Q&A: Richt disappointed in pass protection, encouraged by players’ attitudes

Here’s what Georgia coach Mark Richt had to say after Saturday night’s 35-21 loss to Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome.

Q: Opening statement:

A: “Congratulations to Boise State. They just beat us tonight. They were better than we were and my hats off to them. Our players understand understand that and our players understand that we’ve got to get a lot done before we play next week and open Southeastern Confewrence play. We’ve got a lot of work to do. We know that everybody’s 0-0 in league play. Our goal is to win the Eastern Division and that’s not changing. So we have to get ready for that. Boise State did a great job tonight and I congratulate them. Questions? . . .

Oh, I have an announcement. (Bacarri) Rambo is eligible to play next week. He was suspended for the first game for the usual team rules violation. Carlton Thomas will play next week, too.

Q: It looked like y’all were trying to execute a hurry-up offense and send in plays after the from the line of scrimmage after the defense was set. Was that the case and how’d you think the offense played?

A: “We did try to go up-tempo. Tried to run some no –huddle. We tried to spread it out a little more and get some of our guys out in space. We didn’t have an awful lot of success. Historically, Boise State’s defense has been pretty good. It’s not like they’re not one of the top defenses in America. But I think we’ll continue to do that. I don’t think we’re going to stop trying to do that. No matter what you do offensively, whether you go no-huddle or not, you’ve got to execute, you’ve got to get first downs, you’ve got to make plays. Whether we huddled or not I don’t know if that had any bearing on it.”

Q: What are you most disappointed about?

A: “First of all that we lost the game. I think our protection on third down was a little disappointing. The majority of our sacks came on third down. First and second down I thought we protected pretty good. Offensively that was an issue. Defensively we just couldn’t get them off the field once they got going in the second half. Just didn’t get them off the field enough.

Q: Your defense did not record a sack. Why couldn’t you get any pressure on Kellen Moore?

A: “He’s a very good player so he knows where to go with the ball and when to go there. They protected him well, too. He rarely got knocked down. We forced him a couple of times to throw the ball a little sooner than he wanted to, but we didn’t get any sacks. . . . We didn’t get enough pressure on him.”

Q: How would you assess the running game?

A: “It wasn’t real clean. They did a couple of things differently. They did a little more stunting and late movement. But we just didn’t block it clean enough to give them some space to run. The backs had to earn everything they got.”

Q: Your impressions of Boise State?

A: “We went in having an awful lot of respect for them.. We knew they were a very good football team. They were good on both sides of the ball. Very veteran defensive football team. An awful lot of experience on the offensive side of the ball as well. And they get after it. They did a great job.”

Q: What kind of adjustments do you need to make for South Carolina?

A: “We get a little time to think about what kind of adjustments we’ll have to do. We’ll have to do a better job than we did a year ago on quick screens and things of that nature. But we’ve got time to work on all that.”

Q: What’d you think of playing in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game?

A: “It was a big game, a big atmosphere. I thought the crowd was into it. The kids were excited on both sides. Everybody was excited. There was a lot of buzz around the city, a lot of buzz around the Dome and inside the Dome. It’s a great venue and a great game to play.”

Q: How bad are the injuries to Alec Ogletree and Kenarious Gates and how’d it affect your team’s play?

A: “Ogletree was probably, between Christian Robinson and Ogletree, we couldn’t really afford to lose one of those two guys. The drop off was going to be pretty steep, with true freshmen and a walk-on in there. They’re good kids and they’re busting their tails, but it was a position we felt we really couldn’t afford that type of an injury. I have to get with Ron [Courson] to find out exactly what’s going on with Tree. Gates leaving was not good for Georgia and not good for Gates. But Dallas [Lee] was a guy we felt comfortable could go in there and play guard. I’ll have to watch the filmto see how he did.

“As a coach you don’t want anybody to get hurt, but at certain spots you feel like you might could take a hit and be OK. The linebacker position was one we weren’t too thrilled about losing anybody and, of course, we lost Alec.”

Q: Did you think your team was too hyped up?

A: “I thought both teams were a little overly excited early on and made some mistakes. But I thought everybody settled down relatively quick.”

Q: Did you think poor field position cost you?

A: “We were in a bind. We decided to take the ball first and didn’t get much going. Maybe we were too excited or whatever you want to say and then we were a little backed up. But then we had the long touchdown by [Brandon] Boykin and then we were back to normal field position after that. So it didn’t really cost us.”

Q: Why did you not kick the field goal on the fourth-and-one you got stopped?

A: “I decided to go for it. I did that because I felt like we could get one yard. I also felt like more than likely touchdowns wwere going to be needed to win the game. I know we’ve got a great field goal kicker and he could’ve made that one. Maybe in hindsight we should have kicked. If I had known we were going to get stuffed I would have kicked the field goal at that time.”

Q: How big of a momentum changer was it for Boise State to score at the end of the fist half and the beginning of the second?

A: “It was big. They got a two possession lead. But as early as it was in the second half, it wasn’t like everybody was in panic mode or anything like that.”

Q: How did you think Isaiah Crowell and Malcolm Mitchell did in their first games?

A: “I think both of them did well. I think Isaiah, I’ll have to watch the film, but my guess is he got about as much as he could get out of what he had to deal with. Of course Malcolm made a couple of nice plays. He had the reverse and three catches and a touchdown. He’s a good football player. Those guys got a bright future.”

Q: How do you team get your team up off the mat and motivated after putting so much into this first game?

A: “I was encouraged by the reaction of our seniors especailluy in the locker room afterwards. They were encouraging everybody to get to work. Southeastern Conference play hasn’t even started and it’s a long season. We’;ve got to get our minds right. After a game like this, there’s no question we know more about our team than if we had played somebody we might’ve beaten by 40. So hopefully that will translate into us having a better idea of how to play these types of games and help us see where our weaknesses are.”

The fact that Bobo kept running the ball up the middle on 1st and 2nd for short gains mixed in with penalties made 3rd down VERY predictable so no wonder Murray got sacked mostly on 3rd down. Lack of discipline and creative play-calling.

On a side note, we need to seriously work on this soft zone we had going on in the second half. All they did were throw short passes and get extra yards bc the nearest linebacker or safety was like 20 feet away. And how in the hell did our 350 pounders not get penetration?! God, I’m frustrated!

The most disappointing part is that it was apparent that we had the superior athletes. The quick strikes proved that. We just don’t know how to sustain drives and use our talent to our advantage. That’s on the coaches.

Im just wondering how good is Boise? If the number five team in the nation beat GA like that and their name was Bama, Oklahoma, etc….what would we think? GA is not a top five team and if the other team is….wouldnt you expect that they would lose by fourteen????.Was hoping Boise wasn’t the real deal….but they looked pretty dang good. Definitely some places to improve….but I saw some positives as well. I think this team has the potential to be good by season end…and next year be very good.

Then again, they could fire Richt (for someone not much better) and send the whole thing packing.

Id like to see support at least thru the UT game….if it still looks bad then….then fire em all.

cmon people, u have to realize that talent and potential is only 10% of the game. There has to be solid coaching and solid gameplans to win in this game. UGA was simply outcoached and i think its time Bobo was replaced. His play calling has become way too vanilla, lol

I hope the best for coach richt but it’s time for a change! What’s the point of winning the sec if you lost to Boise? Their is no pride their we still looked week out of shape and poorly coached. Bobo never changed any play calling ran the no huddle and kept going three and out and when Boise is running the no huddle our deffense got tiered and could not play. We don’t have the depth at to many positions to get run down that way.

dont blame UGA’s defense. They got shredded by a heisman candidate. Moore has been doing that to teams for 3yrs now. He’s done that to some great teams. Grantham and the “D” isnt the problem. Bobo has become way too predictable. run 1st, run 2nd, throw 3rd. the play calling was comical

Bobo has got to Go-Go! I’ve been wanting him fired for a few years now. He’s predictable. He’s boring. And some of his play decisions simply defy logic. End runs or up the middle on a 3rd and long – over and over again after it hasn’t worked all game. Really? I love Coach Richt but honestly! He should’ve fired Bozo when he let Willie Martinez go. And that decision was at least a year overdue! I was really fired up for this season and thought we had turned a corner. And maybe we have. But what bothers me isn’t just that we lost, but HOW we lost. This is what feels all too familiar and it dosen’t feel good.

Offense- Isiah Crowell needs to improve on his pass protection. #71 needs to quit giving us silly penalties.
Offensive line needs to improve on pass protection and assignments and most certainly get tougher with opening up holes.

It was even amazing if any back could get yardage with the way our OL played. BS was pretty damn tough and they were no push overs. So its not even fair to rate any of our RB’s with a top tier defense like Boise.

Richard Samuel played very good, Isiah did exceptionally well running the ball, Marlon Brown needs to step up and get more passes, Orson Charles was phenominal, #12 dropped alot of passes, Aaron Murray held the ball too long and over threw recievers, Malcome Mitchell cant wait n see how this kid developes,
OL is outta shape severly and has got to get tougher mentally.

Special Teams- Boykin had a great afternoon, Brannen Smith one of my favorite players made some bad tackles and seemed too scared to tackle. I also think that the players had to get use to the artificial turf.

Defense- I thought they played very well as a group. I hated the zone and thought we should have played some man to man and blitz alot more. Im not a coach but i wouldve blitz up the middle and/or from BS QB’s throwing side.

Why man-to-man? BS best recievers graduated to the NFL and their heisman hopeful threw to 9 different players, so he didnt have a favorite one to throw to and this wouldve been a great opportunity for Georgia to blitz and play man-to-man and confuse the QB.

Hey their running game didnt beat us, their Heisman threw short passes all nite long and yeah theyre were times their RB’s got a few breaks andf gained alot of yards but this QB played like Tebbo did at Florida.

Our offense had alot of 3 n outs and infact didnt get a 1st down til the 3rd quarter and that kept our defense out on the field alot. I saw alot of talent from our corners, LB’s and DE saturday but after while anybody gets tired if your offense isnt out on the field alot.

Establish the running game 1st. georgia and this will give the defense time to rest because it takes only a few seconds to throw the ball and it can come back n haunt ya with a no-huddle offense because your defense isnt getting enough time to rest.

I would just think about that when youre calling plays in the future. We needed to call more miss-direction plays on Boise and dump passes or screens because they were penetrating and teeing off.

Mike Bobo yet again does not know how to make adjustments during a game but even a blind man could see this, slow down the rush with screens (like they did with us) and that slows their rush down and dont do any draw plays if they are penetrating our lines.

Aaron Murray needs to get rid of the ball alot quicker and he had 3 opportunities to take off with the ball which i think he couldve had huge gains. Are they telling Aaron not to run with the ball?

I see there are basic concepts in a football game.
A. What do you do to slow down the rush by their defensive line?
B. How do you put pressure on a QB that primarily passes in a game?
C. Do you call passing plays toward their freshmen DB and expose their weaknesses?
D. How do you slow down a football team that produces alot of points?
E. Is Zone better or Man-to Man or do you Blitz more?
F. How do you combat a no-huddle offense?

These are questions that Georgia needs to address but i think that some of their coaches dont recognize their talent and arent utilizing them according to their gifts or their limitations. Adjustments are made because watever isnt working then youve got to find what will work and Georgia didnt.

If Crowell cant block then put another RB in the backfield to help or dont use him if youre gonna pass. If you arent having success running up the middle then try going outside or do more trap plays or more screens or mis-direction plays.

If they have a QB thats left handed put pressure on his throwing side and remember that most of his passes are in the middle of the field or his throwing side. Disguise your Defense more! When they are running a no-huddle offense put your defensive reserves on-the-ready at the sideline so that as soon as the play is over they can rush out onto the field.

You people screaming fire bobo are delusional. The pollyanna loving richt crowd needs to wake up because the assitant firing has run it’s course. Richt is going to get the ax this time!!!!!

And you people calling crowell a bust are way premature. I thought he look pretty good considering he was playing on the worst offense in america. The offensive line cannot block and the play calling is idiotic. I think crowell will be fine once Kirby gets a good playcaller in here next year.

If Richt does not immediately fire Bobo, then he needs to go. Bobo’s play calling seems to put Murray in desperate third down situations. I truly believe that if we had Boise States OC the outcome would have been different. Georgia clearly has the talent.

Boise is a hell of a team. That being said, UGA was out-schemed, out-coached and we got our butts kicked on both lines of scrimmage. Why do we try to run so much out of the shotgun. Second half, after Boise score we blow down he field in four plays in the “I”, then start running shotgun and go backwards. When we were winning under Richt he was OC and our lines were much stronger.

RMikel58

Next week South Carolina- Whether we like them or not this S. Carolina team is better than last years team and here they come.

They have a more balanced offense with both a running game and passing game. They are no fluke !
Georgia has got to do more disguises on Defense because Garcia is a smart QB and cant be fooled easily and we cant take their running game lightly.

This is where i think our LB’s will have the biggest test. If they blitz up the middle then Lattimore gets thru the 1st tier of our Defense, he will have a big game and this where the nose guard will be important.
We should only do corner blitzes and not LB’s for this reason.

I’d play man to man with Boykin and Smith then focus on stopping the run 1st. Put pressure on Garcia with corner blitzing and occassionally a safety blitz. When Garcia looks the Defense over he knows which play to run but if we disguise it then it will keep him guessing.

I think Georgia has gotten better with the front 4 and liked what i saw in the Boise State game. But they didnt have a Lattimore playing either so we’ll see, it’ll be a good test .

I wouldnt just jump off the train just yet Georgia fans, though the train seems destined to crash and come off the tracks, we’re still on the tracks without a conductor and hopefully we’ll find one soon.

Oh Nooo! We Su*ck AGAIN!!!

First, hats off to the Boise coaching staff for their game plan and their players execution they did an outstanding job.

I’ve been a supporter of CMR but I’m EXTREMELY disapointed in the team’s performance. Losing Tree was a huge swing, however I’m not going to put this loss on the D, as we should have been prepared for a shootout against one of the greatest QBs in college history, but our coaching plan/adjustments were horrible.

Coaching gaffe 1.
Boise staff neutralizes the PR game by rugby style punting to give the coverage team time to get down field. Brilliant.
UGA Staff response – stay in punt protection
What the reponse SHOULD have been- Ok, you want to take 6-7 seconds to punt the ball, then we’re going to sellout on the block and bring everybody!

Coaching gaffe 2. The Offense played right into the strength of the Boise D. Once AGAIN Bobo miss uses his talent on offense. Time and time again we ran right up the middle for modest gains at best. It was obvious on 3 occassions that Boise’s lateral speed was lacking. The Boykin reverse, the Mitchell reverse and one of Crowell’s few runs that was bounced to the outside.
What Bobo SHOULD have done- TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR SPEED!!!! All we heard all summer long was how M.Mitchell was getting behind defenders. Why did we wait until the END of the game to take advantage of this. Also, why didn’t we do some of the toss sweeps that we heard were so effective in practices? Why hasn’t CMR and Bobo figured out that AM is most effective when he’s rolling out? Why didn’t we put the Boise D off balance by letting AM run? Why didn’t we get the ball to the RBs in SPACE?

Bottom line- the COACHES let the PLAYERS down with yet another p*ss poor game plan.

@ red&black we have BCS caliber TALENT we don’t have BCS caliber COACHING.

Other teams find replacements, Saban for Shula,Spurrier for Holtz,Chizik for Tuberville, etc.Georgia has been going backwards for several years now. So take your kumbaya bs somewhere else along with your kumbaya HC and his OC with him. Can’t really fault the DC when you keep putting a potent Boise St offense in great field position because of the our offense’s ineptitude.

I hate to say it but this team so far looks just like last year the o-line looks worse they couldn’t block anyone. Complaining about the play calling is crazy, nothing will work if you can’t block the man in front of you. AM had no time to throw it and the backs had no running lanes. The defese still can’t wrap up. However I will still always support my team and it is early and we are known for not coming out strong to start the season. Everyone needs to quit talking about firing BoBo we would not see a change from that if there is a coaching move to be made it needs to be the head man Im not calling for that but if he can’t get it done this season then I don’t think he ever will. We will just have to wait and see who knows maybe Boise is just that good, its to early to judge how we will do this season. Im just not feeling the confidence I was before kick off.

Bottom line is if something’s not working… if a nail can’t be hammered in you pull it out. My playcalling is not working out, I call two between the tackles runs for 3 or 4 yards and then pass on 3rd and long because of another motion penalty or some other stupid mistake. The defense knows the pass is coming on 3rd and long and they defend it well and we have to throw the ball away (or throw a pick) because our receivers can’t get separation. I don’t know what else to do…this is clearly not working out. Firing Martinez wasn’t going far enough, let’s wade through another abysmal season and offer the job to Kirby Smart.

Are you KIDDING? Your superior athletes got beat on both the OL and DL…. Your gigantic size difference, and all those 5 stars didn’t mean squat! I must admit, I was wrong as I picked you to roll over this Mountain West team… I couldn’t believe that coaching makes that big a difference…. Their coaches had this team prepared to play, your guys didn’t even look like they were in shape…. BoiseDawg, I take nothing away from them, they are good, Peterson has done a great job with that team, and they did us a favor, as Richt pointed out — they showed exactly where we need improvement to compete.

Unfortunately, it is preparation, coaching, blocking, pass rush and lack of depth on O-line and linebacker, and ain’t nothing we can do about that in one week. I pray Spurrier has messed with Garcia’s head enough the last couple of weeks he makes mistakes like the old Garcia. Otherwise, with no blocking and no pass rush kiss going back to the Dome in December goodbye.

What has precipitated the fall of the once mighty Dawgs…one word, two syllables….Bobo. UGA’s record under CMR prior to Bozo’s play calling…61-17, since the Bozo show came to town…35-18. Thats 26 additional wins with 1 less loss. The numbers speak for themselves. Richt should send a sign to the Dawg nation and can Bozo or demote him back to QB coach. Bobo is a nice guy, he’s just not a OC. Go back to calling the plays yourself CMR, you were good at it!

This game was way too big for UGA. The play calling was terrible. Run up the middle and throw deep. Mike Bobo could learn a lot from Boise’s throw it short and get YAC passing game. Is Richt all there? He talks about a lack of depth at linebacker as if the problem came out of nowhere. He does realize that he and Grantham “ran off” two of the more promising linebackers on the team in Marcus Dowtin and Nick Williams. Two runner-hitters who could really get after it. It’s ok though because Richt has ” a peace” about it. Your offensive line is physically imposing but they can’t play physically because there aren’t enough of them to conduct a full bore scrimmage! No wonder they closed practices to reporters during the preseason. They were probable playing two hand touch! All of this are symptoms of a larger disease. It’s called a lack of work ethic and it’s contagious throughout your entire coaching staff, starting with the fake tan preacher man. McGarity needs to clean house and soon. Then all you Dawg fans can have a “peace about it”

Hold on now. You don’t get to play the “We lost to a very good team” card and then continue to claim that Boise State doesn’t deserve a shot at the BCS Championship game over a 1 or 2 loss SEC team because “the competition is better in the SEC so they’re not really that good”.

Maybe what this means is that Boise has been screwed over TWICE in the last 5 years when they were undefeated and didn’t get their shot. Both times, they killed their BCS opponent and you SEC homers claimed that it was an anomaly. Hopefully now the national media will start to give these guys the press they deserve and not claim their schedule is too easy. The real truth seems to be that nobody wants to play these guys because they’re pretty damn good.

* The NCAA needs to crack down on the long hair that is woven into a rope preventing the helmet from staying on the players head. I look at Richt especially to identify this issue and require a player to maintain hair length and thickness to wear their helmet correctly.

* It is sad that Richt recruits all of these 4 and 5 star players and gets spanked by BS who recruits average players at best. It isn’t until the BS coaches develop these kids and coach them up that theys perform so well.

* Richt and staff did NOT win the coaching battle. The Dawgs were spanked by BS!

As I said in a previous post – Boise was the more experienced team and the better team. The key word being TEAM. Ours has not gelled yet. Boise has 25 seniors and 18 are 5 year lettermen. They have a lot of time together. Having said that – if Coach Richt said that they were stunting to get to Murray, why didn’t we make an adjustment to counter that both on the line and the O plan? Or does this mean that all of the teams we are going to play are now going to look at the film and stunt and we will be uinable to do anything about it and therefore we will look like this every week? Murray and the RB’s had no chance – the line play stunk. We got to Moore once or twice but otherwise HIS protection was great. Almost any QB can gouge you if he has time to eat lunch in the pocket. Still, and I hate to say this as I have not really felt this before – we had 8 MONTHS to plan and scheme for this game and the best we could do is look good on a few scattered plays here and there – we had absoulutely no consistency in either offense or defensive line play. That is coaching. I love Mark Richt – I would like for him to PROVE the game has not passed him by but this slide into mediocrity just keeps on coming and that is his responsibility. It’s upsetting. He’s right about one thing – as much as this loss hurts it does show what we need to work on AND the SEC schedule has not yet begun. Having said THAT – I don’t see how this team will beat a good SC team next week. C’ mon coach – get it together………….PLEASE

Agreed. With a mismatch gem like Orson Charles, we can use quick slants in the seam of the zone (like Boise did) to play ball control, make the run more effective and keep opposing offense off the field. (And I do not mean those damn tunnel screens in traffic, I mean a three step drop/seven yard in-route with the ball thrown before the trailing safety or ‘backer can get help.) Unfortunately, tradition, uniforms, ex greats on the sideline, “homefield”, and other factors don’t mean anything to a smart, motivated, well-coached opponent. They went about their business in a reserved, workmanlike fashion and took our beloved Dawgs apart piece by piece. Georgia players, coaches, and fans could learn a lot from them, if they would, and start to turn this program around. I hate to say it, but Spurrier, and I hate him, is ten times smarter than all the Georgia coaches put together, and he will pick Georgia apart as a “gameday coach” next Saturday unless the Dawgs learn to block and tackle this week.

o-line was dominated, as was the d-line.. all that size didnt matter… considering the point of attack is where you have to win to compete, dawgs looked weak. offense sputtered, as the run was never established. murray looked great on some plays, and the horrible when the line caved in. UGA needs a win against carolina to keep richt’s job.. otherwise, going into miss st. 0-2 would for certain have mcgarity looking for coaches at yrs end.

Well….truth is…..Boise is now the 4th rated team in the country. THe Dawgs WERE the 19th rated team in the country. They were better. They were better coached. They won. You lost. The Dawgs better win next week….or all of you will jump off the bridge.

P.S. The Swamp was hot last night….and Florida Atlantic is not very good…..but….I can tell you this…..Florida under Muschamp is highly improved and extremely well coached. I have always defended Richt. I don’t think I will any more. While I don’t necessarily blame him for our pathetic offensive playcalling or the fact that our defense looked like a high school team against Keller, he is the boss of the OC and DC. Bobo should be long gone by now. His playcalling is really, really bad and predictable. As for the defense, not sure what to do there. I know we had injuries, but whatever. I am very, very disappointed in the way this season has started.

Not too many positives to take away from this. All of the questions coming into the season remain. Poor S&C as the defense was gassed early in the game. Weak o-line and no pass rush. No running game even though you outweighed their front 7 by about 30-40 pounds per man.
Richt must rally the troops this week or SC will hang a number of you between the hedges.

Ok now I hope go 4-8 so that we can hit rock bottom and fire this entire coaching staff. This has got to stop! If this is what this team is going to do week in and week out, then just go ahead and bottom out.Serves our fan base right. This is what happens when we don’t demand more and make changes when they NEED to be made. This program is completely rotten. McGarity needs to clean house of anything even remotely related to Mark Richt and start over. It’s the only way we’re going to get better.Richt was the right fit for us at one point, but those days are long gone. A new start is what this program desperately needs.

All you Bobo haters, that’s just an excuse hiding the REAL issue, which is Richt.

Green Bay ran 5 different plays in the 60s and won 5 or so championships.

It’s not PLAYCALLING. It is EXECUTION.

Heck, Boise St. ran about 5 diff plays in the second half and we were helpless. We could not cover a 5-yard hook pass. Time and time again.

Really, people, get a clue. Playcalling is largely irrelevant. Some teams script the first 15 plays and run them regardless of down and distance. And those teams have had success. Witness the 49′ers of the 80s-90s.

So get off the “FIRE BOBO” bandwagon and get on the “FIRE RICHT” bandwagon. Richt is the man who is not coaching these boys, and demanding his staff coach them, to EXECUTE.

EXECUTE.

EXECUTE.

EXECUTE.

That is how you win games. You can have a 5-play playbook, and if you EXECUTE, you win.

It’s just that simple.

This game was about coaching ! The 4th down play was the right call, but where was our tightend going ? He should have blocked that guy ! Instead we lose an importnat scoring chance. The problem with our offense is that it is slow starting. We get behind and before you know it the game is so far out of reach, that we don’t have a chance. Is Aaron Murray our quarterback ? He was off big time, course he had to run for his life. Whatever happened to short passes to our great athletes ! Really really confused.

Richard Dawson – agree with your comments. The real problem is line play on both sides of the ball. Our running game was a joke and Murray was throwing on his back, while their QB had all day. Got really tired of all the hype about how big our OL is, when they got their a$$ handed to them. Not a huge Bobo fan, but play calling does not matter when you cannot control the line.

That little GSU team you’ve got is very exciting to watch and I have to say folks with no disrespect, their fans are far and away the nicest bunch I’ve ever been around. One or two plays that make the difference. Orson Charles misses the block on the 4th and 1. His man makes the tackle. Defense fails to read see the change in QB to the running QB and sucks for the fake as the ball goes around end for 11 yards. I am not a coach, or any kind of expert but it appears that the spread offense for UGA was just what we needed against the big bruising line of Boise. Why then do we line up our standard formation, of which they have had the 8 month preparation? WHy can’t recievers catch balls that hit them in the hands? I don’t ever remember sesing Champ Bailey get faked out at the goal line like our kid did tonight. That was the corener, where was the safet? There is no doubt that UGA has a good team. Keep this in mind, at least when RIcht was calling the plays we beat people.

Fire Bobo? I’m not so sure that it was the play calling..eg “run on 1st and 2nd down and pass on 3rd…” Yep, if you only get 1 or 2 yards running it and end up 3rd and long, it’s a passing down. That’s fundamental, so not necessarily CMB. We are supposed to run the ball; in the SEC you have to be able to run the ball. So, yes, we run on 1st and 2nd downs (heck, if you have a running game you run on any down; or run play-action). Admittedly, I’m not sure where he got that formation…with the RB standing next to the QB; as opposed to our usual Power I. We just had way too many 3rd and longs…and Muray just wasn’t as sharp as we thought he’d be (not getting rid of the ball/taking sacks, accuracy).

I was disappointed mostly in the team just not seeming to be ready to play and the D getting gassed in the 3rd qtr. They did seem ok in the 4th. We come out and can’t do diddlee on our first possession; just looked totally unprepared; off sides, procedure, time out. When we elected to receive the first kickoff, I wondered if CMR knew something I didn’t; I thought he’d realize we needed to start on D and let the O get settled down, especially with Samuel, Crowell, and Figgins in the backfield. But it ends up the vaunted O line just aint what it should be.

How ’bout those “beasts” on the D line we salivated over all summer (Geathers and Jenkins)? We just could not stop BS’s offense. Is the 3-4 just not suited for D1 football…or is it Grantham and the other coaches not coachin’ em up? Losing Tree was costly. Still…

I don’t know if it was play-calling so much as the team just not looking prepared. I guess they were “poised” enough, but just too many mistakes, blown calls, sacks, hurries, time outs, dropped passes….

Too many of y’all are ready to toss in the towel over the first game of a long season. We just lost to the #5 ranked team in the country; a loss that was kinda expected about everywhere except Dawg Nation. Yes, BS is that good. My hat’s off to em.

Now, it’s time to get ready for SC. Find a way to get to Garcia and hopefully slow down Lattimore. And, look prepared and ready to play.

We truly suck. Bobo does less with more than any coach on earth. I’ll come back and watch UGA football when Bobo is coaching where he belongs – high school.

Honest question for fellow Dawgs – why does Bobo have a 5″ thick playbook when we can’t even execute 5 plays? We would be better served if we had 5 plays the worked rather than 500 that don’t.

If this is Georgia being on the “Cutting Edge” of football and football strategies, then I want to go back to the 80’s. Bobo clearly cannot read the defense from the booth and call the play in. He is marginalizing Aaron Murray’s potential to read defenses and make his own adjustments. Huddle up, call a play or two plays, then audible if necessary. Bobo is not capable of running this style of offense. I don’t like the players looking to the sideline for a play call. He may be going no huddle, but the play calling is the same. Two runs up the middle for short yardage then pass on third down. Samuel doesn’t know what left and right is. Did not see any three tight end sets. The best run came on a sweep with Figgins as the lead blocker. Should have done that some more to get Crowell on the edge. O-Line is actually too big which makes them slow. Murray is far from becoming an elite QB. He may set a lot of records like Zier, but doesn’t look like he can win the big one. He seems to get nervous if tight situations. Tavares King made caught his share of deep balls last year. Looks like he replaced his hands bricks last night.

Two years ago Bob called plays for Joe Cox like he had Stafford’s arm. Now his is calling plays for Murray like AJ is still catching the ball.

Charles is a stud. Malcom Mitchell was impressive. Crowell will not be able to run up middle with this o line, so they better figure out how to ge thim to the edge quickly. Need to run out of the pistol formation. Our line is too slow for these delayed draws left and right. Need more screens too.

BoBo is supid(yeah he is a coach not me, but look at film it doesnt take a genuis to see this) That offense should easily score 35 pints every night… final word, i still believe in this team, its only 1 game, but our team was out coached last night and this is becoming a 5 year trend. Since Ogletree is hurt, does that mean this genuis staff will move Samuel back to LB? How in the world can you have a 3-4 and not have enough players to cover the positions? Were there not enough recruits in the country that could have stepped in and started and you could have told on or two of them that? That is an issue. How did we get here? Mark Richt got out coached by Chris Petersen (my choice to replace Mark last year)
Mark is a great guy if you need a 5th for Bible Study but he needs to take some time off and focus on his ministry. He doesn’t have the heart for SEC in the trenches / take no prisoners Football…look at Nick Sabin, Les Miles, Steve Spurier…other teams love to hate those guys..you can’t get a lukewarm response from anybody about Richt. My point is if you think the guy is going to get ahead and keep his foot on the peddle you fear him…nobody fears a Mark Richt team..he gets 2 touchdowns up and puts in the scrubs until the other teams back in the game…He should have fired BoBo 2 years ago …. it must be his ministry to let this guy keep coaching because he couldn’t coach a 3A High school team in Florida with that predictable excuse for an offensive scheme. The old school SEC… (here’s where I’m going, see if you can stop me) is 5 years obsolete and so is Richt…I guess we will have to suck through another laughingstock 6-7 year… and I would rather not go to a bowl than get our hats handed to us by a MAC team on Dec 1st in the Toilet Bowl …AGAIN!!

My brother lives in Gainesville and stayed home last night to watch both the Georgia and Florida games. He grew up in Georgia as well and likes Georgia as his second favorite team as well. His comment: “Richt shows no emotion on the sidelines and looks like he does not know what to do on the sidelines during a game to fix problems.” Obviously, neither do his assistants. He also said Georgia’s OL and DL looked slow with no quickess, and that Georgia tackled poorly and looked constantly confused on the field”…….and that reflects a lack of coaching. On the other side….Florida looked extremely quick on both sides of the ball last night….well prepared…..and excecuted extremely well…..and both Muschamp and Weis were doing a lot of in-game coaching on the sidelines last night.

This Dawg won’t say the season is over but I have zero hope that these coaches will change a thing, they had all off season to do that and absolutely nothing changed. Same weak game plan, same weak performance. Both sides of the ball.

After watching this show for the last few years, the first indication that it was business as usual was the first running play of the night, the dreaded play action hand off, up the middle, you know the one where the back has absolutely no momentum to carry into the line, or the defenders for a two yard gain. I looked at my wife and told her at that point, sos. As far as football goes, just so disappointing. Looking around the dome, at all the faces of those who were so hopeful told the story. Just a lot of people with blank looks on their faces, shaking their heads. I had really hoped we would come out and try to establish a “power” running game. How many toss sweeps did we run with Figgins leading the way? Screen passes? Quick slants over the middle? Shovel passes? What are we paying Bobo and Richt for?

Congratulations Boise, maybe this will be your year. Me, I will be spending a lot of time this fall outside with my four year old, my grandson, and family. I’ve seen enough of football already. Mark Richt, pack your bags and leave quietly, your time is done as far as I’m concerned.

Yea again I know its one game and I’ll be honest with you had we come up with different offensive schemes and made some adjusments on the D I would be more optimistic but I will give you a prediction

Lose next week and we lose to Miss St, FL, Tech possibly and Im going on a limb an saying we will lose to Tenn and maybe KY

Im not ready just yet to give up on Grantham frankly because Bozo’s sorry play calling gives the defense about 30 seconds to rest before they go back on the field and a tired D does us no good

Here is a stat

Boise was 4-12 on 3rd down conversion 0-5 in the 1st half that tells me there is improvement over last year. We just tired out as the game went on because the offense cant stay on the field

Funny how I kept saying ALL offseason (since the UCF game) that Richt needs to go. And all of you Richt apologists kept calling me crazy.

How many national embarrassments do we need to convince us?

And I know, I know…Boise State is actually a good team. I knew that. Somehow all of you, and the Dawgs themselves, didn’t know that.

I’m not mad that we lost. I’m mad because we got our tails whipped. Nevermind the final score. We were never in that game. We could not establish a drive. The only scores came on fluke plays.

Our team relies on emotion. They are not being coached by anyone with a clue.

Mark Richt is a pitiful coach. If this had been Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban they would have come out and said: “We got our butts kicked on both sides of the ball, this is not what name your team Football is all about. We looked confused, we got beat on both lines of scrimmage, our defensive lineman stood up on the snap and got pushed around. Our offensive linemen got pushed around. Our team conditioning was not as good as we as coaches thought it was. We missed a ton of assignments, and certain players were trying to make big plays when all they had to do was their assignments. This loss is unacceptable and as coaches we are the ones to blame. We came up with the game plan, we made the decisions to play certain players over others and we did not adjust to what Boise was doing during the course of the game. Starting today and a practice on Monday every position on both sides of the ball are open to the players who EARN it and show they have a full concept of how to play an entire game under control and within our system. I want to apologize to our fans and if we cannot make some major improvements in the next few weeks, I will walk into our AD’s office and offer my resignation. Have a good night, I have a great deal of work to do and I need to get busy”.

@Mobile Dawg, when I read a month ago that Mike Bobo had started studying film of Boise shortly after the last season ended, I was hopeful. I thought he might have had some inspiration.

Now, I think he just wastes his time looking at film. He does the same thing regardless. I have not been a big critic of Bobo, even though I thought his calls after his first season of play calling, were predictable and ineffective, but now, I just think he isn’t capable. Maybe, Richt isn’t either. They should find some hotshot upstart coach and bring him in to assist Bobo and to make the playcalls. Maybe, they could salvage something.

Crowell tip-toed to the line and wanted to accelerate once he saw daylight. That’s fine in high school, but in big-boy college football you have to explode THROUGH the D-line. You will rarely see daylight.

I don’t want to bash Crowell here, because he’s just a kid…Richt is to blame because he’s the one who put him in the situation of being the savior at running back in HIS FIRST EVER GAME.

The problem starts at the top. Anybody who still thinks Mark Richt can get it back together is deluding themselves. And you know what? I’m not even going to get upset about it. There are plenty of coaches out there who can win big at Georgia. And we’ll find one. For awhile there, I thought Richt was the guy…but he doesn’t want this job anymore. He hasn’t been with us mentally for at least three years now. And I hope that whatever is going on in his life that has caused him to crash a once promising coaching career into the ground at warp speed can get resolved. He’s a good man. But his coaching days are over…and it’s time somebody lets him know. Fortunately, this season looks to be so bad that he’s making the decision easy for everyone. There won’t be any fighting among the faithful. It’s over. Everybody knows it now.

GEORGIA IS CLEARLY NOT GOOD, and it’s obvious folks that we need some major changes in this offense, this defense, this team! Aaron Murray isn’t that good, and I think it needs to be said. He holds the ball to long, locks in on Charles when the play isn’t there, and never looks to dump down to the RB’s. Lets be honest come next year Mark Richt gonna have a Dilemma of Him or Lemay, and honestly the Mason kid can play to, but he’s gonna do to them what he did to D.J. Shockley and hold on as long as possible (note to coach: You haven’t got as much talent as David Green had around him) to Murray.and cause your team to lose big time talent sitting on the sidelines.Coach have I said this? “BOBO can’t play call” let me say this again Coach, “BOBO can’t play call, and needs to be fired or moved to a position coaches spot Let me remind the Bulldawg faithful what you had on the field last night just so you know your coaches suck: QB:A MURRAY #3ranked QB in the nation coming outta Fla, CROWELL #1 RB, CHARLES #2TE (Oh did I mention #1 in the same year. What I saw last night was zero toughness, the usual Bobo 5 play offensive playbook, same old lack of discipline (3 penalties on the first drive? That’s just sad) and no endurance. I really can’t believe how soft the team looked last night, they were getting pushed around by smaller guys at every position all night long. Erk is rolling in his grave I’m sure to see the soft little girl pansies this team has become the last 3-4 years. Maybe they should all quit football and go for ballet scholarships or something. Maybe we should just let the cheerleaders play, I bet they’re tougher than the softy soft team we saw out there last night.

Trying really hard to realize that it was just one game against a really good team but I just didn’t see anything last night to make me think anything has changed or is going to change or be better than last year. We are without a doubt way too soft to compete in the SEC.

I am a d line coach at a small college and i use to do speed and agility training for high school, college, and professional athletes of all sports but mainly football and most of my business was with high school athletes. I have athletes at Bama, GT, UCONN, FL, Miami and other small colleges across the southeast. In training these guys i have got to be part of the recruiting process with them so i have met pieces of every coaching staff in the SEC. I am telling you in the coaching circles in the SEC the UGA coaching staff is a joke. I am coaching now but i keep up with all the kids i have trained and being a speed and agility coach i always ask the guys about the S&C program at their university. One of the first kids i ever worked with that made it to a SEC program is starting at BAMA now for his second yr on the Oline. I like to compare his S&C program to some guys i know at UGA and I am telling you now Our S&C program is not any better than it was. I have a degree in kinesiology and i am certified through NSCA with a CSCS so i know a little bit about what i am talking about and i dont understand how you hire someone at the college level with no type of prior experience in S&C. AT this level you have to know the science behind what you are doing and i feel like our S&C staff does not. You bring in former athletes to assist that is fine if they are qualified for that position just bc Thomas Brown can lift a ton of wt does not mean he knows how to design a program. Usually the best S&C coaches are nerds about lifting they know everything they are not ex athletes they are people who are in love with lifting and all the science that surrounds it. We were cramping last night in the dome. We were tired in the second quarter. Boise was not. All i heard all summer was how hard the workouts were and that worried me. Anyone can make a workout hard anyone off the streets can make someone throw up. Does what you do in the gym produce results on the field. Whenever i am training someone on the forty yard dash they should leave the workout wanting more not exhausted and unable to move. This way their body recovers and the CNS is not shot so your body performs the lifts at 100% so that is transfers to 100% on the field. It sounds like we were doing some kind of beach body workout. I am not saying they should never get pushed to the limit they should but from reports every workout was brutal and we looked tired befor the game even got going good. Sorry for the rant but our program is headed downhill fast picking up speed. I hate our coaches sideline demeanor and we never maked adjustments i would love to coach against UGA. They never adjust to what you are doing never

Got to love the folks wanting to blame the Murray kid for the loss. In actuality did anyone count the number of balls dropped by reciever? Murray got hit so many times as the was throwing the ball or had to adjust the throw to avoid an oncoming rusher and the ball sailed.

This has more to do with the play calling and game plan. I wish someone would watch the FSU game and their game plan or the MSU game plan. Those two teams were pitiful 3 years ago. In less than 2 years they are spreading the field, have power runners to compliment their scat backs, use their tight ends and create space.

We were getting a lot of crap but I remember there were some cool Tennessee fans (I know, imagine that) telling me how frustrated they were getting with Tennessee’s 5 play offensive playbook. They were saying it was either run up the middle, off tackle right, off tackle left, screen pass or play action deep bomb. It appears the Dawgs have that same playbook but with 3 less plays. There was a few random other plays but I saw way too much run up the middle and deep pass last night. Lot of talk about Bobo. Richt has, or course not chosen the best coordinators in the world. But then look at what Richt is as a coach? Any wonder? But this “fifth choice” Grantham, has coached like a fifth choice after-thought desperation move by Richt. Uhmmm, wonder why Smart, Chasin, Foster, et.al., turned Richt down to be the D.C.?

Bigger question is why would, Ray Drew, Isaiah Crowell, John Jenkins, Malcolm Mitchel, et. al. sign with Richt? Anyone ever noticed how UGA recruits are super high school and later great pros, but sleep walk while under Richt and the greats Grantham and Bobo and Martinez (while there)?
I have a lightbulb idea. Duhh, could it be because these coaches know in their own minds they are inept and clueless, but are just hoping these good recruiting classes can win for them anyway?
Fact so many ex-UGA players are good pros proves its not that they were not good recruits.
Which still doesn’t explain why they would sign with Richt and go down with his ship.

Another, depessing thought, what if the UGA search committee does its usual, Goff, Donnan, Richt job of selecting Richt’s successor? Any reason to optimistically believe it will be better? Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Florida search committees could, hint, hint be consulted to see how they did it

From the big perspective, Boise St. played up to their preseason assessments, both team and individual. The smaller DL was quicker than Georgia’ OL, they ran some twists and stunts that pretty much nullified the power running game and they cashed in for 6 sacks (at least 3 were coverage sacks, I think.)

I was watching the line play, and a few of them were telling. Boise State’s 5-11 center consistently got under the pads of the NT, which meant they didn’t need to double team him all the time. Two back-to-back plays stood out in that regard: Boise St. had the ball around their 20 on 1st down. The Broncos ran a running play off the left guard. The center stood Geathers up in his tracks and he was on his heels, unable to get any push. The RB went right by him and followed the left guard’s block on the LB for 6 or 7 yards. The next play, Moore dropped back to pass, and immediately the center cut Geathers at the ankles, dropping him flat, right on the line of scrimmage; no push at all in the middle of the field. Moore completed the pass for over 10 yards.

Another play late in the game: Boise St. pulled their guards to the left side, Potter blocked his DE, and that 2-guard escort led the RB to a critical big gain. Georgia’s OL players may have been relatively fast, although that wasn’t displayed during the game. Their quickness was not evident. Boise’s OL was quick, and their trap plays were effective. Their DL was also quick, got off blocks and held the line, taking away the inside running game.

First of all I’ve had enough of Touchdown Jesus and his regime.Having been in this league longer than most of his fellow coaches, UGA should be a lot better than they have been under CMR. Les Myles wins a NC. Myer comes to the SEC and wins a couple of NCs. Saban wins a NC and Chizik comes in and wins a NC. And all CMR is say is gosh darn we should have played a lot better than we did. How long will the Bulldawg Nation put up with this bs. I am so tired of his bs. I can’ watch the Dawgs any more I’m done.

Delbert you are right. For a month UGA fans pointed to how small the OL was for BSU. I was leery of jumping on the argument as football in the trenches is so much about leverage. He who gets lower will generally win the battle. Sound technique and leverage go a long way in determining who wins those battles. Last night was the perfect example. 5′11 center up against 6′6 noseguards and it wasnt even close all night.

Looks like another long year in Athens, and around the great state of Georgia, but if things go as planned, Richt and his entire staff will go as well. For too long it’s been a program that resembled Florida State or Miami, but never an Alabama, LSU, or Florida.
UGA has far too much to offer kids who want to play and go to school, and I am left wondering how other “powerhouses”,in the SEC manage to keep reloading. They all have in common an SEC mentality.
Richt never has. He’s a good human, but he’s too nice to coach in this conference.
Also, how many top 100 high school athletes were on Boise State’s team? My guess, is none, yet each kid was in focus, and played team ball. They had chemistry. I’m sorry for Richt, but I’m more sorry that I have to watch Georgia turn into “Georida State”. Even Florida State looks like they are playing better as a team.

Georgia ran the ball five straight times to Crowell and I thought the Falcons were the only team to do that with Turner. Same results as last year offensive line stinks? No pressure on their QB? Georgia has much better talent than Boise – coaching plus lack of commitment by players is really lacking-I think the coaches and players need to watch this game in the film room . I cannot imagine how Georgia will look any better against South Carolina and if they dont new coches will be comming to Georgia soon. I am not encouraged by the players attitudes-It is past time for this team to play like they really want to beat the other team. The coaches need to change things up – where are the screen passes? passes over the midddle- get the QB out of the pocket to pass? Good luck to the Dawgs this next week and I hope to see better results.

I love football, but can’t really address it technically, However, two things were obvious even to me.
One refers to a post made in the early hours on this site: brains beat brawn most of the time. UGA recruits and signs guys who are bigger than barns; BSU appears to recruit guys who are stronger in the brain box. I think football is more of a cerebral game than most people (especially Bulldog fans) think it is. Number two: did my eyes deceive me or were the UGA players wearing leotards??? I was watching on a laptop without the best reception, but I think that’s what I saw. How can football players dressed as ballerinas expect to win? Having said that, it’s true that ballet dancers, male and female are better conditioned than the majority of football players. But really, the players had to be embarrassed to be seen on the playing field in those ghastly uniforms – probably why they kept from making first downs, so they could run off asap. Whoever made the decision on uniforms should have to wear them!!!

@KeepDreaming — Murray looking at sidelines is by design of staff. Notice half or more college teams do that these days. I HATE it. Line up, act like taking a snap, then the whole team stands up and looks at the sidelines. That’s not football, it’s Red Rover or Tiddly Winks. Take that goofy crap outta the game. Since teams apparently have so much time, reduce the 35-sec clock to 25. OR just make a penalty to get out of the “set” position once you get in it.

It doesn’t look like football to me. Just goofiness.

Great example is Ward kid from Moultrie. should turn out to be a good one IF his injury heals. BUT that is why he is at UGA vs ALABAMA. Trust me. if he hadn’t got injured he would be at ALABAMA. He was an UA lean until he got hurt. Saban said no. So we took him. It is time to face facts…
We have lost 7 games in a row to ranked opponents …
SEC??? we aren’t a decent team in the Mountain West!
We have the same coaching issues as last year
1. No player discipline (celebrating for routine tackles, off sides, penalties in critical downs)
2. No adjustments on the field
3.Light hitting / no wrapping D-backs
4.No special teams plays
Gets 80 yards on one play…doesn’t run that play again!

No Heart
No Guts
No Glory
No emotion = no passion
SOS for another miserable year….
Mark Richt thinks a good recruiting year will give him job security

Mark Richt after game, what should have been said:

Ladies and Gentlemen, we were beaten by a better prepared team tonight. We as coaches did a poor job of getting our players ready to play. We as an entire staff, starting with me need to look at ourselves and determine if we have the right skill sets to make this program move forward. If we do not we need to make immediate changes to our staff including me. I have done a terrible job with taking players we and others have evaluated as great players and not coaching them to the level that is required to compete in the SEC. Our previous 10 games against ranked opponents is horrible. Our last 14 games overall have been horrible. And the horrible starts with me. I am not doing a good enough job as head coach to instruct my staff on how thing are to be done.

Let me go onto to say that we have the talent on this squad to compete. It is not the players, it is the staff that is in place and our game plans we have developed that will put our players in winning situations.

Our strength and conditioning program is getting better, however as you witnessed tonight we are not on the same level as others and it showed during the course of the game. When players get tired they make mental mistakes to overcompensate. When players are tired they get injured and we suffered some devastating injuries tonight. That falls on me as a head coach to get our team ready physically to play.

We are going to come into mondays practice with a “every position open” competition. I do not care if we had plans to redshirt a kid or not, if he shows he is ready to compete and knows how to play his assignments he will play and play alot.

I am going to visit Mr. McGarity on Sunday and let him know I expect more of myself and my staff and I know he expects more of us as well. If I am not capable of getting the job done then I should be replaced. I have 11 more games this season to prove our worth and if we are worth keeping on as coaches. I plan to work hard to do so. If I do not then I will be out the door and allow someone to come in here with a different paradigm who can correct the problems we did not.

I give us a grade of “D” tonight, I give that grade of D because our special teams and punter did a heck of a job and by giving us an “F” would be telling the punter and special teams they failed as well when they did not.

Thank you and good night.

Q. When are we going to run a toss sweep? We seemed faster than Boise, but never tried to really exploit the edge except on the sweep by Boykin that was good for an 80 yard TD run. Is there some reason why we continue to try to run between the tackles when there is absolutely no evidence we can power block for such a run?

B. Smith has no business on a SEC defense. He is scared to death to tackle someone. The SEC is a run first conference he is a pac12 defender not a SEC corner. He looked like he sheet himselp last night when attempting to make tackles. He olayed everyone and i bet he was so happy he got stiffed arm that way he did not have to get ran slap over down there on the goal line. Get him off the field let him return punts and be in on some offensive packages but get him off the defense.

I finally figured it out. I was flipping channels this morning and came across the Manchurian Candidate. That’s us! About 5 years ago Michael Adams had Mark Richt implanted with two chips. I don’t know, call them the testosterone vampire and the football competency vampire. The ultimate goal being to string together enough 4-8 seasons that UGA fans will stop paying 3000 bucks a year for tickets and then we can only afford to hire Ron Zook. We will take over as the SEC cellar dweller and Adams will have accomplished his mission. Brilliant!

I have to be honest……..Georgia fans have to be the most fickle fans in America. All summer, you people have been on these blogs talking about how Richt has won so many games per year and how Georgia is the best team in the world with the best OL, best DL, best LBs, best CBs, best Safeties, best special teams, best defense in the 2nd year under Grantham, best nose guards in the 2 world lead by a JC transfer that would change the world as we know it…..and that Boise couldn’t beat Georgia Southern 5 times out of 10 tries….etc etc etc. Then…..let your 19th ranked Bulldogs lose to the 5th ranked Broncos (and most people were telling you that your team would lose to them but you would not listen….even your coached told you that early in the week)….and you act like you just lost to Utah State (which Auburn nearly did) or some other lesser ranked team. You then want to fire your head coach….that you loved this summer……fire Bobo….who you said was better than Weis all summer……and crucify your players….who were the best players in the country this summer.

Truth is…..Georgia played a better team last night and were taken to task by players were were better and more experienced than your players. This will most likely happen next week as well. And Weis….in late October….will most likely show Grantham a thing or two about coaching (the Boise State OC made Grantham look stupid I hear with his play calling). Just wait until Weis has his opportunity……(he made the Florida Atlantic DC look like he was coaching a pee-wee team last night with the counter moved he made).

Georgia will most likely lose to SC next week and will have to work hard to beat any SEC team they play this year….even Vandy (because their coach and his staff is better than Richt and his staff). And, based on what I saw last night from the Florida coaches and players (especially on defense)….Florida will beat the Dawgs again this year. They simply have better coaches players.

But…..there is hope. Richt will most likely resign at the end of the year, along with his staff that you people hate so much. Then your savior….Kirby Smart…..will be offered the position and he will most likely take it (unless Saban offers him 4 mil to stay at the DC). He will follow in ex-Saban mold of coaching and bring hope back to the Georgia fans…..at least until he loses his first game.

P.S.

Forget about Mullen…..he would only leave for Ohio State or Texas A&M. He is not going to switch one Dawg for another Dawg.

Forget Peterson….he isn’t leaving Boise for anyone other than someone in the NFL.

Forget Meyer…..he is CUM and “cries” too much for Athens (what a joke).

Smart is your man…….as long as Bama is not willing to match the salary…..and then….he stays at Bama….as he has the last two years when offers came his way.

Maybe…..with the TCU loss….that coach might consider coming to Athens.

Well…..anyway…..stop your crying!!! You lost a game last night you were going to lose. You lost to a better team that is better coached. You will be playing the same kind of team next week. It could get UGly…..and the crying will most likely get even louder next week.

Will Richt even make it to late October to match up with those two “clowns” down in Gainesville….make it 3 “clowns”……because Quinn is a hell of a defensive coach too.

i am totally mystified at Georgia’s recent lack of success, when they have the same quality athletes, same competent coaching that they have had over the past decade. Although i am a devout bama fan, i have always loved the bulldogs, especially their history and tradition, however i feel that over the past few years a lack of discipline, no appreciation for Georgia’s tradition and silly little gimicks like blackout uniforms and the absolutely hideous costumes aka uniforms that they sported against Boise saturday might be in might be eroding their image and respect that their program has always had and can again. Granted, Saban is not the warmest and fuzziest coach, but everyone knows exactly who runs the show, and recruits know this and still come. It may sound silly, but when i saw the bulldogs come onto the field in that garish garb, it made me wonder who is in charge of this slowly sinking program. Sometime change is necessary, i really like Coach Richt, but i wonder. Go Dawgs!

Billy Jack….

Fact: recruiting stars don’t mean “jack”…..as wel illustrated last night. Great coaches look for players that best fit their system and develop their skills.

Fact: Georgia, at this time, has no running backs will “developed” skills (Crowell will most likely be good in time).

Fact: Georgia has only one “developed” receiver….Charles…but he takes too many plays off. King does not have reliable hands…..and your other experienced players at WR are simply not very good.

Fact: The young WR from Valdosta is going to be great….in time. He is already very good, but needs to better learn the system.

Fact: The 270 FB leading the 240 lb. did not work out too well….and it won’t all year. The 240 lb. LB playing RB should go back to playing 2nd and 3rd string LB…..and your TE playing FB needs to go back to playing TE.

Fact: Your OL…other than your center…..is not very good.

Fact: Your DL…..simply got pushed around by a smaller but technically better Boise OL….IT IS ALL ABOUT COACHING.a

Fact…..you have one good defensive back….and he is great. The rest are not that good. But your get “Hitman” RAMBO back next week….so at least you will have someone to make cheap hits on WRs and QBs next week.

Fact: Georgia has a bunch of highly rated recruits on their team that have been poorly coached and have no leadership on and off the field. And….until they do….Georgia will remain a team that does not live up to potential

…..and as Muschamp said recently……”Show me a player not living up to his potential and I will show you a loser. I don’t believe in potential. I believe in results. Either give me results or get out of the way. Let me find someone else that can get me the results I want.”

Well…..Mr. Richt….I think it is about time you took Muschamp’s advice…..you need to step aside and let someone else get results at Georgia.

So what I’m hearing from Richt in his last comments is that this game was meaningless because the season is long and we haven’t started playing SEC teams yet? WTF? Tampa – While I do agree with the basic gist of what you say, I also think Dawg Nation would be even more optimistic than pre Boise if we had opened with Florida Atlantic. Hard to tell much about a team when you play a Florida Atlantic. Having said that, I did see that Weis did have enough sense to go outside an utilize his speed advantage. Obviously, Bobo did that once on the Boykin sweep. I would disagree that it was trickeration in that it was actually just a pretty basic sweep that was well blocked at the point of attack. I beleive that UGA could have run wide with Crowell all night, but is apparently adverse to using any physical advantages against the opponent.

Yep. Again compare Richt to Muschamp.

Richt….his de-motivating comment about possibly not beating Boise early in the week. And then his post game comment that the loss really doesn’t matter because the SEC schedule has not begun yet.

vs.

Muschamp….the Florida Atlantic game is huge. We need to go out and show everyone what we did this summer. We need to go out an play really well and establish things the right way now. This game is big, real big. It is all about winning, no matter what team you are playing.

Then, after the game…..it was a good win. It was exciting to see the team play well. My only regret is (since they played so well) that the team did not have to face any adversity during the game. You get better from facing adversity. But the schedule is going to get harder every week. And we need to go out and play well every week and win. It is all about winning.

The tale of two different cities….and two different coaches. And I am glad that Muschamp, Weis, and Quinn at now in Gainesville….and will be for a long time (except Quinn…who will get a head coaching job somewhere very fast….probably next year). Muschamp and Weis are in Gainesville for year to come. All three can really, really coach.

Q. Coach, what will your talking points be next week when South Carolina whips you. A. At least our uniforms won’t be ugly. Q. you have a new strength & conditioning coach, yet your defense ran out of gas in the first drive of the 3rd quarter. A. We may have used up too much energy dancing on the sidelines prior to the game and at half time. Q. Outside of the first couple of series in the game, the defense was pretty much helpless against them. A. Yes, our defensive scheme of everyone running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off, had them laughing so hard that they couldn’t execute their plays at first, but then they got serious and it was over.

It’s ashame to hear “fans” attack a football coach and it’s players because they lost a football game to a team ranked higher than them. How about we be a people who support their team in wins and losses. Support the kingdom work of the head coach as he changes these young men’s lives. Imagine a coach like Coach Mark Richt pouring into these young men and teaching them how to handle situations when they win and when they lose. Sure we all love a good win but this is about much more than just football. These young men’s lives will be changed, for the better, forever.

I spent a lot of time on these AJC blogs this summer…..and MOST of the Georgia bloggers were predicting big things for Georgia this summer….as usual. I thought Georgia would lose to Boise because I thought Boise was better. I also thought Georgia would beat SC in game 2. I find that less likely to happen now. SC is good……and Spurrier….in his mad genius…..showed Garcia that he means business this year. Down 24-7….SC came back under Garcia and demolished E. Carliana. Very impressed. Plus……even though Florida Atlantic is not very good……Florida looked very fast and talened in all areas last night…..and extremley well coached. Brantley showed me something last night as well. He is night and day from last year. Still not great. But he is a leader now and showed leadership skills last night. He looked good in the pro-style offense. And Florida has excellent receivers in Dunbar, Thompson, Hammond, Dunbar, and Reed. A very good and very athletic OL (Chaz Green looked really good as the backup at OT on left and right sides) and the combo speed and talent of Demps and Rainey running and receiving out of the backfield….well….is just scary with Weis calling the plays. Burton got hurt last night on the first play….and hip pointer….and I did not get to see him run in short yardage situations. But the offense looked sharpe under Brantley. And….the defense….well…..it is truly very, very good.

And completely inept offensive play calling. Why on earth on 4th and 1 do you think you can get a yard when you have been dominated up front all game long? wtf??

When Richt came to UGA and the sec, the conference didnt have coaches like Saban, Meyer, Petrino.. Look what happened to the programs that hired these top caliber coaches.. Alabama goes from an average team to winning national title within a couple years.. Same with Florida at the time Meyer came in. It is obvious Richt is not on these guys level. “We have a lot of work to do,” Richt said. “But SEC play hasn’t even started. It’s a long season. We’ve got to get our minds right. A game like this, no question, we know more about our football team than if we played someone and beat them by 40. Hopefully that translates into us learning how to play better in these type of games and better see where our weaknesses are.”

—-I am personally glad Richt is not the head coach at Florida. A head coach should be able to recognize strengths and weakness on the 1. practice field 2. a game against a great team or 3. a game against a weak team. I think I understand now….Richt can’t see strengths and weakness in his team unless he loses a game…which, according to Muschamp, is something that is never a good thing. What can you say about Richt and his program? MEDIOCRE is the only way to describe this coach, his coaching staff, and the state of his program. This guy has destroyed the program, and he continues to sit there and embarrass all UGA fans time and time again on national T.V. If this guy had any morals at all like he says he does, he would admit he can’t get the job done anymore, and he would resign. He would not sit there and continue to bring this program down any farther. He would give back his $3 million dollar salary and move on. He has made this program a disgrace to the SEC and especially all UGA fans. All of you Richt lovers can say whatever the hell you want, but there are many coaches out there that are more talented and more qualified than this idiot to run this program. He was never a good head coach, he just happened to inherit a ton of talent, and he had a great D.C. to bail his sorry ass play calls for 4 or 5 years. He was also fortunate that Saban, Meyer, and Myles weren’t established when he came into the league. This guy is so full of himself, and it makes me and many UGA fans sick at our stomach’s to listen to him talk about how “we have alot of work to do” Give me a damn break, he and his pathetic coaching staff that he hired have no clue now, nor will they ever have a clue on how to design a game plan that will win in the SEC. How can any UGA fan sit there and continue to support the pitiful product this guy puts on display. My god, people, either ask McGarity and Adams to end this B.S., or hell we should all go find a team we can actually feel good about every saturday. Oh for the same old Richt lovers that get on here and rave about what he did 6 years ago, get a damn life and face reality. I hope you like getting humiliated on National T.V., and i hope you enjoy living in the past. Hell, i bet you even still brag about 1980, so pathetic.

dawgster I agree. The religion aspect is just something that is superfluous to the conversation. It is about coaching. Now whether or not Bobo was calling CMR’s playes last night or not is not been made public. But the playbook (also learned by our THIRD year QB although he is only playing in second) certainly has more plays in it than the four I saw called all night last night.
On the bright side, maybe Bobo wasn’t making adjustments because he was copying Boise State’s tunnel screen plays that worked so well and their sweeps. I know we don’t have #34 anymore, but I sure miss the days of “It’s a toss sweep on the right side to Herschel, 5, 10, finally brought down after a gain of about 12. ” I don’t think big #34 could have made more than about three yards the way we blocked last night.

Dawgster……

My comment had nothing to do with the Bible or religion of anyone……the comment is reladed to Richt and my belief that he does not spend enough time in the film room and working with his players….based on what I have seen and read. FYI……I posted already that Florida Atlantic was not a very good team but that you could already see the coaching impact Muschamp, Weis, and Quinn have had on the Florida team…..a very good one.

P.S. Muschamp is a deeply committed Christian…….and lives it just as much a Muschamp…..but I am told that Muschamp was in the film room after the game last night with Weis and Quinn looking at the Florida Atlantic game film. Where was RIcht after the game last night? My point about the Bible…..just because Richt wears his religion on his sleeve and flashing his candle so everyone in the public can see…..and the Bible talks about people who do that….if I correctly remember my Catholic upbringing.

So….Dawgster…..relax…..I am not attacking Richt’s religion….I am attacking his commitment to coaching….not his commitment to God.

@TampaGator…now I will agree with you there…the dawg fans do not accept losing, although it has been a too common pattern…You know I’m going to defend the dawgs and Coach Richt when people post what I feel are uncalled comments, especially about his religion…His religion should be left out of it and I got to believe you would feel the same way if it were your HC at florida…You know some of the stuff that was said about Meyer, regarding his health or his personal life…that was uncalled for in my opinion regarding any coaching he did last year…One thing I will say though is, I was not one that thought we were going to be all world, however, I didn’t expect some of the things I did or did not see last night…Thought we would be better up front on both sides of the ball…I was wrong…Our team also seems to have injuries at the worst possible positions of need, but I know that is football, but we have had more than our share compared to some…The lack of depth on our O-lines and at Lb’s are very discouraging, I hold the coaches responsible for that, understanding that some of it was out of their control..
Our Rb situation is dreadful…I said last recruiting that we needed to bring in at least 2 RB’s…didn’t happen and now the mess we are in is that we are depending on a very talented but young freshman to be the saviour, but we have no one else…Its unfortunate that R. Samuel is not a college Rb in my opinion…He is however one of the finest persons with the best attitude and team player we have…Willing to do whatever to help the team…I still believe he would serve us best if he continued to learn the Lb position, but at this point what additional damage would that do to this young man….Leave him at Rb and lets hope he will make some plays at some point, but until our overhis head OC puts us in some positions to win the results from Sat nights will continue…I still think Coach Richt has not forgotten how to coach, but his loyalty to his assistants will be his downfall….Of course at some point the coaches can only do so much….The players have to execute and ours just don’t do it consistently if we are to be relevent again in the SEC…As I said before we didn’t play a slouch of a team Sat, so until next week against SC I will be careful what I say, but right now, just full of frustration….go dawgs….

It is so easy to be critical of someone else when you have nothing to lose so many people make statements based on nothing more than their hurt pride. Boise State is a very good team and had their way with UGA. Why do so many of the comments on here refer to superior talent at UGA? Obviously Boise had better talent last night. I think Crowell did he best he could with what he had to work with and will have a very good season. The outcome of the game last night was pretty much as expected. I did however expect the D to put pressure on Moore. Good luck next week against USC. I expect considerable improvement and think that we have a chance to win, but USC should be at least a TD favorite.

@Murray is a Quitter….doubt very seriously if you have the guts to get out on the field and stand in that pocket and take the hits he took and does take along with other QB’s that are Div 1 Qb’s…Real easy to judge something from watching it on a TV screen and then get on your computer and call someone a quitter….As many Qb’s know they are asked to avoid unneccessary hits when possible…That may mean taking a slide or running out of bounds instead of taking on a steamrolling LB….The young man suffered a severe broken leg his senior year and against all odds was able to get back on the field for his team in the State Championship game….against anyone’s wildest expectation…So to say he is a quitter is absurd…

I said it….and I will say it again. Meyer sacrificed the Florida team last year for money…..the 4 mil in salary in fact. He did not coach much at all last year (except on Saturdays) and put the team in the hands of Addazio….who was not an OC and had too many duties to be effective as the real head coach last year. He also did some things in his personal life that he is paying the price for doing. Meyer’s stress and health issues were directly related to his actions. He is obviously taking the time now to re-esablish his family relationships and get mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy again….and then will probaly go back and coach again….probably back home in Ohio next year.

Nothing was addressed in the offseason. The S&C still is garbage. All i heard all summer is how hard the new workouts are and i thought that was a warning sign. Anyone can make a workout hard, but can you make the workout produce results on the field of play. Our answer is no we were out of gas in the second quarter and were cramping in a dome envrionment before half time. Not one Boise player cramped up. At this level of play the S&C coach must have a ton of knowledge of the science of exercise. It is hard to improve someone who already runs a 4.4 and lifts 350 on the bench and squats 500. You have to know what you are doing to improve great athletes not be an ex videographer. Lets hire the ball boy to coach the O line cause he played center in pound ball.

Concerning Murray……..

I think he was exhausted on that last play. When Georgia pulled to 28-14….the cameras showed Murray pulling for the defense to make a stop so he could get back in to get his team back in the game. But, as we know, the defense did not hold up that end of the bargain. And neither did the Georgia offensive line or RBs or WRs….last night. The one player I saw playing well and giving it all he had on every down…..was Murray. But, unfortanately, he was mostly doing that when falling backwards from the pass rush or when he was running for his life due to the poor play of his OL, RBs, and WRs. The only WR I saw of any worth last night…..was the freshman WR from Valdosta. Charles simply took too many downs and plays off. The NFL is watching that with him.

I just watched the replay of that last down again……Murray had no chance on that play…..and he did look exhausted and totally frustrated with the effort of his OL on that play. It was more that the OL quit….not Murray.

Murray holds the ball too long and seems unable to see down field being so short. And why is it that when we need 3 yards for a 1st dowm, he throws the ball 20 yards down field. Georgia WILL bounce back against SC – I don’t know about SC either as a team – they really struggled in the 1st half against a weakling like East Carolina. USC was looking pretty bad until Garcia came into the game. STILL EC put up 37 points and over 350 yards offense – with 250 yards RUSHING (against an SEC team). @TampaGator…my comments regarding Meyer from last year were not pointed to anyone…I saw alot of comments from dawg fans, gator fans and others that I believe were uncalled for regarding any personal or health issues he had….Did that have an affect on his coaching…I can’t answer that, but thats what people are going to say, the same for coach Richt’s religion..Also, by the way Coach Richt and staff were going thru film this morning, however our game ended late last night so I assume that we would expect that they be allowed a few hours sleep before reviewing film….I believe most coaching staffs follow this agenda…..
At this point I honestly don’t have an answer for all of our problems..Are we as bad as we looked at times or is Boise St that good…Too early to tell at this point, but what bothers me is our continue lack of establishing what kind of team we want to be on offense….I have officially had to admit that Coach Bobo, although a very, very good recruiter and DGDog, is over his head and not using or adjusting to the talent he has….Its true that the players must execute, but I question whether we are being put in the right position to make those plays….One thing I do know, is Murray is more suited to run play action and roll-out type plays where he can use his feet…When he is in the pro-style shotgun formation I’m not sure he sees the field as well…At least that’s my opinion…go dawgs

we should have rolled Murray out of the pocket more and i thought that all last yr too. Our O line cant pick up blitzes so you have to move the pocket and i cant stand the play that Bobo loves where the wide receiver takes a step back and Murray throws the ball 25 yards down the line of scrimmage to gain two yards or lose two yards. I hate that flipping play. That only works when you play inferior teams. Bobo runs that play about 5 times a game. if it happens to work he will run it 10 times a game

Dawgster…..

Before I go…..did you get the chance to watch any of the Florida game last night. Football has a lot to do with coaching. Good coaching was very evident last night for Florida. They….even though they were playing a much lesser team…..looked well coached and executed extemely well on offense and defense. And Meyer’s issues last year did impact the Florida team…big time…last year. The players have said so to some extent, even though most of them really love Meyer. They know his heart was not into coaching last year. Muschamp, Weis, and Quinn are pros and have lifted the Florida program up already. Brantley is an example. He looked completely different on the field last night. He is still an average, at best, QB. But he showed a lot of determination and leadership last night….and he showed little of that last year. And I thank Weis and Muschamp for that. Florida is going to surprise, in my opinion, a lot of people this year…with their play. I am not saying they are going to beat LSU, Bama, and SC….or even Georgia……but they might…and could….based on what I saw both on the field from the players and on the sidelines from the coaches….last night. Florida is a very talented and well-coached football team. Now….have a nice day. I might check back in later.

P.S. I will be pulling for the Dawgs to upset SC next week.

Ok, here’s my two cents. First, congrats to the Spud Studs, coach Pete, and the staff. You took a bunch of 2-3 stars and humiliated a star studded UGA in our own backyard! What great coaching and playing. Dawg fans, one word: equanimity, find some! We are all frustrated, but the team can’t quit, and don’t turn your back on the kids or the coaches. Turning on them will only make it worse. Constructive criticism and positive comments: the D looked better and we tackled better, but we have a long way to go imho. There were some issues to consider. Both of our inside LBs got hurt, one safety was suspended and the other got hurt, and we wound up with a number of walk-ons in there, and it was noticeable when we really got on the roller skates in the second half. We looked better early. Was that the cause? Don’t know, but it couldn’t have helped. J. Jones showed some flashes of brilliance. We didn’t play well enough, but I do see some hope on D. Offense was a disaster. We started with what? 3 penalties in the first three and out? We looked like we simply weren’t ready to play. Our line failed to open holes, and they failed to protect Murray and they looked mystified–we have to coach better. I know we were very thin, and we had an injury. I didn’t like the play calling, either. The up tempo thing looked like it caused more confusion for us than it did for Boise! Crowell is very green, and he reminded me a little bit of Ealey. Serious time in the weight room, better knowledge and experience, and more confidence (maybe a haircut to keep his helmet on), and I think he might become a very fine UGA TB. It is going to take some time. He will continue to get better with more play, but I sure wish Malcome could get healthy. My chief concern with TK was ball skills; last night was a step backwards imo. Brown looked good, but obviously got hurt early. Mitchell looks good, and I didn’t notice Bennett at all. We have to get guys in there that can catch it, though. Maybe it is Mitchell and Bennett, and maybe it is Lynch at TE and Charles at WR. What he lacks in speed, he makes up for with size. I think he could play it if we can’t find somebody who can catch. Charles looked pretty sharp at times. Let’s get the playmakers on the field. My biggest gripe was play calling. Look, we know Murray can play. Looking at last year and his HS tapes, his strongest suits are his wheels and his ability to scramble and find the open man. We have problems with protection, so what would you do? I would call bootlegs, reverse bootlegs, rollouts, screens, bubble screens, and delayed screens, anything to neutralize the weak protection. I would do swing passes, delays out of the backfield, and anything to get the ball to the RBs in space where they don’t have to rely on holes being opened. Admittedly, I don’t have 1% of Richt’s or Bobo’s experience, but those seem like very obvious changes based on the reality of our situation. We have to improve tremendously to match last year’s record. Again, hats off to Boise. And no, I won’t turn on the kids or the coaches! We didn’t do half as well as I thought we would, but Go Dawgs anyway.

That’s poor coaching. An how about the tackling angles on returns? Imagine if Spurrier had this level of talent.

Yada, Yada, Yada… Same old play or lack there of and same same old wore out comments from CMR. What the heck were you doing since that pathetic showing against Central Florida. UGA looked as unprepared to begin the season as they did when the season ended. Watching the game I could not honestly see any area of improvement by this football team and CMR is responsible for that and the AD continues to allow medocrity.

I could care less about color, design – whatever, but performance of nike pro combat was disappointing. Tavarous King was disappointing too – Mitchell should start along w/ Wooten. I liked Murray’s rhythm in the latter part of the game, and would like to see an air attack early in the SC game, with Zander Ogletree or Bruce Figgins blocking, along with our o-line!

Before too long we are all going to go insane according to definition.. We keep watching a poorly coached team make the same mistakes over and over and over while expecting different results. This coaching staff has had every opportunity to make adjustments but we keep seeing the same BS.. How many times are we going to watch the slow developing run up the middle for little or no gain.. And why would you run that play on fourth and 1 when you have been getting stuffed all night.??

CkGator….

Georgia is one of the top 25 elite programs in the country. If they weren’t, they would not be able to get the top recruiting classes they get every year. The problem is not that they aren’t ellite, they are. The problem has been coaching up the elite talent they recruit, which Richt hasn’t except for one year….2006…..and even then, he should have won the national title, not just the Sugar Bowl. They were the best team in the country at the end of that year but did not ge the opportunity to prove it. Florida is a top 10 elite team because they have transitioned the elite talent they recruit into multiple championships in recent years.

I guess all you Dawg fans have heard that Sharieff Floyd was ruled ineligible before the game last night for Florida. I guess you are too angry at your coach to rip into him today. His ineligibility has nothing to do with his recruitment or anything related to agents or Florida boosters. My guess is that it has something to do with earning money or taking money or benefits inappropriately as related to NCAA rules. I am sure he will be asked to pay back or give back and will get his eligibility back. But you have to wonder what is going on in these kids minds…..that they would risk making millions in the NFL for a one time opportunity to gain something outside of the rules. But, a lot of these kids come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and are tempted by opportunities that present themselves. Something needs to be done, but I am not sure what that something is. If Floyd’s eligibility is not restored by the NCAA, Florida’s depth of the DL become more of an issue this year, especially if someone goes down with an injury.

Speaking of the Florida DL…..I watch Dominque Easley last night…..and he reminds me of Nick Fairly….same size and quickness….motor never stops. Even the ESPN announcers made that comparision during the game.

I have had my eye on Easley since the HS all star game–nobody could block the guy. Not a guarantee, but I suspect he is going to be a great one. Funny enough on your earlier comments, I have a son in Gainesville, and he went to his first Gator game last night. He said, Dad, it was fun and exciting but our (Gator) fans are really obnoxious! They boo the other team when they run out on the field even when they stink (it was FAU) and they don’t let up with the abuse even when they are ahead by a mile. I would guess you would be doing good to find 18 fifth year seniors total in the sec. But no the hot shot sec players red shirt one year, play part time the second year, start the third year and gone either to the NFL or flunk out. Did anyone notice how lucky Auburn was yesterday and what a hard time some of the other sec teams had to win their game. The fact is the top teams in the sec would have a hard time beating Boise yesterday because they have a veteran football team. If your son is at Florida, then he sits in the student section to the right of the opponent. Most get drunk before the game and act like total JA during the game (like with most students in any college stadium). I would not sit anywhere near there myself. But that section does not represent the remaing 85,000 Gator fans in THE SWAMP. I have attended many, many games in The Swamp, and I see nothing but respect for other teams from the non-students for the most part. Considering booing the other team…..that is what you are supposed to do when they come on the field. Other than that time, the very loud cheering for the Gators covers up any booing of the other team by some drunk student. Patheitc excuse for a pass defense. 10 yards, 10 yards, 10 yards, 10 yards. TOUCHDOWN Broncos. Grantham hasn’t proved a dang thing to me or anyone else for that matter. With the money he is getting paid, and the attitude he carries, he isn’t worth a damn. The run defense was pretty great in my eyes, but pass coverage was atrocious just like last year. I don’t understand where our pass rush was, considering they have a Heisman type quarterback that has made a living picking apart defenses.

I still laugh at all the comparisons to size, because this just goes to show you a well coached team that plays hard can beat out athleticism and size every time. Our coaches obviously need to get more emotional and spread it through the players. We came out flat, and were pretty awful. Orson Charles, hair do aside, and Malcolm Mitchell had amazing games, as well as Jarvis Jones on defense. Could name a few more if our ugly ass jerseys actually had names of players, seeing as we have some new guys out there.

Sorry to keep running my mouth, but it hurts putting so much anticipation into this for nine months and having to deal with the same stuff that has been happening. Crappy defense, no emotion out of our head coach, and another whipping at the hands of a team we had potential to play with. Pretty sad when the fans have more emotion than the coaches that are engrossed in this every day of their lives.

A lot of IF’s there. IF we would have not let them score, we would have won, IF the line blocked we would have ran the ball better, IF we didn’t lose 7 games last year we play for the National Championship. Gotta come to the plate with something better than that, because it’s comments like that that get the media and all other rival fans to call us all belligerent fans that are always making excuses. There is just a lot of frustration being expressed in the Dawg nation right now-for good reason. Boise State had a well coached effort and adjusted well quickly to Georgia’s defensive plan, as they say the rest is history. Sadly, Georgia lost the battle in the trenches, but even worse, they lost the coaching battle plain and simple. Hats off to Brandon Boykin and Malcolm Mitchell for providing some dignity to an otherwise weak effort.by the Dawgs. I for one am tired of the hype and the poor on field performance. Once again we had better athletes on the field than the competition who played well below their collective abilities in my opinion-sad. Bosie State was not a “cup cake”, but for the love of pete most of us coupld have completed the short passes the Kellen through against the soft zone pass defensive. Steven Spurrier is licking his chops-God help us, as our coaching staff is helpless!!!

Contractor ,I ‘m not saying we didn’t get out played or out coached because we did on both accounts. Two of their def lineman are going to play in the pros and we kept running right into their strength. The only 3 or 4 plays we run outside gained over a 100 yards. And call it what you want to but is a FACT we stopped them 4 of their first 5 possessions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The point I was trying to make is Bozo called anothrer bad game.

I just wanted to interrupt and let you know I’m hear for you guys. If you need a good push from behind, just let me know.

Nick.

Oh and p.s. as is the case with many transitions of head coaches the new coach will more than likely turn on the lights and roaches will scatter. Then you’ll see your mess and most of the time you find out the old coach was originally winning off the players recruited by the previous coach and had actually not recruited well at all. That could be the case in Athens but I think you’ll find you have talent, the roaches may be in how they were being coached and developed.

But if you’re going to fire a coach, do it swiftly and cleanly. If you don’t, if you drag it out then in 4 years you’ll pay for it (or be told you’re going to pay for it) even though you might have just won the BCS National Title and hold the longest winning streak in FBS. Just saiyn. Don’t drag it out.

That’s my friendly advice nudge from behind. Now you want my helmet to the knee advice? Keep CMR. :D He’s a winner just like those uniforms. Boy that was so ugly that it made you forget how ugly Ben Jones can be when he gets his $#% handed to him.

Football is first a game of whipping the guy in front of you, and then scheme. Georgia’s talent laden 5-star recruit team got whipped at the point of attack on both sides of the ball, but more so on offense. Then, the Boise coaches took all of about 1 quarter to figure out Georgia’s defense and then exploited Georgia’s poor physical shape and poor time of possession in the 2nd half. Congrats to Boise. Coach Peterson, doors open in Athens if you’d like to play in that atmosphere every week. It snows a lot less in Athens and our field won’t make you want to rip your eyeballs out.

“there are lots of SEC and UGA haters on this board. It’s really sad to see the haters try to compensate for their shortcomings by lashing out on an Internet blog – get a life, people, pathetic really.”

EVERYTHING IS FINE. WE WILL WIN THE 10 GAMES WE HAVE AGAINST CUPCAKES THIS SEASON.

Facts are that Georgia tek in 2009 was NOT good. They played a weak schedule. They LOST their good games, and even if we had lost to them, the win would have been vacated in ther back-to-back FOOTBALL NCAA PROBATION major infractions database. Other than that win 2009, we beat NO ONE IN 2008, beat NO ONE IN 2009, beat NO ONE IN 2010, and obviously will beat NO ONE IN 2011.

If that is fine with you, you sir are the problem we have with this football program nowadays. Now, please reply to me about Ray Goff. Look, there is a separation of Church and State. This is football. If he knows what the blank he is doing, he would have agreed with the fan from Macon. Our offense is horrible. 28 unanswered points. Let’s see, how many years has this been going on ? 2-9 vs teams at game time ranked in the Top 10 of the last 11 such games. Get real. We haven’t beat a single team who ended up in the AP Poll Top 10 for 6 seasons now in 2006 when we beat # 9 Auburn that year (while we lost 4 games including to 4-win Vandie.)

GO ROOT FOR A DIFFERENT PROGRAM, AND TAKE MARK RICHT WITH YOU, please I pray.

This is not GA football, where is the team? They all play like individuals, they want the spotlight on themselves instead of playing like a member of a team. Why do you think GA players have problems keeping their helmets on their heads when they make tackles or get hit? Because they all have long dreadlocks that cause them to wear helmets that are too big for them, so they pop off every time they get hit. They are more concerned with how their hair looks than they are about playing as a team, just look at Boise State, they played like a team and I didn’t see any showboating or helmets popping off because of hair doos!

When was the last time Georgia just came out and dominated a Division IA team? Maybe Hawaii in the 2007 Sugar Bowl? How about another SEC team? Maybe Auburn in 2007? I know we’ve had our ups and downs over the last decade, but it seems like prior to 2008, every season had at least one impressive game. I’m not just disappointed with our program, I’m bored with it. I expect to lose now I guess. Sad.

A: “We went in having an awful lot of respect for them.. We knew they were a very good football team. They were good on both sides of the ball. Very veteran defensive football team. An awful lot of experience on the offensive side of the ball as well. And they get after it. They did a great job.”

CMR – you’ve been at UGA for 10 years. With all of the great classes you’ve recruited, how can it be that we don’t have a veteran defense and an experienced offense – that indeed, we had a walk-on backing up the all-important MLB position. For shame. For shame. What the hell have you been doing?

i said this during the game, i actually even ran to the computer so i could voice my frustration to the other bloggers during the game. my main problem with the game is our line play, mostly on O though. if i saw that my line was getting dominated i would have put more men up front, to help givemy qb more time to throw or give my rb that exrtra lineman, but did we see this? nope. we ran the spread allllllll game . when we ran I form we got three consecutive 1st downs. when we went back to spread we got stopped on the next 3 plays. after that sequence i literally laughed, and turned the tv off. bobo found success in the I then went right back to the formation tht got himso little yardage in the first half. we need to get rid of this failure of a o coordinator.

@Actuary. Auburn actually took the lead in the blackout game but then Dawgs rattled off a bunch of unanswered points. It felt like UGA dominated because of the blackout and soulja boy dance party, but the game was actually a little tighter than most remember. Last good SEC team dominated? I call at LSU in 2008, three games after the arse-whipping by Alabama. That game started with a pick-6 and UGA was pretty much in control the entire game.

This is not likely to be a banner year for the Dawgs, people. Far too many inexperienced players on the field, and that showed big time vs. Boise State. You just can’t expect freshmen and redshirt freshmen to compete with fourth and fifth year players.

The Dawgs look like they’ll win their share of games and get to a Bowl game, but they do not look near tough enough in the trenches and on defense to compete with the top teams in the SEC.

Richt needs to go back and take a look at WHY he was winning games in his early Georgia years. The five-star players with questionable eligibility and tenure are going to do him in.

Lessee, if your big-arse lineman has to move backward in the spread against a quicker d-lineman or linebacker, he’s going to get beaten and he’s going to get tired. 1. “new” strength and conditioning coach off-season. Promoted from the S&C staff where he has been his whole life. Winded players in 1st qtr in dome. Half the players designated to take the place of the 26 players kicked off this team in the last year, never got to get a snap all Fall Camp because of groin pulls, quad and hamstrings, when this is the 1st part of any S&C.
2. I know what the blank I am doing to the Macon fan about Bobo, showed that Mark Richt has got the fire back this season. Excuse me, it was quite clear when he was laughing on the sidelines that he has lost touch. He has no fire and actually thinks having a fire in his belly is anti-Christ like.
3. Dream Team. He has 11 recruiting classes that average the # 7 recruiting classes, averaging all Scout.com and all Rivals.com rankings. This class was ranked # 6 by Scout.com and # 6 by ESPN. That’s our Dream ? To recruit a # 6 recruiting class ? Jim Donnan (19 losses his 5 years here) lost his job when he called his team the best he had ever coached. Mark Richt (21 losses last 5 years and now 0-1 as the # 7 team in The SEC) calls this his Dream Team, so we will continue to pay him $3.5 million dollars a season total compensation.
4. We didn’t get anyone arrested this off-season, when we are # 2 all-time in Fulmer Cup which started in 2006, six seasons ago. You hid from us the suspensions of several players; and, you have run off 26 scholarship football players 15 of whom were 5-star recruits in the last year.
5. You say you are the # 4 best coach in America. We are not in the Top 25 as a football program in won/loss record starting 2006 – six seasons now. Do you want to explain this statement all year 2011 Mark Richt where you said yourself that you are the # 4 best coach in America and know what you are doing.
6. Addition by subtraction. We are told by you above here to answer the very first question postgame that you have 2 guys who are injured and that that has ruined your football team Mark Richt, that it is devastating to us. Supposedly, running off 26 players the last year who would have played last night while I wasted $20 on a Bust Boise T-Shirt, was addition by subtraction. Now, we have 2 injuries and all of a sudden that is your latest excuse. Pardon me, sir, LIE from you.
7. Energy Vampires. The whole concept is counter-productive. There is nothing positive about it. It is like getting your butt beat by a team who now plays not 1 single team who is a ranked team all season long, and did it averaging the # 69 recruiting class the last 5 years according to Scout.com, and saying anyone who says that our football program has not beat a team who finished in the AP Poll Top 10 since # 9 Auburn in 2006, when we lost 4 games in 2006 including to 4-win Vandie, doesn’t support the team – when next week if you Lose to South Carolina for then the last 6 seasons, Mark Richt will not have a winning record vs The SEC East.
8. You are either on the bus or not. Get on the Bus. This team is not on the bus. The whole entire team played like crud. Sure Brandon Boykin made a 80-yard run; he also returned the kick-offs to the 15-yard line every time they scored which was all night long, except once. Malcolm Mitchell make some serious show of ability in the game, but you didn’t play him until when ? 5 minutes to go, losing 7-28. Your # 1 RB in the nation at 4.43 speed finds 221 others this 2011 recruiting class alone, faster than he. You ran the ball up the middle, given the fact that Boykin’s run was outside; and never did run anyone else outside. This ranks up there with your finish the drill lie. At my Church, the person who drives the bus first has a clue and second is a person who can be counted upon as the leader. You sir, are witless.
9. The 3-4 defense has a 2nd year now with last year under their belt and we have the top secondary (when we have no one who covers the forward pass and have not had in 6 years now) and such great linebackers that we are moving a failed RB from linebacker back to RB to see him do nothing, yet again to remind us why he was benched last time he was RB and such great push inside from Jon Jenkins who Rodney Garner berated in public all Summer and Kwame Geathers who would not relinquish the NG to him, and such stout speed on defense that we will sack opposing QB. This is the biggest Mark Richt LIE of all. Against a QB who obviously we could not prevent from completing every single pass, we put no pressure on his at all. Jarvis Jackson got pressure one time and Branden Smith got the interception. Just like Boykin running outside, did the coaching staff even notice what was working on the Branden Smith interception ? The answer is no. I am ashamed of his lies to the Richt-0-File DISNEYdawgs.com that they have shoved down my throat all Summer. Nice job of getting pushed around on offense, special teams and defense by 2-star players Mark Richt, cementing yourself as the # 7 team in The SEC. Get rid of Ditch Richt.

we had to run zone because our DB’s were so tired from the no huddle. (wtf happened to the super hard old fashioned conditioning that made people quit the team?) once our db’s got gassed it was over. you rarely blitz from zone because that means there is going to be a huge open zone somewhere on the field.

our defense was tired because the offense couldn’t get a first down.
our offense couldn’t get a first down because our oline failed at pass pro.
our oline failed at pass pro because they were running the !$#@% spread! i mean wth why were we running the spread! this more than anything shocked me.

Chip. Yes. I thought the same thing. What did they do when they practiced at the Georgia Dome to make Boise State so mad unfair they claimed ? Boykin on opening kick-off had his shoe come off. On 1st drive on coin toss, we had 3 penalties then punted. And, the helmuts came flying off on every single play. And, we slipped when our # 1 RB in the nation got his 1st snap the 2nd drive. Just what exactly do we practice ?

All they’ve got to do is use the I formation more, run on first down more than they did, stop handing the ball off so much out of the shotgun. Richt nailed it in his final comments. I hope they do learn from this game and rethink how to move the offense down the field next game.. defense was on the field the majority of the game and cant be blamed for struggling in the second half.. I would have liked to see more pressure on the QB though. The two times I saw Moore get hit- one was an incomplete pass and the other was an INT.

I was most disappointed in so many fans LEAVING at 21-7. SHAMEFUL! If you’re sitting at home, you can slouch and be bummed on your couch, but if you’re at the game, show some respect, support the team, and make some noise. These boys work hard for this. YOU DIDN’T. Blame whoever you want, but show some more respect. You’re there to support the team. Kudos to all the great fans that stayed and cheered the whole way through. You are not the only fan this program has, sir. We all have the right to be totally unhappy about the state of this football program, while you sit there squirming in your chair, hiding behind your keyboard, trying to come up with something positive about losing to a team who plays not 1 game all season long against any ranked team. A team that totally humiliated us. A team, that despite your view of the game, the rest of us saw as 28 unanswered points. A game where obviously we had to rush the QB and did that once with great success. A game where we needed to run the football outside, and did that once with great success. A game where Brandon Boykin should have been sat down for the Opening Kick-off for what he did to the opposing coach who has two times won the Bear Bryant Award. A game where we celebrated 5 yard gains losing by 7-28. A game where we appeared to want to be on TV without our helmets on. A game where we made 3 first downs. A game where we lined up and back-peddled. A game where we started out slowly when we had to start off fast, and then fizzled out all together. A game where all Summer Long in here, YOU, came running in here and told ME all 9 LIES I just posted of Mark Richt all Summer Long. Now, that none of your 9 LIES are true. What do you do ? Come in here and have the unmitigated gall to say we are not good Dawg fans. 73,000 of us there with you sir. What we saw and what we see, is not your DISNEYdawgs.com view. Hello everyone! I really like coach richt and I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, but I swear it seems that there is just a complete break down of disipline and structure of the program. There doesn’t seem to be any fear from the players when they screw up, dropped passes and stupid penilties. I know some people don’t respond well to a lot of screaming and getting in your face, but these are 18 to 22 year old kids that need very strict structure. Some a lot more than others. And there should be stiff consequences to mistakes such as those seen Saturday along with ones seen for the past 2 years! Aside from obvious, poor conditioning on both sides of the ball, poor tackling, poor play calling, poor defensive scheme, and most importantly an overall appearance of not wanting to finish games, there has to be a base of structure to build off of. And it starts with basic football fundamentales!

I remember when Coach Richt made Tony Gilbert cut his hair so it would not show out from under his helmet. Jones and Crowell are emabarrassing with their helmets coming off, especially Jones. Coach Richt, make them cut their hair. You will find out what is more important to them, their hair or the team. You find out who is committed. I remember when we use to run the toss sweep for TDs. Best play in UGA history. I remember when we would throw to the fullback, hobnail boot with Veron Haynes. Also Boise had 2 lineman over three hundred pounds, I think we have 8. Our lineman are so slow especially with what they are being asked to do on offense. Those 3 down linemen from Boise won the line of scrimmage all night. Coach Richt, go back to what has been successful. Get in the I and run the football. When you have had a 1000 yard rusher we competed for championships.

Really disappointed in the showing last night. D was doing ok until the 2nd half. The offense kept the D on the field and ultimately wore them down. The S & C program is not working if the players are getting that tired, especially after just coming back from halftime. Bobo’s play calling was inexcusable. Murray is fine…just needs a decent O-line. Mitchell is going to be a DGD in his career at UGA. Charles is a stud. Boykin made some good plays. I don’t think that SC will blow the Dawgs out despite the showing on Sat. I think it’s going to be a typical shoot out between the 2 teams. Hopefully adjustments will be made this week and maybe the coaches and some of the players are reading this blog and will be tired of the trash talk (albeit well-deserved at times) and be fired up on Sat. For the very few decent puppy fans out there, this isn’t for you.
For the majority of you completely delusional puppy fans, this is.

There’s no amount of excuses in coaching or execution or play calling that would have changed this game!

When Ga did change things up Boise adjusted and Boise’s better and more skilled players knocked your overrated recruits in the chin and on the turf.

There’s no bulsh&t excuse or anything else you bandwagon fire Coach Richt should losers should be complaining about or trying to rationalize this loss.

BOISE STATE IS A FAR SUPERIOR TEAM, i’ve been telling you this for months now!

Nothing can help you beat a far better, far superior team, than the team beating itself and that didn’t happen!

Your SO MUCH BIGGER AND STRONG(in your little minds in Georgia) lines weren’t stronger, weren’t more skilled, weren’t better athletes……………NOT EVEN CLOSE! Boise destroyed your lines.

Running it on the outside is not the answer, Boise would have adjusted.

GET OVER IT! Boise is and has been better THAN GEORGIA FOR YEARS NOW!

Quit trying to find excuses to help you sleep and realize few teams beat Boise, Boise only has beaten itself once in the last 3 years and lost the other game by 1 pt in 2008.

Boise owns the SEC and will beat a good SEC team by the time this season is over.

In my personal opinion, MUCH of this game, and our sorry last season, rests on the coaches. We have top recruits, we need a better game plan, better adjustments, and better motivation. That is what coaches are for. I fear Bobo is out of his league, the rest of the teams have clearly figured out based on our lack of imagination. Mark needs to bring back the play calling.

Take my helmet off, please

September 5th, 2011
12:30 pm

Did anyone notice how many of the UGA players “lost” their helmet? This was no accident, mostly. Every time the camera would focus on the helmet on the ground and then to the player who lost it as he slowly showed his pretty face and deliberately slide it back on. Finally I realized it was no accident. Then I noticed number 29, Jarvis Jones, actually pull off his helmet by himself, but the camera didn’t notice it. Then about five plays later his helmet came off again. The announced noticed the helmet on the turf and then focus on Jones’s pretty face and he slowly put it back on. All this tells me that there are too many UGA players are more interested in the limelight than being concerned they were being whipped by BSU. Richt’s teams the last six years have a common theme, no leadership, discipline and an attitude that the team is more important than the individual. A side note: Boise State looked disciplined, called plays that constantly had UGA guessing wrong and flat outcoached UGA on both sides of the ball. All this done with no 4 or 5 star athletes. UGA needs leadership, on and off the field. There are too many true freshmen starting. In fact, UGA has more starting freshmen than GT! With about 30 years of getting the “dream” team athletes, why start freshmen who make freshmen mistakes? Even Herschel Walker did not start the first three games as a freshman! Bottom line is Richt has an inferior coaching staff. He has hired badly with Grantham who had not improved the defense one iota, in fact, they have been worse with him. Bobo was a very smart quarterback and with David Green life was simple. But let’s give one credit where it is due. Kevin Moore is a great quarterback with NFL accuracy. He is cool in the pocket and has a team of veteran players who do not showboat like UGA does all the time. When all the hype is done, they just came out and whipped UGA in every possible way, offense, defense, coaching, strategy, attitude, toughness, and class. I thought I would never, ever pull for Boise State but I believe they are the real deal and not because they dominated an overrated UGA team, it’s the way they did it. No, they would not win every week against an SEC team, but they would against the weakest ones, UGA, obviously.

I have been a lifelong dawg fan, and i have been a richt supporter but i have to withdraw anydefense of coach richt after the Sat nite game. I witnessesd the same thing we had last year !). An offensive line that was dominated at ther point of attack. 2). How is Tavarress King a starting reciever he couldnt catch a cold! 3) our much improved & better defensive line was stopped cold at the line of scrimmage the defensive backs & linebackers looking around at each other after every complete pass trying to find out who was supposed to be covering? slow getting set , arm tackling yet again! if they game had been played ia a mud field kellon moore’s shoes might have been dirty cause he wasnt touched aLL NIGHT. Georgia players cramping in the second quarter!! i saw no Boise State players keaving the field with cramps! These same things we suffered through last year were suppossed to be addressed by Todd Grantham 2nd year as DC nope SOS with the defense. I have no love for Mike Bobo But no offensive calls would have worked with the way our offensive line was geeting pushed around I thought Joe Tereshinski’s neew conditioning program was suppossed to end that Hmmmm. Last but not least WHO IN GOD”S NAME ON THE GEORGIA STAFF APPROVED THE DAMN UGLY ASS UNIFORMS THAT MADE US LOOK WORSE THAN A LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM!!!! and yet Bosie’s uniforms were very cool!! this once proud program is on a disturbing downhill slide that no one one the coaching Staff or atheletic program knows How to stop. i think its time to look at the teams leader and sdomeone needs to tell mark richt to show some emotion on the sidelines. the fans are very passionate why not the coach?

One sorry job of coaching on the defence. looked like the linebackers played 15 yards off the ball and then dropped 15 yards back at the snap. and the slowest tight end in the college game never had anyone covering him. and any reciever that cut accross the middle was allways open. only a moron would coach defense like this and after completions over and over no adjustments were made. even any high school defence coach would know better than this. we have problems and I dont see them improving this coach does not have a clue.

Has anyone ever noticed the quarterback telegraphs the hand off by running around with the ball stuck out to hand off? And, he always runs back to do it, rather than turn around and and have a quick hitter since they always want to run up the middle. I can see maybe wins over Vanderbilt and Kentucky, but nothing more.

I just watched the 1980 UGA team beat S. Carolina, on ESPN Classic.
Those guys were a team.
They were well coached and they all grew up wanting to be Bulldogs.
I wish today’s UGA players had that same attitude.
Also I wish we had Offensive and Defensive coordinators, that could get the job done. Like it was back then.

**********Some people need to wake up already***************
Name me one other SEC school that would want Bobo as their OC?

Name me one other SEC school that would want our strength and conditioning program (which is run by a football guy, not a strength and conditioning guy)?

CTG, I believe can get the job done as our DC. BUT we hired him one year later. Imagine if CMR fired
Willie after the 2008 season (you know, when he should have) and CTG was in his 3rd year at UGA instead of his second.

BSU had small offensive and defensive linemen, but yet they won the game in the trenches. I wish UGA would have asked their strength and conditioning coach some tips after the game. BSU was ready to go at all times, while we were so gassed it was all we could do to line up on the ball on defense. WE KNEW BSU ran an up-tempo offense; we even had THE ENTIRE OFF SEASON to prepare for said offense. Yet we failed in the 2nd half, you know, the half that we supposedly “readied” ourselves for all offseason.

It is so depressing. It feels like I was lied to all offseason about this team’s new direction. I personally think USCjr will roll over us and solidify that our coaching staff is indeed incompetent.

Either way though, I will be front and center in the student section screaming my brains out. All UGA fans should do the same despite a complete lack of faith in this coaching staff. Players like Orson Charles, Aaron Murray, Brandon Boykin, Drew Butler, and the likes of them play their a$$ off for this university. They deserve the support of the Bulldog Nation.

In other words, support the players not their incompetent/ so called coaches.

I think a lot of you Georgia fans got it right, the coaching was lacking and the team seems to lack discipline. Last year we were blowing out Wyoming (shocker) and (I beleive) Austin Pettis caught a 70 yard bomb from Moore and broke away and did a flip into the end zone. Next game he was suspended for the first half of the next game. Peterson doesn’t put up with that crap, the showboating, the “tweeting” etc. Cmon Boykins, have some class. It’s Richts job to keep his kids under control, not encourage it by saying “you better back it up now (chuckle). We don’t showboat, we just go out and play. UGA is to great a program to unravel, hopefully ya’ll get it figured out. All us Broncos are pullin for ya!

At the end of the season this will look like a good result for UGA. At least they stayed competitive against a top 25 team. In a few weeks, farther down the road to another losing season, that won’t look so bad. UGA is an undisciplined team led by an undisciplined coach.

CMR…I hear what you are saying….and I also hear what you are not saying. And until you get this sir….your chances of remaining the coach at UGA are slim to none…and slim’s getting ready to hop on that jet.

You might try putting more emphasis on being able to run the football. If you are so worried about the pass protection….try doing a better job at the running the ball so as to lessen the 3rd and long situations. Novel idea….now aint it!

It looks painfully clear to me that CMR does not place enough emphasis on winning games in the trenches. Just becuase they are big players and you hire a new strenght and conditioning coach does not mean you can abandon the teaching of fundamentals to these kids. Where are you man? We no longer have AJ….you have got to be able to run the football first and foremost and int starts with the O line. CMR just does’nt get it.

If you watched the game, it was kinda simple….we got man-handled at the line of scrimmage…period! No sugar coating, etc. Our offensive line is just that: offensive. They’re “fair to middling” on a good day. Defensively, we’re so busy trying to learn new stuff that playing good ball hasn’t been incorporated into the mix yet. Get a damn LINE, and put some folks to plug gaps on the defense!! They out hustled us, overpowered us, outsmarted us, etc. We fixin’ to tote an ass-whoopin’ next week, too. I’m not a fair-weather friend, just a realist who see’s us as we are—middle of the pack!

Really, dreadlocks, really, dreadlocks, freshmen at that, helmets coming off every other play….2 players with the same number, I’ve never seen that before…players asking to come out because they’re out of shape or fatigued, players with cramps in the first half, no discipline, players not knowing what to do, no blocking, no rushing, very little receiving, no blitzing, who’s running this team…..sickening

It seems that the hardest thing for all us Dawg fans to accept is not the loss–it’s that we couldn’t come up with a new way to lose. I’m a fan, and I’ll support the team the way I have for over 45 years. Each program runs thru its cycles and then levels out to a fairly consistent standard that we all can accept. UGA is not, and has never been, an elite program on the national stage. But we have been a first tier SEC team, and that alone will give us national standing and a shot at a national championship over time. The real question for the administration is what standard are they willing to accept now. We have to give CMR the run of the season. Losing the first two games to ranked teams on an upswing is bearable. But if the poor coaching, preparation, and play continue, the administration needs to tell us and show us what they expect from this program. We may be surprised to find out that they don’t expect anything better.

Our O-line blocking was very poor. I thought the D played well in the 1st half.
Seems like we decided to play a soft zone in the 2nd half and Moore just picked us apart. I expected the Dawgs to put up much more of a fight and be much better prepared. Seems like we have underachieved ever since Bobo became OC. Demote him back to QB coach and let Richt call the plays again. We were winning games back then. I dont think firing Richt in the middle of the season is the answer. I know we had a lot of young players playing and mistakes were likely but I thought the effort was not what it could have been. I saw flashes of brillance in some of our freshmen. The offensive line play was the biggest problem that I saw and that is a big problem. Sure hope we can make some adjustments for South Carolina and at least be competitive the entire game. I really think Boise is a top 3 team.

It is funny how the only solution people have is to fire the coach or coordinator. That will only set us back more and we aren’t guranteed to get a better coach next time around. The chances are greater that we’d end up with another Ray Goff or Jim Donnan.

Once again…here we go: not coaching, play calling, etc. just a good ole ass-whoopin’ in the trenches. We have KNOWN for awhile we ain’t got the line, and that is ultimately where the game is won. They whipped us up front so badly it would take Shakespeare four quill-pens and a 55-gallon drum of ink to write about it! Even with all the new formations, the game starts w/the hosses up front! You get your butt kicked at the line of scrimmage, and the rest is history. How amazing Bobo. Richt, and everybody else would look if we could get the folks up front! They’re big, but outta shape, under-talented, and out hustled. I ain’t even sure Herschel coulda run behind ‘em……….
