Athens — Georgia will open the 2013 and 2014 football seasons against Clemson.
The Bulldogs will play Clemson at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 31, 2013, then face the Tigers at Sanford Stadium on Aug. 30 the following year. It will be the first games in this storied rivalry since 2003.
Georgia and Clemson agreed to play in 2013-14 several years ago but just recently settled on the opening dates for those seasons, according to UGA spokesman Claude Felton.
Georgia has played Clemson 62 times — more than any other non-conference opponent other than Georgia Tech — and leads the series 41-17-4. The Bulldogs have won the last five games between the two.
UGA’s other non-confererence home games in 2013 are against North Texas and Appalachian State. They get Charleston Southern and South Alabama in ‘14.
In other scheduling news Thursday the Georgia basketball team announced it will play host to Cincinnati on Dec. 2 as part of the Big East-SEC Challenge.
“Cincinnati will certainly prove to be a formidable opponent for our young team,” Georgia coach Mark Fox said in a statement. “We are happy to be playing this
game in Athens. The move to campus venues, in fact, should give the event a
new feature that will be great for fans of both leagues.”

Ozzfest, I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment of Clemson. I have lived in Athens, and now live 40 miles from the Clemson campus. I find it to be a very nice and enjoyable college town, and no more of a cow pasture than the burbs of Athens. Perhaps you have an axe to grind with Clemson, but you sound like one of the Techies with your comment. I was at Tempe and Boulder myself, but who is trying to compare Clemson with those places? In case your memory has failed you, UGA and Clemson has been a great series over the years, and while UGA has had the upper hand in the series, the games are always extremely competitive and most of the time come down to the “wire”. Traffic problems, yes, but so does Athens!

UGA will lose both games against Clemson; however, the absurd ascertions on these blogs that the ACC is a super weak football conference will continue regardless of the facts! The SEC has 4-6 stellar teams each & every year……..because of the strength up top, the SEC is considered (for good reason) to be the best conference in college football.
The ACC is typically the second to fourth best conference (based on stats and unbiased pundits) when you consider ALL of the teams in the conference……..the ACC simply needs the 3-4 top teir teams to step it up and win more big games (especially during BCS games!!).
We now have the ACC vs. Big10 challenge and the SEC vs. Big10 challenge………..why in the world do we not have a SEC vs. ACC challenge each and every year?????????????????

And, King Saban, if Georgia claimed all of the silly “National Championships” handed out by magazines and newspapers back in the days of leather helmets, we’d be in something greater than the “1 Club”… National Championships in college football are all mythical. We do MUCH MORE with less now that PJ and staff are in charge. Look at our last 3 meetings with georgia. 3, 6 and 8 point differintials. If the games were played on paper (like dog bloggers wish), we would have lost them all by 50, 50 & 50. georgia has fallen and is no better than Vandy, Duke or us. Hrm. I’m really curious why so many people are predicting that Clemson will be that great in 2-3 years. It’s not like they have a huge history of success. Clemson hasn’t won an ACC championship in twenty years (1991 was their last championship). They haven’t lost fewer than four games in a season in more than a decade. As head coach, Dabo Swinney is 20-13. Sure, Clemson has had a couple of good signing days, but we all know how those are no guarantee of anything. So, tell me, why all the confidence in Clemson?

I don’t think that you could call 2 SEC titles and 6 Top Ten finishes in Richt’s 10 years as being irrelevant. I can’t recall when Clemson last won an ACC title.
