So many people to thank for this award. I’d like to thank Chip for all his hard work and super writing. I’d like to thank Coach Mark Richt for his dedication in doing what is right. And I’d like to thank Mike BoBo for his lackluster playcalling. I spent $300 this weekend for nothing.

Im just as disappointed as the next fan, but when you think about it….we did play the #5 team in the land whom just happens to have agood team. Even i thought they were overrated but now we see they are actually a descent team. However, I would like to see Richt take over Offensive Playcalling…..I’ve lost faith in Bobo for the moment.

Very disappointed….all I can say is I am very confused. Everyone has been saying that we had no running game, and that boisie state was a fun and gun offense that will blast you all over the field if you let them ( which they did )…. I just do not understand the play calling from the get go..Why did we play right in to their game plan. You think we have no running game we step up and establish one like a big bad sec team should. We then control the tempo of the game and the clock. Do not give them the chance to throw at will. When did we become a spread no huddle attack. We have no established receivers but yet we depend on this to bring glory back to uga. We have a very un-healthy thin offensive line but then we add the pressure of no huddle..i don’t get it. Then this not only stop’s the clock it kills our field position. Stop me if I am wrong but I believe boise never started any of their drives deeper than the 35 yard line…the defense never had a chance to get off the field and catch their breath. 3 and out, 3 and out. Why did we come out of the locker room so late before the start of the second half. There was zero warm up time for the players. That is why they were so flat to start the second half. These are all things I JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!! But most of all 3rd and 16 and we run a freakin DRAW!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrugh! i mean really BOOBOO you can only ride on that pass to cory allen at grant field for so long!Enter your comments here

Nothing good comes from being a bad football team. The players left If Richt leaves will have a sour taste in their mouth for the University who courted them. The new guy will have a tough time winning this bunch over, due to Richt’s “style”, and you can take that any way you want to.
A big win Saturday would ease a lot of things. After watching both our lines play Saturday, I don’t think that is physically possible. I think Carolina is bigger and probably more physical than Boise. We got our work cut out for us.

Everybody loves to hate Bobo, but he’s just running the plays Richt gives him to run.

Remember when we were all screaming that Richt needed to get an offensive coordinator and stop trying to call plays from the sideline?

Unless we find 2 or 3 new offensive linemen this week, this coming Saturday may be painful to watch….

UGA advocate; its not about losing to the #5 team, its not being in the game after the 1st quarter. You cant hand the ball off 7 yards deep against a fast dline and expect to consistently gain positive yards.fla and auburn executed this play because the QB had the option of keeping the ball and running.The I formation was working in the 3rd quarter and after we got past the 50 we went back to the shotgun for negative yrds.Bobo needs to get his mind right and use the massive load of a fullback to do some blocking.

We are getting a lot of comments from ones who are not UGA fans. Mark Richt, is a great coach and also a great recruiter. Remember there are a lot of schools, especially down South that would like to see Coach Richt go because of his recruiting ability. He will get this turned around, lets give him time. I will definitely take the number of wins and losses that we had under Mark Richt’s leadership during his first ten years, for the second ten years with him as our head coach. Being a Christian, we must remember that we had better be careful what we pray and hope for, because we just might get it. Which means that if we lose Coach Richt, we might not be as near as successful as we would be if we kept Coach Richt. Lets keep our Coach, the wins will eventually come. Go Dawgs.

We played 15 true freshman. Boise wasn’t ranked #5 because they have a few trick plays. We got beat and beat down. Can we come back and compete in this league? It looks unlikely because after the first eleven, we got nothin’. Either support what we have and give them credit for effort or get off the wagon.

Much as I love talking about football and speculating what might happen, the level of negativity from some of the haters, impostors, and obnoxious fans has turned me off. Go Dawgs. Millions still support you and the coaches. We are smart enough to know that the panic driven emotionalism that these losers are trying to generate–right in the middle of the most important part of the season, only hurts the Dawgs. If changes need to be made, that needs to come at the end, and under wise counsel. I’m all for constructive criticism, like what kind of plays can be called to minimize inexperience on the offensive line, or any other constructive point, but the negativity has gotten hysterical (not the funny kind).

What’s more frustrating? Watching Richt and the boys continue to be outcoached and waste top notch talent each week with a confused, unprepared, and underperforming bunch of high school all americans or being called a “non-fan” because we criticize the job they are doing and the product they are putting on the field? Alumni continue to support them financially, they are given state of the art facilities, top 5 merchandise sales, top 8 recruiting classes in a state that is oozing high school talent yet I am “non-fan” because I refuse to sit back and play the “everything will be fine” card. It’s not, it hasn’t been, and I’ve seen nothing so far that leads me to believe it will be under this regime.

A hard fought loss would’ve done wonders for A LOT of fans but the fact that you once again got embarrassed on national t.v. looking like the same poorly coached, confused, and underprepared team should not give anyone an optimistic feeling.

I don’t think it’s asking too much from a coaching staff that makes millions, to have their team ready to play. If they were beat after a hard fought battle, or if they played hard and were just outmatched..Okay. That’s no the case at all. The team was not prepared it was MORE than obvious. Losing is not what it’s all about ..it’s the manner they lose. The look confused , lazy on defense (still walking around while Boise is lined up ready to go). Their helmets popping off about a dozen times. The whole thing was not Georgia football we grew up watching.

Okay the other teams better! But at least look like well oiled team. UGA is far from that right now.

Ken, if he is such a great recruiter & a great coach, where are the great wins in the last 5 years? The last quality win in a game that meant something was the 2005 SEC Champ game. That’s over 5 years ago!!!. The coaches are overpaid & the players are either overhyped or undercoached.

I’m with you, Mr. Dawg. I support the coaches and the players 100% until they are no longer our coaches or players. And then I support the next guy(s). You will NEVER see me calling out or criticizing individuals on a blog, especially individuals who are doing their best for MY university. I’m the same way with my Braves and my Falcons. To me, that’s a true fan.

Does that mean I am always happy with how things go? No. Does that mean I fully support my team? Yes! I was appalled when Florida fans never gave Ron Zook a chance, and continue to be disturbed when similar things occur around the country.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: while I want to win a national championship (or World Series, or Super Bowl) as much as the next guy, the ultimate goal is to play hard, play fair, and to enjoy the experience. I am sure many of you would give up the 14 straight years of division championships for the Marlins’ 2 World Series victories, but I wouldn’t. I enjoyed every minute of those 14 years, just as I am enjoying this year.

Back to the Dawgs: I have no doubt that everyone connected with the Georgia football team is doing what they think is best, to the best of their abilities. Maybe if we supported them fully, instead of tearing them down at every opportunity, they would be more succesful. Character is revealed by how you deal with adversity, and I, for one, am ashamed at “fans” who criticize individuals on twitter, facebook, blogs, etc. Let’s get behind them and give them our FULL support, in victory AND defeat!

This team is too young for the expectations placed on it. Period. UGA fans need to change their tampons and quit whining. We played a better team full of 5th year seniors who have won on the big stage.

My hope is that the team and coaches, which do have a lot of potential doesn’t listen to the whiners and tinker with anything esle….

We havent had depth in 5 years. We need to establish depth and coach them up….then consistent winning seasons will ensue.

Blame roster mismanagement, lack of depth, and lack of inexperience to the decline if you want to point at anything.

Dissappointment means you care….which you should continue to do in a supportive role.

Quit all the whining….jeezus I didn’t know I lived in a state full of cry babies and whiners, complainers, know it alls and doomsayers….

Any real men left in the south? Open your eyes and quit listening to the hype pimps at ESPN, etc…your expectations may actually come in line with the team you should know, love and support.

Mark Richt is a good, spiritual man but more importantly he’s a heck of a football coach. We are all aware that we have lost 9 of our last 14 SEC games and 14 of our last 29 games overall, but Richt has proven what he can do. He deserves our support and none of the boos and empty seats that were all over the dome on Saturday night in the 4th quarter. Shame on my fellow Dawg fans! (though I can’t say I’m surprised any more with today’s “what have you done for me mentality”)

Frankly, CMR should have been let go last yr. – this soap opera just keep playing with uninterested coaches getting paid tremendous salaries and continually disappointing Ga. fans across the country. Nothing will change this program til UGA gets a top caliber head coach who is fanatical about winning and is equipped to coach in the current SEC talent pool. Richt ain’t that guy and will never be that coach – time to start making major changes, better late than never!!!

This looks to be that AM will have to buck that trend of losing games he throws the ball 30+ times. Our running attack will be hard to find I believe. It is going to have to be through the air. I think 40+ attempts are instore to win the game. Spread the field and dink, dunk and over the top would be my game plan. Use the passing game as your running attack.

I would say that the majority of you drink a lot of beer and are couch potatoes who never played legit college ball. Believe me- I meet a lot of your type with the job I have. Two questions-

1. Why does the coaches poll(voted on by quality coaches who actually know the game and are in the trenches) ranked them up so high?

2. For those who say they can’t do it week in week out in the SEC but say they are a great team with time to prepare but not if back to back grind. Why can’t you then admit it’s not a terrible loss for UGA?

No disrespect is meant but come on- have some rational though. And yes, I believe the Dawgs will soundly defeat SC.

Also, I just saw a dumb tweet by Aaron Murray reported on ESPN NU. He posted “Next stop the Georgia Dome. It’d time! I’ll hit ya’ll up later, it’s time to kick some a**”. Looks like his a** was the only kicked on the last sack. We already knew about Boykin disrespecting the Boise coach and then JJ trashes the fans.

1) Boise also had 8 months to prepare, and they were coming off a 13-1 season.

2) I didn’t say there didn’t need to be changes. That is for the admin to decide. I only said that I support them 100% until they are no longer my coach. I can disagree all I want with what is going on, but I do that privately, not on a public forum or by tweeting players, or booing coaches, etc.

Let’s be clear on a few things. One, for fans of the UGA program, we never blame the players for the outcomes. These are talented kids who work extremely hard to prepare for football games and for life. Most of us do not blame the kids for the outcome of the game. The ones that do should be ashamed for not being true fans. Having said that, the coaches allow the players to be in the target area by making statements like our execution was not that good or that we have to do better in certain areas. That places the targets on the kids versus saying we did not do a good enough job in preparing the players or we did not make enough in game adjustments.

2. The reason so many fans are upset with the current coaching staff has very little to do with wins and losses. It is in the way we lose games. If we had run plays that made sense with the team we had and we still lost, we would walk away saying we played our game and BSU beat us at it. They are a good football team and they earned our respect. They indeed earned the UGA nation respect but the coaching staff lost it. All of the changes that were discussed throughout the offseason did not come to fruition. Maybe that was due to the better opponent, maybe not. I think we all question why you would put a behemoth of a FB in the backfield and not utilize him. Why would you talk about an attacking blitzing defense but not blitz even when you have your missing pieces. We could have lost by 50 but if we had pounded the ball out of the I, play action passed out of the I more, or let Murray actually keep the read option, I don’t think people would be as upset. If the defense had blitzed more than the 4-5 times they did, I think people would have said, our players are still young and we got beat. Running a 3-4 bend but don’t break defensive philosophy a la Joe Kines is not what we are paying $750,000 a year for. I have been a CMR supporter and defender for years but what I saw in the dome was not something I have support for. Yes, I will be at the game this weekend. Yes I will cheer to the very end… just like this last weekend. Our players deserve that. Our players also deserve coaches that put them in position to perform well. Win or lose this weekend, I just want to see aggressive defensive play calling and consistent, power football.

Perhaps we long-time UGA fans just need to come down to earth and learn to accept a sold 7-5 or 8-4 season record and a holiday trip to Nashville or Shreveport or Birmingham.

At least Richt is predictable by this point. We’re not winning championships, but we’re not on probation, either. Richt’s players show immaturity in social media; in driving around parking decks; in knowing the importance of showing up for court dates; and in how they play – whether in football uniforms or in power ranger costumes, but at least they are not getting the university in trouble with the NCAA.

Maybe we must live with the fact that we will not be Alabama under Saban or Florida under Meyer or anyteam under Spurrier.

“Change” ain’t always better. For those fellow Dawg loyalists who are calling for “change” just observe what “hope and change” has done for our country.

Coaches poll just out———-Georgia still ranked. Just not in the top 25. the dawgs slide to #30.

If we lose Sat we will slide into the BLACK HOLE in space never to be relevant again until we get a new coaching staff top to bottom. I do think McGarity will hold off and not fire Richt until after he is embarrased by Miss. State.

When Richt is fired I would bet he will never be head coach of any major school. He will be lucky to land an OC job.

Looks like old Bobby Bowen was right about Richt when he said as he left FSU, “I just don’t think Mark is tough enough to be a head coach.” Truer words

OK, I’ve heard enough of the ‘Richt should retire as a coach & start preaching’ and ‘UGA has a bunch of band-wagon fans’, etc, etc. But I can tell you that while both of those things might have some truth in them, if you display this kind of rhetoric then that makes you less of a person than a band-wagon fan & certainly a preacher. Do I think Richt could’ve/should’ve made better decisions with hiring & firing assistant coaches? You bet I do. But I don’t attack him personally. I was sitting 5 rows behind the Boise bench and was amazed at the lack of athletes on their team, but after just about every change of possession their players would come off the field smiling and laughing in unbelief. When the 2 teams came out after the half, Boise was fired up and UGA looked like they did not want to be there. It needs to change drastically or Spurrier will hang a half a hundred on the Dawgs.

It is funny how so many people prior to the opening game has made the statement that UGA’s first two games are their toughest, even predicting them to go 10-2 after most likely losing the first two games. Then they talk about firing the Head Coach because we lost to the #5 Team in the Nation that is supported by a Heisman Candidate Quarterback. Instead of calling for the heads of the coaches and sending nasty messages to the players, Support the whole team. IF you can’t support the whole team, find another team to support.

First, there is a MD poser @3:34. Now Lowcountry, I respect you man but I’m tired of hearing excuses for CMR, and that isn’t aimed at you, he deserves every once of criticism he’s getting. Why does a man get thin skinned and defensive, it’s because he knows what is being said is true. He doesn’t have a clue what to do, IMO he’s scared. I think he knows he’s failed and is having a hard time dealing with it. The last thing these kids should have to do is come to the defense of their coach.

Second, the kids do deserve our support, I agree emphatically. What’s debatable among us is what the kids are getting from Richt. I guess it just depends on what we think they should take away from their experience at UGA. I can’t tell you that, I’m just looking at it from the football perspective which may be wrong. This staff is not putting these kids in a position to win games IMO.

Answer to the questions is: We lack top quality Offensive linemen AND WE LACK some depth on the same. This is due to mis reads on kids like OT Benedict that left after having a catostrophic HS knee injury, then as a Frosh red shirting and then, it not “healing” enough to suit Daddy. This is due to kids simply quitting and walking away and career injuries to kids like Trinton Sturdivant who just never played 100% healthy.

Richt has not gone out and recuited HS O linemen in sheer numbers, if only to have them on the squad for depth. This is why we have maybe 7 or 8 TOTAL O line guys and most are in the Journeyman category. We saw that Saturday night and will view it again vs SC on Saturday. That lackluster O line performance was not an abberation but a constant with his particular bunch. They are second and third team linemen on most squads. This is why Tracey Searels QUIT for U of Texas. He knew that this year would be very ugly due to 0 quality linemen. Three or four O linemen at UGA left after he left, making the situation far worse.

CMR is 100% repsonsible for this lack of O line recruiting and his sub standard coaching staff. HE MUST GO.

UGA will be fine come 2012 and 2013, as we do have a core nucleus of skilled stars and with some bad ass coaching and some JUCO O linemen in sheer numbers, we should be fine going forward. Richt must be fired after the SC game, however. Then, we can search for the right guy all year lond.

I went to Air Force where we only had 4 plays: Option Left, Option Right, Pass, Punt. Our playbook there was more diverse and unpredictable than the playcalling from BOBO the other night. He’s just in over his head. 8 months after not scoring a touchdown in a bowl game you had 4 weeks to prepare for, you start the first possession with 2 false starts and a delay of game? Wow coach, what have you been working on? Do you not know you’re on the hotseat?

Maybe you are correct but at least we could have said we did everything to win. A loss is a loss. I guess I have a bit of a riverboat gambler in me in the aspect that you may beat me but at least you’ll know I was there. The game was decided in the first drive of the second half. At that point, I am doing everything I can to create pressure, a turnover, anything positive to bring energy back into the playing field.

here is some feedback that will hopefully make its way back to the players and coaches:

Orson- we have not given up on you, the team or the coaches. That said, it is very concerning that with 8 months to prepare- we come out looking like we did against UCF.

White- Please know that most of the true fans are behind this team and coaches and want you to suceed. I contribute hard earned money to UGA and this football team- so No- its not just you and the others in the locker room. Maybe get a bit humbled instead of the us against them mentality. We are all in this together.

Mr. Murray; As the leader of this team- might I suggest that we stop all the talk of how great this one and that one is and tweeting oposing head coaches and just go out and prove it on the field. Its easy for you to dismiss fan reaction and to not worry about what fans think but again, that is puting a divide between this team and the majority of fans that are in this with you. We are just so tired of smack talk and not going out and backing it up. Great teams dont smack talk. Did you smack talk at Plant when you were on your way to State Championship? Did any of your teammates tweet one of the opposing coaches daring him to do anything??????

Bottom line- we want to win and do it with class. lets put Boise behind us ALL and go handle carolina.,.

Well. let’s see Just Askin…

UGA was ranked #2 at the end of 2007. That’s pretty elite. They won SEC titles in 2005 and 2002. That’s pretty elite. They had an undisputed national championship in 1980, and a 43-4-1 record from 1980-1983. That’s pretty elite. They won SEC championships in 1966, 1968, and 1976. That’s pretty elite. They won the SEC in 1959 with a 10-1 record. That’s pretty elite. In the 40s, they won the SEC 3 times (42, 46, and 48). That’s pretty elite. I could go on. They’ve had several undefeated seasons in their history. That’s pretty elite. (Ask Florida fans how many they have had!)

Except for dry spells in the 50s and the 90s, the Dawgs have done pretty well for themselves through the years.

I must admit I started to believe the hype….Then the game started with penalties showing a lack of preparation and I knew it was over. “It” being the season folks… Let’s be reasonable here… We have no depth on our OLine and our LB’s are in major trouble. I would move Samuels back over there ASAP! I think we are looking at a 4-8 campaign at best as I originally expected after the UCF debacle. We are basically the same team without AJ and Ealey.

I think the way to solve the problem now is to fire CMR on 9-11 and roll with what we have. If we move fast enough after the season is over we can hire a coach who can keep a recruiting class intact perhaps. It’s gonna be between Mullen, Smart and Peterson. Folks I hate to say this because I like the guy but the CMR era at UGA is almost over. It’s time to start over.

I doubt that only 15-25% of the entire UGA Alumni Association are happy with Mark Richt because of his 2009, 2010 and current record. Period. That Liberty Bowl thing is still stuck in our throats. It has not been over looked by the $$$ folks. No sir.

Folks ……………………..UGA has the tools, the resources and facilities, the intangibles and the MONEY to make for a Top 10-15 team year in and out. We should always be in the HUNT for the SEC East.

What we saw last year and Vs Oklahoma State and U of CF in the Liberty and GT in 09 and Vs Boise State and MSU last year just ain’t it. The Florida thing is old too and that will change along with all the rest. Enough is enough OR it will be $$$ enough to the UGA coffers.

WE WILL demand change that WE CAN COUNT ON SOON and Dr. Adams is well aware of that. UGA-AD McGarity works for Dr Adams and it was Dr Adams who walked in one day after a GT loss and fired Jim Donnan after 6 mediocre seasons.

The shoe will drop so suddenly late one evening. Boom !!!

I detest booing no matter what is taking place. BUT, I do think fans would be more supportive if some of our players didn’t showboat after ANY play. Just once I wish they would make outstanding plays and then let the fans cheer without prompts. Also, I believe many of these guys view college as a pit stop to the NFL and do not really love Georgia as the fans do. Herschel may have “raised the roof” on Saturday, but never, ever did he urge the fans to yell or showboat. You can showboat when you win the SEC East!!

I think we need to make adjustments. Our offensive line doesn’t seem capable of pass blocking. So lets run quick pass plays that get the ball out of Murray’s hand immediately. And let’s stop running the ball up the middle.

We need to call plays that this offense can execute, not plays that work with a group of players we don’t have.

That said, the Dawgs have my support.

It’s been a frustrating year or so in UGA football, but I’m still a Dawg, and I still support my school and my team.

Let’s go Dawgs!

I hope the team does stop reading fan comments because there are a lot of hurtful and hateful things being said by “fans”. Fans don’t turn on their team after one loss and say the kind of things that are being said. I support our coach and our players and I will be in Sanford stadium loudly letting them know that. Go DAWGS SIC ‘EM and if you can’t support them give your tickets to someone who will cheer for them. They don’t need to have to play against SC and fans who are against them.

And by the way, it ain’t rocket science – get in shape, stay out of trouble, learn the plays, practice, and then execute on Saturday. After last season I seriously considered giving them up until I heard Richt speak at the Bulldog Club. I refuse to sit around and watch other programs win National Championships while we continue to struggle and dont hold our coaches responsible. I know a lof of Alums that have sold their tickets this season that are not happy with Richt or his staff. Maybe you will get your wish and UGA can join the Sunbelt Conference to complete and win there…….

Chances are the Broncos were hurt by playing a weak opponent such as Georgia. The bottom line: Boise shouldn’t have played UGA, but a more seasoned and quality SEC team such as Alabama, LSU or Florida. Those teams would elevate the Broncos into the BCS not Georgia.

A “top tier” SEC school has as its running backs a fumble-prone running back/linebacker/retread running back and a true freshman who has great potential. A “top tier SEC school has fat, slow, apparently slow-footed, and apparently not-too-bright offense linemen (maybe only 5 or 6 at that)who are dominated by smaller, not “athletic”, 2 and 3 star defensive linemen? How did we get to this condition? What happened to super-recruiter Garner? What happened to building a wall around this state? What have the athletic association, the contributors and the season ticket holders been getting for their $3 million per year for the last four years? We can go 6-7 a lot cheaper than that.

Trust McGarity…he is a DGD and will make the right decision at the right time.

Applaud Richt….no, not for the past few years, but for his past success and, for the most part, representing the program and the University with class and honor. This may well be his last season in Athens and I for one am going to express my gratitude door his efforts to UGA in the event he does not return next year. His era will be looked upon fondly regardless of the future.

Support the Student Athletes….despite the vitriolic expressions of our rivals and a limited few of our own fans, these young people are carrying a heavy load of academic study and physical rigors, not to mention the game time pressure.

Bulldog Nation – GATA! We may be slow on the line, and short at QB, and predictable in the plays we run; but we discovered in the Boise State game that we do have serious playmakers and an improving defense if we can get them some prolonged time off the field. Despite the turmoil, this Saturday the Dawgs will have something that S Carolina did not have in it’s first game just 70 miles from Columbia – a jammed packed, supportive and loud stadium. Show some heart Dawgs and GATA!

I hope that the majority of these negative comments are not coming from real Dawg fans. Living in Knoxville ,I’ve seen this present situation before. Most knowledgable Vol fans are now having buyers remorse, and would love to have Coach Fulmer back. If we fans do not stand behind Coach Richt ,we will experience the same fate as the Vol Nation. Trust me , it is not pretty. Because of parity, no SEC team will ever dominate football for a sustained period. Look what UT did in the 90’s,and UGA somewhat in the early 2000’s. Because of our great high school football programs in Ga., we will be a force in SEC football again.Coach Richt is the man to take us there.I would like to hear from the silent majority of real Dawg fans.For all you disgruntled so called fans, last time I checked, the interstate system will take you any other SEC stadium this Saturday. So lets take my job as an example. I am an IP litigation attorney. Let’s say in year one and year three I perform really well and make my firm a lot of money. Then in year six and year seven lets assume my clients terminate services and I am in the red. Do you think my firm would keep me on staff? You really think that once someone wins two SEC championships they are entitled to a long tenure? Look at UT, Fulmer won and then was ousted. Look at all the other dozens of examples. You call yourselves UGA fans, but don’t want to face reality that the program is broken. I was acceptable to supporting Richt after the Bulldog Club meeting. However, he set the expectations, not tha fans, and isn’t delivering what he pitched. Richt should have been honest and informed us it would take several years to rebuild, then all of the faithful wouldn’t be so upset right now.

I think we underestimated Boise. If they play well, they can beat anybody including Bama and the Sooners. I have no problem with how Richt handled the media today. I don’t know if he could have handled it better. We need better play calling. We need to give Crowell 20 carries per game. We need to play man coverage with our corners so we can rush the passer. Moore had too much time and he is far too good to have 5 -7 seconds to locate a receiver.

UGA looked bad after so much hype. USC will kill UGA this weekend if nothing improves. I think a lot of coach Richt, but his time is over in Athens. Fans should support the players and privately let the AD know their opinion. Then, a change will happen at the right time. How can so much talent look so bad on national TV. UGA will get the talent no matter the coach just because we have some of the best HS talent in the country. Imagine if Boise had UGA’s athletes.

It just comes down to how you are coached. You are only as good as you are coached. I was at the game and I would have to day that it was some of the most pathetic play calling that i have ever seen. Poor O-Line blocking to running the same Defense every down they were on the field. I mean if you are going to rush 4 and drop seven and still get passed on, why don’t you rush 6 and drop 5. Take some damn risks. The coaches seem to coach not to lose rather than coaching to win. The team was very undisciplined and seemed to be very confused. It just seems like the same crap, just a different year.

What Richt doesnt get is that getting today’s great recruit to perform and play with heart and discipline is different than it was even 10 years ago. When ESPN is watching your every move to see where you’ll sign,and airing your high school games, you lose team first perspective and you end up with a team of “superstars” that want to make the highlight reel.This is evidenced by the celebrations after routine tackles when your team is down 21. Richts offensive philosophy isn’t the main problem, though it is problematic. his main problem is that the culture and mindset of his players has changed, and he is still approaching them the same way as he did in his FSU years, and as he did when he first came to UGA.

I wouldn’t want to lose CMR, I think he needs to call the plays personally. If you look at the game or even watched the game you would understand that the Defense was on the field for what seemed like an entire quarter in the first half alone. People have commented that they looked winded and what not, of course when the Offense keeps going three and out while Boise drives up the field so who wouldn’t be tired? The only people putting CMR on the “hot seat” is the media. We missed a field goal and should’ve kicked another but then again maybe our players should’ve blocked better. The spread with the HB draw is pretty far from what we’ve been doing as a Pro Offensive scheme so it’s easy to understand how players let alone freshmen missed blocking assignments. If our Offense gets it together than I feel very good about our team since our Defense actually played darn well. I just hope CMR does something with Bobo…

Don dawg, I agree totally, but we are doing these young men a disservice by pretending that this current coaching staff is going to make them better football players and teammates with the way they are currently coached and handled. The tweets, the celebrations, the accepting of mediocrity, this IS NOT preparing them for life after football. Losing is acceptable only if you learn and grow from it, and do whats necessary to prevent it from becoming the norm in your life.

I was a big supporter of MR, but he is done.He could have found a NFL line coach but he hires a UAB SOFTY. The offensive play calling and lack of aggressive defense is sickening. BS had average mostly white receivers and we played soft zone and had safety’s 20 yards off the ball and sent base 3 or 4 man rushes against a slow QB that is accurate if standing flat footed in pocket. It’s time to start over. Call BS coach and give him our talent and money to work with. .

Coach Richt is a fine human being, with a heart and love for God and humanity. He is truly admirable in that regard and is a shining example of service to mankind. He is not however a great coach or manager of other coaches. I agree that no one should attack the young men personally either, but acceptance is complicity, and when you accept the actions and subpar performance, then you are not doing your duty as a leader to make the most out of these young men.

Boy, that’s unusual for Coach Richt to be so short with reporters. No doubt an indication that he really senses how high the heat is turned up on him. There are many ways he could’ve truthfully answered the question without being so snippy, but it sounds like he’s really feeling the pressure. Any Bulldog fan with a brain realizes this week’s game is the single most important game in Mark Richt’s coaching career. If we win, it doesn’t guarantee anything, but given our weak schedule the rest of the way, it would be a huge step in the direction of saving his job. If we lose but play well and are competitive (unlike last week), I think he still stands a chance of saving his job if he wins 9 of the next 10. But if we get blown out, I think he’s in real trouble, as things could get really ugly! Even though it’s a pretty easy schedule, MSU, UT, FLA, AUB, & GT could all beat us if things start spiralling out of control, as happened last year.

I love Coach Richt and I love the Dogs, and desperately want to see him and them succeed. A win on Sat. over a good team like SC would go a long way in quieting the naysayers. But given our terrible record against good teams in the last 3 years, the continued lack of execution on the line of scrimmage, and the pathetic play-calling of Mike Bobo, it’s awfully hard to predict a win for us. Sure hope I’m wrong… GO DOGS!!!

One game, one loss. The loss to Boisie State does not have to define our season, much less Richt’s ability to lead the team. I agree that it is a disturbing continuation of a downward trend in CMR’s record against ranked opponents. After the USC game on Saturday we will know if this team is really different and improved or not. No reasonable person thought we’d be undefeated this year, and losing in week one to the #5 team in the country should not have been a surprise to anyone. Let’s see how the team reacts and how well they play Carolina in Athens. CMR should (and clearly does) feel some pressure to win, but it takes a while to turn around a program on the slide. If UGA plays well Saturday and even if they lose, they could still end up 10-2, or at worst 9-3. If they DON’T play well and lose, then it could be a long season.

This is not a must win game.

We play 8 unranked teams, should go 8-0 there. 8-4, win the Bowl, that’s 9-4, 50% improvement in wins over 6-7 in 2010.

CMR youre dead on, its A TREND, this is the 4th year of it. I’d love for us to smack Carolina in the mouth and get the big win, but if you watched Carolina under adversity against East Carolina, and watched us under adversity for the last couple of years, the optmism slides. A win over Carolina would definitely be bucking the trend.

The defense has to help the offense out more with red zone play holding teams to field goals, TCU beat Boise by holding them to 1 td and then a bunch of field goals. Good plan for SC.

Also, defense needs to force turnovers if they see the offense struggling.

Special teams has to score if they see offense struggling.

Rush game has to pick it up if pass game struggles, vice versa.

I Hope some of the guys at Georgia read this….You are headed in the right direction…I’ve played and coached football all my life and I’ve been a UGA fan since the 60’s. Every team has it’s ups and downs but you can tell a team has turned the worm when they CARE as much as the fans and coaching staff. The talent is there to succeed. Now that being said…..
–The offensive line is young and inexperienced. Lost three in the offseason. Nobody’s fault, just the way it is.
–Murray was put in a a position to fail due to the plays called required him to hold the ball far too long for the inexperienced line and tailback to hold off an extremely talented defensive.
–Tailbacks were put in a position to fail for the same reason as above. Adjustments should have been made to correct this but apparently that was not an option. These coaches have been around long enough that they see and know the same things we do.
–Inability to keep the Boise St offense off the field with ball control is what cost UGA this game. The defense played well. Boise QB did not complete any big yardage passes. They did what UGA should have done….3-5 yard passes with occasional runs that stretched the field.
–With more experience UGA will beat them and may well play them again at the end of the year for the national championship.
–I saw USC play last weekend as well and am convinced that UGA can beat them. If that happens, they could conceivably finish the year with one loss. They will improve each week…again they are young for the most part and many of them will be back next year.
–If it wasn’t for their recent lack of success, this team would be heralded for it’s potential. But it sells more papers and air time to have Richt on the “HOT SEAT”. Bologna, this team ranks right up there with the 1980 squad. I do believe something has to be done regarding game strategy and I’ll guarantee you Richt does too, but he’s not going to publicize it. JUST BACK YOUR TEAM AND GIVE EM A BREAK. THE ARE WORKING THEIR COLLECTIVE BUTTS OFF TO DO WHAT EVERYONE KNOWS THEY CAN DO. BUT WHAT I’VE SEEN WRITTEN ABOUT THEM FROM THEIR “OWN”, COULD BE COUNTERPRODUCTIVE AND DEMORALIZING. You’re all being MORALE VAMPIRES.

Although this was a very disappointing loss, I will continue to support the team. Hopefully the rest of the season won’t look like this game. I’m not sure if Richt can survive if things spirals out of control. Not sure if Ga. is not that good or if Boise is as good as advertised or a combination of both? However, as a lifelong fan, I’m still supporting the team; win or lose.

It’s unfortunate that the players have put themselves in the Us against the world mode when the world includes loyal Georgia fans. Yes, a true loyal Georgia fan is one that is upset with what has been going on in Athens for several years and is tired of hearing how it is being corrected and then fed more of the same crap.

We are not against the players and not even personally the coaches, but look for better coaching of these athletes. They should be playing 100% for themselves and each other and there should not be a question of whether they are playing 100%. If they want to exclude the loyal Georgia fans who pay for the entire experience, they should be careful.

Helmets coming off on every play because there is too damn much hair under the helmet, chest pounding when someone makes a play they should make when they are getting their butts handed to them (down by 21 points), inability to make a yard against a team that is 45 lbs per man lighter, and excessive offensive penalties are embarassing to the loyal Georgia alum.

CMR is indeed a very good man and a great representative of the university. I do not question his character or ideals. I am not sure he has the fire and ability to take our team where they deserve to be. It seems he made a lot of changes since last year. He’s had time to study football and become an expert, but it needs to show on the bottom line.

AD McGarity is no fool. He will move at the appropriate time if things do not change quickly and I have complete trust in him.

I’ll buy it for another week. Go Dawgs! Maybe the defense will finally come together and shut down Lattimore. I say tag him with a Jarvis Jones spy the whole game. Put the big corner Commings on Alshon Jeffrey to try and limit him. Play man to man with those two guys. There is always the possibility and hope on any given Saturday. Sometimes it just all comes together. I just want to see a relentless team for 4 quarters.

Boykin gets the call and delivers an 80 yard run in the 1st quarter. Why did Bobo and Richt not allow him to carry the ball a 2nd time? I’m totally perplexed with the horrific play calling. I think we would have won it easily, but Georgia just has a bunch of drunk losers for fans. Booing the coaches, booing the team, leaving while the team still had a chance to come back (see the Auburn game). Just sucks the life out of the team. Anyone else notice there hasn’t been the first GATA after the game with Boise State or has there been the first word from Ben Jones? Three and outs don’t allow you to expand the playbook much either. As for Bobo remember he is a product of Mark Richt. He has coached at UGA all his career except one year at Jacksonville State. McClendon is in the same boat as was Willie. These guys are still on the job training by a coach who was unproven himself.

DamntheButcher, what game was you watching Saturday night? It wasn’t the Georgia game. The defense came out at the start of that game playing lights out. They stuffed them the first 3 times Boise had the ball. What happened was the inept offense going three and out every time they had the ball in the first half of the game except for one big trick play. The defense stayed on the field the whole first half. Boise coaches were smarter than ours. They decided to come out in the second half and go no huddle to gas our defense and finish them off and it worked. The offense was the whole problem Saturday night. You would have thought that there was only about 5 plays in Mike Bobo’s offense because he only called about 5 different plays.

UGA coaches are not good talent evaluators. The cornerbacks are the best receivers on the team. Bolkin and Brandon Smith are the playmakers that can turn a end-around or 5 yard pass into a 80 yard touchdown. Why aren’t they utilized more? Samuel is not a RB, he’s a fullback at best, a straight ahead runner with break away speed, but can’t find the hole.

Bunch of armchair QB’s and no I didn’t play Division I football, I played Division II football for the Montana State Bobcats. Richt is a master at deflecting blame on others. I wouldn’t put it past him to actually have a couple of folks on his personal payroll who can blog using as many as a dozen different names on forums like this. You really have to be a complete idiot to not see Richt as the totally incompetent coach that he is. Just look at the facts over his entire tenure at UGA. He can only do two things: Sell snowcones to Eskimos and recruit inner city high school kids (I think the second thing is derived from the first).

The success that Richt had early on was due to 1) Donnan’s good players, 2) a very good defensive coordinator, (Van Gorder), and 3) a good asst./off line coach in Calloway. All are gone now, and Richt has no idea on how to right this ship. The last 3 years + 1 game, should prove that to you. Flat tire, pretty funny, but you need to watch the tape again on a few of those issues. We tackled much better, and shut the run down much better. We didn’t allow much of anything deep. The only thing we didn’t do well on was underneath routes–I’m not sure we had more than a couple of those covered, and of course, pressure on Moore. On O, our blocking had such big problems, I’m not sure you got to see the play develop to distinguish it–they all kind of look the same when the back is fighting to get to the line. The D linemen were unbuckling Crowell’s chin strap as soon as he was handed the ball. I don’t have an excuse for J. Jones’ chin strap, but man, can that guy play football! Great motor. I also like Garrison Smith’s motor on a couple of plays–very strong pursuit and hustle. The SAT for tackling comes this Sat.

I will say this I was sitting in the upper deck in the endzone and quite frankly I like sitting there when I can because I can see where the players are on each play

Had we tossed sweeped to Crowell more with Figgins leading the way and our recievers doing offset blocking he would have gotten way more yards the play was the there

Also had we done exactly what boise did with crossing routes to with our TE’s and recievers more you would have see big yardage gains just like you saw when we threw to White and Charles on those very few big plays that were made

But no the famous sideline pass and deep balls was what we kept doing with draw runs to the Tail back with no blocking

It’s about your program declining to the point of being a second tier program to Alabama, LSU, and Florida. It’s about watching, of all teams, Auburn win a title last year and knowing your team should be as good as theirs when you’ve beaten them the last 4 years in a row. Old Dawg; Interesting article, but it doesn’t reveal that offenses within the SEC are scoring more then they did in 2005. I would submit that if BVG was the coach today, his current defense would allow more points per game then it did in 2005 as well. In a more pass friendly era, only having 1 defensive back drafted says a lot. I will not argue that BVG wasn’t a great defensive coach, but there are some major systemic problems in the program if both Willie and Todd Grantham couldn’t/can’t get the job done. Currently, the Dawgs have 2 NFL defensive coaches on staff. No one can tell me that they have no clue. With regards to Bobo, he has had better skilled position players than the 2001-2005 Dawgs. Stafford# 1 draft pick, Green # 4 draft pick, Moreno #12 draft pick and so on. He should be scoring more points. Just a few thoughts.

The line play on both sides is concerning. Only chance against Chickens is to throw often but no hurry up, and on occasion some reverses and receiver screens to Boykin and B. Smith. I really thought we would be able to pressure the other QB and to establish a smash mouth running game. Oh well, only chance is to throw often against fairly weak SC secondary.

I could care less what the players think. That is what is wrong now. I always hoped Coach Richt was at UGA as long as he wants to be and I still feel that way. But I do wish he would go back to the way he did things he did when he got there. First of all he made Tony Gilbert get a hair cut, I would make Jones and Crowell and anybody else that needs one get a hair cut. That was embarrassing the way Jones’ helmet kept coming off and he kept chasing the ball. How do you put a helmet on somebody when you don’t have one on. Go back to the I Formation and run the damn football. We won a SEC Championship with Musa Smith gaining over 1000 yards. Get some offensive linemen that can move. Saturday was emabrassing. I agree Boise State is good but UGA should not lose to them and be that dominated. Quit the dancing and start playing football. And once again I could care less what a player thinks.

Mark Richt needs to side step Mike Bobo and get hands on with this offense. When he was an OC he was known as a good creative play caller. I don’t believe Mike Bobo has it in him to be one. He was a very good QB coach who coached David Greene and D.J. Shockley. I just don’t think he has it in him to be a good OC or the capability to stay one step ahead of the defense and keep them on their heels.

Vince Dooley had 11 seasons out of 25 with his team unranked, 11 seasons with 4 or more losses, 8 seasons where the Dogs were out of the top 4 in the SEC, 1 losing season, 3 seasons of 5-5, 6-6, or 5-5-1. In the 6 years from 69-75, UGA was only ranked once at the end of the season. Almost all the poor years were BEFORE he won the National Championship. Fortunately Joel Eaves didn’t listen to the “Dump Dooley” idiots.

Boy, I sure am glad Richt knows what the hell he is doing. It’s a good thing the AD took all the extra responsibility from him so he could become a cutting edge expert again. If we still ran things like we did last year we would really suck with our 10th consecutive top 10 ranked recruiting class and third highest paid coaching staff. What a relief we don’t have that to worry about another mediocre, or worse, season.

Has anyone notice that since Bobo has been in charge of calling the plays our offense has sucked? I can take a loss, but when your offense looks confused on the first play of the game something is wrong. I’m a huge Richt supporter, but I was embrassed on how ill prepared we were. This can be fixed, Richt just has to stand up and take charge. Let’s go dawgs!!!!!!!!

CMR is a good man, but he has lost the fire. You can see it in his eyes on the field and in interviews. He doesn’t fully believe what he is saying. He really wants to just go do something church-related but can’t bring himself to admit it. He enjoys building character in his players but doesn’t have the fire to rip into them or his staff. He’s not demanding excellence. It’s time for a new approach.

“The only thing we didn’t do well on was underneath routes–I’m not sure we had more than a couple of those covered, and of course, pressure on Moore. On O, our blocking had such big problems, I’m not sure you got to see the play develop to distinguish it–they all kind of look the same when the back is fighting to get to the line. The D linemen were unbuckling Crowell’s chin strap as soon as he was handed the ball. I don’t have an excuse for J. Jones’ chin strap”

CHDawg, why is it that YOU can CRITICIZE the team, but you will not let anyone else ? 28 of 34 underneath isn’t not doing well; it is called a blitzkrieg. How is it again, CHDawg, that only YOU can say we did not block ? Explain that ? Only YOU can say anything about Jarvis Jones losing his helmet on 23 plays ? Just want to make sure we all get this straight. Who can and who cannot say anything negative, sir ?

Unlike Fat As* Tire, I have to get up in the morning and go to work. I can’t spend all day on the porch of my tin sided trailer making out with my sister while my Father/Uncle works on my mini-van. You sir have no clue about football but I’m guessing you can play the heck out of a 2 stringed banjo with all your in breeding. I was at the game Saturday night i sat in section 325 row 10.Everybody around me was talking about how awful we looked.As bad as we looked we can not fire Mark Richt after 1 game.Maybe he should have been let go after last year but since he was not we are stuck with him until the season end.There is no coach on this staff that I would want to see be head coach if Mark Richt was fired toninght.Richt should take over the play calling from Mike Bobo and give Bobo the option to stay on as qb coach until season end.

I don’t see any fight or fire in the players or coaches on this team. In the 1st half of the Boise’s game, I see lots of barks. In the 2nd half, I see no bites.
