UGA football ‘Pro Day’ will air online Tuesday (w/ list of participants)

Georgia’s “Pro Day” will be closed to the public on Tuesday, but you can watch it online at ESPN3.com.

Cassidy Hubbarth and David Pollack will describe and analyze the action, starting at 10 a.m. from UGA’s practice fields.  According to UGA, the event can be viewed at http://espn.go.com/espn3/index?id=162227

More than a dozen members of last season’s Georgia team, including projected first-round draft picks A.J. Green and Justin Houston, will work out for NFL scouts.

In addition to Green and Houston, other players scheduled to participate are: Clint Boling, Shaun Chapas, Vance Cuff, Chris Davis, Josh Davis, Akeem Dent, Demarcus Dobbs, Kris Durham, Darryl Gamble, Chad Gloer, Derek Rich and Kiante Tripp.

And among those expected to be on hand to watch: Detroit Lions (and former UGA) quarterback Matthew Stafford, the NFL’s No. 1 pick in 2009.

Another year another UGA Pro Day. UGA’s players have a dismal year on the field, only to excel at their pro day and make millions in the NFL.

“Something has to change”,

You are either A) one of the UGA sidewalk fans who is impossible to please, where no matter what happens in the UGA program you feel the opposite should have taken place, or B) a Techie, since there are really the only ones obsessed with UGA not winning a NC under Richt. It is your/their only way to feel good about Mark Richt DOMINATING the bees for a decade.

Either way, I say GO DAWGS!!!!!
166 days til’ kickoff!!!

It will be a better year but BoBo calling will make it interesting. Florida will be stronger and SC will be very strong; Georgia will contend well in the East. The West will have LSU and Bama who will stand alone. Auburn will be average as other teams. I think it will be a 3 team battle in the East (SC, Fla., UGA) and a two team battle with Bama winning the west. The SEC can win it all again but there will be several decent teams next year. Expect FSU in the ACC to be very strong.

i am not sure we will win the title but expect 9-10 wins and a decent year.

Go Dawgs!

By the way, Green may regret his decision. UGA will be better and he may get 1.00 and watch college football next year. If the lock out sticks; the rookies will be the ones sitting and getting no pay. They may get drafted but the contracts will be without pay based on the lock out. The ones who suffer the most; the ones who left early.

I think they settle but remember we are dealing with athletes who have millions and sitting may cost old ones but overall; they get a vacation.

Be interesting to see how Georgia responds to another poor start, after the 0-2 start, wonder how the team responds? Richt’s what, 2-9 against ranked teams last 2 seasons. Just been unlucky against ranked teams. And of course the Gators.

With what we pay our kids everyday is “pro day” in Athens.

Closed to the public but on ESPN3? How about opening it up to the public, charge five bucks a head and give the money to charity? Unless the fans are more of a distraction than the cameras.

Rick, AJ has all those leftover jerseys he can sell. He will be fine.

D A DoubleU G, thank you for your comment. I believe that you represent the vast majority who really care about UGA’s football program and the university in general.

For those who are always looking to assign blame to others, I believe that most of you are the “never was and never will be crowd” who’s only avenue to importance is to critize those who have taken the risk to step into the arena. With some, the only wqay for them to rise above the crowd is to climb onto someone’s back.

Gator Gus, how do you know we will be 0-2? The teams haven’t even hit fall practice yet, much less played the games. Keep sending in your donations to the Feed the Wei$$ Fund. He will need it after next year when he leaves to go back to the NFL. I don’t think he and Muschamp will get along.

Richt didn’t win a game against a ranked team last season–hello. Georgia plays 5 teams that had a winning record, that’s 7-5 season at best, since Richt’s been losing those games.

Please keep Richt, he won 90 games in 9 seasons.

You got the same basic coaching staff (Richt-Bobo-Grantham), lost 2 key assistant coaches (Belin-Sereels), and lost best 2 wr’s (AJ/Durham), and best defensive players at LB (Houston/Dent/etc.). Team will be worse, only question is, how much worse?

AJC: “More than a dozen Georgia players, including star WR A.J. Green, will perform for scouts Tuesday.” I’m not sure about the others but I think A.J. will be working some equations for the scouts to prove his 10 on the Wonderlic was wrong. I made higher than that on the Wonderlic and I am just a little dog who got his a$$ painted while doing my best as the Temporary Mascot.

Yeah, you want to know what can change.

New coach who will win fewer games and fewer SEC titles than richt over the next 10 years.

Sub par players who won’t come to UGA and therefore we won’t even need to have a Pro Day because no one will be there to participate.

Be careful what you wish for.

Richt has some things to get fixed but he is competitive and knows he must get it done.

I’m sure as heck pulling for him.

You never know what you are going to get with a new coach

VolsRule

One Vols thoughts of UGA for 2011:

– Think the SEC East is between SC and Florida – with UGA in position to crash the party and be a part of the conversation. Tennessee will play the role as spoiler – just too young and not enough depth – but will be ahead of KY and Vandy – both in rebuild mode

UGA Defense:
Should be improved – got the nose tackle, like your LB’s – and secondary should be better in the second year of the 3/4 scheme.

UGA OFFENSE:
Like your QB and TE’s – RB’s should be good as Crowell will make King and Ealey better – WR’s should be OK – big question mark is OLINE.

Regarding WR’s – UGA won two sec titles last decade – with T. Edwards and S. Bailey in different years – and Fred Gibson – none an AJ Green type of receiver.
Tavaras King and Wooten remind me of S. Bailey and T. Edwards – compliment with Marlon Brown – and the new recruits coming in – I think UGA will be in good shape.

SEC WEST schedule plays a big role:
UGA – Ole Miss, MS State and Aub
SC – Aub, MS St and ARK
FL – Alabama, LSU and AUB (Holy cow!!!)

This favors UGA.

Now comes to coaching – I was a big Richt fan – as UGA reeled in Tennessee and we had some incredible games – but the inconsistency the last few years has me really puzzled about Richt’s motivation and desire to win it all.

Until proven otherwise – I would take SC’s coaching staff and Florida’s new staff over UGA. Charlie Weiss over Bobo as an OC anyday of the week.

Hoping Tennessee’s young Vols will throw a curve ball into several schedules this year – will have to be patient with Dooley’s young team -but the 2012 season – we should be a part of a 4 team race.

At any rate – I would root for UGA over Spurrier and Florida anyday of the week – look forward to UGA visiting Neyland this year.

Go Vols!

Dawg Consultant

Russel, interesting take. Though I am fairly sure after taking to at least two NFL scouts that I have to know from my consulting business, that both Chapas and Durham are already being contacted re: free agent signings. So, in short, I am sure that both will get a shot in the NFL. There is even talk of Durham as a 6 or 7th rounder. As for Chaps; yards per carry don’t really matter much for blocking fullbacks (or don’t you watch much football?).

Neither is a star or a first day draft pick; that is certain. Particularly Durham though has a lot of teams taking a hard look after his performance last season. Chapas is fighting an uphill battle, as are all free agent signees. After all, few teams use a pure fullback anymore.

You my friend seem to know very little about evaluating talent.
