The countdown clock running most of this summer is almost down to all zeroes for Georgia and Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. I think we can all agree that we’re glad it’s finally here.
For us sportswriters, you really do get to the point that you’re tired of writing about what might happen and what could happen and about this player and that one. We, too, just want to see a game played so can analyze things from there. We’ll all get to do that come 8:15 p.m. tonight.
Before we do that, I wanted to make sure you had everything you might want to read up on about the game. Both Tim Tucker and I have been writing about this team and this game pretty much daily for the last month and often multiple times per day. Below I’ll list the most recent and most pertinent blogs and stories so you can just click on them in case you missed them or want to revisit a certain story or subject.
In the meantime, I’ll wrap up some household chores before heading down to the Dome to chronicle what promises to be an exciting night of college football. If I don’t see you down there I’ll see you here on the blog before the game.
Now, for some Boise-Georgia talk . . .

Looks like the best of the 12:00 start games is Utah St. at Auburn or Northwestern at Boston College. I don’t think Dan Persa is going to be able to play, though.

Just hope they GATA like they did in 2005.

Watching ESPN gameday and getting ready for football for the day. Just watched the segment on Bama long snapper Carson Tinker. He and his girlfriend were swept up and carried 100 yards during the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa. He got hurt bad but survived. She was 22, beautiful, and died. The devastation heaped on Tuscaloosa by the twister was unreal.
Lets pull hard for all the SEC teams today but keep football in perspective when doing so.
And good luck to the dawgs and the LSU tigers as they take on formidable out of conference opponents.

Herbstreet just picked Boise. Coach picked Georgia. Personally I believe we will be to big and fast for the smaller Boise. Close first half with Georgia pulling away in the second. See you at the dome.

Gee, who couldn’t guess that Urban Myer wouldn’t find something to criticize about Georgia. In this case it was Aaron Murray’s decision-making as a Freshman…wonder what kind of decisions that left-handed QB he had back at Florida was making back when he was a Freshman…oh yeah, he wasn’t playin’ much and when he was the only decision he had to make was whether or not he was gonna run left, right or up the middle.
Myer still hasn’t gotten over that end-zone thing, has he? Sure he called a couple of time-outs the next year to rub it in, but on that day, with that gauntlet having been tossed by Richt, he and his team didn’t respond, and plenty of us will always remember that…the narcissistic disordered jerk.

Dirty Dawg, At the gym and missed Meyer’s comments. Was that pretty much it? What is a little funny, is looking at Meyer’s decisions during the same year. I don’t think I’d be on ESPN criticizing anybody’s decision making over the last year or two if I were him! Go Dawgs!

I’m not getting personal there, talking about football decisions. Stayed with a center that must have 50 bad snaps, and he wouldn’t let his own QB line up in the same spot twice. We did have our problems, but so did he–arguably more problems with on-field decision making.

Sleaze man, how would you like to compare the two teams? Let’s be empirical, though. Do you think the UGA’s or GT’s (I assume that is your team) football program contributes more to the respective school? Georgia football funds an almost unbelievable amount of scholarships. Probably most student athletes can thank the football program for their schollys. How about average starting salaries over the last five years for player grads? I assume you do a little math. I have a feeling that Stafford’s 78 million, Greens millions, Morenos millions, and many, many more will put UGA way, way ahead. So, a little bit of analysis shows you are not only filled with hate, but pretty deceitful to boot. If GT isn’t your team, then tell us who your team is, and we will discuss it.
i have a question for you sec types

i just heard that the auburn tradition of covering toomers trees with toilet paper is one of the GREAT national traditions.
at what point will they say the same thing about the dawgs ‘tradition’ of trashing their campus and urinating on their library rug during game day?
hey it stands to reason… if covering a dying tree in toilet paper (hopefully not used tp) is a GREAT SEC tradition that trashing one’s campus and urinating on your library rug will be another proclaimed GREAT SEC tradition.
