A few quick items . . .
Whether the game will air on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU won’t be determined until after this week’s action. But in any case the 7 p.m. start at Neyland Stadium is firm, according to the SEC.
It will be UGA’s first night kickoff since the season opener against Boise State in the Georgia Dome.
Two other SEC games also are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts on Oct. 8 – Vanderbilt at Alabama and Auburn at Arkansas. Those games, plus Georgia-Tennessee, will be divvied up among the ESPN networks.
Crowell, who shared the honor with Kentucky running back Josh Clemons two weeks ago, claimed it outright this week for his performance at Ole Miss.
Crowell had season highs in carries (30) and yards (147) in Georgia’s 27-13 victory Saturday. His 30 carries were the most by a Georgia player since Knowshon Moreno’s 33 against Florida in 2007.
Averaging 102.8 yards rushing per game, Crowell ranks No. 2 in the nation among freshmen, behind only Bowling Green’s Anthon Samuel (107 yards rushing per game).
Crowell has surpassed 100 yards rushing in both of his SEC games.
Rambo had two interceptions against the Rebels, giving him four in the three games he has played this season — more picks than any Georgia player had in all of last season. Rambo leads the NCAA in interceptions per game (1.33).

Washaun isn’t exactly tearing it up against sub-par competition. He had 2 fumbles against that powerhouse Chattanooga and was not even Jax State’s leading rusher against GA State. His stats per game have been actually pitiful…

Spraying Leg humpers with the garden hose — well gosh dude, since kerryb was comparing AM to Brantley, I would rather have AM. And “midget”??? I didn’t know Drew Brees was a midget. Funny though, that guy is the same size as AM, listed at 6′1″ .. Mason is listed at 6′3″ .. and if you know anything about PLAYING QB, which I am sure you don’t, that 2 inch difference makes NO DIFFERENCE behind the line. Especially when any good group of D-lineman raise their hands right at the pass and become 7 foot giants. QBs look for passing lanes no matter what size they are.

Except for the Eastern Illinois game, he’s been UNDER 4 yards per carry. He has played one more game than Crowell, is a Junior, and playing against “competition” that is nowhere in the same solar system as the defenses IC has ran against. You sir, need to check your stats

I have seen John Brantly play and Aaron Murray play. I would take Murray any day. Idiots that make comments about Murray winning against certain teams must be dumb enough not to know that football is a TEAM game.

Third time I’ve said this. Aaron Murray would be starting for 10 of 12 SEC teams this coming Saturday. Call him a midget if you want, but he’s the real deal. Anyone that says otherwise is just hatin’! If you Dawgs don’t want him, send him to Gainesville!

Beast from the East, actually UGA owns the gators, 47–40–2. Yes, you’ve had a good run in recent history, but just know that we’re only a coaching change away from remedying the situation. Too bad you nabbed a former UGA player as your new HC before we could. Unfortunately for you, mullets and jean shorts are your cultural norms that apparently will never change. Sorry to break it to you.

Saban is a Tech fan

He is a regular at the cheerleader parties but the problem is, all the male Tech cheerleaders have restraining orders against him.
He blogs as Saban because his own team is 1-9 versus a coach about to get fired.

Spraying, I guess it’s beyond you to MISS THE FREAKING POINT! That point being, at 6′1″, that’s not midget size and if it was so short, don’t think Brees would be dominating NFL defenses. I guess catching the point is waaaaay beyond you though and you’re still ingorant of the QB position to think that it makes that big of a difference.

ga gator, okay he threw ONE pick. That happens but he wasn’t THE reason they lost the game. There were several reasons we lost that game when we shouldn’t have. Was he covering on the punt team when they allowed a DE to run for a TD? Did he miss a field goal? Yes, he fumbled when he was blasted up the middle because 2 O-linemen allowed a DE to run right between them untouched. SAme thing that happened to Matt Ryan yesterday. He dropped back had the ball in his right hand and turned around and got hit immediately. Not many QB’s are going to hang on to the ball.

TampaDawg, Murray is definately the better athlete, but you also cannot compare Brantley running the spread option last year with this year. Murray is in his 3rd year in this system and Brantley is in his first. Murray would probably be the answer right now but lets see how the year plays out.

Regarding Murray, he also lost one of the best WR’s in the country and has a freshman and converted linebacker trying to pick up blitzes. He’s not getting the help he needs, but he’s still making enough plays to win the games. If Crowell continues to run the way he has lately, that should keep the defenses honest.

You DAWG fans are going to do the same thing to Crowell that you have done to Ealey, King and others (like Murray maybe?) in the past. You are going to build him up, and then turn your back on him later on. The kid has only played 4 games. Why don’t we give him a few more games before crowning him the second coming of Christ?
kerryb

4:50 pm
Unbelievavle, I don’t believe that that was the case with King and Ealey. UGA fans didn’t really build them up. King came along at the time Moreno was here so everyone was more focused on him. Ealey was a good rated RB but not a great. Those two just self destructed on their own. We turned our backs on one because he couldn’t stop getting arrest and the other because he couldn’t pass his classes and also wouldn’t go to traffic court when he was suppose to.

kerryb,
Can’t really blame him for relying heavily on AJ. Who wouldn’t look for him first….especially a RS freshman? Like I said, if Crowell continues running well, then you should also see Murray’s stats improve. Not that they’re too bad right now.

Kuperman is DEAD RIGHT!
The line when compared to AL, Fla, Ark, LSU looks fat, slow and unmotivated…they don’t move well at all. Love UGA but just watch the film!!!!
Murry has not got it done against teams that matter….we celebrate wins against CC and Ol miss….really…..until he beats an SEC team with a winning record then I could care less about his stats!
I would add….why is Washington still at D end…..give me break already….i think i have seen him make three positive plays in four games now…..put drew in already!

You right, this offense is set up by play action. If Crowell is running well the pass opens up for us. We just have to have better line play. If they can straighten the O-line out with all the injuries, this team is going to be really good.

Did anyone else notice how hampered Crowell was in the second half and got moreso as the game progressed? He started out averaging around 7 per carry, then seemed to get slower, possess less shiftiness and his per carry average plummeted. Their defense should have been wore plum out and he should have been running them ragged toward the end. Something ain’t right.

kerryb….ALL offenses are good (or bad) based on how the offensive line plays…no news flash there.
If your O-line can’t run or pass block, then it wouldn’t matter if you had Joe Montana and Walter Peyton. Regardless of skilled position athletes, football games are won or lost of the lines of scrimmage.

I Crowell has 2 rush td’s so far in 4 games, av 1/2 td rush per game, will finish with 6 rush td’s.
W Ealey had 11 rush td’s last season.
My guess is Crowell, Thomas, Samuel combined might be able to get 8 rush td’s.
