Below is my weekly pregame video chat with CineSport’s Noah Coslov in advance of Georgia’s SEC opener against South Carolina on Saturday. We talk about what the Bulldogs need to do better against the Gamecocks, the team’s current emotional state, what they need to do to contain Marcus Lattimore and whether or not this is the biggest game of coach Mark Richt’s career.

The Dawgs are toast. The only question is the magnitude of the beatdown. This will be historic. Spurrier will wipe Richt off the planet and leave Athens in flames.
Dawgs will become the fire hydrant of the SEC. UGA will croak and the heavens will open will falling Krispy Kreme`s on Choakdawg.

Man, I feel so good about this game. Our D just manhandled Boise’s No. 1 rusher, stonewalled him to just 2.4 ypc, and he’s a much better runner than Lattimore. Our DB’s just shut down any long passes. And just shore up red zone defense, defense will be much better.
Offense will feature a whole lot of Charles & Mitchell, and Aaron White will play a lot fo TE. BOYKIN & sMITH & cRWEOLL WILL PLIT THE CARRIES ON OFFENSE, that’s a ton of playmakers.

South Carolina is a bad team. 4 to’s. Gave up 37 points on defense to a lousy unranked team. Lattimore continues his fumbling issues now for last 2 games. Garcia only completed 7 passes. If Garcia runs against this defense, look for him to be knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury early.

If people spent more time reading their bibles and getting their priorities in line, then the nature of their comments would change. It is just a game. For some people their whole week and lives are centered around football. I played in college and enjoyed playing for a smaller school. Win or lose, fan’s in general don’t care about players. Those who excell they love to brag about them, those who struggle they talk about them as trash. That is huge turnoff. I believe the student body and fan’s should have been waiting in Athen’s when the bus arrived cheering on the team and supporting them. That is unconditional support. Also, every team has up’s and down’s and everyone want’s to bash an oppossing team, but doesn’t like the bashing in return. Think ahead and be considerate.
God Bless

South Carolina is a very physical team. They have a good defensive line and a running back that handed us our ass on a silver platter last year as a true freshmen. He is apparently even bigger and stronger now. We just got pushed around by a team from Idaho. We could not block Boise’s defensive front and Kellen Moore had an eternity to throw the ball. If we are losing battles up front to Boise State how on God’s green earth are we going to win the battles up front against South Carolina a week later? What rabbit is Richt going to pull out of his hat to make this happen?
We are going to lose and potentially lose badly. Just calling it like I see it. I hope like hell I’m wrong.

I bleed red and black and love all things red and black, but I have run out of excuses for the play calling of Bobo. We simply couldn’t run between the tackles last week, but we just kept trying to. We need to run some sweeps out of the “I”, run creens, anything to get our speed out in space. I have a very bad feeling about this game, like we are going to get splattered on our home field. I hope I am bad wrong, but I don’t think I am.

Nor sure what to say – except the obvious:
The UGA football program in no where near the elite of the college football world – and has quite a ways to go.
Last season’s 6-7 effort – the loss to a BAD Colorado team – the loss to to UCF – opening up the season and getting outplayed in all aspects of the game – and outcoached in all aspects of the game. Wow I never thought the program under coach Richt would be this bad.
The reality is – until we prove otherwise – we are a lower level SEC team – with the majority of the teams above us – and only a few below us.

Dave, watch out for suggesting Bozo revert back to that damn screen he used to try — that never worked. Mainly because it (the call) was ALWAYS poorly timed. Sweeps, misdirection….anything out of the I that let’s Crowell get up to speed before getting the ball. Let Figgins get out in front and mow down the 1st LB and hopefully Isaiah can cut for 3 or 4. Maybe Orson could learn how to block instead of expecting Aaron to throw it to him every down.

Dave, ditto. The def couldn’t stop Lattimore last year and from what we all saw last w/e vs Boise how are we supposed to believe the def will stop Lattimore and garcia this year. Its the same horse just a different color. Garcia may not be a Kellen Moore but good enough to give our DC fits trying to cover SC receivers. I have a terrible feeling this game will be over before it gets started. GA is not in game shape as everyone thought it would be plus too many starters are dinged or out which makes the task of matching up w/SC that much more difficult. Only way GA wins this game is for SC to turn the ball over and we score some def TD’s or get the ball in their red zone and punch it in. Must keep lattimore on the bench. Straight up and we have little chance of beating SC and the old ball coach. Our coaches don’t even factor in this game as they have lost the art of winning.

If the offense can’t move the chains Saturday and our D has to go back out there( no depth by the way) every three minutes, Lattimore will be breaking off 10-15 yards runs by the middle of the second quarter. Bobo is telling us he’ll run the no huddle. Ok, that’s great if like Boise you’re moving it down the field. 3 plays and a punt takes about 21/2-3 minutes. God help our defense.

Let’ see. The game is on saturday and not today. Think I will hold judgment until the game has been played.
I literally can’t stand fans who are GA fans one moment and haters the next. I wonder if all these negative postings are really from Ga fans or maybe, SC, FLA, or some other team fan?
Boise State right now could beat a lot of teams this would include a few from the Southeastern conference. They are ranked number 5, for reason. Georgia lost to a number 5 team by 14, what did some of these so-call top teams win by – one could surmise lesser teams in rankings? And did any of them struggle before winning?
Maybe, all of us GA fans should settled down although we all are deeply disappointed and can remember vividly the”Good Georgia teams” and the success they had. Let’s see how this season plays out. I’m sure like the fans the players and coaches are disappointed and some know the urgency of turning this program around and back to respectability,.If not, then I am confident that changes will be made. I can’t see where the University will accept this much longer as it is destroying the image of Georgia football.

Nothing could be finer,
Murray is twice the QB that both of your QB’s there put together. His problem is Bobo as is the defenses, offenses and probably even special teams. His play calling is what is making the whole team look bad all around, not Murray. The DAWGS did shut down the Boise running game for the most part, even though they were on the field, way too much, due to the ineptness of the OC play calling. You really need to win something beyond a east division title before you start thinking you are special. You should be able to beat the DAWGS with the coaching they are getting from Bobo, but your team is a long way from being on the top of the SEC.

That team from Idaho is maybe the best team in the nation. South Carolina is a very solid team with proven playmakers and can beat you with good coaching. If we can somehow hold lattimore to 100 we have a chance. That is the key because he will run early and often and get stronger as the day goes on. That starts with the defensive front. If we can force garcia to throw he will make mistakes and we will win at home.It will be close and come down to Spurrier vs. Richt in the fourth quarter. We’ll see.

the D shut down the Boise RB? …Boise didn’t have to run the ball because they were getting 12 yards on every freakin’ pass. Unlike UGA coaches, they didn’t try to force what wasn’t working, but took what the D would give them…the underneath routes (just like last year).
Do we have an offensive playbook? I would have thought that after running this same offense for a decade, there might be a screen, a rollout, a 2 tight end set, a fullback blocking, three step drops, quick slants or some other way to take advantage or counter the pressure of the Boise D-line.
Maybe the Athletic Department should use some of that profit margin to buy the coaches the football game for the x-box to learn some new plays.

I think the operative wording was a “bigger Lattimore with more speed”.
The beaners were not at all upset that he missed nearly the entire fall camp with injury, as he learned everything he needed to know about playing RB by being on the scout team defense last year.
Well he was still hurt Saturday and it is highly doubtful he will be fully ready this Saturday. That leaves Crowell, who was as predicted not ready to play Saturday night. He also missed alot of reps during fall camp. He missed a ton of assignments.

To Jerry and everyone else that thinks we’re “bad fans” for being upset about the current situation -
Surely you can’t be serious. So I guess to be classified a “good fan” I’m supposed to just sit here and accept the fact the program has been in a horrible downward spiral for 3-4 years now? That is not being a good or passionate fan at all. A good and passionate fan gets heated about it when we’re good but just as heated when we’re not.
I fully support the team and players but I can no longer just blindly support this inept coaching staff. We’ve been in a downhill pattern getting worse every year for 3-4 years now and it’s getting old. I also get frustrated with folks that say someone is a “bad fan” for leaving a game early. What other recourse do we as fans have? I guarantee you Richt, his staff and the players do not read the comments on AJC.com or any of the other blogs. The only recourse we have as fans to send a message to the program that we’re not happy with the current situation is by leaving games early, not buying tickets at all and/or not donating anymore.
We’re not being haters, we’re just not willing to sit idly by and accept the continuation of our nose dive into mediocrity. This program has too much money, too good of facilities and way too much talent (players, clearly not coaches) to be underachieving this consistently. We’ve been getting worse every year since ‘07 and the bleeding needs to stop at some point. I’m actually a little mad at myself for buying into Richt’s dream team and “I’m more excited this year” bullcrap, what a fool I was to think anything would change this year.
They did a great job in the offseason of getting all the fans hyped up and excited with this dream team and Richt’s “I’m excited” heart being into it again crap. Then the Boise St. game happened. It’s not that we lost to Boise, they are a great team. It’s how we lost that game, the team looked even worse than they did in the UCF debacle. I’m pretty sure that all the fans that left early felt like I did, like I’d been completely lied to in the offseason. This negative reaction after one game is not about the one game, it’s about 3-4 years of getting worse and worse and worse and showing zero signs of anything getting better….only continuing to get worse.
This is about the coaching plain and simple, not about the players. I know it would be tough to see sometimes but I hope the players realize this negativity from the fans isn’t directed at them, it’s directed at the coaching (or lack thereof).

Im a die hard Georgia fan but I’m sick and tired of all the pollyanna Richt lovers saying what a great man and representative of the university he is. Didn’t this great representative of the university players lead the world in arrest the last few years? And what about the academic causalties as well? If he was so great seems to me that he would be a better molder of young men. His teams have lacked character and discipline on and off the field. I want the best for UGA and not what’s best for mark richt. Seems to me some of you are richt fans more than you are Georgia fans.

Agree with you completely layinlow, well said!
If Richt is such a great and decent guy, Christian and blah, blah, blah then why do we have so many guys getting in trouble during his tenure, having academic issues and my personal favorite – chest thumping after making a tackle on a 5 yard gain when you’re down by 3 touchdowns? Clearly Richt’s moral teachings are not rubbing off on our guys so well or he’s as bad of a teacher as he is a coach. I don’t have to be a Richt fan or apologist to be a solid UGA fan for crying out loud.

Layinlow – A coach can’t be with players – especially modern day, inner city players – 24/7. They’re young, immature, oftentimes misguided with not many role models, and they do these knucklehead things on their own time. I don’t hold coaches responsible for what they do on their own time. What I do hold coaches responsible for are things like: preparation for games, discpline on the field, schemes, game planning, adjustments, etc. And in all of these areas CMR doesn’t get a high grade from me. They always tackle poorly; they don’t play with attitude; they commit penalty after penatly after penalty in the first half especially; they arm tackle, etc.
It’s time for a change.

It will be very sad if Athens gets excited about an upset over USC, because the best thing that can happen is that this program totally implode, and start all over again. CMR will not be fired anytime soon, because there is no one that wants this position. UGA has lost it’s luster and is now the KY or Vandy of the SEC…..nobody wants it.

Richt’s undoing will be HIS selection of coordinators. Most successful programs having solid coordinators that are highly coveted by other programs i.e. Smart UA, Weis UF, etc. Does ANYONE think that Bobo is even on the same “offensive” planet as Spurrier or Weis??? I just saw a piece on ESPN where they broke down a designed play from Spurrier. Have we EVER seen ANY play broken down by ESPN from Bobo? If Richt leaves, I would be very surprised if either Bobo or Grantham get picked up any other D1 school.
With the talent he has amassed at USC, I fear Spurrier will have a field day in Athens on Saturday. I hope I’m wrong.

NJ, not sure who would be asking you to “blindly” support anything. Are you suggesting that you didn’t have critisism in 2002, or 2007? Blindly indicate that you saw nothing (wrong). You did then too right? I did. You sem to be the one suggesting that it prove you blind to support the current staff and players. That’s all on you, if you feel “blind” or that somehow makes you look stupid. Do you feel stupid? I bet you are not.
But if step back the emotions a bit, you should realize that there are LOTS of things in life that it’s in everyone best interest AT the time, to show support with your eyes wide open, even if you don’t like what you see. Nothing about that shows “blindness”. If you don’t like it enough, you change the picture. Can you change the picture today?

I don’t like the spread. The spread is a plot hatched by left coast liberals and would be pirates and it undermines American youth. I like hair, teeth, and eyeballs all over the field! The downfall of this country began with the forward pass! First the spread, then gay marriage, you do the math. That being said, if Bobo has to turn those guys into pinko pansies with the hurry up shotgun spread at least hurry up. Get the plays in quicker and the ball out quicker, and shorten the routes. You wanna play dink and dunk then dink and dunk. If there is anything worse than a fast spread it’s a half fast spread. Gotta run, I think I heard a black chopper, gotta get in the bunker and put on the old tin foil cap.

Hey Dawgs, who are you going to get as a coach when Richt is gone? Yeah, I know you beat us almost every year but, seriously who would be your pick? Do you really think Tressel or Meyer would want to coach in this environment. If you wanted Richt gone it should of been after UCF. You need to give him this year to turn it around. Lord knows you have the talent to win every week. Richt needs a group of people/coaches that don’t take crap from all of those five star prima donnas. “Break the rules and punishment is quick and severe”. “Off the team or multiple game suspensions should do the trick”. I pull for the Bulldogs except one game. I’d be on Tech’s blog but it’s boring compared to yours. FYI- others fans (besides UGA and Tech) read this blog. You can proceed to trash me now. In the (somewhat distant) past, when The Dawgs absolutely, positively HAD to win they almost always did.
In two days we find out for certain if there is anything left in the coaching staff that can pull out a victory against a very good South Carolina Team.
More and more fans are being sold on the notion the Boise State Game was not a true test of The Dawgs since BSU is rated 4 in the country. On the contrary, we found out that our Defense – you know, the one that was supposed to be vastly improved over last year and well schooled in the 3 – 4, gave up 35 points in the opening game to a team that had never beaten an SEC Team.
Saturday will depict the ultimate bottom when SC wins by 14 or more and our coaches will finally realize THEY are the problem and not the annual plethora of talent they were good at recruiting.
This is the end of what Dawg Nation believed to be the beginning of an era. On the other hand, it will be the beginning of what I believe will be a much more successful era (regrettably, post season).

UGA will get waxed by USCe because they will face a team that is actually coached (a la Boise State). The Dawgs need to do a better job at firing the clowns that currently occupy the coaching positions, and hire in a group that can:
1. Coach up this talented group of players so that they reach their potential.
2. Be innovative in their strategy and play-calling on both sides of the ball.
3. Make in-game adjustments when the other team adjusts to their initial game plan.
4. Instill the discipline in the players needed to play assignment football.
Until the Dawgs find a good coaching staff, they will continue to falter. Believe it or not, we haven’t seen the low point for Richt & his staff.

Lol, I use the word “blindly” once in my whole diatribe and that’s what you decided to focus on? Maybe that wasn’t the best word choice but ok bud. Take the words “just blindly” out and re-read my diatribe.
I just get tired of being labelled a “bad fan” because I’m critical of this coaching staff. They deserve every single ounce of criticism they’re getting right now. I still donated this year, I still bought a new UGA hat and and a few shirts before the season because I foolishly bought into this dream team and Richt’s fired up again total crap. Now I feel like I was tricked and lied to. I’ll always love and root for the Bulldogs no matter what but I don’t recall signing anything saying I couldn’t be critical of the coaching staff when they’re on a consistent 3-4 year downhill slide to mediocrity and I’m a part of footing the bill for it.
Actually in 2002 I didn’t have much criticism, I was pretty darn happy with 13-1 and they were a solid and disciplined team (with Donnan’s players, lol). In 2007, yes I had some criticism because I saw the beginnings of this downhill slide. Even though it was a good year, 2007 really was the first year I glaringly (my eyes were wide open) noticed the lack of discipline, lack of creativity on offense and other problems that have continued and only gotten worse. I didn’t have near as much criticism in 2007 as I do now. I was more just a little concerned about what I was seeing but yes, I’ll admit I had a little that year.
2007: 11-2
2008: 10-3
2009: 8-5
2010: 6-7
Please tell me I’m not the only one that sees a pattern that’s not so good here. As I said before, we can blow off steam and play armchair coach/AD on these comments and in blogs, forums…whatever, but the only real recourse we have as fans is to leave games early, not go to games and/or not donate and I just refuse to believe that people exercising those options to send a message are “bad fans”.
I hope like crazy that we beat SC and turn this thing around but the realist in me just doesn’t see how it’s going to happen under the current coaching staff. Too many of the same problems cropping up every year for the past 3-4 years that don’t seem capable of being corrected by CMR and company.

In my opinion, the D showed signs of improvement from last season, but ONLY in the 1st half of the Boise game. They held Boise to 14 pts. in the 1st half and did a good job in making stops. Unfortunately, during the 2nd half, things went south and Boise had a field day. If the D can GATA against SC (all 4 quarters) like they did in the 1st half of Sat’s game, then I think they will be able to keep it competitive. The primary issue with this team is the offense and the O-line. Murray is not the issue, it’s the poor job that the O-line is doing. I don’t know how we can fix that in the short term, but here’s hoping that we will see a different team on Sat. On a side note, Malcolm Mitchell needs to see a lot of playing time this season. The kid is a play maker & I see him doing great things while at UGA. GO DAWGS!

I think UGA can definately win the game if they can play with the defensive intensity they started with in the Boise St. game. USC’s offense won’t be near as balanced and the qb play will be several notches below. They did just play against a Heisman candidate. Get Boykin maybe a 3-5 touches on offense, use Samuel mainly for blocking until he gets his legs and let Murray get out of pocket more and use his legs. I’ve seen Lattimore a few times and while he’s a good back, I don’t see him as a great back. He gets tough yards between the tackles but isn’t much of a breakaway threat. Make Garcia win the game if he can. It will be a close game. 24-20 UGA

It probably about the same frequency as folks who claim that anyone not posting one negative post after another are the ones that caused the football team to fail in the first place, wouldn’t you say. And it WAY less than the folks who flatly call other names and insults, when they don’t go for the exaggerations and bashing that goes on in here.
You don’t seem like an irrational guy. You sound like a great dawg fan. Why would you feel so victimized by the folks who call out “bad fans”, when you know they weren’t talking to you in the first place?
And on the other , the reason I focused on the term “blindly” the word, I am pretty sure you know. The point was that now that you are no longer standing by and (insert whatever term) supporting this staff, what actual changes to your action will there be? As if you were somehow blindly supporting them 2 weeks ago, but not today. I’m sure you do want the “team” to win, and you still realize who is coaching them. Pretty much the same as yesterday, last week, 2002. Just found it odd to make such a declaration.
And of course you meant that anybody supporting this staff right now is doing so “blindly”. Which is pretty much as misplaced as calling somebody a “bad fan” is it not?

NJ Dawg, I’ve tried to draw a picture for these guys but they don’t buy in. You are totally correct in you assessment of Richt winning with Donnan’s players. All the way to 2006, or 2007 as you pointed out. When you get down to the theory, or science of motivation, culture, whatever you want to call it, new people come in and will fit into the environment they are brought into. People will say Donnan’s players were gone in 2005, 2006. They were, but the new players being signed in 2003, 2004 were exposed, and learned from those that Donnan had recruited. It wasn’t until 2007 that the culture had been eroded to the point we were seeing cracks in the foundation. Now, we have no one on this team that has experienced the work ethic, the loyalty, the discipline, of the Donnan era players. Mark Richt came along a lot like Chuck Gruden, and won with someone elses players. His weakness has been that he himself isn’t capable of building an organization that can be successful. Pure and simple, he doesn’t have CEO qualities. As popular as he is with some, he will not turn this around, and he will be gone at the end of this year. He will continue to prosper in other areas.

South Carolina’s defensive line will obliterate Georgia’s inexperienced O-line. This will force Murray to make some quick and rather hasty decisions that he ought not make or take more sacks. I would also anticipate some holding penalties that will be drive killers. As previously mentioned, Crowell is not the answer this year in the backfield, but will hopefully progress with more experience. Georgia’s defense will be sucking wind by halftime after the offense fails to move the ball downfield. This is going to be a repeat of the Boise game except that South Carolina will be able to both run the ball with Lattimore and pass the ball into open space when necessary. I really don’t think this game is going to be a close one. Carolina by three scores or more.

AltamahaDawg,
Lol, I don’t feel victimized at all. I have a bunch of buddies back in ATL that are kool aid drinking Richt lovers so they give me crap about being a bad or fairweather fan every time I have any little criticism for the coaching staff. Then I come on here and see more of the same. Was really just venting I suppose because I think the “bad fan” or “not a real fan” label that gets put on some of the people criticizing is unwarranted. I’m sure from reading my comments here it probably seems as if I’m some totally obsessed UGA fan that thinks about nothing else but in reality being a UGA fan doesn’t really take up very much of my time or energy. I definitely have much more important things to worry about.
If Richt is still the coach next season there will definitely be changes in my action. If Richt is still the coach next year I won’t be donating, I probably won’t buy any new gear and I definitely won’t be spending the money on plane tickets, hotels and game tickets to go to a few games like I normally do. As I’ve mentioned, that’s all I can really do as a fan to express my disapproval of the current situation. 2 weeks ago, before I saw the same old bs on the field I’ve been seeing for 3-4 years, I was a fool buying into the dream team and Richt being more excited and energized crap. Now I know better, I won’t be fooled again.
The “blindly” was simply a bad choice of words but I do feel that anyone still supporting this current coaching staff and thinking they can turn anything around must be as blind as a 200 year old albino cave bat.

Major doubts that UGA can win this one because of Mark Richt and Mike Bobo’s idea that UGA can run a no-huddle spread. This stupid idea will yield at least a couple of unexpected losses because when it fails (often), the D will be back on the field before it can catch it’s breath. How Richt thinks he can win in the SEC and save his job with this nonsense is shocking. Bobo is headed for high school football, we know that. It’s Richt who obviously has lost it. UGA has NEVER won anything or contended for the East unless they played D, ran the ball successfully and kept the ball away from the other team. I guess we can begin the process of speculating who the next coach will be at UGA. Even if UGA wins Saturday, they’ll get waxed by Mississippi State and lose again to Florida and probably either Auburn or Ga Tech. 8-4 at best this season.

Well If that makes you feel better, not to buy a new hat, we all do what we got to do. McGarity isn’t really taking that into account is my guess.
It occurs to me that what you really want is to be able to ignore anyone else’s take on it and just lable them, but you don’t think its fair if they do the same towards you. I’d say your friends probably are reacting more to you dismissing them as nothing more than “kool-aid drinkers” or “Richt Lovers” with no regards to thier actual motivations or perspectives, so they finally resorted to throwing you into some broad oversimplified categories too. I didn;t realize you were telling us about folks over there.
Personally, I have a very wide range of very passionate dawg fans pals, (of al opinions) and come into contact with a town full of them, and I never encounter what folks claim, “thier freinds” are likeor say, so I admit I don’t really know what’s thats like.

AltamahaDawg,
You kill me dude. You must be one of those “devil’s advocate” guys that just likes to argue no matter what the debate is. McGarity may not care if I don’t buy a hat but he should care if my wife and I don’t donate for the first time in 12 years. We may not be up there with the biggest boosters but we give a pretty decent amount every year.
I’m not putting a label on anyone. Just simply saying don’t call me a bad fan for criticizing this awful coaching staff. I criticize because I care, I love the Dawgs and I don’t like what I’ve been seeing the past 3-4 years. There’s no need for you to read deeper into it, there’s no hidden or deeper meaning there. I don’t come at my buddies out of the gate with the “kool-aid drinker” or “Richt Lover” deal, that’s my response to them when they come at me with being a bad fan for criticizing.

Blog nation, Listen week in and Week out we say what the Dawgs should, could, and if they “just would”. Folks there’s one thing that Basketball, Baseball, and Football have in common. Basic fundamentals, and less face it Georgia(the vast majority) is not playing sound fundamental football. Here’s a breakdown of what needs corrected. Lets start at QB: Aaron Murray on more than one occasion held the ball way to long, locks in on Charles a little to much as a result of being H.S. teammates, and isn’t being productive in the pocket. Receivers up next, T.King at times looks great, but that’s just it he isn’t consistent from game to game, and Marlon Brown seems to be at best a third receiver. It’s time to look at some freshmen, and someone please explain why Rantavious Wooten isn’t getting the ball in space? Next up our O-Line, this was perhaps the worst performance of all groups in the Boise game with Anderson getting two penalties on the first five plays, and our Tackles just got beat off the ball all night.Tight Ends looked good, although Bobo never seems to put them in two T.E. set’s enough. And finally on this side of the Ball, Richard Samuels is to stiff, Isiah seems to be the real deal, but why is “Boo Malcome” not getting one touch?Dawg fans, remember some back named Terrell Davis? point being give this guy some touches. Knowshon set down a year, and look at what he did.give this guy some touches. Now to our Defense, Somebody, anybody explain to me how to 6′4 + 350lb guys at nose tackle be handled so easy by a 5″11 285 nose center? Linebackers on run plays looked great,(J. Jones the real deal) but where was they on those short dump passes to the Tight Ends? Didn’t our to D Ends get recruited as D Tackles? Where was T.J. Stripling, Ray Drew, both highly recruited pure Defensive Ends? Believe it or not the secondary played great, I thought that Boise got a lot of short passes off and didn’t get away with the long ball to much. This week Richt must focus on play calling, pulling guys who under perform, and Grantham as got to make guys play with fire in that belly. South Carolina can be passed on, they stunk on D against ECU and Georgia can pull this off. Lets go Dawg Nation, because not only is Richt on the “HOT SEAT”, But this loss would cost a lot of no shows at Sanford Stadium this year.

NJ Dawg, it’s hard to hear another fan talk about what has happened “the last 3-4 years” .. yes, last year was a disaster at 6-7. The year before was 8-5. Both of those years were with first year starters. But the year before that was 2008 and they had a 10 win season. And four years ago was 2007 and they won 11 games topped off by a BCS bowl game win. In fact, before the 8-5 2009 season, UGA had won 74 games over a 7 year span from 2002-2008. But back to back mediocre seasons and everyone thinks they’re a soon-to-be SEC coach themselves. Let this season play out!

Well bingo. Are you new here?
And i get very well you not wanting to be called a bad fan. I think that’s silly thing to call anyone. Not even sure what bad fans means. A bad fan just doesnt care or watch if you ask me. …My point was I am POSITIVE that your pals are not “koolaid drinking Richt Lovers” anymore than you are a “bad fan”.
I think the reason you don;t understand why some folks are not as vocally upset is that if you will notice, there were a lot of us that were very measured in our reasonable expectations this summer. We don’t HAVE to declare all of a sudden we aren’t going to buy any more tickets, we knew when we bought them this year what the deal was.
You claim you bought into the hype of the dream team and a energetic coach, and not that they lost to BSU in miserable form , you no longer believe any of that.
I ,and quite a few in here, aren;t really as hype sensitive i suppose. And we don;t discard the bottom line so quick. STILL believe that was an awesome recruiting class bringing much needed talent but never expected they could transform a 6-7 team into a top 5 in a matter of weeks. When it didnt, i wasn;t as surprised. We STILL believe the staff put a lot more time in conditioning, but that was always a matter of degrees in the first place , not night and day. they should finish stronger in late game with the score on the line. We STILL believe that every single sports writer, player, friend, and outsider that covered the dawgs was correct in saying that the staff showed more urgency, and energy in the offseason. But it was never a magic formula. We KNOW the behaviour issues were down. So while we are completely disappointed that it didn’t show up better in game 1 out of 12 (and the toughest) I’df still rather they did. We expected a team to have a much more successful season. I think they will. The coach position will take take of itself.
(we also knew what the Oline was, and how thin we were at postions, and how freshman are normally not supermen).

TampaDawg,
And how many first year starters do we have this year? Quite a few. Why do we have 3 years in a row of “first year starters”? That doesn’t seem to make sense. I realize we had a good record in ‘07 and ‘08 but ‘07 was the first year I started noticing the glaring lack of discipline, lack of fundamentals, lack of creativity, etc., etc. All of the problems I started noticing in ‘07 have just gotten worse every year. Besides, you can thank Stafford and Moreno for the records in ‘07 and ‘08, without those 2 the records probably would have been more akin to last season and the ‘09 season.
I’m not claiming to be a soon-to-be SEC coach but gimme a break. You don’t have to be a coach or football expert to see the problems. It’s pretty sad when your 12 year old nephew that’s never played a lick of football in his life keeps asking you “Why do they keep running up the middle over and over when it never works?” and “Why do they get so many penalties?” and “why can’t they tackle anyone?” and “Why can’t they block anyone?”

AltamahaDawg,
Lol, I guess I am kind of new here. Been lurking for years but usually just keep my opinions to myself. I guess I’m experiencing a lack of UGA comradery (kind of funny that AJC’s spellcheck thinks comradery is spelled wrong or not a word, lol) and UGA discussion up here in Jersey so thought I’d jump in here.
I wasn’t expecting us to go from last year to a title contender this year or anything and although I was hoping, I realistically wasn’t really expecting a win over Boise either. I was however expecting to see a much more disciplined, stronger and fundamentally sound team against Boise. What I saw was the opposite and they looked even worse than they did against UCF in the bowl game.
Oh, and I’m not discarding the bottom line. The bottom line here in my humble opinion is that the current coaching staff has no clue what the f they’re doing. I just can’t think of any other explanation for how we consistently get so much talent but don’t do anything with it under the current regime.
