Looks like I.C. will join the long list of 5 star recruits that UGA signs that get a lingering injury that limits his play his freshman season. This program seems to be snake bitten when it comes to top recruits getting injured. Benedict, Long, Burnette,Stripling, Burrows, the other linebacker from S.C. that hasn’t seen the field in 2 years, the list goes on and on. But for this typical writer from the AJC to say he would take Brantley and Jefferson over Murray says all you need to know about his knowledge of college football. This guy is just another in a long line of AJC writers that are clueless, and they never do any research other than to read the Rivals or Scout team sites to get their 2 day old headlines. And for the idiot Tech fan with the nickname Groh, are you kidding me, comparing tech’s defense’s numbers playing in the ACC with UGA’s numbers playing against SEC competition. UGA still had much better numbers for total defense than the Tech defense, and that was against top ten talent every other week. Tech only plays 2 decent offenses every year, Fl.State and UGA, And they don’t even play Fl.State this year. And for you to brag on tech’s pass defense in practice against Tech’s offense, you must be the dumbest blogger ever. Tech couldn’t complete a pass against thin air, much less a good defense. And Tech fans try to impress people with their intelligence. NOT!!

Would love to find the coach that would publicly say otherwise about his defense.

AltamahaDawg: No official word on Sturdivant. I’ll see if I can get one. . . .
Brian: I wasn’t intending to compare Murray to Brantley. I was just pointing out that Murray has yet to win the big, meaningful game on a big stage yet. He’ll certainly get his chance the first two weeks of the season. . . .
Mean Machine: Not a lot being said about Malcome right now. I think you’ll definitely see him in action this season. But i think he’ll be third-string at best behind Samuel and Crowell and Carlton Thomas figures to play a lot eventually.

Ok, I am not a Gator follower, obviously, and I know I will be quickly corrected, but what big game did Brantley win last year? It cannot be the UGA game as they play 5 guys at QB. So what game did he play 95% of the snaps and lead UF to victory? Not trying to be a jerk, just do not know the answer. I would think he has just as much question as Murray does, if not more.

Actually I just reviewed the stats from last year and Brantley had zero big wins and wasn’t he a 4th year Junior? He managed the win against a poor UT team and was lackluster again UGA in the victory. He split time in th ebowl victory over Penn St.

There you go with the crying about how you win the statistics, etc. Ya’ll suck…we will always beat your little high school offense….run up and down the field, but “COUGH” up the rock when we hit you hard. You just can’t put it in the end zone enough…and you CHOKE too much.
If CPJ really believed he could run it down into the red zone and score late in the game, he would have done so instead of throwing 4 straight times,,,,,, and then BeBe (baby) choked with the game on the line. I loved it!!!!
CPJ is my man…hope he stays there forever, because he will never get any good players.

The uneasiness is starting to creep in. I’m trying to stay positive, but I have seen us blow too many opportunities in the past for great success. We can’t beat Florida anymore! South Carolina if you haven’t checked is three and four men deep in certain positions. So why should I expect UGA to turn this thing around on a dime? UGA does not have the depth needed to win the SEC. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. If we do it will be because of a tremendous amount of luck and no other reason.

It is not that Murray has not beaten a team with a winning record. It is that GEORGIA has NOT Beaten a team with a winning record last year. The Defense was the main culprit and the discipline problems did not help. Get off the kids back. Get on the teams back for losing not just Murray and the Offense. Come on!!!!!

CMR runs one of the cleanest programs in college football. Nothing in your hate filled rant is even close to the truth. It is sad that a racist like you who is so obviously fueled by depression and angst has access to a computer. Your mother or the library should keep an eye on you next time you stumble near the keyboard in the drunken state you are in when your disability check arrives.

Coach Grohbo- Tech may have had a good rushing offense last yr., but they aren’t as balanced as UGA, & they rarely ever pass the ball. Like Allen Iverson said, “It’s just practice, man!”

By Popular Demand, I couldn’t agree with you more. Even after the last two lousy seasons, criticizing Richt brings a lot of heat on these blogs, but I decided about 2 years ago that I wasn’t going to pretend that I didn’t see the way things were going under Richt, both on the field and off.
He tries to be buddies with his players, and that doesn’t work. Georgia has had a rash of embarrassing off-field incidents. His team looks and acts like the Miami teams of the 80s and 90s, but unfortunately plays like the Ray Goff teams of the 90s (at least in recent years). Penalties, soft defense, inconsistent offense, cheesy uniform changes, the disgraceful “Stomp” in the WLOCP in ‘07, and an unusual amount of serious injuries indicates that something is wrong with this team.
And what about the games where his teams simply don’t show up, at least for a half (by then it’s too late)? – West Virginia in ‘06, Tennessee in ‘07 and ‘09, Alabama, Florida and Georgia Tech (second half – defense quit) in ‘08 come to mind. Add to that a 2-8 against UF and a loss to UCF in a minor bowl. I’m sick of this crap.
It’s gotten to the point where part of me hopes Georgia flops this year so we can start fresh next year. I can’t handle another year of CMR. But I can’t pull against the Dawgs. Quite a dilemna. And I’m not the only supporter who feels that way. We need a coach with a pulse; someone who can motivate and get the best out of his players.

Chip- Yeah, he may not have won the big game yet, but most of those guys you mentioned haven’t exactly been so consistent either. The QB gets a lot of blame, but it’s a team game. It appears to me that Murray didn’t have as good of a team around him last yr. as some of those others. I can’t believe anyone whose not biased wouldn’t choose Murray before any of those guys. After all, Murray’s team had an inconsistent running game, & it was the 1st yr. in the 3-4 as well, & so the defense was also pretty weak. Murray put up better numbers than those guys…despite those other guys having better teams last yr. I know you never know what’s going to happen, but I’m just saying.

@War Dang Dawg That’s what we used to do when we had the talent for it. That does not exist on the current roster. I agree with you and By Popular Demand about the coaching in Athens; However, I wholeheartedly disagree about him as a person and what he means to all those dumb, illiterate players yall mentioned. It is not his fault that some do not want to take advantage of an opportunity of a lifetime to improve their circumstances. CMR has taken care of every single player he has ever coached at UGA on a personal level. Even the ones who screwed him over, time and again, he saw to it they landed on their feet somewhere. Who the heck does that nowadays? In most cases, coaches either send them home back to the ghetto or make it difficult for them to transfer, holding a grudge. Attack his coaching if you must, but not the man. EVER!!!!

If I remember correctly Caleb King suffered from a groin injury amongst all the others. He was hampered by that for some time. Groin injuries can be ongoing problems. There’s nothing Crowell can do about it. It is just a weakness in his body. But don’t be surprised if this doesn’t turn into a chronic problem and significantly affects his availability and playing ability. This is why you cannot put your hope in one man.
Dispensing Common Knowledge
August 19th, 2011
8:50 pm
It’s common knowledge and an unquestioned fact that UGA head football coach Mark Richt has brought shame on the state of Georgia and made an embarrassing laughingstock of the state’s largest university. Even the most avid UGA fans understand this even when they won’t acknowledge it, bless their hearts.
The most embarrassing thing is the win-at-any-price mentality of Richt, which has effectively made UGA a football factory, with cheating, recruiting of low-class jerks who barely graduated from high school, and tolerating immoral and unethical activities by both players and coaches. Even with all this, he still can’t win.
Richt is a product of the lawless environments of the University of Miami and Florida State University, where he learned well how to conduct himself in the most tawdry way, while pretending to the world to be a saint. Make no mistake – Richt is in coaching purely for the millions of dollars that has been wasted on him, and the millions more he will add until someone in Athens has the integrity and intestinal fortitude to run him out of town.
A truly shameful situation, especially since all Georgians, including UGA alumni and fans, have to live under this shadow of infamy.
