ATHENS – The good news is Ray Drew seems to have recovered completely from his Aug. 14 scooter crash. The bad news is he plans to ride again!

Drew, a five-star freshman from Thomasville, said he’s just waiting to get his scooter out of the repair shop, which he was hoping to do this week.

“That’s the plan,” he said. “It’s just something I need in order to get to where I need to be because they make you run for everything here. If you miss an appointment, there’s going to be some consequences. So I need to make sure I’m where I need to be at what time I need to be there.”

On Aug. 14 Drew was traveling south on Jackson Street downhill toward Baldwin Street when he wiped out after applying the brakes on his 50cc scooter. Wearing a helmet, he landed on his head and right shoulder. He suffered a sprained a.c. joint and was sidelined until last week.

“When it first happened, trying to get the range of motion and the strength back into the shoulder was hard,” said Drew, who wears special padding on his right shoulder. “Now that I’ve come along a little bit further, it’s pretty much back to where it needs to be. It’s nothing serious.”

Drew was working at second-team Will linebacker before the injury. He fell back to third team along with fellow freshman Ramik Wilson but head coach Mark Richt listed Drew among the true freshmen to contribute. He said he’s always working on some special teams.

“I’m going to go into the game with high expectations, not so much as far as playing a lot of time, but I’m just going to do whatever I can to help out my team and just take it as it comes,” Drew said. “I know this is my first year and I’m still adjusting to it. It came real quick.”

Good one CHDAWG. Is it possible that the Docs. could transfuse a little of his blood to all the D and O then.

I really don’t understand how these blogs work I guess. If you make a comment that is overly critical of an author of a story, your comments get deleted. Yet rumors and hateful comments aimed @ UGA and it’s players are allowed to stay up. And while I am at it, why are all the negative stories about other schools always presented in a format that no comments can be made and yet a scooter story about Ray Drew or a recruiting story about a high schooler getting in trouble becomes another opportunity for us to have to endure countless hits from trolls and UGA haters?

I think it sometimes has to do with blog posts hitting at the same time.

This is actually the only blog left where cyberstalking and baiting and taunting(from one of our kind) is not tolerated.

I have had to vacate the Tech blog and the bill King blog because of it.

Hopefully Chip will continue to eliminate the idiots.

Thanks for the malapropic inference, but I wans’t posting that from a legal perspective; just trying to add a little allegory to a rumor intended to vilify this young UGA athlete who can’t otherwise defend himself on this blog. .. Go Dawgs!

DawginLex – Chip’s blog is certainly much better than the recruiting blog or Bill King’s blog. I should give Chip props for that. It’s just so frustrating that it has become almost impossible to have an intelligent conversation regarding college football. I can endure fair criticism and even jokes about UGA and I am not a blind homer, but the juvenile blather that is spewed on these blogs has become so overbearing that I don”t even want to look sometimes. I just don’t understand people who have nothing better to do than come to UGA blogs and try to get a stir out of Bulldog fans.

This guy stalking me claims to be a dawg fan. He has posted as malcolm, emerson and Obama,Reid and Pelosi would be proud SuperTroll! because Ken tried to police his blog like Chip did. He started calling all of them Nazis. Then he started saying I’m not a Dawg and personally attacking me on both blogs.

I am not saying I have any inside information regarding anyone’s eligibility, but after hearing Todd Grantham on the Rude Awakening just this morning I would think he is going to be surprised if Ogletree is not playing Saturday.

Red and Black, I’ve been wondering about this guy (Tree) for a while. I watched a few of his HS hits on youtube a couple of years ago, and he looked like a man among boys then. With all of the press he gets from his fellow players, and since all of our running backs have ended up with injuries, he must be a Dick Butkus type of guy. The fact that he wears Toy Story pajamas to interviews makes the story even more interesting. Should be a fascinating season, to say the least. I can’t imagine how the collisions between him and Figgins/Samuel turned out! Go Dawgs.

Bucket,

Comments on most of these blogs are meant to produce web hits and justify AJC continuing the blog or the journalist job there. Chip is one of the few journalist who seems to actually do any research and actually put together a good article to read at the AJC. He tries to control, those that come onto these blogs with the expressed purpose of insulting another fans schools. He would have to have a full time assistant though to stop it completely. He even responds to some of them that criticize what he said.
Bill King, is a good read if you want a trip down memory lane but it is obvious he doesn’t even bother most of the time, to “Control the Troll’, so to speak. I have heard he is quick to ban those that say something about his article, or the fact that for a blog called “JunkYard DAWG”, he is exceedingly critical of all things UGA.
The problem could probably be eliminated to a great extent if IP addresses were used to ban folks, rather than handles, but I think that is probasbly time intensive and expensive and I am not sure the AJC, when it is hurting for bucks, can afford the expense. Even then, you can find any number of web sites that provide you with a proxy.

Great thing is, no rumor on earth will affect the team’s play Saturday. No rumor can keep Kellen Moore upright long enough to get BSU’s offense in synch. And no rumor in the world can keep IC from his first college 100-yard rushing game.

Nice place to share humor, but the real and serious story is what a fine bunch of young men Richt & co. have put together! Guys like Drew and Burnette cause me to have some hope for the next generation! I hope Chip will hit some of these guys’ stories. With so much terrible news about CF circulating around, their stories would be very refreshing. I think Burnette decided not to early enroll to shoot for being valedictorian of his class, and I read he texted Bible verses to his classmates on a regular basis. Georgia has a few problems, but they have a very large number of great kids. The trolls swoop in every time a kid makes a mistake, but they miss the majority who are doing it better than right! Go Dawgs–on and off the field.

HOW IN HEAVENS NAME can the Richt/Grantham braintrust run off Nick Williams and Marcus Dowtin. Two runner-hitters at linebacker ! When Richt starts talking about being “At Peace” with his decision, you know you’re in trouble. Does the guy ever challenge any of the position coaches on these types of decisions? It’s like ” Whatever, Now leave me alone. I’ve got to get my hair tinted. You energy vampire you”. What a waste of talent. What an attitude. NCBF – Why not? BSU has no one on the schedule last year that compared in terms of O-line size or IC’s ability. I believe they will be able to run the ball pretty well on BSU and that will be the difference in the game. Coach Peterson got quoted as saying that the dawgs were bigger and faster than they were and bigger and faster than they play against. I agree with him whole heartedly.

Sports Illustrated has come out with an index in which we are number 1, even though they didn’t rank us for football. SISII – you can type it in, read ‘em and weep. Sports Illustrated Scooter Injury Index. I’m not joking. They also have an appendix–the Scooter Arrest Index. We dominate that one, too. Go Dawgs–CMR–let’s ban scooters, and get them drivers. Justification: player safety. That is all….

CHDawg

Look, if we can’t ban the scooters, this is one solution: if we can possibly work it out, we can let the players wear the Spiderman/devil costumes while they are driving their scooters. I’m sure Nike won’t mind. They would have Nike body armour protection while driving, and the biggest benefit–people could see them from several miles away! Remember, if they like ‘em, I like ‘em! Go Dawgs!

@RedandBlackDawg……..Well my friend you certainly hit the Bill King stuation dead on the button. I, aside from enjoying some lighthearted fun on these blogs we all read, have taken the “glass half empty” Bill King to task a few too many times, it would seem for his liking. I am almost always deleted by ‘ol Billerooo……….and never really say much more than “lighten-up Bill” or “really Bill, you can do better than that” or mabe ” I’m pulling for you Bill, I know there is a positive story about the Dawgs somewhere in the back of your brain”…………Oh well, Me? I enjoy a little “real football” discussion from time to time………but that’s a tough one to find, especially due to the fact that the only time I have during the day to use my computer is quite late at night……..reminds me of the Chrlie Pride song “The snakes crawl at night”…………Best Regards to all DOG NATION……..Saturday night, in the Dome, lets be heard!!!……..and GATA………….RED
