Nike beats UGA to punch and unveils Pro Combat uniforms

ATHENS – UGA was claiming to offer the first glimpse at noon today of the new Nike Pro Combat uniforms on its Facebook page (facebook.com/georgiabulldogs). But apparently Nike didn’t get the memo. The sneaker giant went ahead and posted pictures earlier this morning of the uniforms they’ll wear against Boise State in the Chick-fil-A game.
Click RIGHT HERE to take a look for yourself. In general, it’s all red with a silver helmet and black socks. Reaction on Twitter and Facebook and on fan sites this morning has been somewhat divided with more dislikes than likes, from what I can see. Some of the comments have been hilarious.

I ask my wife what she thou about these uniforms? She said, they looked like super hero costumes. I sure hope they play like super heroes in them. The uniforms don’t look bad to me, I think UGA needs to show them with the player wearing them, so I can get a better look at them, to much black back ground in the Nike page to get a good look.

Horrendous! Why can’t we stay traditionalist??? My goodness we still fly the stars & bars; vote extreme Republican; but we have to wear left wing clothing (i.e. ultra modern)??? Why? Are we idiotic? Or is it just the coaches that have to OK the design? Stay with tradition! It has served us well and we love the look.

I dont care if nike donates to UGA, Im sure Under Armor wouldnt mind donating to us too.
Our Uniform is just fine, yea Nike can tweake it a little but good grief, red on red, boy that took some tough thinking
Who cares what the players like, worry about winning for a change instead of what your uniform looks like

The more i look at them. the more i like it. But it is a lot of red. Pants should have had a silver strip down the side or something and helmet should have been the other way around. Red with the sliver stripe. But for all you guys screaming ” tradition ” i believe UGA’s orginial helmet was sliver. So there you go!

I’ve always loved our traditional uniforms………. basic and easily recognizable by everyone. Win or lose, I hope these are tossed in the trash after the Boise St. game.

Too bad my beloved UGA is in the hick state of GA. Based on some of the posts here, I can tell many of you just fell off the turnip truck.
UGA was contractually obliged to wear these uniforms in this game. It is for 1 game only.
Educate yourselves. And stop whining like republicans.

Wrong! UGA was obligated to wear a uniform…still had to be approved by the AD at Georgia. Should have never been approved by our end. Both sides must agree for the design to be approved. Horrendous look to go with the horrendous decision. we are not Oregon and do not want a new look for each game.

Hey look, most young athletes today aren’t influenced by stodgy adherence to something the rest of us call ‘tradition’…and if we’re gonna appeal to the best of those young men then we’d better be ready to ‘change with the times’. I’m not saying that we immediately adopt this look, but why the hell not do it – for this game in particular…and think of it this way, at least it ain’t all orange or all that blue color that UF wears from time to time and doesn’t seem to worry about it. Fact is the damn things don’t look bad at all. Think about it, if we were starting from scratch with nothing to go by except the core colors that have been with us, virtually, forever, then which would you likely go for? Which would your kids go for?

Just hope that the ‘play on the field’ is more impressive than the uniforms; if not, UGA is in for a very long year. These are the ugliest, most tasteless, tacky, unimaginative, poorly conceived uniforms in the history of any league of football. Totally unimpressive!! And Nike is supposed to be..complimented? awarded? worshipped? for these fabric..”contraptions”? They’re tacky enough to induce an emetic reaction of the most ballistic, projectile type. If Nike is looking for a compliments….”the most outrageous lies” will have to do. It’s all they’ll get from any reasonable person.

Why did Nike put these silly outfits on the skinniest mannequins they could find when normally a mannequin for a new sports uniform would be roid raging sized? Nike apparently wants these uniforms to be hated. But why?????
