Samuels has been recovering for awhile, noncontact etc. I think he’ll be good to go, they’re kust being cautious with him in practice and rightly so. I can’t wait to see him with Big Bruce out in front blocking… mixing it up with Muuray’s air attack (and scrambling ability) and Crowell’s finesse running. C’mon Saturday!!!!

Feel good about our chance to get constant pressure. Hoping for a repeat of when Hawaii came in overconfident feeling they could play with anybody, and a battered Colt Brennan saying we’ve just never seen that kind of speed before. GATA!!!!!!

Interesting chance for Grantham to make a statement.

Could also show up Bobo-Having one side of the ball playing winning ball and the other side not.

We have got to run the ball for about 125 + yards in order to win the game. no running game and murray is running for his life.

We also can’t let Martin get more than 100 yards either. gotta make them one dimensional

i think it’s gonna be close.

Richt seems confident by the interviews I’ve seen. He seems like he just knows something that us fans just don’t have a clue about. I think he likes where we’re at and apparently everybody is focused and ready to play ball. I just hope he runs the rock a lot against Boise because they won’t be able to withstand it all 4 quarters. They may make plays in the 1st and 2nd quarters, but if we’re ahead in the 4th, just run it down their throats.

Samuel will be ready and that’s 240 pounds of muscle and fast body coming at a defense. He’s also got tons of speed. People look at his weight and think he’s just a bruiser but he can split a defense as well and bust a big one. So we’ll have to see how it pans out. He scares me with the fumbles, but I have confidence in both Samuel, and Crowell to get the job done. Malcome might even break a few runs. We might have a 3-headed TB position mid-season.

Boise St. is a myth. They are much better than they were in 2005, but I expect the same result, a UGA win. Maybe not 48-13, but UGA wins by 2 TDs. And if UGA does not beat Boise, go ahead and issue Richt his walking papers. If UGA is the program it is suppose to be, then they have no business losing to a WAC/Mountain West team!

I bet he doesn’t go to Florida blogs, I bet he doesn’t go to Kentucky blogs, I bet he doesn’t go to Vandy blogs or any other team in the SEC. SC gets all the hype about winning the East, national title, and what not but what have they done to earn that right? They’re now all of a sudden the kings of the SEC East? Give me a break. Even the SC fans must understand that they’re not THAT good. They went 9-5 losing their last two games and one of them 56-17 in the SEC championship game. That’s saying a lot. Now they get all the hype and are expected to take the SEC East by storm and no team has a chance to unseat them all because of their usual 5 loss season.

Lock of the year, Boise covers and wins going away. It’s tough to win when Boise has the best QB, head coach and offensive coordinator, and BTW Rivals just ranked the top 20 offensive coordinators
in the country and Bobo was no where to be found. The Sec did have 3 of the top four in the country, with Tenn. coming in at # 18.

Richt gets out coached again and can only hope Boise self distrucks.

Well Nasty Dog, you predicted the same score I have, except I predict BSU 31, UGA 17. I hope I am wrong and you are right. But I am just not sold on this “much improved defense” as of yet. Everyone seems to be basing this on Bama’s year 2 under Saban and the drastic improvement. I believe your scheme (3/4 vs 4/3) is not as important as your execution. From what I saw last year the scheme was adequate. Guys were in position to make plays (most of the time). The execution, however, was a different story. For example, Lattimore ran for 182 yards on us last year. How many would he have had had someone wrapped him up and tackled him? We had him in the backfield or on the corner and guys would grab air most of the time. Against Arky we could not cover anybody and Mallet lit us up. What I am saying is knowing what to do and then being able to do it are two different things. Until I see this defense swarm to the ball, stuff the runner in the hole, and cover a receiver like a blanket, I believe we will see more of the same. Once again, I hope I am wrong and I hope this defense dominates. But I look for BSU to dump off those short passes to some very gifted athletes, hit us with a bunch of misdirection to compensate for the speed, and our guys to be so amped up we over-run the play and they bust a big one. Hopefully our O can run the ball and control the clock. That is the only way I see a UGA win. Once again, I hope I am wrong. For those of you who will question my loyalty to the DAWGS, I have been closely associated with them since 1966. I am neither an optimist nor a pessimist, I am a realist. I do look for us to be better than last year, the schedule should help with that. But I don’t think we are ready for the SEC East Championship or anything much better than maybe 8 and 4. Once again, I hope I am dead wrong and these young pups surprise the heck out of me. Maybe I should go ask Mark May if the D will be able to get to Moore. I believe he said that UGA had no shot against Hawaii and Colt Brennen, would not touch him, and would lose by a wide margin. If I remember correctly Brennen was sacked 8 times and did not finish the game. While I do not want to see Moore, or any player for that matter hurt, I do hope he sees most of the game from his backside. GO DAWGS!!!

If UGA loses to Boise and both Boise and UGA win out, does Boise play for the MNC?

acdc1996

You CANNOT compare BOISE ST. vs V.T. to BOISE ST. vs.UGA.

UGA is FAR bigger, taller and faster in the front seven then V.T. If you watched the game, BOISE ST. and V.T. were about the same size and BOISE was able to have their way. Surprisingly, V.T. is not that big in the front seven on defense.

UGA is almost 30 pounds and 2 inches taller on the offensive and defensive line. BOISE ST. will not be able to have their way at the line of scrimmage. If they win against UGA, it will be because of finesse not POWER, like they used against VT.

I predict that the game will be close for 3 quarters, maybe BOISE ST. will have the lead. However, UGA will end up blowing the game up in the 4 quarter do to the relentless pound BOISE will take by the bigger lines UGA has on offense and defense.

1st Quarter – UGA 3, BOISE ST. 7
2nd Quarter – UGA 10, BOISE ST. 17
3rd Quarter – UGA 24, BOISE ST. 24
4th Quarter – UGA 32, BOISE ST. 24

I’d say that if Boise goes undefeated, they’ll make the NC game unless two major teams finish undefeated. They have a multi-year resume in their favor. Pollsters won’t deny Moore a shot if he gets to that point with only 2 losses in 4 years.

Still, if UGA coaching has done a great job preparing UGA for 2011 and calls a good game, UGA should not have a nail biter but instead win by a couple scores. I don’t think Moore can beat the Dawgs alone, BUT Boise State is WAY better than Colorado and Central Florida were last year, so all eyes are on UGA coaching.

acdc1996

66DAWGnNC…This is not another SEC team we will be playing. To bring SC and Alabama games as a point of reference is crazy. This is more like the Hawaii game. UGA will be motivated, they will be bigger and faster than BOISE ST., and BOISE will lose.

acdc, I believe you have missed my point. My reference to Bama was to show that just because they were much improved in year 2 of the 3/4 does not mean UGA will be. Bama had much better execution on both sides of the ball than what I have seen from UGA recently. They also had the big man in the middle that stuffed everything. We have been told that we have 2 very capable big men in the middle that are similar. All I said is I will believe the hype when I see the execution. That would translate to my comments about USCe as well. Guys were in position to make the play, but did not. I have seen that way too often the last few years. Is it poor coaching or over-hyped recruits? Your guess is as good as mine. I understand that BSU is not SEC caliber. But, they are good enough, when they have plenty of time to prepare, to beat any body on any day at any venue. Ask OK, Oregon, or VT about that. I believe they are much too experienced and too well coached to be awed by UGA and the Georgia Dome. That’s all I am saying. I will believe the UGA hype when I see it.

I think some of you guys are forgetting that players mature and the extra year can make a big difference. Jones, Tyson, Boykin, Smith, Commings, Williams, Robinson, Tree, and Washington are all back from starting last year. J. Jones started at USC (I think) and has the extra year last season, too. Geathers played some and Jenkins was a star in JUCO. Pundits generally look at who the team lost, but they don’t look at the experience level or ability of who is replacing them–almost all of them have started and played well. I think we are much stronger in that department than they realize. Geathers is the closest thing we have to an inexperienced starter in all of the players I mentioned, but he has gotten good reviews from all. We have some good young guys pushing them. Not only is the whole unit a year older, but the second year of a system is better for several reasons: the players are more comfortable, but so is the coach. He knows the players better, and he knows his opponents much better. CTG had little idea what to expect from some of the teams. From all accounts they worked hard on the physical part of D in the spring and summer; we’ll see, but I expect a big improvement. They are starting with a very, very accomplished offense to beat, so they get a huge challenge right out of the gate. The big unknown for me is how good the O line will be. If they can open big holes, we are going to be very, very hard to beat imo. We have great special teams. Finally, I wouldn’t get distracted by the Richt haters. Some of them have other agendas, and we really have no way of knowing who is sincere in their criticism, and who has something else going on. Richt is as good as they get. He has had a couple of bad years, but I think he rights the ship Saturday. He knows how to win; I’d say he is among the least of our worries. Go Dawgs.

Mark can say that the season doesn’t ride on Crowell all he wants, but when ppl are talking about a junior being a nice compliment to a kid that hasn’t played 1 down yet says it all. If this kid isn’t the next Lattimore, this Dream Team might go the way of the last 10 years of Dream Teams…Not a position I’d want to be in.

tired of hearing about the uniforms as if they were to motivate. It was required by both teams to wear them not Georgia’s idea. Boise St. beat Virginia Tech last year but so did James Madison. So don’t think VT was such a powerhouse at the beginning of the year.

My sentiments, exactly. I was a year ahead of you, class of ‘65.

Until the dawgs prove it on the field, I see no proof that they’re any better then last season and could be worse considering graduation, early departures, etc. They have the talent to be a very good team but lack(ed) basic tackling skills and couldn’t cover a blanket last season and don’t get me started on the O lines performance and at times the play calling of Bobo.

Maybe pure talent and ability of a select few players on this years team will mean the difference between victory and defeat that wasn’t there last season given the fact AJ Green missed first 4 games. On paper GA should beat BSU given we’re bigger and supposedly more talented. That showed up in the 2005 game w/BSU. But this is not the same UGA team as in 2005 and definitely a much better Boise team that will show up in the Dome on Saturday.

The dawgs should win if all the hype is true and they’ve turned things around but if the Boise guys get wide open and their RB’s run free and through tackles, and our O line can’t open a hole w/a can opener, then our worst fears will come true. In this case I hate to say I was right so please Dawgs prove us wrong by erasing all doubts of lingering ghosts of seasons past. .
