Inside LB remake; Crowell’s honor; Ole Miss game time; TV ratings; more

(Updated 9 p.m.)

ATHENS –- Georgia’s remaining healthy inside linebackers — yes, there are a few — marvel at how the position has been decimated by injury.

“It’s just crazy, how one week Alec [Ogletree] goes down and the next week Christian [Robinson] goes down,” Mike Gilliard said.

“It’s unbelievable, the way our linebackers are getting hurt,” Amarlo Herrera said.

Ogletree suffered a broken foot in the season’s first game and will be sidelined for up to six weeks. Robinson suffered a less severe foot injury in the second game and will be out for two or three weeks. So with both of their starting inside linebackers sidelined, the Bulldogs got to work Monday on Plan C.

The latest depth chart lists Gilliard, a junior, and Herrera, a freshman, as the starters. Also working at inside linebacker in practice Monday were freshman Ramik Wilson, who shifted from outside linebacker, and Jeremy Sulek, a senior walk-on.

“The coaches said whoever practices the hardest at linebacker will start,” Wilson said. “It’s an equal game for all of us.”

Gilliard, in his third year in the program, sees this as an opportunity he needs to seize, albeit under undesired circumstances.

“I feel like it’s just one of those times I’ve got to step up and play ball,” Gilliard said. “It’s my opportunity, and I’ve got to go out there and take full advantage of it.”

Crowell shares honor

Isaiah Crowell’s introduction to Sanford Stadium drew notice from the SEC office on Monday.

The Georgia tailback shared the league’s freshman-of-the-week honors for his productive home debut against South Carolina. Crowell had 148 yards offense Saturday, including 118 rushing yards on 16 carries (7.4 yards per carry), and scored his first two collegiate touchdowns.

“You see he’s pretty special when he has the ball in his hands,” offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said afterward. “He’s got to continue to get himself in shape where he can carry it more and be in the game more.”

Crowell shared the SEC’s weekly top-freshman honor with Kentucky running back Josh Clemons, who is from Whitewater High in Fayetteville.

In Kentucky’s 27-13 victory over Central Michigan, Clemons rushed for 126 yards on 14 carries. He did most of his damage on a single play, an 87-yard touchdown run that was the longest rush by a Kentucky player since 1970 and the longest ever by a Kentucky freshman.

Not surprisingly, South Carolina’s Melvin Ingram was named the SEC’s special-teams player-of-the-week for his performance against Georgia. Ingram rambled 68 yards for a touchdown after taking a direct snap on a fake punt, and he fielded an onside kick near the end of the game to clinch the Gamecocks’ victory. What’s more, on defense, he scored a touchdown on a five-yard run with a late-game fumble recovery.

TV ratings up

The Georgia-South Carolina game posted a 17.3 rating in the Atlanta television market Saturday, up from a 16.7 for the Bulldogs’ season opener a week earlier.

The rating is the percentage of TV households in the market tuning in on average. Saturday’s rating translated to an audience of about 416,000 local homes.

Ole Miss time set

Georgia’s Sept. 24 game at Ole Miss will start at 12:21 p.m. and be televised on the SEC Network, it was announced Monday.

Georgia’s first two games were televised nationally on ESPN, and Saturday’s 1 p.m. home game against Coastal Carolina will be shown on pay-per-view.

A deep hole

History isn’t very comforting for Georgia fans trying to deal with the back-to-back losses to Boise State and South Carolina.

This is just the 11th time in UGA football history, which dates to 1892, that the Bulldogs started a season 0-2. And on the 10 previous occasions, the Dogs finished the season with a winning record only once: 6-5 in 1979.

Checking the stats

Two weeks into the season, Brandon Boykin ranks No. 1 in the SEC and No. 6 nationally in all-purpose yards (rushing, receiving, punt returns and kickoff returns) with an average of 194 per game.

He had an 80-yard rushing touchdown against Boise State and seven kickoff returns for 184 yards against South Carolina.

“This is my last year, so I’m going to do whatever it takes,” Boykin said. “Maybe next week, or whenever, we’ll try to put some more stuff in.”

You win in the SEC with offense. UGA needs to load up playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and just outscore opponenets like Auburn did last year. Stack 8 in the box on defense to stop the run and trust Commings/Rambo/Love to do their jobs.

Last 3 SEC winners have averaged over 40 points a game on offfense.

Let’s get Boykin more involved.

This team will either go 9-4, which is a 50% improvement over last year’s 6-7 record, or 8-5, which is a 30% improvement. Let’s just get to 8 or 9 wins this year, and then in 2012, let’s blow the top off.

Well, who knows. If we play like we did Saturday and eliminate a mistake or two, this team could go on a run. The stats aside, I don’t see a losing season. The schedule just sets up too well for that.

UGA missed on this guy:

GEORGIA never offered this guy. Dad palyed at UGA. They could sure use him now.

Biography

Josh Clemons says he can bench 325-pounds, squat 465 and claims a 36-inch vertical jump. His personal best 100m time is 10.89. Clemons will on play football in college.
Clemons plans to major in business and reports a 3.6 core GPA and a 900 two-part SAT, which he is retaking on Dec. 4.

Partial senior (8-2) stats: 1,600 yards rushing with 23 touchdowns

Clemons: “I run with power and use my speed well. I’m more of a downhill runner and can usually make something happen.

“I want to accelerate better and just be able to break on the ball and be gone.”

Clemons has big-time football in his genes.

His dad, Charlie, played linebacker at Georgia and then for three NFL teams, including the St. Louis Rams Super Bowl championship squad (1999 season). One of Josh’s cousins, Chris Clemons, is a defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks. Another cousin, Nic Clemons, also played for the University of Georgia.

At Whitewater High School, “we knew Josh was going to be a college back real early,” says Wes Hardin, the school’s offensive coordinator. “What we didn’t know as far as him being a real, big-time, SEC-kind of back was whether he was going to get tall enough.”

After shoulder and ankle injuries limited Clemons’ sophomore-year production at Whitewater, the back emerged as a star as a high school junior.

As a senior, Clemons averaged 8.3 yards a carry and ran for 2,003 yards. He was named Georgia Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Schools such as Central Florida, Maryland and Mississippi State vied for his services. Tennessee and Kentucky got in on Clemons later, Hardin says.

Georgia — where, remember, Clemons’ dad had played — never offered. “I think that was his dream school,” Hardin says of Josh.

I’ll take this early opportunity to express my opinion concerning the future of Mark Richt as our head football coach. Namely, that any one who thinks he should be fired is a self-centered, egotistical, fool who doesn’t deserve to be called a Georgia Bulldog fan. These people are only showing their short-sighted, spoiled-a** backsides and, quite honestly, make me sick. Mark Richt is the ONLY reason Georgia Football is where it is, and getting rid of him only sets us up for rebuilding for another ten years. I say once again, look what trashing Phil Fulmer did for a once-proud program like Tennessee, whose fan’s lust for glory put them through the shame of Lane Kiffin. They still suck and their recruiting has bottomed out to nothing. Is that what you morons want?

This is to say nothing of the message you all are sending to the heart and soul of our program — the players. Elite talent who would rather quit playing the game rather than play for another coach. Why do you think these guys still come and are still coming? To play for Coach Richt. I’m embarrassed and deeply ashamed to be a part of a fan base who is trashing such an esteemed and beloved coach two games into the season front of the warriors who actually play the game on Saturdays. You all are a bunch of spoiled brats (because of Richt’s success) who don’t deserve to wear the name.

God Bless you Coach Richt. God Bless Georgia. Go Dawgs !!!!!

Lots of firepower on display for Georgia on Saturday. Georgia should score 40+ from here on out if they don’t have a lot of injuries. Biggest concern is Murray plays great when we’re down 2 scores, but makes mistakes taking sacks, overthrowing open receivers and turning the ball over with the game on the line. I hope he can learn how to close out a game because he’s very talented.

23-18 in all SEC games

3-10 vs top 10 teams
We are now 14-14 the last 28 games

Also UGA was something way before Richt got here

And you bring up Tenn and Fulmer

Calhoundawg. College football is not about how good of a Christian man you are. Its about winning games. UGA’s program was something LONG before Richt arrived. He took the program as far as he could & did a good job in the early to mid 2000s. Now he is too busy with his life outside of football to really do what is necessary to get it back where it should be. As a diehard Tech fan I would LOVE to have the talent UGA has. There was no East and West Champions who came together to play for an SEC championship during the Dooley years

Many of Dooley’s years UGA was the best in the east and could have possibly won the SEC championship

Because I know one thing about Dooley’s teams and that was it didnt matter what your rank was a middle of the road Dooley team could beat any top team.

Richt rarely beats teams ranked ahead of him

Crowell only averaged 14 carries in high school. The energy spent running the ball and pass blocking is a lot. He will get in game shape soon. Great play calling Saturday. Bobo is not the problem. Mistakes cost us the game, not coaching. They will improve. We just don’t have the talent and depth it takes to go undefeated. 9-3 maybe, 8-4 likely. Next year is the year the Dogs will be good. A new coach won’t help that much. Give Richt next year. If it’s a flop then move on.

Warren buffett would actually do a better job of coaching this team than the current head man. Hell Buffet’s whole legend is built on his uncanny abiility to recognize talent and leadership. His number one criteria for investing or buying companies is the business must have a great management team. So if UGA were a fortune 500 company Buffett would take a pass based on the current managemnet led by mark richt!!!! If buffet were the head coach you better believe he would have top notch coordinators. Hire Warren Buffett!!!!!!

Based on the numbers and stats you are presenting…maybe Dooley is an overrated legend. Either way, did you vote for Goff to stay. I am not anti-Richt….but the theory and argument that change is never good and .500 winning percentage in recent years is acceptable has me shaking my head. I long for the days when people had time to get through tough situations, heck, Seinfeld would’ve been cancelled in it’s first year under today’s television demands….but it is what it is, you can’t stay with something just because it’s comfortable. Fumbles and interceptions ARE the responsibility of a coach. AM hasn’t learned to properly go down…that’s on Richt and all the O coaches. Special teams can’t read and react to a fake punt, that’s on Richt and the ST coaches. Oline allowed Clowney to go in on a crucial play unblocked, again, Richt and the O coaches. Everything that happens on the field, including player mistakes falls on their head. The ONLY reason I want to see Richt gone is that he fails to take that responsibilty and make a path to change. It ain’t the old days, and as much as I miss the patience of the past, I love the era of responsibility and pressure just as much. Richt’s a good man, but I truly believe he has backed himself into a corner of rejecting the fact that he’s too soft, so he’s holding onto that position even more to prove everyone wrong. God Bless him and UGA if he can provide a 10-2 season with that attitude.

The GT trolls want Mark Richt gone because he owns the nerds. Anyone who believed we would have a great or even good season last year with a RS Freshman QB is delusional. Reality check people!

I was at the game Saturday and that place was rockin’ loud. The Dawgs played hard and looked much better than in the opener. Now that the bitterness of loosing a close, hard fought game is over it’s time to rally around our team and coaches. To track his record from 2006 is like the dang gators counting from 1990 to present. Maybe you people ARE gators posing as Dawgs. Get over yourselves.

I’ve been a Dawg fan for quite awhile. I sat on the bridge in ‘77 and watched Kentucky dismantle the Dawgs 33-0 and ended up 5-6 losing the final three games of the season….to Florida, Auburn and Tech. FIRE VINCE DOOLEY! Oh wait…three years later we won a national championship!

We have a coach who cares about Georgia and gets criticized for going on a mission trip for his vacation! Really! Those of you who like to discredit his character need to have a chat with the mirror.

Nobody enjoys losing and yes we are on a down cycle. Let’s see what happens the rest of the season before was pass judgement. Mark Richt is smart enough to know what is at stake without irate fans stating the obvious. Support the Dawgs if you bleed red & black……

I am also concerned when hearing the difference in how other coaches talk compared to Richt. I wonder if he really DEMANDS excellence from his players. I also don’t buy the execution excuse either. A coach’s responsibility does not end with the game plan, but has everything to do with HOW it is implemented in practice: Are the practices fast-paced? Are they well organized with little to no wasted time? Do kids have to do reps until they get it right, or is just a certain number of reps to put in the time?

I remember one of the ESPN commentators talking about how the Boise State’s practices were some of the best organized and run that he has ever seen. It is not about the time that you practice, it is what you do with that time.,I believe UGA players make more mistakes and mental errors because of lax implementation in practice. I also heard another coach say that he believes that practice must be harder than the games themselves. Are UGA’s practices harder than the games? I have doubt that they are.

Calhoun, you sound like a good guy, well rounded with a good head on your shoulders. I thought the Dawgs played a “relatively” good game Saturday, and should have won going away. That’s where that intelligence I just gave you credit for having should kick in. There is a pattern that’s been developing since 2007, possibly before, of the “Georgia Bulldogs” being undisciplined, undercoached, unprepared, outplayed, and a few other things. They haven’t won a big game in years, they haven’t had a true field general in years. So if not Coach Richt, who is responsible for program degrading? If you agree that CMR’s “Leadership” has gotten us to where we are, why do you think his continued “Leadership” will be different, just explain that. Now read carefully, nowhere have I said, nor have I ever said “Fire Mark Richt”.

A reporter asked the longest tenured memeber on that board, a former player and well respected physician, his thoughts on the current state of the football program. He replied that he was very concerned about the current direction of the football program. Another board member standing nearby echoed the same sentiments. Mark Richt is in trouble unless he pulls off a great run to finish this season. Why does every experienced football writer, commentator and and football site see what MsGarity and Adams don’t. I guess in fairness, they gave him this year win lose or draw and it’s his to lay out his case. After two weeks it ain’t working, and please, Richt has owned those two teams in the past. Don’t give me they were our Tough games. Welcome to the SEC. I’ll puke if they beat Coastal Correctional and old miss miss and start strutting around.
Lot’s left to play for. Richt teams of late have a history of injuries. No IL LB help now. Will the OL be next. I’d think he needs to win 8 of the next 10 to survive. Surely win 7 won’t be classified by his bosses as “Improvement”…….Will It?

Calhoundawg, you don’t know jack sh_t about college football.

You said, ” college football is about coaching student athletes playing a game and mentoring young men in the “game” of life, and Richt does it better than anyone????????”

Are you freaking kidding me? Yes metoring kids is a part of it, but if you can’t win, you will get fired! That’s it plain and simple.

Mark Richt was a good coach in the early years but he has lost it. Bobo, on the other hand, has no business being an Offensive Coordinator of a peewee league much less at UGA.

Anyone on here that thinks Bobo is doing a good job has got to be most ignorant blind homer I have ever heard off.

I get so sick and tired of you blind homers saying that our negative comments are bad for the team and we aren’t true Georgia fans. We want what is best for our team, and if the current coaching staff isn’t it, they’ve go to go. Blind homers are what is bad for Georgia, for you continue to contribute and act as if everything is okay when your team sucks.

Calhoundawg, you need a dose or reality. I hate to say it, but it’s all about winning and money. If Richt can’t win, he will be fired….end of story.

For those of you who are saying that Richt supporters are a small minority, you should read Matt Towery’s poll. Towery is a republican pollster, very respected and relied upon, he says that Richt has overwhelming support at least 65%. His smallest support group is 19-30 year olds and even they support Richt with 55% support. Towery says, in essence, that that age group support is lower because they do not remember the great things that Richt did for the program. So, I am imagining that most of the comments on AJC Anti Richt blogs are under 19. Guys, Richt is here to stay. He is integrally a part of GA Football. Get used to it. Even if he has a less than stellar season–he will be retained. All of the money is on next year anyway. McGarity and Adams have always believed that it is next season that is the test for Richt–not this season. Go Richt and Dawgs.

Did I say the Dawgs looked much better Saturday against Carolina? That unfortunately is what this year is about, and that’s what Mark Richt will be judged on “at the end of this year”. If this team continues to show the improvement it did from game one to game two, and so forth, then Richt’s answer to critics that this team will exponentially improve will prove itself out on the field and he will earn his retention, according to the guidelines that were set by McGarity himself. He has his work cut out for him, I’m hoping he “proves” he’s the man for the job. Flat Tire, I stopped my financial support, last year with letters documenting why. If Mark Richt turns things around my support will return. I think our effort and preparation was awful for Boise, I’m not sure great coaching prevents a fumble, and an interception. Murray was surprised and made a poor decision on not to take the loss on his fumble, but hindsight’s 20/20. The fake punt is inexcusable. Where does that leave us? With 10 games to go. It’s going to be a long year fellow’s if we keep this up. Flat tire, I suggest you drink more kool aid to ease your pain and not read Bradley’s column any more. Mark Richt put UGA back on the map. I think our AD is a reasonable man. He knows Richt is one of the great coaches in America and that to trade him in for something else would set this program back 5 years. We are on the verge of a return to greatness. Let’s talk football, should Boykin have to run the steps for his poor tackling effort on the fake punt, he flat whiffed at that attempt. We had a running back that was a man among boys on our team, I was playing Linebacker and he ran my way, I made a weak attempt at tackling him. Coach made an example out of me, he lined Ricky up and ran him straight at me, over me, up and down, he knocked the breath out of me the last time I hit him head on. That’s a lesson I never forgot. I think we should fire some fans too! All those years we got outplayed and still won the game are just balancing out right now. This is a very young team that will take some time to mature. We have one of the best coaching staffs we have ever had at Georgia but also the highest paid which is the problem I think with some fans. Coach Richt, donate that raise you got a few years ago to the University or some charity. You don’t need the money and it will shut up all these cry babies calling for your job. Let these whiners know that it is not about the money…never has been. Honestly I will always be a Bulldog fan, have been since a small boy. I played for the Dawgs for several years which give me letterman status but I am not sure I can afford all the money to enjoy season tickets anymore. Just too expensive..Have had season tickets for almost 30 years and my seats for the Bosie game were 3 rows from the top of dome. Could have done better with a scalper and it is really the same situation for every game we play. Gooo Dawgs! Nothing if finer than to see the Dawgs play and I will always support you and the great group of coaches that we now have.

Folks, looking back over the body of Richt’s work at FSU and UGA, do you think it is possible he knows a little bit more about football than you are crediting him? He is a great recruiter, mentor, and coach. I doubt he has forgotten how to win. Trumpeting last year’s winners is kind of like teaching a class on which stocks to pick in hindsight. Picking them ahead of time is a good bit harder. Saban and Meyer were picked to win last year. Neither made it, btw. Saban lost a bunch and so did Meyer, and he resigned at the end of the year. I would advise supporting Richt, at a minimum, through the end of the year. Anything less than that is counterproductive, and I would think any true Dawg fan would see this plainly.

Mobile….If leave is asked to leave us this year, I do think Kirby will be on the list, but not first. He will damage control if the first two guys don’t accept. I do think McGarity will gauge Peterson’s interest, but that will be short, polite no. Patterson at TCU comes to mind. Wins big games with little talent. pretty tough guy and good game day coach and X &O guy. Kirby will be the back door save face hire……………The only way this doesn’t happen like this is if McGarity decides after the AU game and has time….but all the good ones will be working until Jan. Who knows. Maybe we run the table. I wouldn’t mind that either, I just don’t see it

For the record I’m not a Kirby supporter should we be looking for a Head Coach. When you say proven, I agree with you, I just don’t think he necessarily has to be proven at a “big time” program. You severely limit your choices by only focusing on high profile candidates. It worked for Bama, it might not work for us. Keep your eye on University of South Alabama the next couple of weeks. There’s a guy coaching down there that I think has some potential. He’s started two programs from scratch, and is a heads up guy. He’s got a stud running back named Baker, that name may ring a bell to some Dawg fans.

That was one of the most unsportsmanlike acts I have ever witnessed–certainly by a coach. It undercut any moral authority that Richt might have had and made him one of the boys. It would have gotten most coaches fired. I remember a time when UGA fans had enough pride to consider a loss a loss…instead of talking about how “we outplayed SC” or “we beat ourselves” or “if we get a break or two we win.” Do you really find solice in moral victories? Do you need to “believe” that you outplayed SC that much to make yourselves feel better?

One more thing…please stop talking about how you can still win the SEC East, and start trying to figure out how you can win your FIRST football game. Trying to make your team out to be a Champion when you are 0-2 makes you sound stupid.

The dynamic at play here is facinating. What to do with the future of Georgia football? Most everyone is in agreement that Coach Richt is a fine man and a great representative of the University of Georgia. A couple of decades ago, the mention of removing him from this job with his past record of winning would be considered fools talk. Maybe Georgia draws a line in the sand and says he stays. The administration and fan base need to get on the same page. I don’t like what college football has become. The entire system is corrupt. Maybe the NFL needs to start a minor league system as coach Jerry DiNardo is pushing for. Valuable scholarships are being wasted on kids who have no interest in education, while deserving kids who cannot afford the cost of admission never get the opportunity to attend college. It’s sad really.

Some of the fans here can’t remember past 2009 apparently.

So here is how it is. If you are a coach at UGA, your best bet is to suck early and hope they give you enough years to get it right. God forbid you should win a lot of games early and some conference titles because when you have a couple of down years, you certainly won’t get an entire third year to turn things around before the fan base starts wanting a change. They don’t seem to remember the days when 8-4 was a good year .. every year. They don’t remember the years when the only moral victory we had was the typical win over GT (and under Donnan and Goof, even that game wasn’t a given). But then again, they also don’t remember the current coach just 3 years removed from back to back 10 win seasons.

My point is that UGA has a proud tradition of football, and it is a shame to see UGA fans happy with the “effort.” That used to not be the case. Shot yourselves in the foot? Let me let you in on a little secret….if you get to go back in time and erase your mistakes in a football game, then in all fairness the other team gets to do the same thing. You can’t simply look at a football game, and decide that if you could change a couple of your mistakes then you win.

In the end, UGA lost the game…period. It does no good to talk, after the fact, about how you really played better than the team you lost to.

Why Georgia should be thinking about a coaching change…..
1-Georgia is a combined 0-5 against Top 25 teams in 2010 and 2011 and has lost 10 of its last 12 against ranked teams.
2- richt is now 14-14 in his last 28 games
3- Lets look at the remaining schedule. Games they will probably lose: 1- Miss St. 2- Tenn 3-Florida 4-Auburn. Games we should win (if we don’t have an off week): 1- Costal Carolina, 2-Miss, 3- Kentucky, 4- New Mexico, 5-Tech, 6-Vandy. LOOKS LIKE A 50/50 CHANCE OF ANOTHER LOSING SEASON.

Love it or hate it Mr. Mark Richt is the worst tenured coach in the SEC. His performance over the last two years speaks for itself !

1) Alabama 26-3 (.897)
2) Auburn 24-5 (.828)
3) Florida 23-6 (.793)
4) LSU 22-6 (.786)
5) Arkansas 20-8 (.714)
6) SCarolina 18-11 (.621)
7) Miss St. 15-12 (.556)
8) Tennessee 15-13 (.535)
9) Kentucky 15-13 (.535)
10) Ole Miss 14-13 (.519)
11) GEORGIA 14-14 (.500)
12) Vanderbilt 6-20 (.230)

As most rational and delusional UGA fans can see from the records only one team, Vandy, has won less and lost more than Mark Richt coached UGA. Georgia has gone from national contender to national pretender in less than three years. UGa has fallen as a respected program to homecoming fodder under Richt’s leadership. The Delusional reprobates have raised Richt above the football program and will love and support him regardless of his teams persistent losing. All of UGA’s SEC rivals fully support the delusional kook UGA fanbase and would love to see Richt remain UGA’s head coach so that the losing, mediocrity, division, and turmoil will continue at UGA. The Rational UGA fans realize that based on the decline of the football program a change at head coach is overdue and ultimately may come by the end of this season. What side of the divided UGA fanbase are you on ?

I’m a rational fan that wants Georgia to get back to winning games and stop searching for excuses and moral victories in its losses.

Hope the coaching staff will use every opportunity to give the younger players “playing time” and give the team more depth and game experience. Especially at the quarter back position. When it’s time to replace a QB at UGA, we don’t have anyone with much game experience.

It doesn’t take a genius, or someone who has played/coached football, to know that the key to defeating UGA is Murray. Put enough pressure on him or get him out of the game with an injury and you defeat UGA. Don’t think Murray can continue to take the physcial”pounding” and will be unable to play the entire season due to injuries.

Calhoundawg,

With all due respect it is Coach Richt’s ultimate responsibilty to have these players ready to play each and every game. Yes he did not fumble the ball or throw the interception, nor the fake punt run by a defensive lineman for a TD. But he is the one who is ultimately responsible for allowing players to take plays off and lose focus. Crowell had success running the ball and he is immediately pulled out and Samuel comes in and then he goes down on being touched so the drives stalls and we wind-up kicking a fieldgoal. This stuff with our guys just touching and running on punts and kickoff returns year after year has bite them in the derier once again, but it continues to happen. The experiment with Samuel as a running back has been a misearable failure just like him promoting Dennis Martinez as Defensive Copordinator and now Mike BoBo as OC. He continues to under appreciate offensive linemen and how important it is to winning to have the big ugglies. You can say whatever you like about Tide Roll but he has nailed quite a few of our shortcomings.

I ask you what is the definition of an idiot— someone who does the samething over and over but expects a different outcome. Great Coaches surround themselves with very good to great assistants. The experiment with BoBo as the OC has been a miserable failure and btw BoBo was not making the calls Saturday on offense Ole Coach it was Richt himself. Now that I have blown off a little steam I will go back to reading other Dawgs fans comments.

The Coaching staff at UGA and the players need our support. Everybody is complaining on the internet, booing in the stands and overall being selfish and part of the problem. Let’s try this – how about support for the coaches and the team for a change. If you don’t have anything good to say then please keep your mouth shut. I was once told that I am to play for the “G” on my hat and not the name on my back. So if you are truly a Dawg, pull for the “G” and leave your simple opinion to yourself – those negative comments are doing nothing to improve the situation and in fact may be making it worse. I want to know why Malcolm Mitchell and Michael Bennett are used mainly in the 4th quarter… why not all 4 of them?? We have a lot of wonderful talent not sure the coachesiincluding CMR know what to do with it how to coach it just not convinced anymore. AND Why why would you risk an on side kick and risk putting Lattimore up on the 50 yard line with plenty of time and time outs… and why would you let SC run the clock down when you have time outs… someone tell me why?? I hope Murray is practicing protecting the ball this week… take the sack save the ball that is part of your job as a QB.

Nobody mentions the fact that Stephen Garcia played a HORRIBLE game at QB and we still managed to lose…AT HOME….AGAIN.

Richt is now getting outcoached in the SEC year in, year out…..

Dawgs win out rest of year. Watch and C. Yeah, the Kool-Aids gooooooood, but I realy think they have a chance to do so. a big IF is IF they play like they did agains S.C., without the turnovers.

Too bad we can’t all be coaches, then we would never have a winning program. Most of you probabally thought that Donnan was a great hire, Other than Vandy, UGA is the only school in the last 10 years, in the SEC not to get slapped with some major sanction. Our grad rate is right there with Vandy, ahead of Tech, and all of the schools in the SEC. Look at Notre Dame. They’ve done real good since they forced out Lou Holtz. Somebody says Tennessee was in shambles, no you are wrong. They had great recruits from Lame Kitten and his predecessor. The recruiting has fallen off, not to take any thing from Dooley jr. Fake punts, forced throws. fumbles, penalties, it is all part of the game. What sucks is the missed field goal. If you want to draw a line in the sand it is this Somewhere in 2008 we didn’t recruit a qb. We recruited a great running back named Caleb, and in 2009 we recruited a great running back named Washuan. Now we have a great, albeit inexperienced freshman running back, a sophomore QB, and for whatever reason a special teams coach who can not read the tea leaves. If the decision was today, send the whole gang packing. But it is not, at least publicly anyway. If this team turns around and wins the SEC, all of this will be moot. That is how you spell the word guys. I see the other word misused on these blogs often. This coach can win out and stay in, or the team can fall apart, as many of you dufusses hope to happen, and the powers to be will be up to the task. Most of you are calling for essentially this. Pres Roosevelt didn’t like Patton, but he never wanted him to lose a battle. He knew that once the war was won, his career would be limited and he could be appointed to some non descript job that would silence him for a while. Now you guys say that you want UGA to lose games. WOW.

The QB play, the last 4 or 5 years has been fair. I think that BoBo coaches that now. The play calling the last few years has been bad. I think that BoBo does that. Stafford and Murray both held on to the ball too long. Joe Cox was not a big league QB he threw it up for grabs, However, Murray, and Metz were both on the sideline, and were/are big time QB’s. That is where it all starts and stops. We have pretty fair defense. SC only hung 17 on the D. They have a senior dominated d and o and a 25 year old qb. It may be a time for a change, but let’s get through the season and see what happens.

Dawg85: You said it best. It appears that the babblings of idiots may cost a GOOD coach and an EXCELLENT human being his job.Apparently one losing season in 11 years isn’t good enough for some illiterates that don’t understand anything but winning. It would not bother them one iota if UGA was hit with the same or worse as have Ohio State, Miami, North Carolina, etc.

Mad Dawg: Your 5:31 AM post proves nothing. You can make statistics say anything you want. For instance: CMR has a losing record to ONLY ONE of all the teams you mentions. You appear to be dumb enough for triplets. Hopefully you have not/will not reproduce.

Mobile Dawg: My definition of “knuckle dragger” is a caveman or primate. They walked hunched over with their long arms that brought their knuckles in contact with the ground. I apologize for namecalling when in reality I don’t know any of you personally but it tears me up that all the negatives on here are not only causing unrepairable damage to CMR(who, by the way, has a better win/loss percentage than the alltime favorite Vince Dooley and most other Division I coaches) but is hurting recruiting and all of DAWG NATION. Do you want winning big at all costs such as has happened at SMU, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, etc.? I hope not because CMR is a GOOD COACH and an EXCELLENT HUMAN BEING. He not only has kept our program clean but has made a difference in many young men. You will have a hard time finding all those qualities in a coach. The record of the coach whose team won the NC last year is not nearly as good as CMR’s.

the players get hurt every year at UGA idiots—-haven’t you been paying attention. Its part of the getting in shape program in the spring practice and such. They run 15 yards, eat some fried chicken and then they are ready to beat Florida and Alabama(in their dreams). Next, this almighty running back will get hurt——if he is so good, how come he did not run over people and score 3 touchdowns on his own. Where do they did these freaks up at anywho? Its like Spurrier said one day,—Georgia gets all the good recruits but he doesn’t know what happens to them———————————I do—they hide under the shadow of a softy coach, ride the bandwagon and slide into the NFL. Georgia should have a coach that made them wish they had stayed in high school for 5 more years. It’s all about WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
