UGA President Michael Adams calls for support of football team, Richt

UGA President Dr. Michael Adams on Thursday called for Georgia football fans to unite in support of the team. His comments came during the fall semester meeting of the UGA Cabinet when asked to assess the job being done by 11th-year head coach Mark Richt.

Said Adams:

“I don’t believe I have ever commented on any coach mid season. You know the answer. What we do weith every head coach — every head coach, not just the high-profile head coaches – but at the end of the season the AD sits down and makes a judgment. Then he makes a judgment whether or not he needs to talk to the president about that.

“The issue for me right now is I think this is the time for all of us to come together and get behind this group of guys who played a heck of a game last Saturday and deserve our support. I’ve never folded on anything 15 or 20 percent into it, and that’s what we would be doing.

I’d love to see the stadium full Saturday for probably what will not be the most high-profile opponent we’ll play this year. I go to the locker room. I know these young men. I know a number of our student-athletes. We had a heck of an effort last Saturday. There’s nobody here who likes to win more than I do. But it’s time for us as a community to get behind this team, support them from now ’til the end of the season. And once the whole body of work is in, we’ll do what we do every year. We’ll see where we are.”

ALSO:

It seems there are a lot of folks coming out in support of Richt today . . .

What I don’t understand is the outcry for support. Give the fans a reason to support the team and they will. This team, and this program, should be beyond moral victories. Richt has had plenty of time to turn the ship around. Georgia is ahead of only Vandy in the SEC for the last two years. Does that kind of performance demand positive reinforcement? Time for Richt, Grantham, and Bobo to show all the vampires as they call them that they truly know what they are doing.

As a Tech fan, I still do agree with Adams. Even most of the legendary coaches had a few bumps in the road. Some advice…

Mutt fans (non-alums): stop embarrassing and giving a bad name to a school that you have no ties to! Real fans support a team even when they’re not winning. Seriously!

Dawg fans (alums): keep doin what you’re doing and support the team. In regards to the mutt fans, if you see one heading for the exits….as our own CPJ would say, “Punch em in the FACE!”

Go dawgs! That’s all I want to hear. Support the players, support the coaches, support the university. Go dawgs. Blind faith? Absolutely.

I only need one reason to supoprt this team. It’s the 2011 Georgia Bulldogs and it’s my team and I’ll support them through thick and thin. I don’t care if we don’t win another game. I’ll still be in my seats yelling for these kids. And I’ll be there next year too.

And if your team has to win a championship to earn your support, please stop worrying about Georgia and college football in general and go cheer for the Yankees.

I’m tired of hearing the whining from the fans. Just shut up and go support your team. That’s what your supposed to do.

And if Georgia’s administration decides to fire CMR, I’ll be there supporting whoever the next coach is. I was there for Goff and Donnan, and I’ll still be there in the years to come.

Go cheer for whoever’s winning and leave the rest of us alone.

There are dozens of coaches who could have coached Georgia to a 15-15 record their last 30 games (their record since the end of 08). I think the best single word to describe them is “underachievers”. Todd McShay of ESPN was right when he wrote “Georgia has no discipline, a vanilla offense, and their staff doesn’t make any mid-game adjustments on offense or defense. It’s time for a change.

Bulldogs fans will always keep supporting the Dawgs, it’s Richt they don’t want to support. If you want support for both the team and coaching, get a new coaching staff. I was at Bama during the Shula years, we never stop supporting the tide; but every store you went in had a cardboard cut-out of Shula with a bag over his head. Sometimes coaches just need to be fired. I realize Shula and Richt are on the same level, but just go ahead and get the firing over with so the team can move on.

Worm, your case was understandable. I still urge people to let those mutt fans have it if they give up on the team. 92,000 fans doesn’t mean as much if more than half are only half-hearted fans. Honestly, that’s why Sanford is a much quieter stadium when compared to most other SEC stadiums (plus all the drunks that are stumbling around trying to find their seats the whole game). Heck, even Miss St. is louder even without the cowbells.

And yeah, I saw the Auburn game. Everyone stopped in their tracks on the way out on the walkways and tried to watch from there. It was pretty humorous.

I will admit compared to UGA, Auburn required a miracle to win. Where as UGA had a legitimate chance at tying the game. They were down 10 points with all three timeouts and people still left. You represent the school you are cheering for, so stay in your seat, especially if it’s on National Television!

That’s what happens when you cheer for an SEC team, you gotta deal with a whole bunch of drunk bandwagon-ing dumbasses.

My girlfriend goes to UGA, and that’s the one thing she hates about the school. All the people that pretend to have some connection to UGA….I’m looking at you Gainesville State an Piedmont students that say “I go to school in Athens”!

No matter how you feel. Vince Dooley and Michael Adams have just issued the dreaded “vote of confidence”, BKA, the “Kiss of Death.” As much as I believe CMR has made some huge mistakes and his tenure has grown stale, I think it’s shameful for some of us fans to not support him. He is a man of character and conviction, two ingredients needed to turn around struggling programs. The AD and those in the “know”, will make the best decision when the time is right. The season has already started and Georgia football is at a crossroads. It has no choice but to transform. Let’s all get on board for the good of UGA football now and in the future.

Is this PR campaign a response to Paul Finebaum’s SI article?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/paul_finebaum/09/15/mark-richt/index.html

Excerpt: Back in January, Tarkenton told Atlanta station 680/The Fan that Richt “is a wonderful guy. He is a good Christian guy. He wants to be a missionary. He goes on missions. That is a wonderful thing. But do you know the religion of Nick Saban? Or Gus Malzahn? Or Chip Kelly playing for the national championship? I don’t think we care. We hire them to be football coaches. … Right now our program has had three years of regression, and I don’t see any way this thing is going to get out of the ditch.”

By the way, Tarkenton is the son of a Pentecostal minister. And when it comes to the sermon on Richt, he is preaching the gospel.

@ATL…you are correct and thanks for making this point. Our football team is a source of pride, and our Dawgs haven’t been that for a while. While I am not as optimistic as some, I agree that UGA fans need to stop ranting about dumping the current coaching staff. That cannot possibly do any good; UGA wouldn’t hire a permanent coach unitl after the season was over and removing the current head coacj would just create disarray for the rest of the season. UGA just needs to wait until the end of the season and then decide whether a change is needed.

That is exactly what happen last year and we saw where they were.. 6-7! Nothing was done except getting a good recuiting class. In spite of the fact that CMR constantly blames his players for anything negative about the football program. This is not I repeat NOT a player problem. It is coaching. This applies to every college president, not just Dr. Adams.

What he is saying is ‘ Lets get behind the team…so we can keep making millions of dollars to support all of our other programs that are funded by the sale of tickets, merchandise, drinks, hot dogs and memorablia. I need you to keep coming and buying those products to keep us afloat which allows me to keep all my pet projects and ideas moving forward”.

What he is not saying is that if Mark Richt is not retained and does not turn this around somebody is going to have to spend 8 million dollars to pay off his contract and to attract a decent coach to come in here and coach these young men. Either way he loses, but his best option is hoping and praying and begging for the fans to keep attending and CMR winning some important games against teams that make a difference and not the directional schools we play to fill the schedule.

What’s that quote from Remember the Titans? ATTITUDE REFLECTS LEADERSHIP.

I take offense to the fact that the FANS (i.e. the PAYING CUSTOMERS) are to blame for the product on the field.

I was loyal when we lost 49-10 vs. Florida. I was loyal when we QUIT vs. Tech in 2008. I was loyal when we blew the LSU game in 2009. I quit being loyal after that Tennessee blowout in 2009 where our defense made Jonathan Crompton look like Peyton Manning( oh yeah and we didn’t score a SINGLE OFFENSIVE TD IN THAT GAME!!!). UGA has not improved one iota since.

So let me get this straight Dr. Adams, you want be to keep lining UGA’s pockets even when they put a garbage product on the field? MKAY…that’s like me going to McDonald’s, them getting my order wrong 3 times, and then when I rightfully complain the manager says that I need to be more supportive of the Golden Arches.

Um No….how it works is that you put a product out there people want to buy, and then AS THE LEADER you stand behind the quality of that product. UGA football the last 3 years has not been a quality product. And the leadership at my institution seems uninterested in fixing it. Sorry Mikey, but laziness and apathy does not get my support.

I got serious doubt most of you even go to, or watch a game. I am not defending CMR, BUT 2 years ago they had double digit penalties every game that year. Last year they averaged what, about 5? Last year 15 players arrested in the off season. This past year, zero. CMR has and still is addressing problems with quality results. He and staff went out and recruited a very good class (Dream Team) last year. From the articles I have read, they have another one mostly lined up for this year. All the negative bit^%#ng most of you guys do, is not helping in that regard at all. Except for those of you that are imitations and actually GT fans with nothing better to do, because you really wish you were a Dog fan instead. Face it, everyone knew that the first 2 games were going to be extremly hard to win. With 10 games to go, I think the right thing to do is either get on board, or shut your pie hole at least until the end of the season. Makes no sense to keep whining now, when an AD or President in their right mind would not even give a hint of making a change until the season is over. So either your really just a Tech fan trying to use your Engineering skills to create trouble, or you just like doing what your doing now and probably wouldn’t matter if Jesus Christ himself were running the team. gomdawg – any coach who is a competitor would come to Athens…same reason why NYC & Philly teams never find it too difficult to get a coach to come in. Bama, Texas, OU, Nebraska – high demands themselves. Any coach who has a pair will give it a shot and the challenge to keep his team at the top year in and year out because of the fans’ demand will only add more of a rush. Any coach not up for it will not be capable of handling the pressure.

trouble – Most of us can agree Adams is a useless sack of crap. Then again he is a school president.

Ihssmith – Agree. I not understand why those who are not happy are viewed as a lesser fan. By definition a fan in the manner used on here are suppose to be angry and vocally rabid folks (or supportive) who do not necessarily allow logic to dictate their view of their team. McGarity: “It’s a week by week evaluation”.
Adams: “We keep our head in the sand until year end and then pretend to think about it”

Bulldog football player: “Let’s convert this 3rd down for a First!”
Bob: “Let’s try a draw and run it up the middle on 3rd and 23. After all, odds are if we try it 50 times it oughta work once!”

Bulldog fan: “Let’s win one freaking game against a ranked team!”
Richt: “Let’s play Barbie-doll dress-up with these pretty uniform and costume changes, instead.”

Honest fan: “When the patient is sick, give it strong medicine.”

As a last resort, maybe Richt could let the team play one more time in their Nike clown costumes.

STEPHEN A. SMITH DAWG: I watch college football 2, y'all

September 15th, 2011
7:32 pm

Hey Y’all, football at UGA these days is so bad UGA prez. Michael Adams and his AD are down to a ten game season to evaluate whether the head coach stays or goes. As y’all know basketball is my game, but I took at this situation number 9 at down at UGA and it’s blowin’ my mind” ! The sentiments from various news outlets around the country are saying beleaguered Mark Richt, 14-14 (for last 28 games) must go 9-1 to save his job and his seat is the consensus number one coaching hotseat in the country. The UGA coaching staff and delusional segments of its fanbase has felt so sorry for themselves through the losing it now has reverted to pity parties searching for moral victories in losses. My, my.my, what in the name of Erk Russell is goin’ on down thurr in Georgia? Because the team had a poor outing against Boise and played more competitively versus SCarolina should not overshadow this team still has major problems at quarterback, playcalling & coaching, depth on O-line, RB, and LB. In other words despite showing vital life signs in the second game, this is still an erratic, soft, undersized team that at best plays to the level of its competition. The quarterback is graciously listed at 6-1, but looks and plays more like he is 5-9. Several of his passes against SC barely got over the line of scrimmage without being deflected. By constantly lining up in the shotgun is an admission he can’t dropback or needs help getting a clear look down the field after the snap or both. In other words the coaching staff is trying to compensate for Murray being too short to play the position. Also lining up in the shotgun in a crucial 3rd and “ONE” yard to go situation is a silent admission to the defense we are a pass first, finesse (soft) team on offense. Why not lineup in the power I formation, punch the damn defense in the mouth and give the rock to my man, I. Crowell. Richt & Bobo couldn’t do it because UGA is so soft ! They have Murray toss a deflected pass for a virtual unknown WR to make a miracle catch, which got him a “hug” from Richt. Holy Dawg crap ! Whassup wit dat Y’all, when was the last time you saw Saban give a player a hug during a Bama game. Okay I get it, he’s a good man for nuturing his players for overachieving, but would he have hugged that guy if he had dropped the pass? And what about my man, TE OC7 ? He didn’t get a ball thrown his way all day and Richt praised his blockin skills. I wonder if OC got a hug for blockin’? So playcalling in spots is still spotty on offense and now we see how smart it is to change a 4-3 defense to at 3-4 defense when you don’t have the kind of depth at linebacker that you need for a 34 defense. The Richt has instructed his DC, Grantham to turn safeties to LBs rendering depth at safety thin. Didn’t Richt turn one of y’alls RBs to LB and then sent the dude back to RB. Didn’t Richt run my homeboys runnin’ backs WE3 and CK4 outta da program, sayin’ it was addition by subtraction. Add it all up and all I see is losing and division y’all. Look y’all, we can go on and on about UGA’s problems, but we aren’t paid millions to blog about the numerous problems which plague a once proud program. At this point UGA is a pitiful program in disarray mired in mediocrity. So cut to the chase, asking for a smallish, undercoached, soft, team with little to no depth in vital areas to go 9-1 just to save an incompetent coaches’ job is like asking me to stop Shaq from dunkin’. UGA might win more games than they lose, but they still haven’t performed well enough to give anyone who isn’t delusional, reasons to think they will play and coach .900 football in the next 10 games after playing and coaching .500 football in its last 28 games. CMR, got some advice for you cuz, it’s gettin’ hot in herrre and you is fakin’ the funk, the game has passed you by my man, and in the tough SEC wit no coachin’ game ya gotta step aside and give somebody else a shot or stay and get ya self fired. Be cool y’all and DAWGS HUNKERDOWN Y’ALL !!

Since all you really care about is how many Benjamins are going in the till, let me put my UGA Business School ed-u-macation to work and offer you a bus’ness proposal. Fire all the coaches right now, and I’ll take the place of all them for only $100K for the rest of the season. Saves you about $9M that you can use for new mahagonay paneling in your office, and I’ll guarantee to lose just as many games as these clowns do.

What? Don’t like that proposal because you want to win as many as you can? So, you’re willing to pay $9M to maybe win 4 games if you’re extremely lucky? That comes out to over $2M per victory. You must really hate Coastal Carolina, New Mexico State, Vandy, and GT. Hell, let Russ coach for kibble alone. The SEC standings at year end would still be the same.

We lost a whole season with Knowshon becasue of mr nice guy being loyal to OBVIOUSLY lessor qualified RBs. Don’t give me missed blocking crap. Teach your most qualified players to play and play them. We should have gotten rid of Martinez at least two years before we did. Bobo is a joke and he should NEVER have been named offensive coodinator. Ask any coach in the SEC who the most predcictable play caller is in the SEC and Bobo is the answer. Have we called anything but a screen or a draw on a 3rd and long in the first two games this year? And are you kidding me? Georgia WILL win several games in a row. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING. Our schedule from here on out is against teams that if we don’t beat there is a MAJOR problem. The real problem is that it USED to be a major problem when we lost to Boise State OR South Carolina. Pleas don’t drink the Kool-aide people. If i made millions of dollars a year to do my job unsuccessfully I’m confident I would be fired. Why is it different for CMR?

1-Georgia is a combined 0-5 against Top 25 teams in 2010 and 2011
2- GEORGIA has lost 10 of its last 12 against ranked teams. (2-10 record)
2- GEORGIA is now 14-14 in his last 28 games
3-GEORGIA is 6-10 in the past 16 SEC games.
4- REMAINING SCHEDULE. Games they will probably lose: 1- Miss St. 2- Tenn 3-Florida 4-Auburn. Games we should win (if we don’t have an off week): 1- Costal Carolina, 2-Miss, 3- Kentucky, 4- New Mexico, 5-Tech, 6-Vandy.

Since when has it been ok for USCe and Boise Freakin state to be ranked higher than UGA. 6-9 in your last 15 games is just not acceptable. I’ll always support my dawgs win, lose or draw……. But when is this team going to step up and give us a reason to have faith. Blowing out CC this week will only show how much talent we have, I’m sorry but Bobo is not an SEC OC. And my point to prove that is. How many times has another team tried to pull him away from UGA as any type of coach. NONE! Gus Malzahn in 10% of the time has had more calls than Bobo. Would you buy a used car from Michael Adams?. He personifies sleaze.

Didn’t Adams hire Damon “Red” Evans?

He and Richt have a lot in common. Anyone with a high school education could have moved the university along further than he has over the past few years with the state-supported Hope scholarship program.

As far as I’m concerned, if you’re not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. I find it offensive that Adams is trying to shift his own lousy decisions on Richt onto the shoulders of the alumni and fans.

Adams isn’t any more indispensable than Richt. Adams does not seem to really grasp or rever our great football tradition.

This is the man who pulled the basketball team from the SEC tournament then called the police on players who wanted to talk to him. Adams concern is his own self interest–financial and political in that order. If donations decline, Adams will cut Richt in a blink. Who gave Richt the big contract, anyway? The puppet Evans?

Its pretty sad when the UGA president steps to podium, raises his arms and says for everybody to help UGA slay might coastal carolina. Georgia has stooped to a new low. BTW, Miss State is only down 6-3 to LSU at the present time. They will be a real pushover for Georgia October 1. Could Georgia be 1-4 on 10-1-11.

In that truck commercial, Richt says, “When people pay Georgia, they know they got hit.” And, apparently, he’s satisfied with that. But, first, Richt should not be allowed to use Georgia for proprietary interests– can’t one of you Georgia alum who is attorney sue him for that. Also, with Richt at the helm, when people play Georgia, if they’re a little bit better than a high school team, they know they’re going to win against a pathetic coach who has no talent or drive.

Great idea. We need a Blackout this weekend to show our support for the Dawgs. It will be touch and go against Coastal Carolina and that might just be the diffference…

I put a lot of credibility in what a couple of real live UGA football heroes say about Mark Richt: Fran Tarkenton and Herschel Walker. They call it like it is, even if they receive flack from the blind homer losers. Fran and Herschel have made it clear that it is past time for Richt to leave.

Adams is slimy. Just quit donating money to the Georgia Fund until changes are made; write Adams a note to let him know…

Anyone who thinks that UGA can beat Miss State, Ole Miss, Tenn, Auburn, Florida are crazy and need to be put in padded rooms.

Talk about quitting on your team. No thanks, we’ve got that already in Athens. And sure we could replace coordinators… again… but it’s getting a bit late to do that. At some point you have to realize the best coordinators are not interested in a Richt run Georgia. They see red flags. That’s probably how we ended up with a over grown punk H.S. kid like TC.

The slide began after the loss to WVU. Folks give Van Gorder too much credit. Just look at what he is doing with the Falcons. Bend but don’t break defense with a soft zone. Check the tape. He did the same thing at UGA. He won with Donnan’s players as much as Richt did. He depends too much on his front four to create pressure and he got away with it because he had playmakers at every position. Martinez continued this soft zone trend, and now CTG. This represents a finesse style of play in the manner of the HC.

What Adams – not my favorite guy either – and Dooley are saying, and what plenty of ‘true’ Georgia fans are saying, is that now is exactly the worst time to be attacking the coaches and players. We have an opportunity to do some good this season and our job as fans is to yell our damn heads off in support of the team and to make sure that they know we appreciate what they do – and that includes the coaches.

Those of us that appreciate that role will ‘circle the wagons’ – leaving you naysaying caterwaulers outside…and, by the way, we plan to ‘make every shot count’.

Laughing at the MSU is the best 1-2 team in the nation, for beating up on Memphis and losing to what will eventually be a very average Auburn team, and playing just well enough at home to stay within 2 Tds of LSU.. Only SEC west team Mullen has beaten is Ole Miss.

The kool aid drinkers need to stop bashing those fans who think this program is headed in the wrong direction. Just because we aren’t fans of CMR does not mean that we aren’t true fans. It is possible to be fans of the program and university without being a fan of the head coach. UGA is bigger than one head coach.

That was an extremely lukewarm statement of support from Adams. Notice he said “I don’t believe I have ever commented on any coach mid season. You know the answer. What we do weith every head coach — every head coach, not just the high-profile head coaches – but at the end of the season the AD sits down and makes a judgment.” Pretty much says it all – if Richt does not win out, we will be searching for a new head coach at the end of the season.

Come on Lake dawg, there is no such thing as the “see no evil” crowd. Not exactly what Florida did the last four coaches they had (although even from a dawg fan’s perspective it’s hard to count Ron Zook). Bama brought in Saban from the Dolphins but let’s be honest. He was still a college coach checking out the NFL scene. I think it needs to be the best O-coordinator in college.

That being said, I am still hopeful Richt turns the program around THIS year and rids Bobo of the OC duties and brings in that same guy mentioned above.

I think the fan base has proven they are 100% behind the Dawgs with how many strait home game selling out. I don’t know the number but I do know it’s been years since a home game didn’t sell out. That doesn’t mean the fan base doesn’t want the team to improve and don’t have the right to question things especially when we lose on a continual bases.
For me, I know we have gotten enough great recruits the last 5 years that we should have a much better record over that time. I think the players are great , It’s the coaches that have let everybody down. I question their ability to get us to a higher level. Isn’t that what our goal should be, to get to the next level.

I agree that CMR is the coach that should be at Georgia. I also agree that Bobo should not be offensive coordinator and I would like to keep him at QB coach. Bobo is all Dawg and you can’t beat his loyalty to Georgia but I can question his ability to handle the offensive coordinators job.
If Georgia can pay their head coach 2.9 million a year they should be willing to pay their coordinators at least 1 million or more a year. Put those figures out there and I guarantee we will get some top NFL coaches interested in the offensive coordinators job.

Exactly! Why should anyone stick around for crap. We’re lucky anyone wants to watch a team loaded with 4-star recruits lose 9 out of their last 13 games, omitting the two cupcakes from last year (La.-La and Idy State). College football is one of the few businesses where the paying customer is always wrong.

My personal preference is to see fans stay to the end while there’s still a remote chance to win. But as far as I’m concerned a paying customer can come and go as he or she pleases, it’s nobody else’s business. These tickets aren’t cheap.

Not sure why folks think Coach Bobo does such a great job at QB coach, but just “calls plays” poorly. UGA’s offense is heavy on the QB reading the defense at the line and making the correct decision. When that goes well, the only thing wrong with the playcalling is nitpicking stuff. When the OC looks his absolute worst, it falls directly on the responsibility of the QB coach. Playcalling is easy to blame, but it’s the preparation and execution that has killed them. That’s on the position coach(s).

Personally I think it’s foolish to think that any HC would ever make the leap to hire a new OC but then handcuff him to a recently demoted assistant.

I think he was comparing beating FSU in the Sugar bowl as SEC champs (as a 2nd year coach) to the win over Michigan. (as it related to the point being made) Not Mullen’s best year Vs Richt’s worst.

Mullen would have to be someplace for a decade or more to know if he would never have some down years to really have a fair comparison. History would not be on his side for that.

Way to sum it up Altamaha .. as for the “he does less with more”, he has a QB that, like Richt with David Greene, he didn’t recruit. That QB, Relf, is the top offensive weapon MSU has. And as the last two games have shown, shut him down, and its lights out for Mullen’s boys. Richt was running multiple QBs out there at that time and winning with it. Hmmm, maybe he should try that again.

1. First to Altamahadog: If I had been Adams, I would have established engineer schools five years ago. GT got into business twenty years ago but UGA was scared of “turf” and chose not to fight for engineering. As a result, we have now only started to establish our engineering schools and will continue to lag behind UNC which Adams himself set as his goal to move UGA above academically.

2. On da Preacha Man, Richt is a dead man walking. Adams giving him his “vote of support” is like Brutus praising Caesar on the Senate floor during the ides of March.

3. The Bulldog Nation is divided because of Mark Richt and Mark Richt alone. A divided house will never be a winner. Reconciliation will start only when Richt is gone.

4. Richt will probably be let go at the end of the season, but it should have already occurred. When you find yourself in a hole, quit digging… Sunk costs are irrelevant.

5. Finally, it occurs to me that these regular blind homer ostrich losers are probably Richt and his staff, friends, and family who are facing unemployment. They are posing as bloggers with their aliases.

6. This time next year the Dawgs will be undefeated under a new head coach.

Does anyone honestly believe there is a better *MAN* AND COACH out there than Mark Richt. There is no way these headlines, fit the words in the story thereafter. All we do around here is to beat cupcakes (and not all of them) and run up stats vs just the cupcakes. If they know what needs to be addressed why don’t they do it instead of losing every game vs good teams and sprinkling in losses to sorry teams too ?

No, I think the fans who try to make out that after the 2005 season, for these last six (6) seasons then, that the arrests and transfers out off the field and on the field # 30 in won / lost record are somehow the greatest we have ever experienced, are the problems with this program altogether by themselves.

What coach wouldn’t want to come here, where fans try to say we’re great just staring at all this off the field bad press yet again this 2011 season with the great exodus of our talent just leaving the program all of 2011 and on the field having once again not beat the good teams.

Now, we can go run up our stats vs cupcakes and tell everyone that we’re simply the best and better than we ever have been. What are we to measure ourselves by that which has been done after 1983 through today, or want to do more – and feel disappointed in the product actually provided ?

If they keep losing games your income will take a hit. I gave up my four 40 yard line season tickets after you arrived. I hope those parking deck spots you force fans to buy start to empty. Mr. Adams you have created this and I can only hope it takes you down the drain with it.

Thomas, you should know we averaged 31 points a game last season. Keep up (sarcasm).

Against teams with winning records, of which we won NONE, we averaged 18 points.

Bobo did a great job vs SC, and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.

No. You will get my support when you get leaders that are worth supporting. I will not support a lost cause and unfortunately that is what our program has turned into. What a pathetic story we have become.

Amen to that.

Yes, Mike Bobo did a great job teaching his offense last week. Let’s see South Carolina scored 45 points, and 28 of the 45 points were not scored against Todd Grantham’s Defense. What does that tell about what a great job Mike Bobo did last week ?

Whose Kool-Aid posts, have you been reading ?

The same ones that are saying that this game against Coastal Carolina will make Mark Richt the all-time best coach with the all-time best coaching staff in the history of 1-A football as measured only in games against BCS conference opponents ?

Believe it or not Ben Dukes, says he bested me with that one.

Dear Dr. Adams,

UGA fans have supported their program as well or better than any program in the country. Asking for better results when you’re sending big bucks to the university for tickets does not show lack of support. On the contrary. We’re asking for better effort on the part of the coaching staff and would like to see a quality product on Saturdays. A couple of “tweaks” in staff personnel probably wouldn’t hurt either. But as for me, GO DAWGS!

@Dawgster and @nique, you both remind me of those people who believe everyone deserves a trophy at the end of the season, let every kid play kind of people. Also there was 5 minutes left in the game Saturday and south Caroline just recovered a fumble for a touchdown because instead of just taking a sack Muray tried to force a play that he had no chance in making. I do not blame fans for leaving, the beer left in cooler seemed more enjoyable then watching UGA try and come back, which by the way the last time I saw Georgia come back and when a close game at the end of the game was against Alabama in 2007. And for the mutt vs dawg fan statement you make no sense. I sure hope no one ever makes a comment about the falcons firing a couch or the braves because we have no ties to them. Almost all Georgia fans were born and raised a dawg fan and just because your girlfriend goes there doesn’t give you ties. We have the 3rd most active NFL players then any other university which are all making and impact in the NFL, but yes we haven’t won the SEC since 2005 or even came close for that matter. Something needs to change.

[...] much as he is criticized, I thought Georgia president Michael Adams touched on the right themes on at a UGA cabinet meeting on Thursday when he called for support of the program and Richt, while at the same time remaining [...]

Yeah….well, Ohio State’s prez supported its coach too. He ended up getting embarrassed by his support. College presidents should stick to the academic side of things!

Running back Jordan Hall and defensive backs Travis Howard and Corey Brown received impermissible benefits at a charity event they attended earlier in the year and were suspended for NCAA violations. Six other Buckeyes were already suspended for NCAA violations- including running back Dan Herron, wide receiver DeVier Posey, offensive tackle Mike Adams and defensive end Solomon Thomas, who all will miss five games as part of their involvement in an investigation that led to the departures of quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Jim Tressel, who is now replaced by Luke Fickell. Terrelle Pryor stand-in at QB Joe Bauserman connected on just 2-of-14 passes for 13 yards in defeat as Ohio State was 4 of 17 passing for -0- TD only 35 yards in the air, and threw an interception in a 6-24 blow-out loss to Miami of Florida, who just had lost giving up 32 points in a loss to lowly Maryland. Neither Maryland nor Miami of Florida, obviously are ranked. Neither is Ohio State, now.

Alums, we ought to give 100 percent support to our program no matter what the win/loss record says. That would start with avoiding all the negative comments about the team and coaches. We have an investment in our institution and need to maintain it’s integrity and class not withstanding how our football team does. Our comments should reflect our commitment to UGA’s tradition and show the rest of the world our loyality to our school.
Non-alums, stop with you constant rants and degrading comments – please! Yes I love a winning program but not at the cost of the image these comments cast on my school. If the “G” doesn’t represent more to you than a saturday afternoon football game then find some other team to pull for.
Having been a student athlete we were told to play for the “G” on our hats and not the name on our backs. This could go along way with everybody. Pull for the Dawgs, give them support and be loyal for crying out loud. It great to be a Georgia Bulldog! If that isn’t your feelings (winning or not) then we won’t miss you support I’m sure. Go Dawgs!
