just put them all out there at once.
2. UGA did not LOSE scholarship players. They left on their own and were replaced with other scholarship players. They still have over 80 players on scholarship as researched and printed on this very site already.
3. Richt isn’t “blaming” players, he is answering questions. What is he supposed to do when he gets asked about Malcome REGULARLY?
Ok, enough, Pollyanna is a 4th grader skipping school I guess but certainly someone who is clueless and most likely just a troll trying to start trouble.

To bad about Boo, I was looking for him to make some serious contributions this year. Seems he’s fallen into the abyss that Athens has seemingly become. Snoop and others are definitely not alone folks. I mentioned earlier I was talking to a couple of older alums in Sandestin last week. They aren’t happy with Richt, unfortunately dissenion is everywhere, we are a divided nation. In football, life, marriage, etc. sometimes to much water has gone over the fall and change is necessary just to heal. I think this is the case with UGA football and CMR. He’s crossed the line of no return IMO, to many crosses to bear, pardon the pun. His use of doing things the “Georgia Way” especially cuts me to the bone. Pollyanna and all his other screen names laid it out but some of you still will never come to the reality that Richt is in “WAY” over his head. The program has become stale. Sad reality but true.

Slydog, I think UGA is “secretive” on these things to protect the player, in this case, Malcome. It would be more embarrassing to Boo if they just released all the reasons why he is not on the practice field.
Getting out on the practice field is up to him, not the coaches. They can not make a kid practice. Personally, I think that Pollyanna is just a troll trying to make non-sense points to try to stir up trouble as I pointed out above. He/she (rooster/Thomas Brown) never makes a point that isn’t easy to debunk. This person wants to play every freaking freshman RIGHT NOW. Dumb idea! This person thinks we are rolling with only 50 something players on the roster. No, proven wrong already a couple of weeks ago by Chip. Again, he/she is either a troll stirring the pot, a 4th grader without an actual knowledge base or vision for the future, or someone who should be in a mental facility.

There was NO WAY to express displeasure with Dooley or the team….and those times seemed more accepting to mediocre years due to no 24/7 news cycle and internet to keep you juiced up. Richt lives in an entirely different world than Dooley…Not only do we know everything about the Dawgs, we know it about Bama, AU,Tenn,Tech,Fla. etc……….THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE !!!

That’s too bad for Boo Malcome. I don’t “know” with any certainty but confident, if he chose he could reverse his misfortune. To miss practice with no determined or obvious injury is not going to win any favors from the coach and it shouldn’t. It’s football and it’s proven on the field. Which brings me to my second point.
Enough with the gimmicks Coach Richt, I’ve had them up to my neck. When you put a team on the field that YOU can coach up to potential, don’t you worry. The noise will be there. The onus is on you Richt, give us something to cheer and make some noise about. Rather than looking for something, someone else to blame for your failures.

The situation for Dawg fans should be that Richt gets this act together. Players leaving over the past year, recruiting is treading water. You couple the transfers and then the lose of talent in recruiting if Richt is fired it may lead into a 4-5 year rebuild job just like UT is in.
You folks wanna complain now? What happens in three years and we are no where near competing? UF isnt going away, USC has there act together, Dooley is finally able to bring talent into UT again.
This is not a great situation to say the least but damn I am not in favor of Smart or Mullen. If the Alabama defense is talked about it is all about Saban. So who knows what Smart actually brings to the table. Mullen? He has teams that have close loses with inferior talent. Really? That is who we talk about outside of Mr. Boise State? It just simply is in the best interest of this University for Richt to rally this group.
That being said I do think thats a bitter pill to swallow, but with the SEC East at its current level I want the steady hand and not a nuclear detonation of the program.

Players are leaving, but the team as a whole seems to be sticking together.
There was some concern whether the incoming freshmen hailed as “the dream team” would mesh well with the veterans on the team…….and all indications as of 9/28 are that they have. The better freshman have played and surpassed veterans on the depth chart, while the others have experienced the typical growing pains of the transition from highschool to college.
Like many others, I’m hoping this is the start of always playing the best player at his respective position. In past years, too many players held onto their spots on account of being an upperclassman.

Georgia certainly has more talent than Mississippi State, and Saturday will be a good gauge to see if this team, like a of of Richt’s teams in the past, can improve as the season goes on. Coming out sloppy and unmotivated Saturday will not beat these guys. Scoring three points in the second half will not beat these guys. Just having better athletes will not beat these guys.

The program over a period of the last 36-42 months has not looked well. I know sometimes we blame things on just bad luck, but I think we are past that. Yes, bringing in a new coach is a gamble. Worked well for Auburn, even as the rumors continue down there, rumors didn’t win 14 ball games. A well coached team did. I’m sorry to say after watching the Florida, LSU and Bama games last weekend, I feel we are light years away from that type play, not even close. Would you be happy if CMR had no medical redshirts at all? It’s not that it happens at all, but the way in which handing out medical redshirts is done? It’s almost like a machine when Nick Saban does it. Now let’s get rationale here: CMR has gone out of his way to keep his personal issues with departed players from the media, even outright lying about it. Can you say the same for Saban? Saban is no devil and I love the way he goes about his business, but he is a cold, calculating machine when it comes to the business of football. That’s why he over signs players. Can you say the same about CMR? That’s why there are depth issues at certain positions. I will admit this: There are so many good players who want to go to Alabama, I don’t blame Nick Saban for basically “paying off” players who will never play, not even a sentimental Senior Day game (lol). The “pay off”, i.e., medical redshirt, is far more money than these kids or their parents have ever seen.

Richt never blames the players, my God some of you Richt lovers are amazing. This clown and his puppet Bobo have never called a bad play, it is always the players fault for not executing the play. And your wonderful Richt even lied about a player having an injury in the press(Tyson) when actually Richt wouldn’t allow the player to play, and the player called out Richt on tweeter and in an interview. Richt and his pathetic coaches have made more mistakes evaluating talent than any other coaching staff in the SEC, and that is why UGA is in the shape it is in now. That with the fact these clowns can’t coach up any players once they get on campus.Drew will be the next 5 star bust at UGA, anyone that watched this guy in high school knows he would be an all-american D.E. with his hand on the ground, yet Grantham has him at O.L. where he is lost. Talk about a terrible coaching decision. THen you have Samuel another 5 star bust that anyone watching him make one run can tell he is no running back. The kid would be a great linebacker which he was in high school, but these idiot coaches tried and are still trying to make him a running back. Then the 3rd 5 star bust is Brandon Smith, these clown coaches don’t know what to do with this kid, yet all we heard in summer and fall camp was he was so aggressive in practice and per Richt the light has come on. Yea right Richt, maybe one day the light will come on in that thick skull of yours and you will resign or you will fire your stepchild Bobo. Dogforlife, cites the record of Dooley to lobby for continued mediocrity. One has to remember that there was little expectation for Georgia Football when Dooley came in. Fact is, from the start his teams performed better than expected. It was a step up from the Butts era. Under Dooley, the Dogs joined the elite SEC programs. Fans who want Richt gone still believe we should be an upper echelon team. Those citing Dooley’s record out of context are happy with being a mid-level conference team.

You guys are right also. It is impossible to have the stance of defending CMR. I understand it. Heck watching the Ole Miss game offensively I came away with it very underwhelmed again. UGA really needs to embarass a team. CMR though does not have that mentality. I am not in favor of doing it every week, but Richt needs to come out and thrash a opponent rather than sitting on the ball like he did against Ole Miss. I understand why he didn’t do it against Nutt. Nutt would have been fired Monday if UGA layed the wood to them like they should have, but Richt once again backed it off to about 70% and truth be told Richt loses that benefit of the doubt when he is struggling for his job. Richt needs to lay 50 on a big boy opponent and thump his chest a little in doing so. UGA Nation may just rally behind him a little bit if he displayed himself a little swagger on the sideline.

No way do I see CMR resigning. I promise you he still feels as if will be the right man to lead these young men next year and beyond even with a 7-6, 6-7 record. CMR is a football coach and he just cant walk away Christian or not.
The caveat to that may be if he does not have a extension beyond 2013? That may be a issue that could lead to him walking away. If he is a lame duck coach with no extension beyond then he knows his fate will be sealed on the recruiting trail. All he has to do is look to what Tommy Bowden went through at Clemson with his contract extension efforts.

I think also that Richt is a victim of his own success. In only his 2nd season, he came within a dropped pass in Jax to getting in the Big Game, eventually going 13-1 and a #3 ranking. Close again in ‘07, the early losses to SC and UT killing our chances of getting in, with a team that could beat ANYBODY.
It’s just human nature for us to want more of that, but instead, after Richt made UGA football relevant once again, we are irrelevant (like the 90s) again.

Inept mainly, but in the second half Richt was running the ball considerably more. Richt new Ole Miss had zero talent to push the ball on us. The “Dawgs” where called off to a degree. We ran the ball a ton on 3rd and long situations. This even when we had field position to be aggressive downfield with the ball if we so chose. You know why CMR is feeling more heat than Dooley? Multi-billion dollar television contracts that are being re-written as we speak. The SEC is on the verge of a 14 team conference, with the very real possibility that Auburn (done deal) and Alabama are moving East.
16 team super conferences have already been drawn up. They are just playing footsie with the general public. I understand that overall, these are just “down” years, when compared to the erly part of his tenure. But let’s compare UGA and CMR to LSU and Miles. Miles is considered a boob by his own fanbase and he has gotten lucky, but who hasn’t? This man is on the verge of a second NC and at least an SEC title. Is LSU recruiting better than UGA? Is Les Miles the better coach? Both legitimate questions.

Now there is where in previous years I had much respect for Richt as a class act. He would not run up the score for style points when clearly it was at his disposal. I personally am still not asking for that. Just line up and beat the other team. Boise is a much better team than I gave them credit. But I still in no way believe my Bulldawgs lose to a Boise St, a 1-A light. There is no excuse for that.
Texas Dawg mentioned and he is right, the last 4-5 years the opposing coach no matter who it is simply our coaches our guys. UGA has all the necessary ingredients for wins and success yet, it eludes us year after year. Even in Richt’s successful years, a lowly TN and Fulmer sticks it in and breaks it off.
Richt is a victim of his early success. If he had the first 3-4 years as mediocre years, followed by the success, he would have some working capital for more mediocre years. The fan base has been on a steady diet of mediocre. We want to taste some t-bone or maybe even some pork chop. This pooh sandwich is getting old

Just so some of our fans that are not very smart can learn something anyone with a fair amount of education already knows, ALL PLAYERS AT ANY SCHOOL THAT CAN BE PICKED IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF ROUNDS IN THE NFL DRAFT USUALLY GO PRO EARLY!!!! That is true at Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Florida State, Oklahoma, etc. Examples…Mark Ingram(bama), Cam Newton(Auburn), Adrian Peterson(Oklahoma), Percy Harvin(Florida), Julio Jones (Bama). Did Ingram and Jones leave Bama because the didn’t want to play for Saban? Of course not. Think before you comment, please. We don’t lose anymore players than anyone else….Snoop dawg, you sir, are an idiot!!

Lowcountry, of course,, slapping 50 on anybody other than Coastal would be tantamount to saying yes I can do this, yes I want to do this. I did enjoy the Ole Miss game we did dominate that game more than the score indicated. However, that second half offensive performance was horrible. How fast is Thomas? We kept sending him up the middle or off tackle trying to get years. Samuel could get yardage on the screen passes but we do the same thing with him. Murray could complete 70% of his passes to the TE’s if Bobo would call it. I am glad that we get Marlon Brown back this week. That kid, if given the opportunity will be a good one. He works hard for yardage after the catch.
Richt should be game planning this one so that we beat MSU so bad that the UGA nation wishes that it never heard Mullen’s name as a possible replacement for him. Kinda of like “what him?, replace me?”.

I am a die-hard Dawg Fan and strong Richt supporter, but a even I realize that in the past 11 years we have fielded great, nation leading teams and have under performed in situations when we should have completely dominated. I just want to see that trend end this year. No more losing games due to turnovers, penalties and poor execution/play. If we get beat, I want to get beat because the other team just had the edge and not because missed field goals here, bad play call there and all the crap we have dealt with for so many years. There is NO reason Georgia should no be the equivalent of Bama and LSU but on the East side of the conference.
If Richt can figure it out, I am 100% for it. If he can’t figure it out, I have no problem thanking Richt for what he has done and Georgia finding the right man to help us get where we should be in football. That being said, if they were to replace Richt, I would still want a coach with the same demeanor, integrity and quality of person that Richt has, those attributes are truly part of the Georgia Way. To all the Richt supporters, I still subscribe to the theory that he came in with a boatload of talent, Jim Donnan, like him or not recruited strong character atheletes. He recruited Greene and Pollack, whom Richt rode to his SEC greatness on. Since those guys left things have deteriorated gradually, hence my take is the culture change has occurred gradually as the Donnan era players left and those that came in during Richt’s first couple of recruiting classes were heavily influenced by the Donnan players. Richt was good as an OC, but as the Leader, and person most responsible for setting the atmosphere, environment for the players he has failed.

How many of you all have been to UGA practices? Right no one on here but maybe 1 or 2 posters. UGA insiders says he has but I’ve tried to pick him out of a crowd of about 8-10 media/high level boosters/former players who are allowed at FEW practices. Every practice I have been to Ken Malcome is always constantly getting treatment for something. He has no drive and the coaches have been on his ass from day 1. Two weeks ago I was at practice and saw Coach Richt take Ken by the shoulder and put his arm around him and you could read his lips and told him your going to have to play banged up if you want to play at all.

UCF Dawg….good points,….We have a history of not throwing coach’s overboard after a bump or two. From my Dawg friends I talk to,, they have concerns just beyond wins and losses, which IS the most important. I’ll list them
1. Roster mismanagement.
2. poor player evaluation in recruiting
3. Plays seniority over most talented playing.
4. to finesse vs physical
5. to loyal to assit. not getting the job done
6. S&C program
7. Unwilling to “try something else on offense” . Very few new wrinkles.
8. Hasn’t improved as a game day coach ( always out of timeouts late in game)
9. Unable to fix defense giving up lots of points and yardage last 3 years.
10. Come out flat to play way too many times.

But the issue isn’t if Grantham can coach a defense (which I think he is and can), it whether CMR can lead his team out of mediocrity and into the elite (correcting the other points you mentioned). I think the playing seniority has drastically improved this year…but that may be that the new talent is that much better than old talent. We are only 4 games into the season with a .500 record. Lex said:
“I agree to a certain extent but if you put Murray on that team with that defense, I think he wins a lot too. ”
That’s exactly my point Lex, I’m not beating my chest as a psychologist but I worked for years in a large Fortune 500 company and had the opportunity to go through the “grooming” process managing several levels afterward. After taking an early out package I started my own business using the principles I had learned there and have been considered successful. Management is a “process”, that can be repeated over and over with consistent results with the backing of your supporters, that’s critical.
What we learned is that the environment that a new “competent” employee comes into is the most critical part of how they will perform. It was demonstrated, we would pick a low performing employee and place that person in a group of “generally” high productive people and over a relatively short time period the low performer would be working at the level of their peers. Same philosophy applied to a higher performer that was use to working with high performers and move them to the lower performing teams guess what happened.
I have no doubt that is the largest problem we have in Athens is the team culture, work ethic, environment, call it what you want. Look what Saban did in two years at Bama, during the first year there was turmoil, he weeded out the bad apples, second year they were in the SECCG, third year the MNC. The reason for our demise is “the management style” of Coach Richt.

Gotta say that the play calling on our first drive against Ole Miss was very good. We started in the I formation and ran a toss sweep on the first play and got 22 yards! If we ran the toss sweep 4-5 times in the first half against Boise State, I think we could have won that game.
Then, we got Charles involved with some nice short throws to him (one of which was a drop, but he would have had a nice 5-6 yard gain on that one too). I loved the sprint draw call when Lee pulled from the right side to the left side and drove a safety who was in the box 5-6 yards off the ball for an important first down as well.
We ran the toss sweep again in the red zone and got 3 yards and we had to settle for a field goal, but we got a receivers hands on the ball two times in the end zone (even though they would have been tough catches).
I liked the mix of run and pass, toss sweeps, inside and outside runs, and we even went 5 wide on one play.
Really liked the play calling on that first drive.

That includes losses to two of Ron Zook’s 5-loss teams. If Richt can’t get the job done in the most important conference rivalry game we have, we should get rid of him and find someone who can. It’s nothing personal.

Where is all the venom toward Ray Drew coming from? Sure, it sucks that he was only in against CC for a couple of snaps, but to hear some of you tell it, he’s already done with the program and moved out of his dorm. Usually the cannibalistic little pirhana at DawgRant are the first ones to sniff out blood in the water, and there’s not so much as a peep from them about it.

These rants about Boo would be funny if they weren’t so pathetic. The kid is a red shirt freshman. He has suffered from a persistant groin injury and other nagging issues. At this point I’m not sure he would mention his groin if it’s still hurting because it as been an issue for so long. Look to the Falcons for how serious these injuries can be. John Abraham has it as his number one ailment even after corrective surgery.
The point is that I’m sure the coaching staff is working with him on off field skills such as time management and nutrition. All are working to get him healthy and on the field. The negative comments and rumors are not productive. Until Malcome, McClendon or another UGA official speek about him leaving, I don’t believe it. It goes right up there with the Ben Jones is homesick and will transfer to Alamaba rumor we heard here a few years ago.
It would be great if Boo had some on field productivity to lean on, or even if he could compete with Crowell for playing time. That would stop the rumors from fans that are disappointed that he is not UGA’s next Hershel (there won’t be another Hershel). Right now he doesn’t have a playing history nor is he near Crowell’s level. That doesn’t mean UGA or its fans should give up on the guy. Have some patience and support him.

The way I see it is that the kids that have transfered, for the most part, are the guys that were studs in High School and had very little competition. These same guys come to a major school, any school not just UGA, and can’t hack the competition and become babies and leave thinking that there is no competition at another school.
True athletes thrive on stiff competition! The pretenders run from it. Let them them transger and bring on athletes that want to play hard and compete.

I am not in favor of doing it every week, but Richt needs to come out and thrash a opponent rather than sitting on the ball like he did against Ole Miss. “Hey coach, How about standing up and telling us how you are going to turn the SS Mediocrity around instead of telling fans how to cheer”
He was going to turn it around this year by becoming a “Football Expert” in the off season. Remember that bizzare statement he made at the end of last season? And oh yea, he changed the Strength coach, yippee. How did that change work out, they were gassed against Boise State in the 2nd quarter!
So I would give him an “F” in his performance so far. The idiot still can’t see a fake FG or fake punt coming. I said on the blogs last Friday that Houston Nutt would run a trick play, and that I thought it would be a fake punt. Turns out it was an onside kick but at least I had the forethought to think something would be coming! Not Richt and his staff of Morons, they never have a clue.
Ole Miss was a bad team and we barely pulled it out. Miss State is a much better team. Richt better study hard this week on becoming that Football Expert.

96-34 overall
6 years with 10 wins or more
3 appearances in BCS bowls
2 BCS bowl wins
2 SEC Titles
1 coach did that in the last 40 years. Not Dooley, not Goff, not Donnan. Dooley had some great years scattered about his 25 years, but still only won 1 Sugar Bowl and had 4 .500 or less seasons. Point is, UGA has truly only had two down years and we have now forgotten about the 8 years prior to 2009 when the Dawgs were a contender in EVERY game.

During the Boise State game at the dome, I had a conversation with a group of the worst UGA fans I have ever been around. This one clown screamed non-stop…which eventually really annoyed the people I was with. I politely had a conversation with the guy where I asked him to cheer the same way Richt does in the first 4 paragraphs of this article almost word for word! When I asked this imbecile to wait until the BSU line up to scream when it would make a difference, I was told that I was not a fan and didn’t know what I was talking about. I was told I didn’t know how to cheer because I had never been to LSU too. Eventually I crossed the line and called him a retard–I apologize now to all retarded people for lumping them in with this guy.
So to the annoying full time screamer, his mouthy girlfriend, the chubby girl they were with, and her boyfriend that undressed me with his eyes the rest of the game…I will ask once more: Why don’t you wait to cheer or scream when it will matter?

This is what a caller said on the radio: “He has a point, cause Georgia has the fans so confused about what they are doing, we don’t know what to cheer for. But I do know this, if he loses another home game in Athens, I am going to cheer his but out of his job.”
Very cruel, but very funny, and contains a kernel of truth…lol. If CMR would have left out , ..”so Georgia fans, let me show you when to cheer..” and left everything else, then this would be a non issue. He was half-joking and mostly serious. Is it bad advice to yell and scream when the call from the sideline is in play? No not at all.

Even if GT went undefeated, you WILL NOT SURPASS Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Nebraska, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma St., and the list goes on and on. If Alabam, LSU, or Florida finish undefeated or with one loss, they go to the title game, not so for you, unless everybody loses twice.

No evaluating problem, no recruiting problem, no coaching problem! Some guys cut it… Others don’t. Simple – Survival of the fittest. The big fish that were in smaller ponds have to adapt. It takes some longer than others – Some never adapt. As a guy who has been there and done that, I can tell you that Players play! They have to want to be great – Some guys lose that desire once they get punched in the mouth!

It’s a matter of record. Why oh Why am I arguing with you about scheduling? It’s quite funny. So I guess the only reason CMR is 9-1 against GT is because of the soft conference schedule in the SEC? Once again, what is your point about UNC having 4 NFL caliber players on defense? What about the entire team? Please get a rational argument please!!! Save yourself. You are funny. UNC has just as many NFL caliber players as Boise St. South Carolina has an entire team full of NFL caliber players. In fact, South Carolina has back ups, guys who barely play, who make it to the NFL. Miss St. has more than 4 NFL caliber players on both sides of the ball. I don’t need their names. I look at the scouting combine each and every year and it amazes me how many “no name” players from the SEC are drafted ahead of other players on NFL “watchlists” every single year. So GT has played against 4 NFL caliber players this year so far, right? UGA has probably played against at least 30 so far. What say ye?

GT Joe you do not have much common sense. GT has played three “cupcakes” to start the year, and plays NC State, Virginia and Duke who are all worse than Vanderbilt. North Carolina does not have a coach and they have not beat anyone to date. GT will not be favored against Clemson, Virginia Tech and based on history should not be favored against UGA. Go play in that perennial Cupcake conference and take your licking in November. History says a 90% chance you will lose. Even in the remote chance GT goes undefeated Alabama or LSU, Oklahoma/Oklahoma State, Boise State, Wiconsin, etc. will all play in BCS Championship instead of another also ran from the ACC. I’ve got a deal for da Preacha Man. The fans in the stands will match Markt Richt on Saturday. They will provide at least as much passion and emotion to the team from the stands as Preacha Man will show from the sidelines. We will yell and scream at least as loud as Richt.

Apparently GT Joe doesn’t even understand the GT offense since he keeps using that garbage excuse of the backup QB last year being why they lost. First, that offense is designed to only need a QB that can run the option, dump the ball off every now and then and when the defense loads up the box, throw the ball behind them. That’s it. So it doesn’t really matter who the QB is.
Second, that backup QB that apparently, according to you, cost GT the game against UGA last year .. Tevin Washington, you know, the guy you keep pitching as the second coming of college Michael Vick?

Um Tampa, askin a redshirt sophomore to come in and run the most complex offense in the nation is a tall task. And yes, it is the most complex offense in the nation, requires QB decision making at the line on every play, reading the D every play, and making decisions during the play (esp. the triple option play). When was the last time a GT QB went pro? or took one snap?
So GT has an offense more complicated than every team in the NFL? So Brady, Vick, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Flacco, and Ryan do none of the things you stated above?
Dude, you know absolutely nothing about football. I don’t even see why we are having a football debate. That was a cheerleader’s opinion!!!

Prediction – Malcome will leave the team in the near future. I don’t know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, but it obviously could be either one. Sounds like he’s not necessarily happy. A player with a bad attitude leaving would be a good thing. However, maybe he is happy and just needs to get in gear. That would be a good thing. I do think CMR needs to get into a serious conversation with players like Malcome to find out what is really going on with them. Then and only then can appropriate decisions be made.

Those offenses I named above is CPJ’s on steroids!!! To include NFL-caliber and Heisman candidate QB’s (and a few winners, I might add) CPJ has yet to produce ONE!!! Even Nebraska and Oklahoma (when they did run an option attack) has Heisman winners. Stop it!!! That offense is pretty simple: Get isolation on one defender, and blow by him for a big play. It’s all about putting a hat on every head and getting your RB or QB in a mismatch with a LB. Or draw in the DB’s for one on one match ups to the outside. That’s why CPJ alwasy stressed last year about execution and execution only. IF executed just right, the offense is pretty simple. When things go wrong, that’s when the playbook has to open up. Oh, you only have about 10 plays….lol.

my cousin Earl from Vidalia sent me this idea about a new recruiting tool for the Univ, of Georgia. He says this “Pantsuit of Mediocrity” would feature black and red pants with the Georgia “G” and “UGA” patches sewn on both pants and jacket. Here is his idea:
forget that stupid bell ringing video uga uses as a recruiting tool…”the pantsuit of mediocrity” video would be a great tool for recruiting the type of students that end up in athens…you could feature a uga grad in his “pantsuit” working as a third shift manager at a convenience store (business degree)..a female uga grad in her “pantsuit” doing inventory with a hand held scanner at a large grocery store (i.t. degree), and another grad in the “pantsuit” washing the windows at a nationally recognized medical clinic (pre-med studies)…effective and representative of the typical uga grad…truth in advertising sells…

earl from vidalia is my cousin too. his ideas sometimes don’t work very well. he came up with the “blackout idea” and the “power ranger uniform” idea was his too. he’s tryin to claim credit for the “vampire energy” thing. they don’t all work, but sometimes failure is the best teacher. he’ll hit on something soon. hear he’s floating a plan to get the fans to make alot of noise when miss st is calling their plays during this upcoming game. he’s tricky like that.

And now it seems as though that GT Joe has been thoroughly exposed for his lack of football knowledge. When you call a triple option offense “complex”, there is either a lack of knowledge or a screw loose.
He is still playing that “backup QB” excuse despite the fact that that backup QB in question was Tevin Washington who was certainly not making his first start. Let’s see, GT offense 101 .. do I pitch it or run through the hole? Sooo difficult to learn there. That’s why there is no real QB playing under CPJ. He basically has 3-4 RBs in the backfield on nearly every play.

So Tampa, you are basically saying that Bobo is smart? He is the dumbest O.C. in college football, and he is Richt’s boy. Says alot about how complicated it is to run UGA’s offense. Bobo has 2 running plays in his offense, a delayed draw, and off tackle. And he has the most predictable offense in college football. Once inside the redzone, throw a pass in corner of endzone on 1st down, run up the middle on second down, and throw on 3rd down when the entire stadium knows it, and the defense is bringing the house. For any UGA fan to go on a blog and brag about how complex UGA’s offense is, when everyone knows it it the most predictable offense in the SEC shows how much you know about football. Tech runs a high school offense, but UGA has a high school O.C. running it’s offense, so which is better. They both SUCK!!

ok, first 4ever, let’s not put words in my mouth. I said UGA runs a pro style offense. That comes from NFL scouts rating UGA’s draft potential players, NOT ME. And if you are smarter than those guys are then you would be too busy scouting players to be on here. Is a pro style offense more complicated than that crap GT runs? Yep, that too is something I said. Nothing more. As I have said before, you can have your own opinion but not your own facts.

The head coach giving instructions to the fans as to the when they should make the most noise so as to disrupt the play calling of the opposing team speaks negatively about the head coach. If I were on the other team, this would motivate me and the remaining team members to win by a large margin. Winning by playing fair is one thing, called competition, but trying to win by tricks is unacceptable. Whatever respect I had for the head coach was lost forever.

So, let me get this straight, it’s “fair”, according to your reasoning, for fans to be quiet when a team, especially the visiting opponent, has the ball? And I guess you would expect the same when UGA comes to The Flats this year? So, when did football become the gentlemen sport like tennis or golf?
I’m just wondering how “disrespectful” CMR was to suggest such a thing as fan noise in a stadium….hahahahha

Ellijay–Whats going on is that players not good enough to crack the top 4 or5 at their position want to transfer to a smaller school where they can get to play. Basically dead wood on the beach. Frees up scholarships for this years class.

Pollyana, Which boys do we get behind again ? Forget about the coaching staff ? Are we to be NOT behind the 27 run-off already for 2011 that this coaching staff we aren’t supposed to discuss gave scholarships to to play this season and now are gone ? What about the ones on the fence ? Do we, say, support Ray Drew ? Do we stop supporting Ray Drew when he too quits for playing only a couple of snaps vs Coastal Carolina and not 1 other play all season long ? Pollyanna, Pollyanna, Pollyanna, you have college football confused with your local recreation department. Yes, where everybody gets playing time and trophies at the end of the year. So in the college ranks if they don’t earn playing time then they don’t get it. I’m sorry if that offends you. So if they need to go somewhere else to get their playing well let em go. So please don’t confuse your playing days (you know those great years as a recreation department hero) with college football. Just saying..

Tampa, when I say our defense is more complex than a pro style offense, it’s because there are so many nuances to master, like timing, mesh points, decision making during plays, blocking schemes, etc.
Pro style hand off left, right, throw it here, there, etc. is NOT complex, and NOT hard to master. Much less thinking involved. Tevin Washington could EASILY run your offense, but maybe his arm isn’t as good as Murrays. It’s a physical thing, not a mental thing.

Could murray run our offense? Sure, after thousands of practice reps and hundreds of game reps(which Tevin did NOT have by the time the UGA game rolled around last year).
Martinez stopped our offense? LOL. What year was that? 2008 when we rolled up 500 yards of offense? OR was it 2009 when Nesbitt got hurt and our backup handed you an INT on his first throw? Surely you can’t be thinking of Grantham last year, 512 yards of total offense with a backup QB?

Oh yeah, FYI, we ran the triple option FIVE times against UNC. Please don’t assume that’s the only play we run. Watch a game and learn something. Better yet, listen to someone who knows more about it than you.

GT – I think the real problem you’re experiencing here is the fact that this is an article that has ZERO to do with Tech. If you want to discuss Tech football, it would probably make more sense to do so in connection with an article about, well, Tech football. As far as I know, I don’t know you, although I do have several friends who graduated from Tech, and, therefore, I have no reason to think badly about you except for the fact that you seem somewhat obsessive about butting in where you are not deemed to be relevant. Your comments are often indicative of a good understanding of Tech football and what CPJ is doing there. BTW, I like what CPJ is doing and respect the way he does most things. It’s just that those observations are not really appropriate in connection with an article that has ZERO connection to Tech football. As a result, people find the intrusion to be intentionally obnoxious. I must say that based upon your apparent level of intelligence, I would agree because you do not appear to be so stupid that you would somehow think your intrusion is proper.

To me, that speaks volumes on how far UGA has fallen as a true football power – when the head coach has to really use the crowd to try to get a leg-up against the opposing team. Wow – I mean come-on – CMR really has to instruct the crowd on when and how to be loud – in hopes that it will cause offensive lineman to jump??? Why doesn’t he concentrate more on coaching his kids how to play to win, rather than the fans.
