Spring break is over at UGA. Classes resumed Monday. Football practice resumes Tuesday.
The Bulldogs, you might recall, opened spring football practice on March 10, holding one of their NCAA-allotted 15 practices before dispersing for the university’s spring break. Twelve days later, practice No. 2 is scheduled for late Tuesday afternoon, and spring ball begins in earnest now. The team will practice three or four times per week through the G-Day game on April 16.
Things will be hopping around the Butts-Mehre building Tuesday. The activity starts at mid-morning with Georgia’s “Pro Day” — 14 players from last season’s team working out for NFL scouts in the weight room and on the practice field. And about the time the current Bulldogs are wrapping up football practice this evening, the Georgia and Georgia Tech baseball teams will be playing across the street at Foley Field.
Speaking of the baseball game: It starts at 7:06 p.m. and will be televised on CSS; it will be Georgia’s first home game since March 6. The Bulldogs (9-11 overall) have played their past nine games in seven different stadiums from California to South Carolina, going 6-3 in that stretch. The game against Tech will be Georgia’s 11th so far this season against a ranked opponent.
Pro Day and football practice are closed to the public, per usual. But the Pro Day workouts will be shown online. ESPN3.com will have live streaming coverage beginning at 10 a.m. at http://espn.go.com/espn3/index?id=162227
More later in the day …

Even though Richt’s 2-8 against Florida, I predict a victory in 2011!

Ok, let’s say you’re right, Richt’s lost more games than the year before 88% of last 8 seasons, but, he got lucky once, so there’s a 12% chance Richt gets lucky again in 2011.

Even though McGarity won’t sign Richt to more years, I think it’s because McGarity thinks Richt’s gonna win a lot of games at Georgia in the future!

Sam, your ignorance is coming through loud and clear when you say Mettenberger transferred when actually he was dismissed by Richt. So why not just give it a break and do us all a favor. Were you actually at the practices and saw on a daily basis how the QB competition went, how they led the teams? I didn’t think so! It gets so old listening to people on these blogs who think they know it all!

Yes, DunceCap, it can get worse. It’s gotten worse every year since 2007 ok? You go form 11 wins in 07′, to 10 in 08′, to 8 in 09, to 6 in 10′, yes, DunceCap, it can get worse. It usually does with Mark Richt. There’s a very, very, very, good chance, almost 90%, it will get worse.

Anyone can see that 2 td’s are better 5, and 3 int’s are better than 1, and a 59% accuracy better than Mett’s 65%, right? At least when you apply Richtification to it, it makes perfect sense that Murray was better than Mettenberger last Spring.

Since dawgtards seem to love living in the past, how about remembering the Jan Kemp trial, which exposed UGA and Vince Dooley for the jokes that they were. My favorite quote from the trial was this one:
O. Hale Almand Jr., a lawyer for the defense, offered a justification for the favorable treatment accorded the athletes, citing a hypothetical player. “We may not make a university student out of him,” he told the jury, “but if we can teach him to read and write, maybe he can work at the post office rather than as a garbageman when he gets through with his athletic career.”
The best thing about the trial was that it completely killed Vince Dooley’s shot at Congress, since he was exposed as a fraud and a cheat during the trial. Make no mistake – Dooley knew everything that was going on.
Nothing has changed in the almost three decades since the trial. If anything, the abuses are even worse. Exhibit #1: Jim Harrick and son.
Today the players are even more illiterate and felonious and, well, just plain stupid, as evidenced by their arrest records and record number of penalties. Even Vince Dooley couldn’t have controlled this mob, much less Mark Richt. And don’t forget the Red Panties.
There’s a reason why UGA is known as The Cesspool of the South.

Ok, you guys know that finishing 10th in offensove points in your conference is great, right? Well, you apply a little Richtification, and that becomes one of the greatest offensive scoring years in Georgia history.

People who get on a blog about an opposing team and bash them constantly is pathetic. Whether their name is Thom, Sam, Nolan, or Richtification it is sad. The fact that you get personal satisfaction out of attacking fans of other teams is low and truly, truly pathetic. Either provide a reasonable point of view or take your ranting somewhere else. This will be the only response you get out of me. Hopefully others will follow suit and just ignore your garbage. It’s how you treat 4 years old to get the to be quiet.

“9th rated offensive line class” in the SEC by Rivals, just ahead of Miss. State and Vanderbilt! Last year you lost Boling , Chris Davis, Josh Davis and Tanner Strickland. This year you lose Sturdivant, Glenn, Jones, and Anderson, and you can’t land offensive tackles Jessamen Dunker, 6′6″ 315, (Fla.)or Cedar Grove’s Brandon Greene, 6′6′ 300 lb.(Alabama) because Bobo’s in love with John Theus. Richt needs to stop listening to the guy. Hell the only reason Figgins is a fullback is because Ben Jones CAN’T BLOCK!

tide roll,
Figgins is a FB because we are low on fullbacks, we have more than enough tight ends, and he is a good candidate. I agree Ben Jones needs help blocking, but don’t make that the prime motivating factor behind the switch. The depth chart dictates it regardless of Jones’ blocking ability.

You have to give the nerds credit! They are much more organized this year. They have the redi-made cut and paste tirades, the list of pseudonyms to post under, the fake Dawg fan profiles all printed out. The catchy little stats and talking points. You have to admit they are sticking to the script this year.
I suppose somebody finally got wise and abandoned that strategy of talking about thier team. That lasted what…about a year? Hey they tried something new, right? Back to the old “fly in the ointment” where they belong now.
Must have been a pretty good turnout at the freshman orientation class on Georgia Blogs.

So let me get this straight. Mettenberger had one good GDay game and he should start? Murray was the #3 Qb in the SEC this year as a FRESHMAN but he wasn’t as good as Mettenberger bc of that one game? Yeah you guys are right! Richt was showing favoritism. Did you jackholes ever stop to think that maybe overall Murray was better and that’s why he started? And Thom! Get your facts straight! Mettenberger DID transfer to Butler, yes. But only after he was dismissed from UGA due to his sexual assault charge. It amazes me that you and some of your dumbass cronies here aren’t SEC coaches because you have it all figured out.

A Georgia fan could say something like, “I really think our long snapper will be better than average this year. If the O-line can gel we might be alright this year.”
But this is what a hater hears: “Georgia will go 14-0 and lay the rest of college football to absolute ruins. Aaron Murray and Isiah Crowell will share the Heisman. Richt will ascendeth in to Heaven and sit at the right hand of God the father almighty.”
Seriously haters, what in the hell is wrong with you?
