Former UGA RB Washaun Ealey lands at Jacksonville State

Washaun Ealey has found a home.

Jacksonville State football coach Jack Crowe announced on Thursday that Ealey has enrolled in classes there and will compete for the Gamecocks this fall.

Ealey, a rising junior, was the Bulldogs’ leading rusher last year. He was granted an unconditional release by UGA coach Mark Richt after the two reached a “mutual decision” Ealey would be better off continuing his football career elsewhere.

Ealey was one of two SEC transfers to join the I-AA program this summer. Linebacker Clarence Jackson is coming to Jacksonville State from Ole Miss.

“Both of these players are experienced SEC players,” Crowe said. “We expect both of them to come in and make an immediate impact on our team.”

played in 21 games for Georgia with nine starts during his two seasons with the Bulldogs. He rushed for 1,528 yards and 14 touchdowns, including 811 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games as a sophomore.

Your an idiot Washaun, I am the biggest UGA fan there is and you blew it. All you needed was work ethic and a heart and you would of been fine, who cares if we are loaded at running back the one who shines through would start and get the most carries. You were scared and wanted an easy ride, so you got it… good luck getting to the NFL now at that school. You let me down

Happy for this kid (Washaun) if things don’t work out in one place, try another. Look at Cam Newton

Cam Newton didn’t have a choice, Washaun did, trust me Cam would’ve stayed at UF if he wasn’t kicked out. All Washaun had to do was stay out of trouble and work hard, he had all the tools, but ZERO work ethic or heart. I was a huge fan of his but he was a tease that first year, he has proven he wants the easy way out and that he’s scared of competition. With that said, come on CALEB, MALCOLM, CARLTON, and ISAIH!!! Let’s get an SEC championship! Have fun winning against high school teams Washaun

Just another victim of Richt’s hypocritical oversigning ways. He’s no better than Saban when it comes to manipulating the roster by kicking players off of the team for mysterious reasons. He just pretends to be holier than thou; a wolf in sheeps clothing, if you will. I do at least respect Saban for being a good coach, I can’t say the same about Richt.

Hey Mike, enough already, please. We all have bashed WE3 enough for not working out at UGA. And we know that CMR is/coaches “run by committee.” Best of luck to ya WE3!! That’s on and off the field. Now maybe you will get your 20-30 touches a game like you wanted and deserve as long as you can just “DO RIGHT”

Great job Ealey.

Doing the Cam Newton plan.

Transfer, win a Championship, transfer to a top 10 team, win another 1, go #1 in NFL draft.

Love it.

This is a good team, went 9-3 last year, finished #12 in the country.

If Ealey has a great year there, he can write his own ticket to start and get the lion’s share of the carries for any of Richt’s competitor’s.

Looking back, I think Richt will view the Ealey & Mettenberger losses as the biggest of his career.

At Georgia:

Ealey 5.5 ypc, a td per 20 carries

Herschel Walker 5.3, a td per 20 carries

Ealey beat Walker.

Nuff said.

I am a die hard fan since I was 9 years old, I’m about to be 31, no one wants to see us be great more than me. So please don’t say “Good luck Washaun” “Break Records Washaun” screw that!!!! let’s say “Stay Washaun!!!” “Work harder Washaun!!!” news flash people, they say mutual decision but trust me if that kid wanted to stay, he would’ve been there. Let’s just be real about it, he let our team down.

Been thinking about this guy for a few days, wonderin’ where he’d end up this year. Good to hear he’s heading to a team with 9 wins last year, big step up from 6 win Georgia. Their coach has JS moving in the right direction, as opposed to Richt, who has Georgia moving in the wrong direction.

It is easy for everyone to bash Washaun and say he has no work ethic. Funny how he never lost academic eligibility and his physical size increased dramatically. Amazing how he got that with no work ethic. I am glad he left, who wants to put up with all that crap he was being given. I wish he the best of luck, he will do fine because he will now have the opportunity to do so! Get off his back! Lets see how much better the running backs will be at UGA with that “great” offensive line they have. You know a RB can only go where his line blocks!

UGA HYPOCRITE@8:50 – Do you HONESTLY think Richt kicked WE off for mysterious reasons?? You just have an axe to grind with Richt, not Ealey. You need to find a different column to post on.

As for Ealey, too bad he didn’t produce what was expected. Just another kid that didn’t appreciate what he had and didn’t work to keep it. One day these kids will wake up. Til then, let’s win or lose without them.

Richt has not oversigned, but he has kicked less talented players off the team for minor infractions to open up scholarships while bending over backward to keep starters on the field, regardless of their crime. Richt did not kick Mettenburger off the team. Adams and Evans did. Richt named Mett starting QB after the spring game. Richt is a hypocrite in the mold of his spiritual mentor, Bobby Bowden.

The time for bashing Ealey is way past over; he’s gone, let it go. Yes, he made mistakes and I’m sure he still feels some sense of regret at having to drop down a level to play but it can be a good life lesson for him if he applies it correctly.

He is still very young and has a lot of future in front of him. I wish him the best of luck in taking advantage of this new opportunity.

As for the Richt bashers, I can promise you no one will be happier for Ealey when he finds success than CMR. The things some of you post would be laughable if they didn’t display an almost alarming lack of knowledge, self respect and self esteem.

Ealey was the best rb the dawgs had on the team. None of the other rbs compare to Ealey. Ealey did not have an OL to block for him. I have seen better OLs in AA than UGAs. Good choice Ealey. No use staying on a sinking ship. The last 4 years have been horrible for Uga football. Sad! but TRUE

We are not MR bashers. He is a great man. He is not a football coach. MR is making way to much money to let a program sink like he did the last few years. We have to get a coach who wants to win football games We need a coach that can make the players believe they can beat any team on any given day

Where did Newton go before Auburn? Mt Cody before Alabama? Big LSU D-Lineman last year that wreaked havoc, where was he before LSU? That’s right. They’ll transferred from smaller colleges went on to great years in college, and got drafted high in the NFL.

As meyer looks back, I wonder how much he regrests letting Newton get away because he thought Newton wasn’t a leader. Kind of crazy how much Meyer miscaculated on Newton. Richt did the same on Ealey, no doubt, this back can run, almost 6 yards a carry average at Georgia, Georgia never lost a game when Ealey got 20 carries or more. Over 6 ypc in the 4th quarter, 4th in the NCAA in 4th quarter td’s, Ealey’s conditioning and 4th quarter play was a great example for the team. Ealey led the team in td’s, 11 td’s on only 150 carries, 1 of 4 backs in the country to score that many td’s on less than 160 carries. Amazing, amazing back.

There was no ‘mutual decision”.

ealey spurned Richt.

Ealey scored 11 td’s to King’s 2 td’s, and Richt wouldn’t make him the premiere back.

so Richt had to pay the price for his favortism.

somebody pulled a fast one over on Ealey. He thought he was transfering to USC to be a GameCo.k or Alabama. He missed the part that he was going to school in Alabame to Jacksonville State to be a Gamec..k.

Hey Eastside Good grief son. If you are going all in on using bible verses vs Richt, you might want to read the context first. The verse you are taking out of context and using for your own purpose is about how you shouldn’t show favoritsim for the rich over the poor. James is all about how true faith is shown in caring for the poor and has nothing to do with chooisng a depth chart. (Every coach has to decide who to start and the smart one’s challenge the under-achieving.) Considering Mark Richt spends his summers helping the poor in Honduras, I’d say he is in no danger.
