Not that it will come as a surprise to anyone, but the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game between Georgia and Boise State officially became a hard sellout on Monday.
The exact time was 9:02 a.m. At 9 sharp, UGA put 800-plus $55 tickets on sell and they were gone two minutes later, according to both Georgia and Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game officials.
That means all 71,228 tickets have been snapped up a month and nine days before kickoff (Sept. 3, 8 p.m.) and Chick-fil-A Bowl President and CEO Gary Stokan is a very happy man.
“One of the things that sold Georgia and [Athletic Director] Greg McGarity on this game was we could give them access to tickets,” Stokan said Monday. “As of today they sold more than 53,000 tickets. I think the majority of their season-ticket holders were able to get access to tickets. That said, I have lists longer than both my arms of people calling me. So it must be a tough ticket if people are already calling me this far out.”
It wasn’t the earliest sellout for the still-relatively-new game. That goes to the 2009 game featuring No. 5 Alabama and No. 7 Virginia Tech, according to Matt Garvey, vice president of communications for the Chick-fil-A Game.
“But nobody has sold as many tickets as Georgia has either,” Stokan pointed out. In the previous three Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games the schools split 31,000 tickets each. Only LSU-North Carolina last year was not a sellout.
“When we put this game together, we went to Boise State and asked them how many tickets they thought they could sell and they said 75-hundred [7,500],” Stokan said. “And then we went to Greg and asked him what he thought he needed and he said, ‘as many as you have to sell.’ So I think Mark Richt and Greg have done a wonderful job of getting their people excited about this year. I think it’s a credit to the passion of the University of Georgia football fans. That’s what you need to do in a game like this.”
Georgia has sold 53,522 tickets, or approximately of the Georgia Dome’s capacity. Boise State sold out of its allotment a couple of weeks ago. The remainder go to Georgia Dome suiteholders and the Chick-fil-A folks.

So Vandy, who Georgia plays “home ‘n home” has a 90,000 plus stadium….LMAO. Typical SEC fan…can’t do the math. The reason SEC schools won’t play Boise “home’n home” is because they would rather play Georgia Southern. The fact is that SEC schools don’t like going west. In head to head competition over the past decade the Pac10 has beat the SEC….you know, “the best conference in the world”…LOL

I would say…..at this time…..your chance of a return trip to Atlanta in December is equal to SC and Florida……toss up between those three. On paper concerning experienced talent, it is safe to pick SC (they have some serious talent on offense). If it is based on young, somewhat experienced talent on the roster and Weis’ offensive coaching skills……it would be safe to pick Florida. On unrealized, but outstanding potential…it would be safe to pick Georgia. Take you pick….and I guess I know your pick.

I recently rewatched the Bama-Texas game….Bama came out and crushed the Texas QB….dominated the first half……completely……relaxed….and allowed Texas back into the game….and then turned it back on and dominated again. Bama had difficulty staying focused in the game….because they were so much better. Texas got a lot of their passing yards…including Shipley….when Bama came out of their standard defense and started the prevent crap. They then shut Texas down again when the game got tight…and Bama easily put the game away. Imagination is good….but not healthy when used improperly.

Bronco…with this, I say goodnight. K. Moore is a great QB…..but he lost his two best receivers from last year. That can’t help him….and Georgia has an experienced secondary. But Boise has a chance against Georgia…and I think they would compete well in the SEC. They are a good team…..but they would not win the SEC West this year….but they would be very competitive in the SEC East….but not win it. Too much depth on the top SEC East teams compared to Boise. It would take its toll on Boise in a full SEC schedule…..but you would beat some good SEC teams, no doubt. And you could upset Georgia….but I am taking Georgia.

@Tampa Gator: ‘Bama got a once in a season bad hit on Colt McCoy that changed the game. It would be like Peyton Manning going out in the AFC championship game on a strange hit and Jim Sorgi playing three and a half quarters against Tom Brady. Simple fact is that Texas had more yards of offense…contrary to earlier statements by you…and Jordan Shipley certainly put on a show.

BSU will have to triple team our NGs. You know what that means? It means our atheltic LB corp will be free to run all over the place. Which means Moore will be pressured as well as Martin. Injuries can happen, and fumbles, and anything can happen. But for Boise to win, they will need luck and perfection. UGA just needs to play to the game. The Defense and the Special teams will carry UGA. it may be a field goal. Boise might have more yards, more any stat you want to plug in, but the Score board will show UGA on top. GO DAWGS!!!

Talk about hard nose running. Again don’t be so ignorant. Tough one for BSU. To Ruta Lin regarding Mark Richt recruiting illiterate football players. You obviously have not heard the Georgia players speak to the public. You should listen to guys like Aaron Murray, Brandon Boykin, Ben Jones and Ray Drew – to name a few – interviews and speeches before you make statements like that. I also bring to your attention Aron White – who has already graduated but will be a senior on the football team this year – he was one of the speakers at the UGA graduation ceremony this past spring and did an excellent presentation. Aaron Murray and Brandon Boykin are both majoring in pre-journalism and broadcast news. I watched their speaking videos at the SEC Media Days last week in Hoover, Ala. Both these guys could forgo their football careers at UGA and today be broadcasting on live TV they are such eloquent speakers. These are guys who spoke spontaneously without any notes or teleprompters. And I doubt you’ve ever heard a sermon by Ray Drew who at 18 is an ordained minister. So much for illliteracy at UGA.

So UGA has a bunch of fat, black offensive and defensive linemen who can’t move against Boise’s quick lines….and I’m supposed to be impressed…LMAO. These aren’t athletes…they’re just something to run around and ignore. Check this out:
Here’s a pretty interesting analysis from one of the Bronco’s forums regarding the UGA running attack against BSU:
“Checking out the UGA boards, they are still all atwitter about their rushing attack and its prospects against lil’ ol’ Boise State.
What UGA fans might not realize is just how well BSU’s rush defense has performed during Coach Pete’s tenure against AQ teams that finished in the top 25, most of which had very good running games. For a barometer, do recall that UGA last year had the #73 rush offense, netting 142.62 yards per game, averaging 4.07 yards per rush.
2006
Oregon State rushed for 58 yards on 32 carries, for a 1.81 yards per carry average. Okay, the Beavers were a poor rushing team that year, #81 in the nation, rushing 118.21 yards per game, averaging 3.49 yards per carry.
Oklahoma rushed for 174 yards on 38 carries, for a 4.57 yards per carry average. The Sooners were the #17 rushing team in the nation that year, averaging 177.14 yards per game, on 4.45 yards per carry.
2008
Oregon rushed for 227 yards on 52 carries, for a 4.36 per carry average. But the Ducks finished the year #2 in rushing with a 280.08 yards per game average, on 6.22 yards per carry.
2009
Oregon rushed for 31 yards on 17 carries, for a 1.82 yards per carry average. The Ducks were #6 in rushing offense that year, averaging 231.69 yards per game, on 5.51 yards per carry.
2010
VT rushed for 128 yards on 44 carries, for a 2.91 yards per carry average. The Hokies were the #23 rushing offense, averaging 198.71 yards per game, on 4.88 yards per carry average.
Other than Oklahoma, which basically was held to its average, all these other teams significantly underperformed with their rushing attacks, averaging at least a 33% per rush average reduction (and as much as 67% reduction). Georgia will be breaking in two new linemen, another inexperienced linemen on their offense. Yes, they will have their all everything FB, and they have a lights out prospect in Crowell, but they also just lost their two most experienced RBs. Boise State is returning its two-deep front seven with only two losses (the first string DE and the second string MLB). The guy replacing the first string DE had more sacks and TFLs last year than the starter.
Looking more closely at UGA, in their last six games, against Kentucky, GT, Auburn, Florida, Idaho State, and UCF, the Bulldogs only bettered their season average yards per carry in two of those games: Kentucky (4.54 yards per carry) and GT (5.31 yards per carry). But those teams had weak rush defenses, Kentucky at #85 and GT at #78–and UGA actually gained per carry less than the Kentucky season average. Granted Georgia got stiffed by the Auburn and UCF rush defenses, #9 and #8 in the nation last year. Boise State was #7, playing against competition that was approximate to UCF’s.
Looking at the historical data under Coach Pete, looking at the state of Georgia’s big question mark with their running game and offensive line, it doesn’t look like UGA should be expected to achieve its average production from last year. Yes, different teams, different personnel, different time, but the variables seem to favor Boise State. A fair to generous estimate would be to expect a UGA performance of 125-150 total yards rushing, on 35-40 carries, a rushing performance equivalent to their games against Tennessee, or Arkansas, or Florida (#60, #71, and #31 rush defenses last year)”

They have developed lean mucsle under Coach T. What is BSU’s record against SEC teams? But any team can win at any time. James Madison proved that as well as well as Jacksonville State. I love all the analysis! Bottom line is this; its UGA’s game to lose and BSU’s game to win. BSU has a lot riding on this game as far as a NC game arguement along with whoever else they play this year that will be of top 25 caliber, which won’t be more than 1or 2 teams on the schedule. So BSU has to win this game. UGA is looking to regain its pride and swagger that was lost last season.
I do think BSU is a good and talented team that benefits greatly from not having to play the week in/week out schedule that a SEC or ACC team plays.
Also, I am so tired of the “SEC won’t play tough OOC games”. Buddy, the SEC doesn’t play OOC games because it dosen too. With typically 2/3rds of the conference in the consistently in the top 20, we don’t haveto go outside to find quality opponents. We’ve got all we need right here in our own conference.
