LowCountryBullDawg……
Brantley had a horrible year for the Gators last year…..but he did beat your Dawgs with a critical pass to Deonte Thompson at the front right of the endzone with a perfect fade pass. He also had big passes on the final drive leading to the FG that beat you. The only team he did play well against last year…..was the Georgia Bulldogs.
But….a word of caution for the SEC…..Brantley is looking comfortable and playing confidently in the pro style offense under Weis. Jaye Howard, one of Florida’s best defensive linemen (and they have a lot of very good defensive linemen) thinks Brantley will get some mention for the Heisman this year, based on how he is doing in practice. Personally, I think Jaye is overstating Brantley’s future, but I am now starting to believe he will be a lot better this year and, if he is, the Gators will win the East……and make it 19 out of 22 this year in JAX.
But the best QB in the conference will probably not be at Georgia or Florida….but up in Knoxville. And I think the Vols are going to to upset some teams……and the Gators and the Dawgs certainly better be ready and fired up to play them. Thankfully, the Gators have them in THE SWAMP.

The key to stopping Lattimore or any big back, is to take away their running lanes. If you have those big boys that can penetrate, and push the O line back, you take away the middle. This forces the runner to go outside the wall, and you expect your linebackers and safeties to cover that area and be on the runner. It is basic football and has not changed much since football has been played. To play a 3-4 defense you have got to have a couple of big uglies to close up the middle and put pressure on the QB and Rb’s and force the direction of the play. UGA has those big ole boys now and if the guys play like they are capable of playing, there are going to be some teams that are surprised by UGA’s defense. I think they will play 4 quarters this year and if they play tough and inspired, UGA can do pretty good this year, as long as the offense controls the ball a little bit, and the defensae is not out there all day.
GO DAWGS

“UGA has those big ole boys now and if the guys play like they are capable of playing”
Unfortunately that is all undocumented speculation based on hope and wishes. UGA has two potentially decent players at the position but neither has any meaningful game experience, yet UGA fans have unreasonably decided that this problem has been answered. That is the furtherest thing from the truth, as the JUCO kid has been limited in practice and despite assurances all summer that the new superman has arrived. Now, the “Answer” could not beat out an inexperienced sophomore. So as of today, the question is still a huge question mark.
Looking at the Lattimore kid, he went off against the original Coty at Bama last season and he was an experienced upperclassman, so it appears that he takes more than a big noseguard to stop him.
That is the problem with UGA this year, nearly every position except QB is one big question mark. RB, WR, OL, NG, LB, S, etc are all areas in need of drastic improvement from last season. Expect some of those to work out but others will not.

Wow, some of you do not know anything about team sports. There were 21 other players plus special teams and a coaaching staff that lost to all those winning teams last year. Aaron Murray could not lose to all those teams alone. Get off his back and write about some other negative thing you can find….Oops!!! I forgot for a brief moment that the AJC “Beats a Dead Horse” instead of looking for something else to write about. Get real.

To stop Lattimore, you get a big lead and make Spurrier change the game so he will pass more than run the ball with him. Ball control will always be the answer to winning.

Chemistry is as important as talent. Our chemistry has been way off since we took in the 08 class ( I believe). Hard work makes winners. I think our bulldogs have finally relearned this small detail. I think we see a sizable improvement this year.
