Nike beats UGA to punch and unveils Pro Combat uniforms

ATHENS – UGA was claiming to offer the first glimpse at noon today of the new Nike Pro Combat uniforms on its Facebook page (facebook.com/georgiabulldogs). But apparently Nike didn’t get the memo. The sneaker giant went ahead and posted pictures earlier this morning of the uniforms they’ll wear against Boise State in the Chick-fil-A game.
Click RIGHT HERE to take a look for yourself. In general, it’s all red with a silver helmet and black socks. Reaction on Twitter and Facebook and on fan sites this morning has been somewhat divided with more dislikes than likes, from what I can see. Some of the comments have been hilarious.

Wow, talk about an overreaction. It’s for one game, it’s not Richt’s idea, and all of you will still live. No, they’re certainly not as good as our regular uniforms, but then again what is?
It sounds like a daycare in here with all of the whining.

My opinion is……meh. However, Nike gives so much money to UGA the guys would show up in helmet, pads, and a gold plated jock strap if Nike asked. All I can say is at least they don’t look like Oregon!

I think these uniforms look pretty cool. And for most of you ole fart bloggers you need to get off the geritol and drink a little red bull. The players love these uniforms. The old style uni’s haven’t won many games in a while so maybe a change is in order. And besides a dream team needs some “BLING”.

For the squeamish fans amongst us, these red uniforms are a great idea. It will hide the Boise State blood they let, better. Imagine how the uniforms would look with a lot of white and then have all that blood from them on the uniforms.

This is the opener – and it is about fun – both teams wearing wild – imaginative – uniforms for one game only. This will just bre a part of the speacial atmosphere of this game.
Players will always remember this – and future players will want to be a part of a program that is in the spotlight.

I dislike the uniforms,however if it makes the team fired up and play like hell(the devil is in the color) then whatever.It still reminds me of some of my son’s Xbox games.like Halo or Warcraft.

If it helps Murray fine receivers I’m all for it but if they try to turn us into another Boise State or Oregon then we have a problem.

I think that the uniform deal was directly tied into playing the Chik Fila game. It was a all or no deal type of thing. That is because Nike pays Chik Fila also. If the players like them and it somehow boost their spirits, I say “Get it on UGA”, and just beat Boise State. The kids will make the uniform, not the other way around. I will be just as proud of them, when they beat Boise in red, as I would the traditional uniforms. After they beat Boise, will anyone remember what uniforms they wore or for that fact, care what ones they wore?

Win more and UGA would be in the spotlight… the uniform looks horrible, I don’t know how anyone could come to a different conclusion. But it’s just a uniform, it’s Nike, it is what it is(n’t)… so shut up and win. Tired of the “talk” with this coach/team since 2008.

Wow, those are some godawful uniforms. I get that the players like them, and that they’re a one-time thing, so in the long run it doesn’t mean anything, but still… ugly freakin’ uniforms.
