ATHENS – Online fan reaction to Georgia’s new Nike Pro Combat uniforms, publicly unveiled on Saturday, was generally negative. This came as no surprise to Bulldogs coach Mark Richt.

“I think there are a lot of people that just don’t want to get away from [tradition] and I don’t blame them,” Richt said. “That’s the reason we’re sticking it out there two weeks in advance, so everybody can get over it.”

The new design features a silver helmet with a wide red stripe down the middle, red jersey, red pants, llong black socks, all in the Nike “Pro Combat” style. UGA and Boise State both agreed to wear the specially-designed uniforms for one game only when they play in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game on Sept. 3 in the Georgia Dome.

Georgia has a 2-2 record under Richt when it has changed its uniforms. The Bulldogs famously beat Auburn 45-20 in their first-ever “blackout” in 2007. They also rolled Hawaii 41-20 in black jerseys and pants in the 2008 Sugar Bowl.

But the last two times it hasn’t gone well. Georgia lost to Alabama 41-30 – after trailing 31-0 at halftime – in 2008. Wearing black helmets and black pants in 2009, the Bulldogs fell to Florida 41-17.

“We’re due,” Richt said. “I doubt we’ll do any surprise uniforms anymore. At least everybody’s got time to digest it this time. If everybody just thinks about what’s most important and that’s playing the game, I think we’ll all be fine.”

Richt said it’s not about motivation or breaking with tradition.

“When the players saw it, they liked it and that’s the big thing,” he said. “And it’s a special game. It’s not what we would call a traditional uniform but it’s not a traditional game either. That’s kind of why we did it.”

Meanwhile, the players love them.

“I think they’re awesome,” junior wide receiver Tavarres King said. “We’ve still got to play so it’s not a magic potion or anything. But I love what Nike has done for us. We’re blessed to have those uniforms. I’m excited about them.”

Said linebacker Christian Robinson: “I do like tradition, but I think one game out of the year you can do something new. It’s not like we’re changing our whole style for the whole season. It’s one game. If it’s upsetting somebody that bad, I’m sorry.”

Dogs 19th in AP poll

The Associated Press Top 25 was released Saturday and Georgia was ranked 19th. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 22 in the coaches’ poll released earlier this month.

“That’s good,” Richt said. “It’s nice to be ranked.”

Said senior defensive end DeAngelo Tyson: “That’s pretty good. We can’t go anywhere but up starting at 19. We just don’t want to go down.”

Boise State, Georgia’s opening opponent, was ranked No. 5.

“Good. I’m very excited,” Georgia’s King said of the Broncos. “They should be 5, if not even higher.”

Crowell wows team at practice

Tailback Isaiah Crowell apparently is completely recovered from the groin injury that sidelined him for six days. In his second practice back, Crowell wowed his coaches and teammates in the scrimmage portion of Saturday morning’s practice.

“Isaiah went live today and he made some plays,” Richt said. “He had a couple of great runs and a great catch and run after the catch for a touchdown.”

Said King: “Isaiah Crowell came in and was just making plays all over. I was excited about that.”

It was the first time Crowell has gone full speed since injuring the groin on Aug. 12.

“He went a little yesterday and that was enough for him, I think, to realize he could go,” Richt said. “We had a great competitive day and he wanted to be a part of it. So I think his adrenalin took over and he competed and he competed well. It was great to see.”

Injury report

Crowell’s backfield mate Richard Samuel was not about to return. Richt said the junior will be out at least until “early next week” with a strained quadricep muscle.

Nose guard John Jenkins sat out after being sidelined with a mild hamstring pull on Friday. Fellow nose guard Kwame Geathers returned from an undisclosed injury that kept him out on Friday. Also, freshman wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell was out Saturday due to a pulled leg muscle. Freshman outside linebacker Ray Drew will be out at least another week with a separated shoulder suffered in a scooter accident.

Good to hear these thing. I think it’s going to be a special season. Mark Richt was basically telling people that didn’t like it to “get over it” because we’re wearing them regardless whether you like them or not. I love his attitude. I love the team’s attitude. Let’s get it done on 9/3

The uniforms have grown on me every time I have looked at them.

Sure the red pants would be better silver.

But the players are hyped, and from what I have read about this team ever since Jan 1st, they MORE THAN DESERVE to wear what they want.

Cannot wait to see them in action!

I think these injuries are not really “injuries”. I think someone’s lying here. Of course Richt isn’t going to say so and so is healthy and will play game 1. He’s going to mix it up a bit so that it’ll be a surprise. Samuel is probably resting. Wait until he stolls out there on the field (6′2, 240 lbs) in that uniform. Boise is going to think it’s a bull. But guess what Boise? You gotta stop him.

We need to lighten up a little Dawg fans. It is football, and it is supposed to be fun. The unis will be fun, and taking it back between the hedges in three weeks against SC will make the traditional red and black seem that much better. I think when they roar into the Dome together, you will be excited. Didn’t the old bullpup teams have silver helmets back in the days of freshmen games? I can’t remember.

Don’t speak for fans as in general. Just because a few couple of old farts don’t like them. Everyone I talk to at our tailgate which is about 20 people like the change in uniforms. You want to talk about tradition well the silver pants are not are tradition. Look at Walker in red pants running over Bates.

Oregon has like 200 combinations. I hate the silver britches on away games with the white jerseys. People make a big deal out of it if you lose but like it when you win. Just play the game and look good is all I say.

I’ll suspend judgement on the uniforms until I see the whole team wearing them on the field on the 3rd. Of course we love our traditional uniforms, and we don’t want to lose them. But I’m okay with this uniform change. It gets the rest of the nation more interested in the game, and it excites new recruits who are excited about being on the cutting edge of college sports. What about a total red out in the Dome for this game with everybody decked out like the players? Can you imagine the distraction it would be for the Boise players to see the stands full of screaming Dog fans dressed in red from side to side when the game starts. This would be like a Georgia version of their blue field. It is time for all of the fans to show your support for the team and stop worrying about last year. Enough of this b.s. about uniforms. Could care less what they wear, i’m more concerned about Richt and his coaching staff. At this point, all of his talk, and all of BoBo’s comments mean nothing to me. Either produce or get the hell out of town. Richt has been given alot of rope for some reason, but i personally think he will hang himself with the rope that McGarity has given him. Results on the field is all that matters now, and it’s time to put up or shut up. Hope he put’s up, but i don’t see it in this guy anymore. And i don’t see another VanGorder in this Grantham to bail Richt and Bobo out. Hope i’m wrong, but time will tell on this one.And could we please stop getting quotes from Robinson, this guy is like Rambo, neither one of them have made a play that matters in the past 2 seasons, and those 2 are the only players we ever hear from on defense. If those are the best leaders we have on defense, then Richt’s fate will be sealed soon enough.

Well we went out and lost to a pathetic Colorado team and that was a break from tradition. We were #1 in the land and got whipped by a mediocre Alabama team at home wearing non-traditional uniform. We tried to break the Florida curse with untraditional uniforms and likely got the worst whipping in UGA history. We elected the first African-American President non-traditional for sure and how’s that turning out? Stick with what we (the ones paying the bills) want! Tradition is UGA! We are not inner city Los Angeles hip hopping along to non-traditional music, clothing, tv, etc. If you want those atmospheres go to Oregon or USC. WE ARE UGA where tradition rules so stick with it Richt or go to the prgressive schools to coach. We’d take a new Russell or Dooley anyday over such decisions. Wins and tradition over the change to mediocrity and horrendous looks.

I don’t know just what poll the AJC, or Chip, or whoever, is citing that the majority were ‘generally negative’…well I think you, Chip, are generally negative as well and could use a little ‘positive’ motivation, and if Jim Minter were still calling the shots I suspect he’d provide it. The point is these young men are fired up about this season and the challenge facing them with the game with Boise State followed by South Carolina, and if these unis provide a little something else to fuel the flame then so be it.

Seem to recall that nobody really hollered that much when Vince put us in white pants when he came to town then a few years later went to the silver-britches when they had a fabric that actually looked silver instead of gray, and when he also adopted that funny-shaped ‘G’ – OK, so we ‘borrowed’ it from Green Bay and only did that because they were kickin’ butt at the time…and while it may have looked a little odd that Saturday night in Knoxville in ‘80 when we trotted out in white tops and red bottoms – bet Bill Bates was thinking just how funny those pants looked as they buried his orange-clad self in the Shields-Watkins field turf.

As Coach Richt says, ‘get over it people’, we’ve got more important issues to worry about – like wondering how far up we’ll jump when the #5-rated BSers go down like a rodeo clown…oops, I’m gettin’ ahead of myself…but these uniforms look as good as any I’ve seen from Nike. I mean can you imagine how LSU will look in all purple?

Some people are sticks in the mud about change, but let’s face it, the main reason people don’t like these unis is that they are damned ugly.

Here is the main point that all of you wanna be, has been or never was cry babies need to consider is that the players love them and that is who will be wearing them! Also, I guarantee you that the 16,17 and 18 year old recruits watching the game are going to love them too which is also huge! What you traditional stuck in the past people need to realize is that whatever is best for the UGA is what we need to embrace. If wearing different unis gets recruits excited then I am all for it. Also, I am sure that way back when Dooley changed the pants to silver from white I am sure that there were a bunch of old people belly aching over that too! I also believe that the helmets used to be silver also. So, if all of you “traditionalists” would focus some of this outrage into actual noise at the UGA games then maybe our stadium could be as loud as others!

The collar cut to me seems comfortable, I’m sure the materials are excellent. Ultimately it really doesn’t matter what they wear.

I do find it a bit interesting that a scholarship makes one a free mannequin for Nike clothing.

Would love to see some big high school athletes refuse the scholarship offer, pay their own way in school and see if they can challenge the system by selling their own likeness. It would be fun to see the NCAA’s feathers ruffled in that manner. If there’s no scholarship I don’t see why the school could sell the players likeness without paying them for it.

Hey ‘UMMMM’…not only do I see that elephant (an apt mascot/metaphor by the way) you’re talking about, I can smell a race-baiter from twenty paces. Why don’t you come on out and say it? Are you afraid that if most of the better athletes, that also happen to be black, knew that a substantial percentage of ‘fans’ (note I didn’t say graduates, although that too might be debatable) of SEC schools were racially biased, said schools would have a hard time recruiting said athletes and would no longer be able to call themselves ‘the best conference in college football’? Is that what you meant?

They’re pretty ugly. Wouldn’t be so bad if they had done a thin stripe on the helmet and silver pants. That’s what happens when you let fashion designer’s do football uniforms. But such is life. UGA’s normal uniform is good looking, but it won’t change a thing on September 3rd. GATA Dawgs!

All the old codgers should just get over themselves. I think the uniforms are sharp and it’s for just one game. All the “tradition” talk is a bunch of crap. It’s just a bunch of old cronies that don’t like change of any sort, I bet Vince Dooley went through the same thing when he introduced the super G on the helmets. If you’re a fan under 50 that hates them then you need to pull the stick from you know where.
I love being a Dawg fan, was born and raised in Athens, but I swear sometimes I hate being associated with some of the backwards thinkng fans we have. Get over it.

Don’t get me wrong the vast majority of our fans are great, met a couple of great ones at the mall in Jax as I was getting new gear for my sons, but some of us just simply act like a bunch of cackling old hens, always looking for SOMETHING to complain about.

Special game – both teams wearing nontraditional uniforms.

Will add to the uniqueness and atmosphere of the game – differentiating this game from others to make it more special.

From publicity perspective – the entire college football nation will be talking about UGA/Boise.

Players like them – adds to the game.
Future players – recruits – will notice as well – and makes both programs unique with that national attention.

The uniforms are growing on me – good for ONE game!

Most of the players would be excited if the poor combat uniforms were pink with the oval “G” on them because they don’t know squat about the history of traditional uniform history at UGa. Neither does Nike or CMR.

Those helmets minus the red striped black facemasks are a rip off of Ohio State’s 1960 helmet.

The Black jerseys are cool with real silver pants but not with the dull, faded grey pants UGA has been calling silver for years. UGa should occasionally wear black shirts but they need to cancel the “blackout” Sanford stadium campaigns and promotions as they learned from playing Bama in 2008, it only motivates opponents when you create a hoopla environment about it.

I hope Georgia wins it’s first game. It’s just sad to see them looking like UNLV or Western Kentucky while doing so.

Saw the uniforms up close. The only thing I don’t like is the wide red stripe on the Helmet. A thinner, traditional stripe would have looked better. Red pants are okay but I think they should have kept them silver. Not too bad overall. I do like the idea of a silver helmet on occasion as a tribute to the Wally Butts teams of the 1950’s. Nonetheless, Nike does pour big bucks into the program so I guess you have to humor them on occasion.

Damin Edwards and my red panties must inspired Nike to produce these gadawful uniforms. But as Richt has finally learned, uniform tricks don’t win games-good coaching does. And that is where UGA is sorely lacking. Great players, no coaching leads to the record Richt has posted the last 2 years.

Sorry to say but UGA is starting 0-2, Boise and SC aren’t ranked where they are for no reason, you better start believing that h*ll is hot. And to make matters worse Richt will proably be fired after losing to Miss. State (SC and Miss State are much better than last year) and know the can beat the dawgs.

If it takes a uniform to take a kid to commit, I don’t want that kid. Tradition should sell the school and UGA has that academically and athletically. I am not surprised by Nike. All these companies are partly responsible for college football and basketball being in the shape it is in. They cater to and give gifts to AAU teams and college teams when they charge high school teams outlandish prices. An AAU basketball team walked by me in Disney World one summer as they were participating in the showcase. The whole team smelled like a brewrey. They cater to the type of kid that has college football in the shape it is in. You poll many of the UGA players and I guarantee you they don’t like the uniforms. College football should have been embarrased by the uniforms worn by Va. Tech and Boise State last year. And of course Oregon is the poster child for uniforms and they are probation bound.

The NCAA has become a dinosaur with regards to modern college athletics.
ESPN is the new kid on the block $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Sell your soul to the new company store.
ESPN cannot afford for A & M to leave the SW conference, with all the cash
they are shelling out to the Longhorns. If the SW conference dissolves, think
of the losses ESPN will “suffer.”
I would dare say there is behind the scenes negotiations involving monetary
considerations for A & M to stay in the conference, and preserve ESPN’s
deal.
A great comment by Mike Leach regarding ESPN, when they come, a team
or conference spreads it’s legs and opens up for the largest payout.

You are full of it. I’ve been around a looong time and this is no gradual evolution of tradition. Its a sell out to NIKE. Plain and simple. Tradition means you’ve built something and traditional unis represent that. Tradition includes the whole Dawg nation from us “old farts” to the newest members. Its one of the things that make college football special. Now, I’m not going to get overly concerned over unis for one game, but I’m allowed to vent for one day.

Richt just DOES NOT GET IT. That G has a tradition associated with it and a brand. People see players wearing traditional UGA uniforms and question in their minds whether they can win. Thats the history of the tradition of winning that brand brings. Certain SEC teams have this. Bama, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida and UGA. When Nike messes with the branding, the fear is gone on the field. This is psychological.

I am an Auburn man, and I thank GOD we dont wear Nike uniforms. This aint Oregon over here with the day glo socks. Those people have no tradition. They have gimmicks. The people who think this is cool wonder why UGA has a building named Buttsmear. With no idea who Wally Butts was.

My father was a UGA graduate, I am also a UGA graduate who is married to a UGA graduate and have 3 children attending UGA. So I am born and bred UGA all the way. I have always loved UGA’s classic and traditional uniforms and hope that the basic uniform does not change. But all these ignorant comments on ProCombat uniforms that are going to be worn for one game is really embarrassing. We have a lot to be excited about: our recruiting was excellent, news is great coming from practices, discipline appears to be strong with no arrests, and the University is exceeding expectations academically, and you still find ways to criticize our team and university. I can tell you that the players and the student body love the uniforms. Why not reward them with something that is modern and up to date? Are you really that upset with the uniforms or are you just an old stick in the mud who cannot accept that things change. I bet you are the same ones who complain that your low performing child cannot make the grade academically to get into UGA. Would like to know what the cost was and if it can really be justified these days while tuition for education is getting to be out of reach for many. What’s really correct, reasonable, sensible, important etc., is rare and hard to discern in these tumultuous times, especially from those in leadership roles everywhere… government, business, education, religion, etc. We’re descending into self-annhilation because of making bad decisions.

To all you fans who question the loyalty and dedication of fans and alum who complain about the direction of the UGA football program under Richt:

Up yours.

Your crap is getting old. Some of you pie-in-the-sky types are the same folks who’ll be bitching and moaning and calling for Richt’s head after another mediocre season that includes yet another loss to Florida. Apparently you just haven’t reached your breaking point yet. Fair enough, but some of us have reached ours.

I don’t like the unis, and I don’t like Richt as head coach. I’d love to see another tradition brought back – playing defense – but I’m not going to hold my breath with these clowns in charge. I’ve paid enough money to UGA to be able to say that. So if you can’t deal with that…get over it, as your favorite coach would say.

Ok. CMR thinks that showing some willingness to “break with tradition” might help with recruiting and he may be right. But Saban, Joe Pa and other coaches of old school, storied programs won’t miss a beat with recruiting, and in fact may attract more of the kind of recruits I would personally prefer by sticking to their classic identity.
These uni’s are attrocious and they are not in line with what I would like to consider my alma mater’s football identity. I wish we’d leave this kind of crap to Florida and Oregon to embarrass themselves with.

Yes I am aware that the TN game was a road game, but I was not aware they had been wearing them on a regular basis for road games. So thanks for that clarification. But frankly the fact that they had worn them a few times before is not the point. You can’t have it both ways. You can’t say that they changed Back to the silver pants for “tradition” sake, while trying to minimize my point that the Red Pants were a departure from tradition. One I doubt that the Bulldawg faithfull really thought was flying in the face of what is dear to them, about the time Bill Bates was getting run over.

The unis are not that bad….red jersey and red pants is not the best combo. What is really tragic is the helmets. That is just plain ugly as hell…..giant silver stripe!? Im an artist and feel I have a pretty good understanding of these things…

Look at all the new NFL logos over the past decade…they are all terrible. Go back and look at Tampas old logo or even the falcons. They were so much better 20 years ago. The Carolina panthers logo is soooooo lame. But the reason for this is marketing. They want things that can be readable no matter the size…so they are simplified and have brighter( less sophisticated) color schemes. Its not laziness as much as capitalism ruining yet another thing.

College Football USED to be about tradition.

E$PN has killed it with Wednesday night games, Thursday night games, Friday night games, contrived early season matchups, BCS manipulation, and super-bowl long pre-game shows that beat any shred of a story into the ground until an unsuccessful old coach can do his shtick and put on a mascot head.

Then Nike bought any program that wanted to sign on the dotted line. Well, guess what, everyone sold their souls so Phil “sweatshop” Knight could build his college athletics empire at Oregon. Have fun competing against Oregon in the near future. The only thing saving everybody from an Oregon reign of terror is that Eugene is just too far away from So California, Texas, and Florida.

The uniforms look like crap! Another payoff to Nike who will be marketing this garbage as UGA uniforms within 2 weeks, just like they do with their hometown Oregon Ducks – which is an embarassment. Be a Bulldog; play like a Bulldog; and for god’s sake, dress like a Bulldog!

Richt should worry more about coaching this team up, rather than accepting Nike’s selection of Bulldog uniforms for their commercial benefit.

Nike has been the sponsor (and marketing) the Georgia jersey for years now. They and Georgia have made plenty big money together, ours going towards new sports complexes and stadium expansions, thier going to drive a capitalist company. Now all of a sudden, we all hate the corporate pigs?

BTW , UGA and Nike made some changes to the unis in 2005. And that change was permanent to the “traditional” unis. This is one game. Why the double standard?

And it is actually designed to make the player perform better – “The redesigned base layer facilitates the uniform’s overall innovation, delivering the ultimate in lightweight protection for maximum speed. Strategically placed seams, pads and cooling zones also help minimize distraction and optimize protective coverage.”

And yet, here the majority of you still are whining. Grow up. If you don’t like the uniforms, go be a Tech fan or a Gator fan or an Auburn fan. We don’t need you.

One I doubt that the Bulldawg faithfull really thought was flying in the face of what is dear to them, about the time Bill Bates was getting run over
————————————————————————————————————————————————

Changing pant colors and changing the whole uniform is two different animals. Changing the helmet is the worst offense. BTW The current classic uni is the longest running uni in UGA history…31 years…and if you discount the pants its been 47 years. UGA has won a NC and 8 SEC titles with this uniform. Leave it be. You’ve also failed to address that this is a marketing gimmick for a corporation and a totally different animal to the red pants. Not to mention the NIKE unis represent everything that is wrong with our current society. They’re loud, garrish, cheap looking, and classless with no respect for what has come before. And last but not least, their sole purpose is commerce….getting the NIKE brand out there and selling more jersey’s. UGA is pimping themselves to NIKE.

Ugliest, poorest uniform design, tacky, tasteless, poor quality….there’s only so many ways to say that these uniforms…totally suck. Hopefully the play on the field will far surpass Nike’s weak-as-hell uniform design. Does Nike make uniforms as a means of earning a business profit? With results like this, one has to wonder how in the hell they stay in business. It must have been “amateur week” at Nike when they were designing these “pathetic contraptions”. Is UGA obligated to pay for this trash? The UGA players will be ‘heros if they can win a game in ‘these’….ugly contraptions.

Mark Richt might as well as said “screw you” to his team as he accepts money from Nike for wearing these gaudy uniforms and drawing attention to the team for something other than good play. How can a coach making millions of dollars tell a player not to accept gifts or cash while he is making millions of dollars and keep a straight face? That is the hypocrisy of coaches and the NCAA and school presidents.

Does anybody find it curious that all off season the coaching staff has been emphasizing UGA’s “tradition” to the players. Telling them that it means something to wear the “G.” Even to the point of bringing in Herschel and former UGA players currently in the NFL to talk about UGA’s “tradition.” Now all of a sudden tradition is silly.

AltamahaDawg

August 21st, 2011

why WOULD I address it. The intention of a corporation has nothing to do with the fallacy that our uniforms have not changed plenty of tiems for special occations and even permanently (yes I understand you choose to draw hypothetical lines on the exact percentage change that is allowable). And I wholeheartedly commend Nike for producing a product and marketing it.

Alabama and Florida pimped themselves to Nike last yar. LSU will later this year. Army, Navy, both pimping themselves later this year. None of those program have any less respect for tradition than Uga, you, or I.

We’ll just disagree. The more you tell me whats behind your dislike of these, the more I find my original point was right, but obviously you aren’t going to see it that way.

As I have said, I think they are ugly. I think ugly unis is a small price to pay for what we are getting from it, and it’s far more than money can buy.

Its a matter of what each of us value. So yes, we’ll just have to disagree. BTW There is near unanimous concent that the unis are butt ugly. I can handle the unis for this game only. CLOWN SUIT

Boise State blogs are poor, at best. I went over there and tried to carry on a conversation. It is not possible. They do not want to hear, like so many blogs I have no respect for, what is the truth.

The truth very clearly is that with 15 Boise State in the NFL to our 45, Scout.com is correct with the last 5 recruiting classes averaging # 69 for Boise State and # 11 for Mark Richt.

Now, frankly it is true that Boise State plays a weak schedule; but, the real Truth, is that when they are not playing a weak scheduled team, they

LOSE.

31 games against the 6 BCS Conferences and Boise State has won exactly 8 games.

Every SEC team has always beat Boise State.

8-23 clearly shows the NFL and Scout.com Rivals are correct that Boise State is no match-up for UGA.

Boise State just needs to play more games like this one. Then, there would be no question about them. Look at them the last time they came here. The year before they had a 12-1 record with the same quarterback; the year after they had a 14-0 record with the same quarterback and we beat them by Five (5) Touchdowns with this same, said, quarterback.

COMCAST ISP. If you are getting garbage adding to your screen RedANDblackDawg, sir, what you need to do is to call comcast. They come to your home for free. They will run a test, replace connectors, check your speed, and fine tune the connection. Aren’t you paying them $150 a month like the rest of us ? Why ask us for what to do, when you obviously only have to call them. Some outlets are farther away from the splitter and are troublesome. They can re-route if that is your choice for where you want to use your PC. Their meter will tell them everything they need to know about your connection. Your connection is bad.

CHDawg August 20th, 2011 7:08 am

“The hamstrings and groins may not have much to do with S&C”

CHDawg, sir, half the team has hamstrings. Stretching is the 1st thing you do in Strength and Conditioning Training everywhere but here obviously, and the last thing you do in S and C everywhere but here obviously, and the 1st and last thing you do before and after every practice. This is poor coaching. And, please note that these are the very crucial players we are counting on to have spent this entire camp learning for the 1st time ever with no game experience. We have failed.

RED PANTS, yuk. One look at Oregon Ducks’ uni is all I needed to know that I didn’t want them to have the only say in what the uni looked like. You can stipulate in the Nike Contract that your helmet has the G, that your pants are silver and that your jersey is this color red. Their system can still be fully implemented as a uni.

I hate the uni. Totally hate it. The players did not say they love the red pants, what they like is the system that makes up the uni. Nike knows nothing about color combinations, nor would they in the least feel constrained to have us demand we have silver britches.

They had a chance to get the fans on board with a cool design and blew it. I would have liked to have said that while I prefer the traditional unis, I like what they did with these.. but I can’t. I am not one to comment on the style of what color goes where and what colors are on the helmet vs. the pants. These things change. What is disappointing to me is the color of red is not Georgia red. Why on earth did Nike feel they had to change the color of red? I would be fine with these uniforms if they had just made sure the colors matched Georgia’s colors – that doesn’t seem like too much to ask.

What I think is really neat is how the gloves come together to form the G – very cool.

I am sure UGA won that game by a greater score than 69-11, right? Oh, recruiting doesn’t always add up exactly with wins. Character comes into play and UGA will fold like a cheap suit when the going gets tough. No heart. I predict the best part of UGA’s 2011 football season will come under an interim coach- UGA fans better hope that comes early and not a late season change. Face it, CMR should be gone already. Fans VS Fanatics: Fans understand football is a game played by kids; Fanatics think this is an activity designed to dominate, intimidate and destroy not just the players, but the fans of opposing schools.

Fans enjoy the many facets of the activity; Fanatics live and die by their teams performance on a field of “play”.

Fans have a life beyond the game and understand the players and coaches do also; Fanatics are one-dimensional and expect the players and coaches for THEIR team to be just as boring as they are.

Fanatics cause the kind of problems Miami now faces; Fans do not want their teams to WIN AT ALL COST- they want to be as proud of their team and coaches off the field as on.

Thank you Coach Richt, this fan appreciates you!

McGarity also downgraded the non conference home schedule, making your tickets worth less, creating another kid day. Notice how the crowd will have less wives or women, and be diluted.

McGarity downgraded the nonconference travel schedule by eliminating it. I truly enjoyed the trips to Arizona, Oklahoma, and Colorado with 25,000 of my closest and dearest friends and was looking forward to the Louisville trip.

If the players want to look like the Star Wars security personnel, that’s great, they can wear those to the after party. If tradition is dead within the University football program and Richt thinks it is cool, then change our colors every game, or even wear “colors from around the world” representing the different continents. How about eco-colors, like the Oregon smokin’ Ducks wear? Maybe earth tones to match our future earthly resting places? I have a great idea, LET’S REPLACE THE “G”!!! Mark Richt’s attitude is a real turn-off. “Tradition” is a huge part of following a team, college or pro. The traditional UGA football uniform is one of the coolest college uniforms out there and Coach Richt takes the attitude that it’s perfectly okay for him to change tradition at his whim. That’s pretty arrogant and egotistical for a guy who’s job, unfortunately, is on the line. I hope he does well and stays — I like him. I mean if you are a Boise State WIMP who don’t let us say whatever we want on your blogs, calling it hijacking your stinking blogs on jersey # 24 that day, like anyone ever heard of that guy when he was in high school, or after he was in college while you play 10 of your regular season games against teams Rivals say average the # 81 opponent all season long this 2011 season, except for TCU and Georgia.

If Scout.com is so wrong that Boise State averages # 69 recruiting class, instead of talking about # 21 AP Poll UCF beating UGA when our coach settled for a field goal on the 1-yard line, why not talk about why the NFL only has 15 Boise State players ? I thought they were all so top-class players, and all according to you, right ?

The ones telling us Mark Richt’s “coaching staff” is the most awesome ever, despite having to go back 58 years to 1953 to find any season UGA last lost more games in a season than we just did. They also are the ones in here trying to tell us S and C has nothing to do with Stretching. Telling us we aren’t Bulldogs’ fans and they are, because they SETTLE for this 3 wins in 12 games vs teams finishing in the Top 10 all 10 years and because they SETTLE for 16 losses to teams with LESSER TALENT than we have, such as UCF, 10 of whom did not finish in the AP Poll Top 25 even with their win over Mark Richt’s “coaching staff” these 10 years to-date.

I can tell you this; we better not lose to Boise State, too, with their recruiting class every year # 69.

Only the Georgia tek nerds and Boise State WIMPS are afraid to sit there and continue after we get through with their last salvo – weak as it is with both of their records vs the 6 BCS Conferences forever.

I didnt realize that our red and black could ever appear as nauseating as Oregon, but the designers of this atrocity has certainly done it.Gimmicks dont win games; coaching and players do.This demonstrates Richts desperation to motivate his players to a level that he and his assistants(friends and former players)arent capable of doing.I guess this is what having more time to study the game of football produces-more gimmicks.Anybody remember what uniforms Saban had Alabama wear for this game? The same ones theyve always worn &the same they wore in the Rose Bowl beating Texas for the national championship.

JohnG,

Sir.

You have to get it exactly right the Richt-0-Files. It is 21 Losses over the last 5 years, averaging more than 4 Losses a year over the last entire 5 years including in the same timeframe 13-12 vs The SEC East. Not 22 Losses the last 4 years.

And, moreover, they always come back with WINS over his 10 years, so you must proactively discuss his 3 wins in 12 games vs teams finishing that season in the AP Poll Top 10.

And, his 10 Losses in 10 years to 10 teams who did not even finish in the AP Poll Top 25.

Not that they will ANSWER ANY QUESTION.

Just ask you questions.

Like you are supposed to answer their questions, but that they have no such obligation themselves.

I like our traditional unis better, but it’s good to change things up every once in a while. Heck, I’d like us to go back to the black uniforms every once in a while. Those were sharp, and to anyone who thinks, “We got beat by Alabama wearing those,” we also beat the tar outta Auburn and Hawaii wearing them. Also, that ‘08 defense was not very good (read: sucked).

As for these, sometimes unis can look awful standing still, but when you get them in motion, they work a lot better. That sounds kinda contradictory, but it isn’t. Trust me.

Also, this isn’t a motivational “gimmick” by Coach Richt. Boise is wearing Pro Combat unis of their own. So enough of that nonsense.

Either way, I think the Dawgs go into the Dome with something to prove and the ability to prove it and come out with a big win (14-17 points is my margin).

Simpy this… As an alum, those uniforms do not represent Georgia. They represent Nike and just happen to be red and black with a G logo slapped on the side of the helmet. The UGAA talk about building Georgia’s brand, but in a nationally televised game lets Nike have the exposure. The Nike Bowl between the Nike Bulldogs and the Nike Broncos…do not adjust your set, those are the actual uniforms, and this is not a Canadian Football game.

Everyone who thinks this will help recruiting needs a reality check. Top-flight recruits 1) pick a school close to home, 2) wins and can give them national exposure, and 3) plays a style of football they like. The pro-combat uniform will not do anything to swing any recruit, and if it does….well, I question where that kid’s head is at.

The Pac-10/12 is a traditionally weak conference and with USC not able to dominate, there is no one there to even remotely test them. Easy to look good when everyone else sucks. Easy to put up 40-50 points per game…and then guess what, a decent defense holds you to 19.

You can incorporate a Pro Combat uniform and not compromise Tradition. As much as I have praised McGarity in my opinion he dropped the ball on this one. Maybe the all Blue look was okay at Florida but the all Red look isn’t at Georgia. When you say Silver Britches it only bring one team to mind. The design team that Nike used are artist , not sports people and certainly not Georgia football minded. I’m sure they don’t have the athletic skills to beat themselves out of a wet paper bag. They live in California and don’t have a clue to what Tradition means in the SEC . It was our responsibility to make sure that Tradition wasn’t lost in a marketing decision. The SEC plus the state of Texas take their football very serious. Other parts of the country don’t have a clue to how fanatical our true football fans are and who will still support the program no matter what. CMR and other say it’s just one game but we all know that’s how you get things started , just a foot hold at first and more later. Georgia has way too much money and make huge profits every year to compromise, ever.
Bottom line is if our AD, and or President had thought any they would have seen how important it is to some fans and made more of an effort to incorporate the Pro Combat look and blend it without compromising TRADITION. Some who just got a big laugh out of it or smirk and say “IT’S JUST ONE GAME ” don’t have a clue what the definition of Tradition is and why it is so important to some people and they never will.

They’ll win because they will play one tough game per year and 11 cupcakes, everyone not living in Oregon will hate them except for the bandwagoners who also suddenly like the Mavericks and Packers. Oregon may win a few championships like Miami when they are lucky enough to draw an equally weak sister in the title game and not an SEC team. Then a former player/alum/booster, perhaps Knight himself, will cross the line and that will be it. Miami all over again.

I’d rather win ZERO national championships than ever be looked at the way Miami is today. You think anybody today is associating Miami football with championships? Win with class and integrity so it will mean something 20-30 years down the road.

Just simply bad uniform design. It’s that simple. I’m sure some of the detractors are just resistant to change but I believe many see this uniform for just what it is…unimpressive ugliness.

CANEDAWG, the nike pc uniforms STINK like...... !!!

August 21st, 2011
5:54 pm

Since CMR and nike have not given the fans any information concerning the controversial pc uniforms, I have dug deep to find out some idea of what was UGA traditions are revealed in the eyes of Nike.

The silver helmet goes back to the pre-1964 era, before Vince Dooley became coach of UGA, when the Dawgs wore strictly silver headgear with no stripe and no logo. However in 1963, the year before Dooley was hired some silver Bulldog helmets began to feature a red “block G”. It is not known if that helmet was officially endorsed by the University or it was the idea of a few ambitious players craving a logo on the silver helmet without official permission.

The wide red stripe on the nike pc helmet is reputed to be in honor of the late, great Erk Russell, Coach Dooley’s defensive coordinator and architect of the fabled “Junkyard Dawg Defense”. Coach Russell, who kept his head shaved bald was a muscular Yul Brunner, and he established a practice drill of taking on his best defensive players head on, with the player and Coach Erk both getting a running start to crash the helmeted players headgear into his forehead !! This drill was said to tremendously inspire the defense and transformed them to be meaner than Junkyard Dawgs during games. Coach Erk’s skin across his foreheard always gave way and at times he would often bleed profusely from the head. I can remember seeing Coach Erk roaming the sidelines with a bandaged forehead at times and at times you would get a glimpse of him in a players face barking orders during a game with a scarred forehead with dried blood residue running between his eyes along the bridge of his nose. Legendary indeed. UGA dominated rivals like UF in his days as Defensive Coordinator. Coach Erk moved on to Ga Southern and took this drill with him and went on to win multiple I-AA Championships.

The thick red stripe on the pc helmet is set there distinctly in honor of the great Erk Russell for the blood that was shed and sacrificed on his behalf to instill the Junkyard mentality to the Dawg defenses he coached.

Finally, the oval G on the helmet was the idea of Coach Dooley from 1964, when the university recieved permission from the Pro Football Coaching Great Vincent T.Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers Championship Team to “borrow” the logo to apply it on red helmets. Lombardi and the Packers graciously allowed Georgia to use the logo.

So now we traditional UGA fans should have a better understanding of the Nike PC helmet designed for the Boise State game. CMR and Nike apparently knew this PC helmet and uniform would cause a huge comotion amongst the UGA faithful and it seems as if they deliberately withheld this information. For more historical UGA uniform information please see: http://redandblack.com/2008/10/03/go-you-silver-britches-a-uniform-tale/

I see there are a lot of opinions on the uni’s personally they don’t look that bad, yes I would prefer the traditional red helmet with Black G etc. but I remember in the 1967 Cotton Bowl after Dooley’s first SEC Championship they were all decked out in white. I think sometimes you do have to change things up a little, shake things up and get a fire lite under your team. So if this gets this team focused and playing with great intensity, then I am all for it. Anyway I hope this team plays with a burning desire to win every game, not like the last two years when they seemed to be going through the motions at times.

The bottom line is that college football has become too commercialized. It use to be that the school, whether it was coaches, fans, alumni or players would make all decisions. Now companies have just about taken over. Look at your stupid bowl game names. Sure they help sponsor them but you could still stick to the bowl name. Companies pay millions to help sponsor the Super Bowl, but it is still called the Super Bowl. I blame the NCAA, the school Presidents and AD’s for allowing this too happen.

Were you being ‘realistic’ when you, and Bear Bryant, decided that it was ‘realistic’ to recruit black athletes (if you wanted your team to ever win anything again)….is it ‘realistic’ to recognize that we live in a pluralistic society and have to accept that all of us are in this mess together and if we don’t deal with it together we won’t survive? Future of college football…player pool…with today’s coaching the game is done…deal with it??? You may think that’s just being ‘realistic’ but the rest of us know it’s racist pure and simple and the sooner you decide you don’t care any more and take your hate and prejudice and leave the rest of us alone, the better. Your story about Coach Russell is a little bit off. Coach Russell would get the defensive starters together in the locker room before a big game and they would take turns banging their heads into locker doors. The players would have their helmets on and Coach Russell would do it bare headed. It would draw blood on his face, but I doubt Nike used that for input in the new uniforms.

Encore explanation of the Nike PC helmet:

Why is the Nike PC helmet primarily silver ?

The Dawgs used to wear silver headgear with no stripes or logo originating from the 1939 until 1964, when Vince Dooley was hired and changed the helmets red. Former UGA coach Wally Butts was the originator of the Silver open faced headgear in 1939, which at that time did not bear a facemask. Butts further established UGA’s famed Silver Britches with red jerseys with medium sized silver block numerals in 1939.

Why does this silver helmet have the thick red centerstripe ?

The helmet has the thick red centerstripe which extends through the black facemask to honor Georgia coaching legend, former defensive coordinator Coach Erskine “Erk” Russell. Before games in warmup drills a pumped Coach Russell would challenge his defensive players to head butt him (with wreckless abandon) with their helmets on to instill a mean hardnosed streak or what he designated in 1975 to be Junkyard Dawg mentality into the defense. This drill was wildly successful and Coach Russell dubbed his angry defensive charges, The Junkyard Dawg Defense. As a result of the head to head collisions with his helmeted players, Coach Russell would bleed from the forehead and trickle down his face. Coach Russell wore the dried blood on his face as a badge of honor, and his players were constantly reminded of their Junkyard toughness simply by looking at his bloodied face through to course of games. With the wide red centerstripe extending through the facemask is Nike’s way of paying homage to Coach Russell and the tradition of the Junkyard Dawgs of 1975.

What about the Oval G on the PC helmet ?

It was derived from the Legendary Championship teams of the early 1960s Green Bay Packer teams of the great pro coach Vincent T. Lombardi. UGA requested and was granted permission from the Packers in 1964 to use their trademark Oval G for use on Vince Dooley’s new red headgear designed for UGA.

Do you want to see photos of the Great Erk Russell’s legendary gameface and other great shots of historical pictures of unique old school UGA pictures, then go to: http://www.dawgbone.net/oldschoolarchives.html

“I’m sure folks would call that a gimmic now.”

.

.

AltamahawDawg, you have said a ton of truly Hee Haw comments on these blogs, most notably Flame personal attacks on fans who are not in the least satisfied running off 26 players Mark Richt’s “coaching staff” recruited here who will not play vs Boise State, who could have; and replaced them with scholarships to walk-ons who never have played on offense or defense and never will – when they are the reason we average the # 7 recruiting class averaging both Scout.com and Rivals.com all 11 recruiting classes, while we have amassed a 13-12 record the last 5 years vs SEC East and 21 Losses in total these last 5 seasons, averaging more than 4 Losses a year.

Now, we have a very wide red stripe in the middle of the helmet for our 2011 season to open, where if we don’t in this Down SEC East make it to The SEC Championship Game, it will then have been Six (6) entire seasons – and, yet we face a “schedule” of 10 CUPCAKES against this schedule we obviously should go 11-3 (and that would be beating no one.)

Erk Russell led us to our 6th National Championship and this one Consensus, who died 5 years ago, back 31 years ago while the Railroad Tracks’ Faithful wanted to dump Dooley and replace him with Erk, a sentiment shared by many to this day, and he lived to be 80 years old; and coached us to the fabled Junkyard Dawg Defenses where we simply had the best Defensive Backs at Rover and Free Safety which we obviously have not had and do not have yet again this season. And, Erk won not only the only AP Poll National Championship of the Six (6) NC UGA Bulldogs have in the NCAA Official Records Book FBS 1-A Football (Georgia tek has 0 of by the way.), but then left when we failed to promote him to head coach to start up football again in this state 150 miles South on US 80 and US 301 at what was Georgia’s Teachers’ College, where he coached from 1981 to 1989

WINNING FOUR (4) CONSENSUS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 1980-1989

And, of course, in practice he absolutely banged his bare shaved head against the Junkyard Dawgs, and you have the unmitigated gall to come in here and say you are

SURE

FOLKS

WOULD

CALL

THAT

A

GIMMICK

NOW.

Other posters have told you on this blog you ran and hid from all season long last year while instead we have to go back 58 years to find an UGA team who lost more than the 7 losses we put up last season, that you should do us all a favor and pull for Georgia tek.

Why don’t you address how you too obviously are DEFENDING MICHAEL F. ADAM$

You are on the wrong side of everything; how is that possible AltamahawDawg ?

You don’t EVER get anything right. Joe Cox throws the deep ball better than any Quarterback. We will win the NC 2010. You are not a Bulldogs’ fan you said to everyone this time last year who suggested to you that we had no secondary, no push for QB sacks, a slow small Quarterback who would be instead himself sacked, no running back, a wide receiver interested in no one but himself who never not once beat any opponent in any of our big games all his years here, and an OL who had proven that they could neither block for the pass nor for the run.

PTFO

And, you follow that up with coming back Thank You Lord for 2011 to try your hand at posting again (before you run and hide all this season too, hiding behind your keyboard with your personal insults and that’s it) and say to us all that

YOU ARE SURE FOLKS WOULD CALL ERK RUSSELL A GIMMICK NOW.

ChopDawg,

It is the 1974 season which got Erk Russell to come up with his idea of Junkyard Dawgs as inspiration, and no gimmick AltamahawDawg, butted heads with his players he bald and they in helmets, along with One More Time. Hardly can the 1974 season, then, be what is discussed about the Coach who Is The Coach of The Decade 1980-1989 according to USA Today. He took whatever players Vince Dooley did not want on offense, and made them into the Junkyard Dawgs. Instead of your view of Erk Russell, ChopDawg, the real view of Erk Russell besides his 4 Consensus National Championships 1980-1989, are what he did here in getting his 1st Consensus NC and only AP Poll NC UGA ever has had (which Georgia tek again has 0 of.)

During the 17 years that Erk Russell served as Georgia Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator, the ‘Dawgs played 192 games and held the opposition to 17 or fewer points in 135 of them. In 74 of those contests, the defense kept the other team’s scoring in the single digits, including 27 shutouts. Coach Erk Russell’s Georgia defenses allowed more than 28 points just 18 times in 17 seasons.

Which is the more accurate depiction ChopDawg, yours of 1974 which is why he became a great coach, our greatest coach ever, or mine explaining your 1974 season (I was there too on the RR Tracks sir.), which is the more accurate depiction of what you wish to talk about GRHS Erk Russell.

Red Dog – I would love for the kids to have fun- but is it too much to ask that they play for three hours without taking a nap. It’s like everytime we score, game over, it’s nap time – defense and offense! If I see one more successful fake punt against us – the tv is going out the window. How many times has the other punter just lolly gagged down the field with our guys running ahead of him – in the same direction.

Who do we have on this “coaching staff” of Mark Richt like this ?

http://www.dawgbone.net/OldSchoolPics/erk09-08-06b.jpg

“Erk Russell is the greatest motivator in the history of college football, no doubt,” Scott Woerner said. “He was just phenomenal. Not having the opportunity to play for him would have been a tragedy in my life.”

No gimmick AltamahawDawg.

A gimmick is Dream Team which is # 6 recruiting class in the nation according to both Scout.com and according to ESPN.

A gimmick is telling us that everyone wanted to hire Mike Bobo and Bryan McClendon so we are giving them both huge raises.

A gimmick is every sorry attempt he has ever made to change our # 1 in the nation uni and this includes his latest lie : the players love the uni – no they don’t Nike’s own site refers to the uni as not a uni but as a uni “system.” It is the system that the players like not the red pants CLOWN SUIT. Dawg fan babies will CRY to have wear those as pajamas. Don’t make me wear those mommie. I don’t wanna. The wide red stripe is no tribute to Erk Russell but a sorry attempt by a company who NEVER HAS BEEN a fashion statement. I have Nike shoes I wear folks call MOON SHOES. Great shoes, comfortable, last forever, expensive as they can be, but FASHION STATEMENT Mark Richt – this gimmick by you sir to say the players LOVE THE UNI, is just more of your BS Mark Richt. BS while you have 26 players who could have played vs Boise State you don’t have, players you get credit for recruiting here who are all elsewhere. Gimmick tell the players to go onto the field and purposely get a penalty. Gimmick. Gimmick to say you did not promise Donald Shockley in 2001 when you redshirted DJ that you promise Donald that you will play DJ in the 1st few series of every game for the next following 4 years, if he doesn’t pull his son from UGA. Of course DJ would not have let him, but a promise extracted in that meeting 2001.

Gimmick that you knocked the lid off this # 11 all-time 1-A wins football program today with his win over # 4 vols 2001 when what you really did 2001 was to lose 4 games.

Gimmick to call yourself the # 4 best coach in all of America Mark Richt THIS YEAR 2011 in this newspaper, when in fact over the last 5 years of 21 Losses, you are in fact # 23 in the nation and not even # 4 in your own conference.

Gimmick after gimmick after gimmick.

I will not let go Willie Martinez you vehemently told us all 2006. Your college roommate. Gimmick.

Field Goal from the 1-yard line vs Conference USA Central Florida George O’Leary. Gimmick.

How you argued with the BCS in the newspapers 2007 that UGA deserved to be in the NC game you yelled and screamed while LSU beat 2 teams who finished in the Top 10 and you lost to the likes of a sorry vols’ team and an even worse 6-6 not even in a bowl game South Carolina 2007 : Gimmick.

2008 ranked # 1 in the nation by every single poll, all of them, and let 21 players go out on the town and have a real party.

# 2 all-time in Fulmer Cup Standings Mark Richt’s recruits.

Coaching ?

Leadership ?

3 wins and 9 losses in 12 games vs teams finishing in the AP Poll Top 10 all 10 years.

Great in game games ?

Beat the teams we are supposed to beat ?

Why then 16 losses to teams less talented than us like Boise State in 10 years and 10 of those 16 teams did not even end up in the AP Poll Top 25, even with their win over us, the other 6 of whom would not have without their win over you.

I’m the 4th best college football coach.

Gimmick.

I’ll give you some gimmicks AltamahawDawg, not that you even know what a gimmick is or how to even spell it.

Mark Richt is nothing but gimmick after gimmick after gimmick after gimmick after gimmick after gimmick after gimmick after gimmick.

The uniform that we wore in the Tennessee game in 1980 looked great and if you had taken the Pro Combat look and modeled it against the color combination of that uniform it would have been the best uniform Nike has ever used the Pro Combat on. It would have been amazing. A blown opportunity to play in the Sept.3rd game with one of the classiest uniform ever for Georgia.
The uniform that we will be wearing get a 3 rating on a scale of 1 to 10. The helmet is actual okay.

Winning is not about gimmicks. You change mindsets from the inside out, and not merely with uniforms. First it was black outs, then growing beards, and now this. Wow, what a disappointment!!! The Dawgs will be in the top 25 often, but seldom in the top 5. The coach just does not get it. Winning a national championship will seldom if ever occur until the coach changes is mindset.

Tradition to some of us is like attending our grand parents churches. SCARY!

They go sit in a traditional church services (no drums, guitars, screens, etc), sing songs from a traditional1955 broadman hymnal (every verse mind you), hear a sermon on “turn or burn” for a solid hour (from an elderly guy who wears black pants with white socks and black shoes), then proceed to sing every verse of “I Surrender All” (while no one dares to approach the alter), then finally they walk out and shake the preachers hand at the back door and go home.
No change is ever tolerated because Jesus wouldn’t allow it (BIG LIE). The funny thing is Jesus IS all about change. He is a radical!
Sadly, our grandparents will soon die but the church has been dead for 30 (+) years already. What a waste!

Tradition is awesome! We get it! We really do! But life is about change! And changing tradition as well.
So all you older folks cut us young bucks some slack. If we want change let us have our turn! We tithe just as much if not more than you.

Now after saying all that… can we go back to silver britches and wearing red road pants. LOL! Just adding 2 cents into this absurd debate.

not crazy bout the unis but might change my mind when i see them on the field. im a devoted GA fan and ppl need to remember that even tho we had a losin season last year it wasnt like we were gettin our butts handed to us everytime we lost. this years team is a totally different team. we may have alot of the same faces but the addition of the young guys we have this year gives us what we have been lackin… energy. the past couple years our guys have looked uninspired and disinterested at times but this group of kids comin in this year (and the fact that CMR showed a couple players the door) should really help turn things around. we WILL beat boise and we WILL win the east… dont know if we got what it takes to win the sec but we will before murray leaves. i expect 9 wins this year and CMR to be back foe years to come.
