UGA-Tennessee game time set; Crowell No. 2 freshman runner in nation

A  few quick items . . .

  • Georgia’s Oct. 8 game at Tennessee will start at 7 p.m. and be televised on one of the ESPN networks, it was announced today.

Whether the game will air on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU won’t be determined until after this week’s action. But in any case the 7 p.m. start at Neyland Stadium is firm, according to the SEC.

It will be UGA’s first night kickoff since the season opener against Boise State in the Georgia Dome.

Two other SEC games also are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts on Oct. 8 – Vanderbilt at Alabama and Auburn at Arkansas. Those games, plus Georgia-Tennessee, will be divvied up among the ESPN networks.

  • For the second time this season, the SEC honored Georgia tailback Isaiah Crowell as its Freshman of the Week.

Crowell, who shared the honor with Kentucky running back Josh Clemons two weeks ago, claimed it outright this week for his performance at Ole Miss.

Crowell had season highs in carries (30) and yards (147) in Georgia’s 27-13 victory Saturday. His 30 carries were the most by a Georgia player since Knowshon Moreno’s 33 against Florida in 2007.

Averaging 102.8 yards rushing per game, Crowell ranks No. 2 in the nation among freshmen, behind only Bowling Green’s Anthon Samuel (107 yards rushing per game).

Crowell has surpassed 100 yards rushing in both of his SEC games.

  • Another Georgia player was recognized today for his performance at Ole Miss — safety Bacarri Rambo as the College Football Performance Awards  national Defensive Back of the Week.

Rambo had two interceptions against the Rebels, giving him four in the three games he has played this season — more picks than any Georgia player had in all of last season.  Rambo leads the NCAA in interceptions per game (1.33).

So now we are back to “I played college ball”

What a joke

Can’t defend your rant so you turn to “I played college ball”

Ealey is a selfish loser in my book

You can defend him all you want to

Won’t change my opinion

He had every chance to be part of a team and chose to not participate

Richt booted him

I say good riddance

Maybe he has changed his attitude

just a fan

Georgia is 8th (150.25), South Carolina 13th (160.50), Kentucky 14th (162.25), Florida 20th (175.25) and Vanderbilt 25th (182.25). Six SEC teams are also among the top 30 in the nation in scoring offense, led by Florida at 15th (40.25 ppg). Also, Arkansas (18th, 38.75 ppg), LSU (18th, 38.75 ppg), Alabama (21st, 38.50 ppg), Georgia (26th, 37.25 ppg) and Tennessee (30th, 36.67 ppg).

Ealey couldn’t hack it at UGA and is old news. Why is that idiot even bringing him up? Crowell looks to be a really good one. Needs to bulk up a little in the off-season and continue to work on his conditioning and he could be really special.

THey did not llok good. Ole Miss is the worst team in the SEC. Penalties killed OM. UGA had a lot of dropped passes. UGA is going to have to play a lot better than that for the rest of the SEC schedule and it looks like GT has improved. Go game to game, but these guys need to get a lot better fast.

Rooster, since you said you have played college football. Is that in one game or did you play college football? Couldn’t figure it out from your sentence.

I PLAYED college football aswell. I just happend to have played at UGA and never lost to South Carolina. You do not get to this level of coaching and have ZERO idea as to what your doing.

Gee, it’s amazing what happens when you play your best player at Running Back, not just the oldest or most experienced. Talent always outweighs tenure in my opinion. Tenure and experience can make you aware of your surroundings, but ability, athleticism, and talent will always find a way to create something.and make something happen. I’m so glad Bobo has realized he needs to play Crowell more, the fans have only been screaming it since Signing Day.

It gets no easier from here.Miss St will be a very physical match up.We for sure need to be healthy after this game for the trip to Rocky Top. Richt must understand that wining with field goals wont work in the SEC week to week.Only in the NFL is this true.Good to see Crowell run well on saturday.

The dawgs have two problems. One, their offensive line is atrocious. Take a look at their first move on every play…..they stand straight up! Cardinal sin for an offensive lineman. We are either recruiting very soft players for our O-line or we are coaching them to stand up and gap block only. Watch Florida and LSU offensive lineman….they drive off the ball on every play and block multiple people on their way down field…..ruthless guys who love to wreak havoc…that’s the impression they give. For UGA….If our backs get through line of scrimmage…our offensive lineman are done….they just quit and watch. We don’t have any Max Jean’s around….nasty, get out of my face kind of guys. All our guys are passive. Have we coached them that way? Richt if you’re reading this (LOL)….I’ll coach your guys up to block someone, and if they don’t I’ll find the players who will……for half what you’re paying Friend.

Second, Aaron Murray ain’t playin so good. Unfortunately, the Ole Miss game was the game to sit him down in the first half, let HM get a start, and let Murray think about doin better (Richt would never do this because he’s not a risk taker). That opportunity is gone. If Murray doesn’t wake up, and our O-line keeps playin like girls, we wont win five more games. In the famous words of Pat Dye…Georgia ain’t man enough!!

We will hear a lot out of SSIgator this week as Bama is looming on the horizon, after last years total beat down Gator Nation will be a little more vile than the norm. I myself think they can play with Bama as long as they limit turnovers and penalties. Gators bring more speed on offense than Bama has had to deal with yet. This will be a real head knocker..

nice game for Crowell.

I know that I will be viewed as being too negative, but all this talk of being 2-2 and in the SEC East hunt doesn’t make sense to me.

Granted, matchmatically, we are 2-2 and we are still in the SEC hunt at 1-1, but that doesn’t tell the story of where this program is.

For those who think I am just looking for the negative, tell me where I am wrong: We won 1 game this year so far against a legitimate opponent . While it is ALWAYS good to win a road SEC game, Ole Miss is likely the worst team in the SEC. This only proves that we AREN”T the worst team on the SEC. When we have played teams with equal or even NEAR equal talent, we lose. This goes back to 2009.

If we go 9-3 this year and one of the wins is against FL, I’ll admit that I was wrong about this team(and I hope I get a chance to do just that).

Going 2-2 1/3 of the way through the season is not an accomplishment to be boastful about, at least it didn’t use to be. Dooley beat Ole Miss, Ray Goff beat Ole Miss, and Donnan beat Ole Miss. Georgia SHOULD beat Ole Miss routinely.

I see a slight improvement over last year, but we aren’t yet to the level that Donnan had the team in his last two years when Richt took over. If we beat Ms State and TN, I think we might be back to 2000 level UGA the year before Richt took over.

Those that say that Richt is the only guy that can get 8 or 9 wins for Georgia and is worth the $3M. I respectfully disagree.

I get a better laugh out of your posts than stand up comedy. Ealey is not playing better than IC because he is playing schools that aren’t as good as ICs high school team was. Ole Miss could run the table against the schedule Waaaaaashaun runs up against. I don’t buy that you played at USC because if you did, they would be forgetting who you are after reading this crap. There is such a difference in the competition level. If he was any good, another D1 school would have picked him up .. aka, Zach Mettenberger, Logan Gray, Jarvis Jones.

UGA will not lose to GT, they will not lose to UT and I think they can absolutely beat Auburn, Vandy and Miss St. If I am wrong, I am wrong. But with analysis like “Ealey is outperforming Crowell” I wouldn’t bank on Rooster’s prognostication ability at all.

Washed Up and Caleb were cancers. Glad that they are gone. If they were here, UGA would be far worse off. Crowell is a plus …………… so far. If/when Malcom gets beyond the pain, he will add a huge bit of help to UGA’s rushing attack.

Ken Malcom is a bruiser and could easily augment Carlton and IC and Samuel and add maybe 35-40 yds more per game. He runs low and hard and squared up and tough. He is a big back that can do some late game damage as the other teams wears down.

Go Dogs.

@Murphy I think this year if the Gators get in a slugfest with Bama they will get their clocks cleaned. They need to dunk and dink them to death, get those two speed demons out in space where they can break a tackle. For all my disdain for Weiss he is no fool the last thing he will try and do is run over Bama.
