Big Mike:
I am well prepared for the mediocrity that may follow in trying a new staff. I have gotten used to mediocrity the last three seasons because that is where we are with the current staff. What difference does it make if we lose 5 games next year or 6?
We only won half our SEC games with AJ Green and that included some time with Stafford and Moreno in the same backfield. That .500 record includes 2 games each year against KY and Vandy. Against equals we aren’t even mediocre.
The Current actual state of SEC programs ranked by ability to win their next football game against an unknown opponent:
1.) Alabama
2.) Florida and LSU Tied
4.) Auburn
5.) Arkansas
6.) South Carolina
7.) Mississippi State
8.) Tennessee
9.) Georgia
10.) Kentucky
11.) Ole Miss
12.) Vandy
You might disagree with the exact order of 1-4, but does anybody disagree we are slighly ahead of KY and right there with TN in 9th place or so?
Aren’t we less than mediocre now?

WOW!! Now that we are reliving the Ray Goff era, i guess all UGA fans are happy with the effort of the team. If i’m not mistaken, good teams play with effort every saturday, not once or twice a season. This is the problem with UGA. The fan base will except mediocrity, and all the team has to do is play hard once or twice a season, and win 7 or 8 games. The fact is, this coaching staff has not been able to win a big game in 4 years, it doesn’t matter that the team played hard Saturday, what matters is the team still lost to an overrated S.C. team. It is a sad day when UGA fans are happy with playing hard, but still losing to S.C. This just shows you how far this program has sunk with Richt in charge. My GOD, for UGA to be happy with a lose to of all schools S.C, makes me sick. You fans have got the coach you want, and the results don’t lie. This coach and his staff have a below .500 winning record the past 2 seasons, is that acceptable to all UGA fans? Is this what our program has become? If you are O.K. with this loss, and if you are O.K. with this coaching staff, then GOD help us all. Think of how awful this program has been lately. They open up against Ok.St, a ranked team, and lose. They lose on the road the next season to S.C., then proceed to have a losing record. THey open up in the Ga.Dome against a ranked opponent and get embarrassed. Then they lose again at home to S.C.. My God , for UGA to lose to S.C. 2 years in a row, is unacceptable if you are a UGA fan, and it should be unacceptable to the A.D. and the coaches. But unfortunately it isn’t, and that says all that needs to be said about the state of the UGA program. This thing is not going to change under this coach, and moral victories got Goff fired. Moral victories got Donnan fired, but moral victories keeps Richt’s job. Why is that?

so which one is correct? “They have enough players to be a 10-win team, but I honestly think their lack of discipline and their vanilla offense and their inability to make in-game adjustments on both sides of the ball — all three aspects of which point to coaching,” ESPN analyst Todd McShay said. “I hate to say it, but I’ve been thinking it for two-plus years now, and finally when you start to look at it and piece it all together, I just think it’s becoming obvious.
“I think that this team consistently gets overcoached and the more coaches that I talk to in the SEC that face off against Georgia and just are not at all concerned about what they’re going to see from a schematic standpoint, the less I believe in this coaching staff with Mark Richt and his group.”
Coach Richt said. “Actually, I love this team. [I'm] proud of them, and time will prove that we’re gonna be a really good team.”

My definition of a fair weather fan is one that stops “caring” about the team when they are not good, but is the first to call them “MY Team” when they ARE good. The Dawgs are still and will always be MY team.
Just because you post something pointing out the obvious flaws of the team and are calling for a coaching change, doesn’t mean you don’t “care” or don’t wish the team well. I am pulling for both the Players and coaches. I don’t wish anything but good things in Richt’s future endeavors. He has made over $20,000,000 coaching the team. He gave us some good seasons in the first half of his tenure. It was mutually beneficial and I think he will go on to do good things in the world.
Naming an interim coach from the current staff with the directive being:
Try to win the game, but play Mason one series each first half (minimum) and play some of the young players a little more than would normally be played. You don’t have to sit the Seniors and Juniors, but give the Frosh and Soph a little extra time as we are preparing for 2013.

I-Dog, I have not issue playing Mason for a little bit against a patsy here and there. But calling for Murray to be benched and Richt to be let go by game two after playing the toughest two games on your schedule is a bit much. As for how much he has made, Richt could not have made more than $20,000,000 a year. Up until 2007 he made $800,000 per year or less. It went up to $2.8 million in 2008 and is now at around $3 million

Unfortunately moral victories don’t show up in W/L collumns. Seems as if some players, coaches and fans are learning that defeat is okay. They are not “our boys or our team”. Richt makes a fortune, the fans fill the stadium and pay enormus ticket prices and the team continues to lose. It’s all about money. UGA football is officially not relevant in the SEC or nationally anymore. It’s a pity. Unimaginative play calling – Bobo needs to go. The Dawgs still have more losing to come this year.

I agree….we looked better, but ya think we gonna finish any better than middle of the pack, as usual? S.C., a former weak sister, has passed us. Think we gonna beat Tennessee, Fla., Auburn…? All 3? Really? How ’bout throwin’ M.State in there….and Ole Miss out there, too? Think we gonna finish any better than middle of the pack?? Somethin’ is lackin’…..something….everybody has off-years, but we’re HUSTLING backwards…..

We lost the game in first half when CMR decided to kick field goal three times rather than going for a first down. Does he not have confidence in his offense. Agree they looked better but if CMR stays he must surround himself with some quality assistance. Next week we run up score and everyone forgets about lose—-I hope not………….

Tampa Dawg:
I am not calling for a benching of Murray. 2011 and 2012 are over, so I am saying, have the interim coach play Mason for at least 1 meaningful series in the first half of each game. Murray to still play 85-90% of the game.
What if Murray turns an ankle next year? We won’t have anybody else game ready if we play only Murray and let Mason get mop up duty against the patsies. Same is true of the OL. Play the 2 freshman who are most game ready a series or 2 so that next year we aren’t paper thin AND young at OL with the likely loss of 3 of our starting OL at season’s end.
Richt will have made about $20,000,000 when it is all said and done including the buy out. Maybe it is only $19,000,000. My point is that he has made a pile a money and he was given EVERY opportunity to be successful.
Georgia would not fire Richt for the first 2 games of 2011. It would be for his last three years.
Donnan lost only 11 games in his last three FULL SEASONS at Georgia and he was shown the door. Richts has lost 11 games in the last TWO full seasons and is now at 13. So in 3 years he will have 14 to 18 losses in all liklihood vs. Donnan’s unforgivable 11 losses.
Why continue this death watch. It isn’t good for anybody.

Excellent effort on Saturday. Eliminate one of those big plays and we win. Schedule gets much easier now, and my fear is that this team will put it on cruise control after winning a couple of easy ones. My #1 problem with CMR is that he does not bring this kind of motivated team every week.

I-Dog, I agree with the Mason pitch to some degree.
But to compare Richt to Donnan doesn’t add up. Donnan wasn’t fired for going 8-4 in back to back years. He was fired because he never even sniffed an SEC title. In the same time that Donnan had, Richt had two SEC titles and as a total record been in contention 3 other years. I say with what he accomplished early, let him coach through it. You never know. You may fire him and have prize recruits you already have on the team transfer, some you may have committed for next year recommitt somewhere else. Then end up with a new coach who can’t recruit.

Good effort and I’m proud that the “Dawgs” didn’t throw in the towel. Extremely impressed with the fans giving them an ovation while leaving the field.
I will leave my comments regarding the football team and eventual success or failure to the end of the season. Personally, I believe they have improved.

It is obvious preferential treatment has been given to Richt by UGA administrators that was not given to his predecessor, Jim Donnan. Richt, for whatever the reason has been given more than the benefit of the doubt and UGA’s performances over the last 3 going on 4 years are reflective of it. The mediocrity is obvious in the records of 8-5, 6-7, and now a 0-2 start this year. Add those marks up and UGA is a pathetic 14-14 in it’s last 28 outings. This plain and simple is totally unacceptable. Even when Richt when 10-3 in 2008 that season was considered a disappointment because of the hype that misled everyone to believing an overrated UGA would go undefeated and win championships.
The truth about UGA’s predicament is that Richt is trying to run the program from his old 1990s FSU playbook. Only problem is that was nearly twenty years ago. Richt thinks if you put great talent around a sub par or average QB then that QB’s game will magically elevate to the level of players around him. This is why UGA’s current decline began with Joe Cox at qb and continues with Adam Murray. The Richt/Bobo braintrust will continue to bring in overhyped, average or below average qbs and and stick with them for an entire season despite the need to take a look at other options. Thus because overrated Murray was so highly recruited there’s no way he is in danger of being replaced as a starting qb despite how poorly he performs in critically situations. The real reason UGA was competitive against Carolina was the emergence of a running game led by Crowell. The O-line finally responded and created running lanes. The SC game proved UGA must run to win in the SEC and finally that Murray is not that much better than Joe Cox at quarterback. With Murray at qb UGA has yet to defeat a team with a winning record despite all the stats and preseason all SEC hype. He is undersized and needs a lot of one on one coaching from a good qb coach. But this falls on Richt, because Bobo can’t be an offensive coordinator and qb coach. So UGA will live and die as they did against SC, because of a lack of coaching and Richt’s dependency on the God given ability or talent of key players in key positions. Thus the players are just like the OC, they will learn on their on in gametime conditions and when they come up short as a result of their mistakes it’s okay because Richt sees their potential for greatness in the future.
Richt is about as blind as Mr.Magoo and it is past time for UGA to find a new coach !! WOOF !!

Tampa Dawg:
That is true that Donnan was fired for not competing for SEC titles. He took over a program that was truly broken. Richt took over one that went 8-4 back to back and was pretty loaded with talent.
Richt deserves credit for bringing us 2 SEC titles and playing for a 3rd, but 13 loss and counting in 2+ seasons and being outcoached week after week has put the lid back on the program that Richt helped take off.
I think Georgia has been fair to the Richts and it hurts the program if we just let the season ride out and the SPRING a coaching change on the recruits a month before signing day. We both want UGA football to be sucessful, I just don’t think holding on to Richt for a few more games is the answer.

Fellow Dawgs,
Time after time almost every year we see these same kind of mental errors costing us games and yes in my humble opinion at least 3 chances over his first 10 plus years to play for National Championships. It is like a broken record every year on punt returns where our guys are not checking the other team to make sure they punt the ball. It once again raised its uggly head and cost us a TD and possibly the game. Yes there was overall improvement but to be honest with you we gave up 28 points when guys took plays off and lost focus. That can not be to allowed and there are no excuses for it. Now #83 would be on the bench, play after play he was taking himself out of plays and it cost us big time. That last fumble by Murray and defensive TD is on # 71 as he allowed Clowney to go inside without even pushing him or tapping him on that little slip screen, this guy is a 4th year starter.

First thing: I am not a fair weather fan just because I do not accept losing. I expect UGA to win. And they should win. UGA is not a great passing team and this is all on Richt. He will not commit to the running game. Early in the game GA was 3rd and 2 near the goal line and Ga called a pass play—-they had 2 plays to get 2 yards. You gotta be an idiot not to figure that out. I am sick of the sissy mentality at UGA these days—-they never want to run over anybody any more—-I am sick sick sick sick sick sick sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, if you are at UGA and you are in administration and you want me to help—-I will be glad to help. The AJC can look me up if you wish. Thank you very much.

Amazing to see that so many of the UGA fans have come to terms with the reality that they came at SC with everything except the kitchen sink played with every ounce of emotion they could possibility muster and IT SIMPLY WASN”T GOOD ENOUGH.
Just a few years ago, heck just last week, UGA were snickering at SC as the red headed step children who should be embarrassed to pretend they belonged on the same field as the mighty Dawgs.
It is unrealistic for fans to expect that level of fire emotion every Saturday, so how many of the remaining games can UGA win without it. Expect that UGA will have the same level of intensity against UF, but what about UM\Miss State\UT\Auburn\GaTech?

UGA outplayed the #11 team in the country and came up just short thanks to mistakes. This is a young team playing against a veteran team and still gave them all they could handle for 4 quarters. SC was lucky to come away with the win. I liked what I saw out there Sat., these boys played their hearts out the entire game. I fully expect to see them win the majority of the games left on their schedule. I support this team win or lose. Yes, the Dawgs have done more of the latter lately, but I truly believe that they are headed in the right direction and have faith in this team. So many great players are emerging (Crowell, Mitchell) that are already a force to be reckoned with after playing only 2 games at the college level. I haven’t seen such a determined Dawg team in a long, long time as I did Sat. and the rest of the SEC will start taking notice soon. GO DAWGS!

You can’t logically say Georgia outplayed South Carolina. The goal of the game is to score the most points and Georgia did not score the most points. Georgia had more consistent drives than SC. SC had more big plays. Much better effort by UGA in this game than Boise State game. It will take wins over Florida and Tennessee to cool the fan base down.

We’re not playing in the Big East or the ACC. This is the SEC. Has it been a couple of difficult years at UGA? Yes. I’ve been there, felt the heartbreak in losses, walked out of the room when that detrimental turnover has taken place. But I always find myself back here, or back in front of the TV screen cheering on the dawgs to pull one out. THERE ARE MORAL VICTORIES! This past week showed us that we can play with the best. I think the players feel that way too from how they react to a heartbreaking loss. They are competitors. Again, this is the SEC who have won several of the last whatever BCS championships. It would be so much easier to come out on top or close to it, in another conference, without having to watch your peers win the whole thing. I think this has more to do with what have you not done for me, than what you have. You don’t Saban, Chizik, or Miles had a few balls bounce their way onward to a championship?? I ask you all to stick with your coach Richt. He’s a good man, a good coach. There was a reason why he was hired and kept a job 10 years. I say if he has a winning record this year 8-5, 9-3 or likewise, it will be an accomplishment and something to build on the next five years of great football. Don’t give up now. Have faith in the program….otherwise, ask for it’s demise and see it happen with his firing and a new carousel of coaches arrive until we find the next Vince Dooley. Be patient…it’s a virtue we all should embrace.

It amazes me how many UGA are spouting the “we beat SC really” or “we outplayed SC” or “if the ball bounces our way we win.”
Have you fallen so low that you have to find solice in moral victories? Do you need to “believe” that you actually beat SC to make yourselves feel better? I remember a time when you had enough pride in your team that a loss was considered a loss regardless. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Yes, that’s just how delusional UGA fans that drink Richt’s kool-aid have become. They have lost their pride and now settle for moral victories in the mounting losses. They have become mediocre as Richt’s coaching staff and teams are to continue supporting a 14-14 (.500) coach. The only team that has won less and lost more that Richt’s UGA team in the past 28 games is 6-20 Vanderbilt ! But the delusional Kook reprobates still think Richt is the man for the UGA job so they lower themselves and sell out for moral victories to stand behind the SEC’s worst tenured head coach. They are losers and UGA will continue to be a loser with this kind of fanbase. The losses appease them and they love Richt, because he’s bigger than the program to them. He can loses all his games and all they will talk about is 2002 and 2005 and how great a man Richt is. They stink and can all go straight to h_ll.

HEY DAWG FANS:
THAT THERE IS A FACEBOOK PAGE IN SUPPORT OF OUR COACH. THE NAME IS:
KEEP MARK RICHT
It has been posted in several media outlets that the MAJORITY of UGA fans still support Mark Richt. Not suprisingly, you have not read this ON AJC. Check the Augusta Chronicle or Online Athens to verify what I say.
Also NOT surprising is and I could have told you this a YEAR AGO, is that the fans that want Richt to go the most are the YOUNGEST fans and even 55% of them STILL SUPPORT RICHT!
So what we have is primarily young, internet savvy and on the internet constantly, young, immature and ignorant fans that are pushing to get our coach fired!
Now, most all of us fans that are not ignorant or not old, know what we have in Richt and we know that there are going to be down years. We went almost 20 years since 1982 before Richt brought us an SEC Championship! Thes young fans get a couple and now they cant handle a losing season! Try 20 seasons without an SEC Championship you little twits!
SO…..I want to tell all of you intelligent or not wet-behind the ears teenage and fans under 25 who are on the internet doing things you would not do if you were not ignorant or been around awhile….
THAT THERE IS A FACEBOOK PAGE IN SUPPORT OF OUR COACH. ITS NAME IS:

Mark Richt looks done at Georgia. There’s just little hope he survives a 0-2 start. He’d have to beat Florida. Of Georgia’s nine other games, he’d have to go 8-1. That combo just seems nearly impossible at this point for a coach that’s 14-14 in his last 28 games. More alarming is Richt’s horrid 6-9 mark in his last 15 contests. Two of those wins were over Louisiana-Lafayette and Idaho State. So, really, Richt is 4-9 in his last 13 games against teams with a pulse. That’s pathetic.
Quoted from a very wise source and I agree 100% !!!
