Georgia has released a statement regarding the health of the Bulldogs’ legendary play-by-play voice Larry Munson.
From UGA spokesman Claude Felton:
“The family has asked me to convey that Larry Munson is recovering from a respiratory infection and is in stable condition.”
Munson, 89, permanently retired from calling Georgia games two games into the 2008 season due to declining health. He had stopped traveling to road games in the 2007 season. He was behind the mic for the Bulldogs for more than 40 years.

Vince Doodly, don’t forget miles too! As in “3rd down and a mile to go.” I certainly do miss him. Fantastic gentleman who also had a very active life outside of the booth. He had the best hunting and fishing stories.

“My God…only 89!” The entire Bulldog Nation wishes you Godspeed in your recovery. You probably have a little idea how much you’ve been missed. But, you, sir, are one of a kind; there WILL NOT BE ANOTHER LIKE YOU. God made you then broke the mold. HE knew then HE could not make you again.

As a Tech man, I sure miss Larry. He was magical. He made you think that a UGA game was the most important event in your life. He could say the most obvious things and you would think ” man, this is really critical”. Example: ” The dawgs are on the Auburn 3 yard line trying to get over the goal and Auburn’s defense dosen’t want to let ‘em do it” Obvious but when Larry said it you thought “gosh, what’s going to happen ?”. An irreplaceable presence.

Larry, miss you so much. I’ ll never forget being 10 years old on Sunday morning in 1980. My dad taped the GA – TN game on the old fashioned tape recorder and I memorized the incredible calls you had with Herschel. It will never be the same without you. Wishing you a speedy recovery. God Bless!

Let us make sure that the beloved Mr.Munson not watch Coastal Carolina defeat UGA tomorrow. We wouldn’t want to be responsible for this legend’s premature demise. And when we walk off the field victorious, you can continue your ranting and raving for your coach’s head.

Larry, I;m sure those Doc’s are “just so fast” and those Nurses are “just so big” but I’m sure you’ll get around them all and get home & well soon. I have a picture of you and your greatest calls (autographed by you of course) hanging in my TV room with all my other Dawg gear. One of my most prized possessions….

Hey UGA Alummy. I am willing to risk a ban on here and I am using my real name. And I am sure your some little punk trying to get a rise out of someone. Well you did. You are about the lowest kind of individual thier is to make a comment like that. And I wished I could be up and close to you so I could show you a little respect. People like you make me sick and I would like to show you a little old fashioned respect. And I would enjoy showing it to you in any possible way that would make you miserable. the only reason i was a dog fan as long as i was is because of Larry Munson when he left in 2008 a piece of me left with him..i no longer have to listen or watch the games because Larry made them mean so much to me that the art of play by play is gone.he was the best that ever will call a game period..no one can replace him. Wishing you the best Larry ..this is from a 37 year old man who when fall rolled around would always feel like a kid when Munson was calling a game.. Listened to him from the time I was 5 til he retired when I was 34 and it still made me feel like a kid waiting for him to Give Me The Picture every Saturday afternoon.. Thank for all the memories Larry and we know you can pull through this..I met you when you came to arbor place mall and it was the thrill of my life..again Thanks and Get well Larry

Get well, Larry. There’s some real bad bronchial crap going around. Mrs Fly and I have had it for over a week. I finally gave in and went to see the doc yesterday and he said “You’ve had this for a WEEK and didn’t come see me? Are you trying to Kill yourself?.” Lesson learned and thank goodness you were smarter than me and got some help. God bless you, Larry.

SEVEN REASONS WHY GEORGIA SHOULD BE CONSIDERING A COACHING CHANGE.
1-GEORGIA is a combined 0-5 against Top 25 teams in 2010 and 2011
2- GEORGIA has lost 10 of its last 12 against ranked teams. (2-10 record)
3- GEORGIA is now 14-14 in his last 28 games
4-GEORGIA is 6-10 in the past 16 SEC games.
5- GEORGIA is 2-5 in their last 7 games going back to last season
6- REMAINING SCHEDULE. Games they will probably lose: 1- Miss St. 2- Tenn 3-Florida 4-Auburn. Games we should win (if we don’t have an off week): 1- Costal Carolina, 2-Miss, 3- Kentucky, 4- New Mexico, 5-Tech, 6-Vandy.
LOOKS LIKE A 50/50 CHANCE OF ANOTHER LOSING SEASON.
7- It’s been 30 yrs since our last national championship…. Can Richt get us there? Are we trending in the right direction?
THE ABOVE SAYS……. NO!
