It’s time to learn how to be good fans.

We lost the game to a very good team. The Dawgs will learn from it and immediately start preparing for next weekend.

Go Dawgs!

We need to stop all this negativity. Be a fan of the game and a fan of the Dawgs; win, lose, or draw.

All this whining is pointless and reinforces the rest of the country’s view that we are bad fans.

cmon people, u have to realize that talent and potential is only 10% of the game. There has to be solid coaching and solid gameplans to win in this game. UGA was simply outcoached and i think its time Bobo was replaced. His play calling has become way too vanilla, lol

Todd Grantham and this 4-3 is not the answer. No adjustments. Our defense looked lost all night long. The looked like a bunch of deer in the headlights. I hate to say this but I think it might be the coaching.

I hope the best for coach richt but it’s time for a change! What’s the point of winning the sec if you lost to Boise? Their is no pride their we still looked week out of shape and poorly coached. Bobo never changed any play calling ran the no huddle and kept going three and out and when Boise is running the no huddle our deffense got tiered and could not play. We don’t have the depth at to many positions to get run down that way.

Bobo has got to Go-Go! I’ve been wanting him fired for a few years now. He’s predictable. He’s boring. And some of his play decisions simply defy logic. End runs or up the middle on a 3rd and long – over and over again after it hasn’t worked all game. Really? I love Coach Richt but honestly! He should’ve fired Bozo when he let Willie Martinez go. And that decision was at least a year overdue! I was really fired up for this season and thought we had turned a corner. And maybe we have. But what bothers me isn’t just that we lost, but HOW we lost. This is what feels all too familiar and it dosen’t feel good.

Offense- Isiah Crowell needs to improve on his pass protection. #71 needs to quit giving us silly penalties.
Offensive line needs to improve on pass protection and assignments and most certainly get tougher with opening up holes.

It was even amazing if any back could get yardage with the way our OL played. BS was pretty damn tough and they were no push overs. So its not even fair to rate any of our RB’s with a top tier defense like Boise.

Richard Samuel played very good, Isiah did exceptionally well running the ball, Marlon Brown needs to step up and get more passes, Orson Charles was phenominal, #12 dropped alot of passes, Aaron Murray held the ball too long and over threw recievers, Malcome Mitchell cant wait n see how this kid developes,
OL is outta shape severly and has got to get tougher mentally.

Special Teams- Boykin had a great afternoon, Brannen Smith one of my favorite players made some bad tackles and seemed too scared to tackle. I also think that the players had to get use to the artificial turf.

Defense- I thought they played very well as a group. I hated the zone and thought we should have played some man to man and blitz alot more. Im not a coach but i wouldve blitz up the middle and/or from BS QB’s throwing side.

Why man-to-man? BS best recievers graduated to the NFL and their heisman hopeful threw to 9 different players, so he didnt have a favorite one to throw to and this wouldve been a great opportunity for Georgia to blitz and play man-to-man and confuse the QB.

Hey their running game didnt beat us, their Heisman threw short passes all nite long and yeah theyre were times their RB’s got a few breaks andf gained alot of yards but this QB played like Tebbo did at Florida.

Our offense had alot of 3 n outs and infact didnt get a 1st down til the 3rd quarter and that kept our defense out on the field alot. I saw alot of talent from our corners, LB’s and DE saturday but after while anybody gets tired if your offense isnt out on the field alot.

Establish the running game 1st. georgia and this will give the defense time to rest because it takes only a few seconds to throw the ball and it can come back n haunt ya with a no-huddle offense because your defense isnt getting enough time to rest.

I would just think about that when youre calling plays in the future. We needed to call more miss-direction plays on Boise and dump passes or screens because they were penetrating and teeing off.

Mike Bobo yet again does not know how to make adjustments during a game but even a blind man could see this, slow down the rush with screens (like they did with us) and that slows their rush down and dont do any draw plays if they are penetrating our lines.

Aaron Murray needs to get rid of the ball alot quicker and he had 3 opportunities to take off with the ball which i think he couldve had huge gains. Are they telling Aaron not to run with the ball?

I see there are basic concepts in a football game.
A. What do you do to slow down the rush by their defensive line?
B. How do you put pressure on a QB that primarily passes in a game?
C. Do you call passing plays toward their freshmen DB and expose their weaknesses?
D. How do you slow down a football team that produces alot of points?
E. Is Zone better or Man-to Man or do you Blitz more?
F. How do you combat a no-huddle offense?

These are questions that Georgia needs to address but i think that some of their coaches dont recognize their talent and arent utilizing them according to their gifts or their limitations. Adjustments are made because watever isnt working then youve got to find what will work and Georgia didnt.

If Crowell cant block then put another RB in the backfield to help or dont use him if youre gonna pass. If you arent having success running up the middle then try going outside or do more trap plays or more screens or mis-direction plays.

If they have a QB thats left handed put pressure on his throwing side and remember that most of his passes are in the middle of the field or his throwing side. Disguise your Defense more! When they are running a no-huddle offense put your defensive reserves on-the-ready at the sideline so that as soon as the play is over they can rush out onto the field.

If Richt does not immediately fire Bobo, then he needs to go. Bobo’s play calling seems to put Murray in desperate third down situations. I truly believe that if we had Boise States OC the outcome would have been different. Georgia clearly has the talent.

Next week South Carolina- Whether we like them or not this S. Carolina team is better than last years team and here they come.

They have a more balanced offense with both a running game and passing game. They are no fluke !
Georgia has got to do more disguises on Defense because Garcia is a smart QB and cant be fooled easily and we cant take their running game lightly.

This is where i think our LB’s will have the biggest test. If they blitz up the middle then Lattimore gets thru the 1st tier of our Defense, he will have a big game and this where the nose guard will be important.
We should only do corner blitzes and not LB’s for this reason.

I’d play man to man with Boykin and Smith then focus on stopping the run 1st. Put pressure on Garcia with corner blitzing and occassionally a safety blitz. When Garcia looks the Defense over he knows which play to run but if we disguise it then it will keep him guessing.

I think Georgia has gotten better with the front 4 and liked what i saw in the Boise State game. But they didnt have a Lattimore playing either so we’ll see, it’ll be a good test .

I wouldnt just jump off the train just yet Georgia fans, though the train seems destined to crash and come off the tracks, we’re still on the tracks without a conductor and hopefully we’ll find one soon.

Maybe I was meant to follow in my daddy’s footsteps and be the coach for Thomasville High School, why did I ever think I could coach on the college level. Athens is way too big of a stage, and Thomasville is a great place to raise my 10 kids. It was so adorable, my little boy’s first words were “Daddy, run run pass, run run pass!!!”. Running outside the tackles more than once or twice a game is for silly people, no??

Bottom line is if something’s not working… if a nail can’t be hammered in you pull it out. My playcalling is not working out, I call two between the tackles runs for 3 or 4 yards and then pass on 3rd and long because of another motion penalty or some other stupid mistake. The defense knows the pass is coming on 3rd and long and they defend it well and we have to throw the ball away (or throw a pick) because our receivers can’t get separation. I don’t know what else to do…this is clearly not working out. Firing Martinez wasn’t going far enough, let’s wade through another abysmal season and offer the job to Kirby Smart.

BoiseDawg, I take nothing away from them, they are good, Peterson has done a great job with that team, and they did us a favor, as Richt pointed out — they showed exactly where we need improvement to compete.

Unfortunately, it is preparation, coaching, blocking, pass rush and lack of depth on O-line and linebacker, and ain’t nothing we can do about that in one week. I pray Spurrier has messed with Garcia’s head enough the last couple of weeks he makes mistakes like the old Garcia. Otherwise, with no blocking and no pass rush kiss going back to the Dome in December goodbye.

What has precipitated the fall of the once mighty Dawgs…one word, two syllables….Bobo. UGA’s record under CMR prior to Bozo’s play calling…61-17, since the Bozo show came to town…35-18. Thats 26 additional wins with 1 less loss. The numbers speak for themselves. Richt should send a sign to the Dawg nation and can Bozo or demote him back to QB coach. Bobo is a nice guy, he’s just not a OC. Go back to calling the plays yourself CMR, you were good at it!

CMR said that they just beat us tonight and that they were a better team than us tonight. NO KIDDING. What gave him a clue. We have been getting whipped for several seasons by teams with less talent. There is no excuse for it. We are poorly coached. Can’t block, run the ball, tackle, cover pass routes, and we got whipped at the line of scrimmage all night. I AM SICKING TIRED OF IT.

* The NCAA needs to crack down on the long hair that is woven into a rope preventing the helmet from staying on the players head. I look at Richt especially to identify this issue and require a player to maintain hair length and thickness to wear their helmet correctly.

* It is sad that Richt recruits all of these 4 and 5 star players and gets spanked by BS who recruits average players at best. It isn’t until the BS coaches develop these kids and coach them up that theys perform so well.

* Richt and staff did NOT win the coaching battle. The Dawgs were spanked by BS!

Our Defense played a tremendous 1st half…. aside from giving them the ball in the closing minutes on an underthrown ball (Murray got knocked down) they were solid but had to have been on the field for at least 20 of the 30 1st half minutes.

The opening drive of the 2nd half was the killer no huddle, hurry up,, and no pass was more than 5-7 yards dink over us and yards after catch ..

what Bobo should have done to slow their D… dink and dunk it’s not a donut shop..

What happened to the “fire in the belly”??? Looks like the same ole/some ole from the poorly coached team. Poor offense, Terrible tackling-little coverage from the secondary makes for a long season. CMR again handles the “press” with this-They played good tonight-they just beat us.
When are we as the fans and alumni going to finally say enough is enough and stop going to the games. I for one am done!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn’t sound like a true fan, I know, but the disappointment has been coming for three years now. I’d rather spend my weekends enjoying my off time rather than being wound into a know by our unexplainable collapse.

Well, I have vomited up enough disappointment – time to enjoy the rest of the weekend To all true Dawg fans – I know we are all disappointed – all we can do is hope Mark can pull us out of this – Boise is a good team and could well play in a big bowl. By the end of the year we may not feel too badly about the loss but for now it’s just not the beginning to the season we wanted. I guess summer dreams are….once again…..over. It is time to fire Bobo. It is time to fire RIcht. It is time to jump off the summer Dawg bandwagon where you win the SEC and the National title.

Well….truth is…..Boise is now the 4th rated team in the country. THe Dawgs WERE the 19th rated team in the country. They were better. They were better coached. They won. You lost. The Dawgs better win next week….or all of you will jump off the bridge.

P.S. The Swamp was hot last night….and Florida Atlantic is not very good…..but….I can tell you this…..Florida under Muschamp is highly improved and extremely well coached. Weis is a genius at offense and Brantley looks like a different person. And the Gator defense is extremely fast and extremely talented. And Dominique Easley is the REAL deal…..reminds me of Nick Fairley from last year….but just a soph.

I have always defended Richt. I don’t think I will any more. While I don’t necessarily blame him for our pathetic offensive playcalling or the fact that our defense looked like a high school team against Keller, he is the boss of the OC and DC. Bobo should be long gone by now. His playcalling is really, really bad and predictable. As for the defense, not sure what to do there. I know we had injuries, but whatever. I am very, very disappointed in the way this season has started.

Came into town early to do some sightseeing, really loved Atlanta. You have got a great town, very impressed with everything down there. Thanks for having us (and I would have said that even if we lost). Have to say though, my favorite thing was going to the Georgia state game on Friday night. That little GSU team you’ve got is very exciting to watch and I have to say folks with no disrespect, their fans are far and away the nicest bunch I’ve ever been around. Honestly, I know UGA is steeped in tradition but for my money, I’d be at every Panther game if I lived here. Good luck in the SEC this year and who knows, we may see each other in the BCS later this year….or next.

Fire Bobo? I’m not so sure that it was the play calling..eg “run on 1st and 2nd down and pass on 3rd…” Yep, if you only get 1 or 2 yards running it and end up 3rd and long, it’s a passing down. That’s fundamental, so not necessarily CMB. We are supposed to run the ball; in the SEC you have to be able to run the ball. So, yes, we run on 1st and 2nd downs (heck, if you have a running game you run on any down; or run play-action). Admittedly, I’m not sure where he got that formation…with the RB standing next to the QB; as opposed to our usual Power I. We just had way too many 3rd and longs…and Muray just wasn’t as sharp as we thought he’d be (not getting rid of the ball/taking sacks, accuracy).

I was disappointed mostly in the team just not seeming to be ready to play and the D getting gassed in the 3rd qtr. They did seem ok in the 4th. We come out and can’t do diddlee on our first possession; just looked totally unprepared; off sides, procedure, time out. When we elected to receive the first kickoff, I wondered if CMR knew something I didn’t; I thought he’d realize we needed to start on D and let the O get settled down, especially with Samuel, Crowell, and Figgins in the backfield. But it ends up the vaunted O line just aint what it should be.

How ’bout those “beasts” on the D line we salivated over all summer (Geathers and Jenkins)? We just could not stop BS’s offense. Is the 3-4 just not suited for D1 football…or is it Grantham and the other coaches not coachin’ em up? Losing Tree was costly. Still…

I don’t know if it was play-calling so much as the team just not looking prepared. I guess they were “poised” enough, but just too many mistakes, blown calls, sacks, hurries, time outs, dropped passes….

Too many of y’all are ready to toss in the towel over the first game of a long season. We just lost to the #5 ranked team in the country; a loss that was kinda expected about everywhere except Dawg Nation. Yes, BS is that good. My hat’s off to em.

Now, it’s time to get ready for SC. Find a way to get to Garcia and hopefully slow down Lattimore. And, look prepared and ready to play.

If this is Georgia being on the “Cutting Edge” of football and football strategies, then I want to go back to the 80’s. Bobo clearly cannot read the defense from the booth and call the play in. He is marginalizing Aaron Murray’s potential to read defenses and make his own adjustments. Huddle up, call a play or two plays, then audible if necessary. Bobo is not capable of running this style of offense. I don’t like the players looking to the sideline for a play call. He may be going no huddle, but the play calling is the same. Two runs up the middle for short yardage then pass on third down. Samuel doesn’t know what left and right is. Did not see any three tight end sets. The best run came on a sweep with Figgins as the lead blocker. Should have done that some more to get Crowell on the edge. O-Line is actually too big which makes them slow. Murray is far from becoming an elite QB. He may set a lot of records like Zier, but doesn’t look like he can win the big one. He seems to get nervous if tight situations. Tavares King made caught his share of deep balls last year. Looks like he replaced his hands bricks last night.

Two years ago Bob called plays for Joe Cox like he had Stafford’s arm. Now his is calling plays for Murray like AJ is still catching the ball.

Charles is a stud. Malcom Mitchell was impressive. Crowell will not be able to run up middle with this o line, so they better figure out how to ge thim to the edge quickly. Need to run out of the pistol formation. Our line is too slow for these delayed draws left and right. Need more screens too.

Mark Richt got out coached by Chris Petersen (my choice to replace Mark last year)
Mark is a great guy if you need a 5th for Bible Study but he needs to take some time off and focus on his ministry. He doesn’t have the heart for SEC in the trenches / take no prisoners Football…look at Nick Sabin, Les Miles, Steve Spurier…other teams love to hate those guys..you can’t get a lukewarm response from anybody about Richt. My point is if you think the guy is going to get ahead and keep his foot on the peddle you fear him…nobody fears a Mark Richt team..he gets 2 touchdowns up and puts in the scrubs until the other teams back in the game…He should have fired BoBo 2 years ago …. it must be his ministry to let this guy keep coaching because he couldn’t coach a 3A High school team in Florida with that predictable excuse for an offensive scheme. The old school SEC… (here’s where I’m going,see if you can stop me) is 5 years obsolete and so is Richt…I guess we will have to suck through another laughingstock 6-7 year… and I would rather not go to a bowl than get our hats handed to us by a MAC team on Dec 1st in the Toilet Bowl …AGAIN!!

Flat tire….

My brother lives in Gainesville and stayed home last night to watch both the Georgia and Florida games. He grew up in Georgia as well and likes Georgia as his second favorite team as well. His comment: “Richt shows no emotion on the sidelines and looks like he does not know what to do on the sidelines during a game to fix problems.” Obviously, neither do his assistants. He also said Georgia’s OL and DL looked slow with no quickess, and that Georgia tackled poorly and looked constantly confused on the field”…….and that reflects a lack of coaching. On the other side….Florida looked extremely quick on both sides of the ball last night….well prepared…..and excecuted extremely well…..and both Muschamp and Weis were doing a lot of in-game coaching on the sidelines last night.

Halftime adjustments. UGA seemed to make NONE. Boise State figured out that we could not cover a 5-yard hook pass and ran that play down our throats. What execution on the opening second-half drive, and our pathetic time-out did nothing.

Richt has not a clue how to adjust to what is going on, or to counter the other team’s spotting our tendencies and exploiting them.

5-yard hook passes all the way down the field. Unbelievable.

Coach Richt is disappointed in our pass protection, really?? Bobo called how many long passes on 1st down that failed? Two or three times to Tavarres King who couldn’t get behind the defender! Sotheby’s. We run it up the middle on 2nd down for 3 yards, and have 3rd and 7 or more. Everyone in the building knows your throwng it then. Coach Richt, news flash, I could call the right defense every time in that situation.

Boise was ranked #5 for a damn reason, we were 6-7 last year. Perspective folks. Was I disappointed and andgry of course but we have at least 11 games left to play this year and anything can happen.

I think the Gators….based on what I saw last night in coaching and execution…..Florida is just as good as South Carolina. But I think the SEC will be won by a team from the West….most likely LSU, Bama, or Arkansas. With MSU being a darkhorse.

P.S…..for those thinking Mullen will come to Athens….forget that. He is not leaving those Dawgs for these Dawgs. He is building a strong program down there. He might leave for Ohio State, however.

I had my UT friends texting me last night telling me its just one game. So we wait 9 months for this to start and after 1 night we throw it all away. That is funny.

Red and Black Dawg specifically, and a couple of others, I’m really glad to see you come on and post, and express your disappointment. The rest of the crowd, Alt and others will bide their time, then come on and try and make sense of what happened, yet again, Saturday night. This Dawg won’t say the season is over but I have zero hope that these coaches will change a thing, they had all off season to do that and absolutely nothing changed. Same weak game plan, same weak performance. Both sides of the ball.

After watching this show for the last few years, the first indication that it was business as usual was the first running play of the night, the dreaded play action hand off, up the middle, you know the one where the back has absolutely no momentum to carry into the line, or the defenders for a two yard gain. I looked at my wife and told her at that point, sos. As far as football goes, just so disappointing. Looking around the dome, at all the faces of those who were so hopeful told the story. Just a lot of people with blank looks on their faces, shaking their heads. I had really hoped we would come out and try to establish a “power” running game. How many toss sweeps did we run with Figgins leading the way? Screen passes? Quick slants over the middle? Shovel passes? What are we paying Bobo and Richt for?

Congratulations Boise, maybe this will be your year. Me, I will be spending a lot of time this fall outside with my four year old, my grandson, and family. I’ve seen enough of football already. Mark Richt, pack your bags and leave quietly, your time is done as far as I’m concerned.

Crowell tip-toed to the line and wanted to accelerate once he saw daylight. That’s fine in high school, but in big-boy college football you have to explode THROUGH the D-line. You will rarely see daylight.

I don’t want to bash Crowell here, because he’s just a kid…Richt is to blame because he’s the one who put him in the situation of being the savior at running back in HIS FIRST EVER GAME.

Geez…I am so sick and tired of this play-calling. We are blaming it on Bobo..fine. If it is CMR’s game plan, then that is where the blame belongs.
I know this is blasphemy so hear me out….with our talent since 2001…Spurrier would have three National Championships since 2001.

The Florida Defense did look good, actually they are loaded. However the offense looked quite average. I know you are going to come back with some names and stats, but the common post game notes were: Florida Defense attacked, Florida Offense without that dominating power that will beat teams like LSU and Alabama. Charlie needs a few more weapons to make his mark on this group.

I think I love SLCDAWG!(Not in the Gay way) but this is Passion, the real fan that wears his heart on his sleeve and sees the obvious. GEORGIA IS CLEARLY NOT GOOD, and it’s obvious folks that we need some major changes in this offense, this defense, this team! Aaron Murray isn’t that good, and I think it needs to be said. He holds the ball to long, locks in on Charles when the play isn’t there, and never looks to dump down to the RB’s. Lets be honest come next year Mark Richt gonna have a Dilemma of Him or Lemay, and honestly the Mason kid can play to, but he’s gonna do to them what he did to D.J. Well, that certainly wasn’t the team I was dreaming about. These Dawgs look as soft as single ply Charmin. What I saw last night was zero toughness, the usual Bobo 5 play offensive playbook, same old lack of discipline (3 penalties on the first drive? That’s just sad) and no endurance. I really can’t believe how soft the team looked last night, they were getting pushed around by smaller guys at every position all night long. Erk is rolling in his grave I’m sure to see the soft little girl pansies this team has become the last 3-4 years. Maybe they should all quit football and go for ballet scholarships or something. Maybe we should just let the cheerleaders play, I bet they’re tougher than the softy soft team we saw out there last night.

Trying really hard to realize that it was just one game against a really good team but I just didn’t see anything last night to make me think anything has changed or is going to change or be better than last year. We are without a doubt way too soft to compete in the SEC.

If we started out 2-0 we would have a delusions of grandeur, 1-1 with the victory against Carolina in the SEC and we would have taken it. So we still have a chance. Hey they looked like crap I will say it. From schemes to executing the schemes it was a mess. They 4th down we should have kicked the FG, felt like CMR let the UCF call affect his judgement. The size difference on the lines was muted by schemes, leverage and execution. They have a Heisman Trophy calibur QB, we are searching for our Identity. We should not be to shocked at the end result here.

What is with Bobo’s obsession with going long on first down? It never works and we end up going three and out. This was once again another extremely predictable Bobo offense. He did nothing to take advantage of mismatches. We have a 520 lb. backfield and yet not a single toss sweep. Bobo did nothing with Figgins… not a single screen. Marlon Brown had 8 inches on one of Boise’s CB’s and yet only a couple of balls were thrown his way. Tavarres King had a miserable game.

There is no way UGA can be a Top 10 program again with Mike Bobo being our OC!

I am a d line coach at a small college and i use to do speed and agility training for high school, college, and professional athletes of all sports but mainly football and most of my business was with high school athletes. I have athletes at Bama, GT, UCONN, FL, Miami and other small colleges across the southeast. In training these guys i have got to be part of the recruiting process with them so i have met pieces of every coaching staff in the SEC. I am telling you in the coaching circles in the SEC the UGA coaching staff is a joke. I am coaching now but i keep up with all the kids i have trained and being a speed and agility coach i always ask the guys about the S&C program at their university. One of the first kids i ever worked with that made it to a SEC program is starting at BAMA now for his second yr on the Oline. I like to compare his S&C program to some guys i know at UGA and I am telling you now Our S&C program is not any better than it was. I have a degree in kinesiology and i am certified through NSCA with a CSCS so i know a little bit about what i am talking about and i dont understand how you hire someone at the college level with no type of prior experience in S&C. AT this level you have to know the science behind what you are doing and i feel like our S&C staff does not. You bring in former athletes to assist that is fine if they are qualified for that position just bc Thomas Brown can lift a ton of wt does not mean he knows how to design a program. Usually the best S&C coaches are nerds about lifting they know everything they are not ex athletes they are people who are in love with lifting and all the science that surrounds it. We were cramping last night in the dome. We were tired in the second quarter. Boise was not. All i heard all summer was how hard the workouts were and that worried me. Anyone can make a workout hard anyone off the streets can make someone throw up. Does what you do in the gym produce results on the field. Whenever i am training someone on the forty yard dash they should leave the workout wanting more not exhausted and unable to move. This way their body recovers and the CNS is not shot so your body performs the lifts at 100% so that is transfers to 100% on the field. It sounds like we were doing some kind of beach body workout. I am not saying they should never get pushed to the limit they should but from reports every workout was brutal and we looked tired befor the game even got going good. Sorry for the rant but our program is headed downhill fast picking up speed. I hate our coaches sideline demeanor and we never maked adjustments i would love to coach against UGA. They never adjust to what you are doing never

Got to love the folks wanting to blame the Murray kid for the loss. In actuality did anyone count the number of balls dropped by reciever? Murray got hit so many times as the was throwing the ball or had to adjust the throw to avoid an oncoming rusher and the ball sailed.

This has more to do with the play calling and game plan. I wish someone would watch the FSU game and their game plan or the MSU game plan. Those two teams were pitiful 3 years ago. In less than 2 years they are spreading the field, have power runners to compliment their scat backs, use their tight ends and create space.

Got to forget blaming the quarterback and look at the coaches.

I am embarrassed to be a UGA fan. What did we do all summer. I am having a hard time swallowing this loss. It looked like we were playing Bama or LSU. Thank the Lord they are not on the schedule or Arkansas. I am telling you MSU is gonna be ugly SC might get bad. It is like a car wreck you watch us with your hands over your eyes but you peak through your fingers.

The contrast between the2005 Boise-UGA game and this game is hard to miss. UGA simply crushed Boise in 2005 and Kellen Moore barely broke a sweat in this game. Did he ever get hit last night?

SC game is key to the season. If we go down 0-2 we’ll struggle to be .500 again.

Lot of talk about Bobo. Richt has, or course not chosen the best coordinators in the world. But then look at what Richt is as a coach? Any wonder? But this “fifth choice” Grantham, has coached like a fifth choice after-thought desperation move by Richt. Uhmmm, wonder why Smart, Chasin, Foster, et.al., turned Richt down to be the D.C.?

Bigger question is why would, Ray Drew, Isaiah Crowell, John Jenkins, Malcolm Mitchel, et. al. sign with Richt? Anyone ever noticed how UGA recruits are super high school and later great pros, but sleep walk while under Richt and the greats Grantham and Bobo and Martinez (while there)?
I have a lightbulb idea. Duhh, could it be because these coaches know in their own minds they are inept and clueless, but are just hoping these good recruiting classes can win for them anyway?
Fact so many ex-UGA players are good pros proves its not that they were not good recruits.
Which still doesn’t explain why they would sign with Richt and go down with his ship.

Another, depessing thought, what if the UGA search committee does its usual, Goff, Donnan, Richt job of selecting Richt’s successor? Any reason to optimistically believe it will be better? Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Florida search committees could, hint, hint be consulted to see how they did it

The funniest thing we saw last night was: Boise is up 35 to 21 and driving with less than 6 minutes to go and it is 3rd down and 7 or so yards to go. Half or more of the UGA fans have left and the others are sitting on their hands. What did Mark Richt do?

He is waving his big play chart up in the air trying to get the fans to make some noise. That picture is worth the price. Empty stands and Mark Richt is being the Head Cheerleader.

From the big perspective, Boise St. played up to their preseason assessments, both team and individual. The smaller DL was quicker than Georgia’ OL, they ran some twists and stunts that pretty much nullified the power running game and they cashed in for 6 sacks (at least 3 were coverage sacks, I think.)

I was watching the line play, and a few of them were telling. Boise State’s 5-11 center consistently got under the pads of the NT, which meant they didn’t need to double team him all the time. Two back-to-back plays stood out in that regard: Boise St. had the ball around their 20 on 1st down. The Broncos ran a running play off the left guard. The center stood Geathers up in his tracks and he was on his heels, unable to get any push. The RB went right by him and followed the left guard’s block on the LB for 6 or 7 yards. The next play, Moore dropped back to pass, and immediately the center cut Geathers at the ankles, dropping him flat, right on the line of scrimmage; no push at all in the middle of the field. Moore completed the pass for over 10 yards.

Another play late in the game: Boise St. pulled their guards to the left side, Potter blocked his DE, and that 2-guard escort led the RB to a critical big gain. Georgia’s OL players may have been relatively fast, although that wasn’t displayed during the game. Their quickness was not evident. Boise’s OL was quick, and their trap plays were effective. Their DL was also quick, got off blocks and held the line, taking away the inside running game.

First of all I’ve had enough of Touchdown Jesus and his regime.Having been in this league longer than most of his fellow coaches, UGA should be a lot better than they have been under CMR. Les Myles wins a NC. Myer comes to the SEC and wins a couple of NCs. Saban wins a NC and Chizik comes in and wins a NC. And all CMR is say is gosh darn we should have played a lot better than we did. How long will the Bulldawg Nation put up with this bs. I am so tired of his bs. I can’ watch the Dawgs any more I’m done.

Delbert you are right. For a month UGA fans pointed to how small the OL was for BSU. I was leery of jumping on the argument as football in the trenches is so much about leverage. He who gets lower will generally win the battle. Sound technique and leverage go a long way in determining who wins those battles. Last night was the perfect example. 5′11 center up against 6′6 noseguards and it wasnt even close all night.

I too am not completely sold on Murray. I dont think he played well enough for us to win. Do you also notice that (contrary to M. Stafford) he must look to the sideline for the next play call after he checks down opposing defenses? This concerns me. Is he not smart enough to read defensesto do this himself? Stafford was a pro at it when he was at UGA. The kid’s obviously got athletic talent, but does he really have the brains to play QB??????

I love football, but can’t really address it technically, However, two things were obvious even to me.
One refers to a post made in the early hours on this site: brains beat brawn most of the time. UGA recruits and signs guys who are bigger than barns; BSU appears to recruit guys who are stronger in the brain box. I think football is more of a cerebral game than most people (especially Bulldog fans) think it is. Number two: did my eyes deceive me or were the UGA players wearing leotards??? I was watching on a laptop without the best reception, but I think that’s what I saw. How can football players dressed as ballerinas expect to win? Having said that, it’s true that ballet dancers, male and female are better conditioned than the majority of football players. But really, the players had to be embarrassed to be seen on the playing field in those ghastly uniforms – probably why they kept from making first downs, so they could run off asap. Whoever made the decision on uniforms should have to wear them!!!

@KeepDreaming — Murray looking at sidelines is by design of staff. Notice half or more college teams do that these days. I HATE it. Line up, act like taking a snap, then the whole team stands up and looks at the sidelines. That’s not football, it’s Red Rover or Tiddly Winks. Take that goofy crap outta the game. Since teams apparently have so much time, reduce the 35-sec clock to 25. OR just make a penalty to get out of the “set” position once you get in it.

1. No player discipline (celebrating for routine tackles, off sides, penalties in critical downs)

Mark Richt after game, what should have been said:

Ladies and Gentlemen, we were beaten by a better prepared team tonight. We as coaches did a poor job of getting our players ready to play. We as an entire staff, starting with me need to look at ourselves and determine if we have the right skill sets to make this program move forward. If we do not we need to make immediate changes to our staff including me. I have done a terrible job with taking players we and others have evaluated as great players and not coaching them to the level that is required to compete in the SEC. Our previous 10 games against ranked opponents is horrible. Our last 14 games overall have been horrible. And the horrible starts with me. I am not doing a good enough job as head coach to instruct my staff on how thing are to be done.

Let me go onto to say that we have the talent on this squad to compete. It is not the players, it is the staff that is in place and our game plans we have developed that will put our players in winning situations.

Our strength and conditioning program is getting better, however as you witnessed tonight we are not on the same level as others and it showed during the course of the game. When players get tired they make mental mistakes to overcompensate. When players are tired they get injured and we suffered some devastating injuries tonight. That falls on me as a head coach to get our team ready physically to play.

We are going to come into mondays practice with a “every position open” competition. I do not care if we had plans to redshirt a kid or not, if he shows he is ready to compete and knows how to play his assignments he will play and play alot.

I am going to visit Mr. McGarity on Sunday and let him know I expect more of myself and my staff and I know he expects more of us as well. If I am not capable of getting the job done then I should be replaced. I have 11 more games this season to prove our worth and if we are worth keeping on as coaches. I plan to work hard to do so. If I do not then I will be out the door and allow someone to come in here with a different paradigm who can correct the problems we did not.

I give us a grade of “D” tonight, I give that grade of D because our special teams and punter did a heck of a job and by giving us an “F” would be telling the punter and special teams they failed as well when they did not.

It’s ashame to hear “fans” attack a football coach and it’s players because they lost a football game to a team ranked higher than them. How about we be a people who support their team in wins and losses. Support the kingdom work of the head coach as he changes these young men’s lives. Imagine a coach like Coach Mark Richt pouring into these young men and teaching them how to handle situations when they win and when they lose. Sure we all love a good win but this is about much more than just football. These young men’s lives will be changed, for the better, forever.

Obviously I am here more than you. I have stated this a hundred times. I was a Georgia fan before I went to the U of F and became a Gator fan. I remain a Dawg fan….except when Georgia is playing Florida. I watch Georgia every single time they play when Florida is not playing at the same time (and I am at the Swamp. My brother is also a Georgia fan, and my sister went to Georgia. My brother recorded the Georgia game and I just finished watcing the game.

When Richt came to UGA and the sec, the conference didnt have coaches like Saban, Meyer, Petrino.. Look what happened to the programs that hired these top caliber coaches.. Alabama goes from an average team to winning national title within a couple years.. Same with Florida at the time Meyer came in. It is obvious Richt is not on these guys level. The bar has been raised in the SEC and it is UGA made a coaching change to atleast compete.

I’m still wearing my dousche red shoes today. Coach T has the boys out running the military obstacle course and Coach Grantham is going to light into them later this afternoon after his lap band surgery. I’m rubbing in my Rogaine with Minoxidyl right now and still lookin good.. I may see my local HRS representative this afternoon to have a few more hairs to comb over next week. We’re gonna come out like the Canes with smoke and strobe lights. Crowell will have his coming out party if he can keep from falling all over himself in the backfield. What can you say about Richt and his program? MEDIOCRE is the only way to describe this coach, his coaching staff, and the state of his program. This guy has destroyed the program, and he continues to sit there and embarrass all UGA fans time and time again on national T.V. If this guy had any morals at all like he says he does, he would admit he can’t get the job done anymore, and he would resign. He would not sit there and continue to bring this program down any farther. He would give back his $3 million dollar salary and move on. @TampaGator…now I will agree with you there…the dawg fans do not accept losing, although it has been a too common pattern…You know I’m going to defend the dawgs and Coach Richt when people post what I feel are uncalled comments, especially about his religion…His religion should be left out of it and I got to believe you would feel the same way if it were your HC at florida…You know some of the stuff that was said about Meyer, regarding his health or his personal life…that was uncalled for in my opinion regarding any coaching he did last year…One thing I will say though is, I was not one that thought we were going to be all world, however, I didn’t expect some of the things I did or did not see last night…Thought we would be better up front on both sides of the ball…I was wrong…Our team also seems to have injuries at the worst possible positions of need, but I know that is football, but we have had more than our share compared to some…The lack of depth on our O-lines and at Lb’s are very discouraging, I hold the coaches responsible for that, understanding that some of it was out of their control..
Our Rb situation is dreadful…I said last recruiting that we needed to bring in at least 2 RB’s…didn’t happen and now the mess we are in is that we are depending on a very talented but young freshman to be the saviour, but we have no one else…Its unfortunate that R. Samuel is not a college Rb in my opinion…He is however one of the finest persons with the best attitude and team player we have…Willing to do whatever to help the team…I still believe he would serve us best if he continued to learn the Lb position, but at this point what additional damage would that do to this young man….Leave him at Rb and lets hope he will make some plays at some point, but until our overhis head OC puts us in some positions to win the results from Sat nights will continue…I still think Coach Richt has not forgotten how to coach, but his loyalty to his assistants will be his downfall….Of course at some point the coaches can only do so much….The players have to execute and ours just don’t do it consistently if we are to be relevent again in the SEC…As I said before we didn’t play a slouch of a team Sat, so until next week against SC I will be careful what I say, but right now, just full of frustration….go dawgs….

It is so easy to be critical of someone else when you have nothing to lose so many people make statements based on nothing more than their hurt pride. Boise State is a very good team and had their way with UGA. Why do so many of the comments on here refer to superior talent at UGA? Obviously Boise had better talent last night. I think Crowell did he best he could with what he had to work with and will have a very good season. The outcome of the game last night was pretty much as expected. I did however expect the D to put pressure on Moore. Good luck next week against USC. I expect considerable improvement and think that we have a chance to win, but USC should be at least a TD favorite.

I said it….and I will say it again. Meyer sacrificed the Florida team last year for money…..the 4 mil in salary in fact. He did not coach much at all last year (except on Saturdays) and put the team in the hands of Addazio….who was not an OC and had too many duties to be effective as the real head coach last year. He also did some things in his personal life that he is paying the price for doing. Meyer’s stress and health issues were directly related to his actions. He is obviously taking the time now to re-esablish his family relationships and get mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy again….and then will probaly go back and coach again….probably back home in Ohio next year.

Nothing was addressed in the offseason. The S&C still is garbage. All i heard all summer is how hard the new workouts are and i thought that was a warning sign. Anyone can make a workout hard, but can you make the workout produce results on the field of play. Our answer is no we were out of gas in the second quarter and were cramping in a dome envrionment before half time. Not one Boise player cramped up. At this level of play the S&C coach must have a ton of knowledge of the science of exercise. It is hard to improve someone who already runs a 4.4 and lifts 350 on the bench and squats 500. You have to know what you are doing to improve great athletes not be an ex videographer. Lets hire the ball boy to coach the O line cause he played center in pound ball.

I just watched the replay of that last down again……Murray had no chance on that play…..and he did look exhausted and totally frustrated with the effort of his OL on that play. It was more that the OL quit….not Murray.

By the way….if you are wondering…….I am still recovering from some minor surgery and have nothing better to do today that blog. But I still managed to visit The Swamp last night…..even though the wife didn’t think I should. But some things are just more important than health, right?

Dawgster first of all i have had many conversations with you last year but you probably dont remember cause it has been a while since ive been on here but i was making an observation and secondly my son plays football and has since he was four years old and is currently 15 and on the 9th grade team so i think i know what im talking about when it comes to football plus it helps also that i played football as well and if you would have read correctly i never specifically called him a quitter i said it appeared he quit on his team last night, not that he is a quitter.

Georgia WILL bounce back against SC – I don’t know about SC either as a team – they really struggled in the 1st half against a weakling like East Carolina. USC was looking pretty bad until Garcia came into the game. STILL EC put up 37 points and over 350 yards offense – with 250 yards RUSHING (against an SEC team). So – SC appears to be pretty weak on defense. This may be the coming-out party for Crowell.

@TampaGator…my comments regarding Meyer from last year were not pointed to anyone…I saw alot of comments from dawg fans, gator fans and others that I believe were uncalled for regarding any personal or health issues he had….Did that have an affect on his coaching…I can’t answer that, but thats what people are going to say, the same for coach Richt’s religion..Also, by the way Coach Richt and staff were going thru film this morning, however our game ended late last night so I assume that we would expect that they be allowed a few hours sleep before reviewing film….I believe most coaching staffs follow this agenda…..
At this point I honestly don’t have an answer for all of our problems..Are we as bad as we looked at times or is Boise St that good…Too early to tell at this point, but what bothers me is our continue lack of establishing what kind of team we want to be on offense….I have officially had to admit that Coach Bobo, although a very, very good recruiter and DGDog, is over his head and not using or adjusting to the talent he has….Its true that the players must execute, but I question whether we are being put in the right position to make those plays….One thing I do know, is Murray is more suited to run play action and roll-out type plays where he can use his feet…When he is in the pro-style shotgun formation I’m not sure he sees the field as well…At least that’s my opinion…go dawgs

Maybe this year, the Dawgs will come back strong and keep it up….at least until you reach JAX….and then afterwards. And maybe Richt will learn that close only counts when throwing horse shoes. we should have rolled Murray out of the pocket more and i thought that all last yr too. Our O line cant pick up blitzes so you have to move the pocket and i cant stand the play that Bobo loves where the wide receiver takes a step back and Murray throws the ball 25 yards down the line of scrimmage to gain two yards or lose two yards. I hate that flipping play. That only works when you play inferior teams. Bobo runs that play about 5 times a game. if it happens to work he will run it 10 times a game

Richt has been lost ever since Van Gorder left in 2004. There’s no stellar D coordinator to bail out his ACC-like offenses anymore.

No matter the reason – sickening. All off-season, spring, off season again – NO OFFENSIVE LINE. What’s wrong here? Dominated by a smaller, meaner defensive line who BROUGH IT – every down, a 5′ 11″ center dominates 2 – 350 pounders. Do not believe what you see about recruiting classes. Fight it out with Vandy for last place.

Ok, here’s my two cents. First, congrats to the Spud Studs, coach Pete, and the staff. You took a bunch of 2-3 stars and humiliated a star studded UGA in our own backyard! What great coaching and playing. Dawg fans, one word: equanimity, find some! We are all frustrated, but the team can’t quit, and don’t turn your back on the kids or the coaches. Turning on them will only make it worse. Constructive criticism and positive comments: the D looked better and we tackled better, but we have a long way to go imho. There were some issues to consider. Both of our inside LBs got hurt, one safety was suspended and the other got hurt, and we wound up with a number of walk-ons in there, and it was noticeable when we really got on the roller skates in the second half. We looked better early. Was that the cause? Don’t know, but it couldn’t have helped. J. Jones showed some flashes of brilliance. We didn’t play well enough, but I do see some hope on D. Offense was a disaster. We started with what? 3 penalties in the first three and out? We looked like we simply weren’t ready to play. Our line failed to open holes, and they failed to protect Murray and they looked mystified–we have to coach better. I know we were very thin, and we had an injury. I didn’t like the play calling, either. The up tempo thing looked like it caused more confusion for us than it did for Boise! Crowell is very green, and he reminded me a little bit of Ealey. Serious time in the weight room, better knowledge and experience, and more confidence (maybe a haircut to keep his helmet on), and I think he might become a very fine UGA TB. It is going to take some time. He will continue to get better with more play, but I sure wish Malcome could get healthy. My chief concern with TK was ball skills; last night was a step backwards imo. Brown looked good, but obviously got hurt early. Mitchell looks good, and I didn’t notice Bennett at all. We have to get guys in there that can catch it, though. Maybe it is Mitchell and Bennett, and maybe it is Lynch at TE and Charles at WR. What he lacks in speed, he makes up for with size. I think he could play it if we can’t find somebody who can catch. Charles looked pretty sharp at times. Let’s get the playmakers on the field. My biggest gripe was play calling. Look, we know Murray can play. Looking at last year and his HS tapes, his strongest suits are his wheels and his ability to scramble and find the open man. We have problems with protection, so what would you do? I would call bootlegs, reverse bootlegs, rollouts, screens, bubble screens, and delayed screens, anything to neutralize the weak protection. I would do swing passes, delays out of the backfield, and anything to get the ball to the RBs in space where they don’t have to rely on holes being opened. Admittedly, I don’t have 1% of Richt’s or Bobo’s experience, but those seem like very obvious changes based on the reality of our situation. We have to improve tremendously to match last year’s record. Again, hats off to Boise. And no, I won’t turn on the kids or the coaches! We didn’t do half as well as I thought we would, but Go Dawgs anyway.

SLC Dawg I feel you pain. Thoroughly out coached and out classed. The play calling on offense was almost comical. Nice penalties in the first series to put yourself in a field position hole. That’s poor coaching. An how about the tackling angles on returns? Imagine if Spurrier had this level of talent.

Yada, Yada, Yada… Same old play or lack there of and same same old wore out comments from CMR. What the heck were you doing since that pathetic showing against Central Florida. UGA looked as unprepared to begin the season as they did when the season ended. Watching the game I could not honestly see any area of improvement by this football team and CMR is responsible for that and the AD continues to allow medocrity.

Chip – has anyone mentioned the early slips etc. last night? Hard to go to battle without traction… shoes and helmets coming off like I’ve never seen before. I could care less about color, design – whatever, but performance of nike pro combat was disappointing. Tavarous King was disappointing too – Mitchell should start along w/ Wooten. I liked Murray’s rhythm in the latter part of the game, and would like to see an air attack early in the SC game, with Zander Ogletree or Bruce Figgins blocking, along with our o-line!

Before too long we are all going to go insane according to definition.. We keep watching a poorly coached team make the same mistakes over and over and over while expecting different results. This coaching staff has had every opportunity to make adjustments but we keep seeing the same BS.. How many times are we going to watch the slow developing run up the middle for little or no gain.. And why would you run that play on fourth and 1 when you have been getting stuffed all night.??

UGA’s penalties in the first series were eerily similar to those from Reggie Ball to start a game during the Chan Gailey/Reggie Ball era that UGA fans love to belittle.

Georgia is one of the top 25 elite programs in the country. If they weren’t, they would not be able to get the top recruiting classes they get every year. The problem is not that they aren’t ellite, they are. The problem has been coaching up the elite talent they recruit, which Richt hasn’t except for one year….2006…..and even then, he should have won the national title, not just the Sugar Bowl. They were the best team in the country at the end of that year but did not ge the opportunity to prove it. Florida is a top 10 elite team because they have transitioned the elite talent they recruit into multiple championships in recent years.

I guess all you Dawg fans have heard that Sharieff Floyd was ruled ineligible before the game last night for Florida. I guess you are too angry at your coach to rip into him today. His ineligibility has nothing to do with his recruitment or anything related to agents or Florida boosters. My guess is that it has something to do with earning money or taking money or benefits inappropriately as related to NCAA rules. I am sure he will be asked to pay back or give back and will get his eligibility back. But you have to wonder what is going on in these kids minds…..that they would risk making millions in the NFL for a one time opportunity to gain something outside of the rules. But, a lot of these kids come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and are tempted by opportunities that present themselves. Something needs to be done, but I am not sure what that something is. If Floyd’s eligibility is not restored by the NCAA, Florida’s depth of the DL become more of an issue this year, especially if someone goes down with an injury.

Speaking of the Florida DL…..I watch Dominque Easley last night…..and he reminds me of Nick Fairly….same size and quickness….motor never stops. Even the ESPN announcers made that comparision during the game.

Tampa, I had not heard that, but I’ve been busy and had company during our game and didn’t get to concentrate that hard. I have had my eye on Easley since the HS all star game–nobody could block the guy. Not a guarantee, but I suspect he is going to be a great one. Funny enough on your earlier comments, I have a son in Gainesville, and he went to his first Gator game last night. He said, Dad, it was fun and exciting but our (Gator) fans are really obnoxious! They boo the other team when they run out on the field even when they stink (it was FAU) and they don’t let up with the abuse even when they are ahead by a mile. I said son, there is a reason UF wins the most obnoxious fans in CF award every year!

Boise State’s starters on the defensive line were outweighed 329-282 on average, but the Broncos recorded six sacks, harassed quarterback Aaron Murray much of the night and limited the Bulldogs tailbacks to 72 yards on 22 carries (3.3 yards per carry) with a long of 12 yards.

Where was the vaunted SEC dominance? The whole recruiting class rankings are way overrated.

Well no wonder Murray looks like a dark headed Joe Cox he has Bobo coaching him, Bobo is no QB coach, he was coached under Vince Dooley and all he knew was to run the ball.
Now for the rest of the team, it was the same ole,same ole, no one could line up right, arm tackling and so on. This is all coaching they had 8 months to get ready for this and to come out look this pathetic. NEED CLEAN HOUSE NOW AND HOPE FOR THE BEST THE REST OF THE YEAR. GOD HELP US!!

@UGA Alumnus….you were gith on the money. Good team that beat UGA and much more experienced and it showed why they were ranked #5 and UGA was ranked 23rd.

Play calling could have been better for sure but what else is new. Give Bobo one more game….

I’ve been reading about this new drill called wind sprints. It’s quite an amazing drill. Your players run a series of sprints over short distances to build up their conditioning. Who’d a every thunk that, I know I’d never heard of it before. Relax folks, we’re be in shape next year.

Patheitc excuse for a pass defense. 10 yards, 10 yards, 10 yards, 10 yards. TOUCHDOWN Broncos. Grantham hasn’t proved a dang thing to me or anyone else for that matter. With the money he is getting paid, and the attitude he carries, he isn’t worth a damn. The run defense was pretty great in my eyes, but pass coverage was atrocious just like last year. I don’t understand where our pass rush was, considering they have a Heisman type quarterback that has made a living picking apart defenses.

I still laugh at all the comparisons to size, because this just goes to show you a well coached team that plays hard can beat out athleticism and size every time. Our coaches obviously need to get more emotional and spread it through the players. We came out flat, and were pretty awful. Orson Charles, hair do aside, and Malcolm Mitchell had amazing games, as well as Jarvis Jones on defense. Could name a few more if our ugly ass jerseys actually had names of players, seeing as we have some new guys out there.

Sorry to keep running my mouth, but it hurts putting so much anticipation into this for nine months and having to deal with the same stuff that has been happening. Crappy defense, no emotion out of our head coach, and another whipping at the hands of a team we had potential to play with. Pretty sad when the fans have more emotion than the coaches that are engrossed in this every day of their lives.

Your right Contractor. Our defensive philosophy is to read and react. Let the other team do what they want and maybe we will get lucky. Sitting back and letting him carve us up was just horrible coaching, but should we expect anything different from this bunch?
