(Updated 9 p.m. Saturday)
ATHENS — Washaun Ealey’s suspension lasted less than three weeks.
The Georgia tailback, suspended indefinitely from all team activities by coach Mark Richt on Feb. 8, has been “reinstated to full team standing,” UGA said Saturday.
That makes Ealey, Georgia’s leading rusher the past two seasons, eligible to participate in spring practice, which begins March 10.
“He’s done a very nice job of doing what I asked him to do,” Richt said Saturday night, “to take care of his business what I call the Georgia way, staying on top of things and being punctual and being prepared. . . . He’s done it with a very good attitude, and now I think he’s ready to integrate back in the rest of what’s going on at Georgia. I’m happy for him.”
Earlier Saturday, Richt said in a statement that Ealey will rejoin team activities Monday.
Ealey, a rising junior, was suspended after failing to report on time for an early-morning punishment run.
The incident was not Ealey’s first brush with trouble at Georgia. He was suspended from last season’s opening game because of an arrest for hit-and-run of a parked vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
“I didn’t think he was handling his responsibilities as well as he should,” Richt said Saturday night, referring to the Feb. 8 suspension. “When I felt like he was back on track, I was going to have him go back to doing what everybody else was doing.”
Ealey played in 12 games for Georgia last season, starting seven and rushing for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns. He rushed for 717 yards as a freshman in 2009, when he played in nine games.
His role could diminish with the arrival this summer of Carver-Columbus tailback Isaiah Crowell, a prized recruit who signed with Georgia this month. Richt said on signing day that he expects Crowell to play “heavily” as a freshman and possibly to get the first carry in the Sept. 3 opener against Boise State in the Georgia Dome.

Tom, Richt kicked 3 off the team last year.
@thuga, more tech envy, PJ can’t recruit , Pj would to flips to get a back like crowell, heck he’s offered over a 1/3 of UGA current roster scholarships.

I’m sure that Richt and UGA will take all kinds of crap on this blog for reinstating Ealey, however, dealing with kids is by definition the business of 2nd chances, and at time multiple 2nd chances as is the case for Ealey. I hope her gets his act together off the field and on.

It was clear from the beginning that the suspension wasn’t because UGA wanted to get rid of Ealey, but because they wanted to get his attention and make him realize he had to do things the right way if he wanted to stay at UGA. Obviously, Richt hoped he would get the message, make the necessary changes, and return to the team. Why would it surprise anyone that that is exactly what happened?
I think the only real question was whether Ealey would accept the punishment as a learning experience and turn things around or simply quit. I’m glad to see that he buckled down and did the things he needed to do to get back on the field. Hopefully this will be a turning point for him as a football player and as a person.

It’s nice when people complain about your 90 yard performances and strong desire to win as “quitting”. Crowell didn’t quit, his offensive coordinator was out-coached by Calhoun’s defensive coordinator. That game, if you were truly there, highlighted Crowell’s unbelievable speed. I’ve never seen a RB leave Calhoun’s speedy secondary in the dust like Crowell did. Yeah, it didn’t count for an additional 50 yards due to a penalty behind Crowell, but Georgia’s 7 coaches (I saw Bobo and Searles next to UGA and Calhoun star Kris Durham personally there) reportedly in attendance definitely took note as well as Saban who was supposedly in attendance.

Most believe Ealey will still transfer, this was a last despserate move by Richt to keep Ealey from transdferring away and leaving Georgia without a rb with any real exeprience, besides ineffective Thomas. Richt couldn’t stop Mettenberger or Logan from transferring, and I doubt Richt cans top Ealey, pretty sure Ealey, like Logan, lost respect for Richt.

Laughable. A whole 3 weeks suspension? In the off-season?? Wow, that’ll teach him.
Hey Mark….Ealey is mocking you. He mocked you buy ignoring your punishment. You won’t win unless you gain the respect of your players. Being their friend first isn’t how you gain their respect. They don’t fear you, Coach. They know whatever they do, they can get away with. Your style of leadership is laughable.

Weall know Richt treats players liike Murray & AJ very differently. AJ wasn’t dealt with as severely when he broke NCAA rules and Murray’s recent actions, much more detrimental to the team than Ealey giving 99% at a workout, Murray’s mistake was laughed off.

When Richt learns some leadership skills he may be a good coach. When he learns to discipline his players rather than try to be their friends, he will be a better coach. Hey Mark, your players mock you. Ealey mocked you when he ignored your last punishment.

Hey David….You do understand Richt kicked Mettenberger off the team, thus he couldn’t stop him from transferring because he was not part of the team. Logan Gray is transferring to either a 1-AA or D-2 school. Another one of those damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t moments for Coach Richt.

Glad to see Washaun do what it took to get back in good standing rather than transferring. Those who think that cmr was going to let him back just because he’s … whatever, are deluded. CMR showed him that he needed UGA more than it needed him. Apparently Washaun agreed.

Isn’t it weird that Ealey & Lemay have both GAINED 15 pounds from conditioning, Murray’s only gained 5 over last year, and yet Murray is not reprimanded for not giving 100% at workouts, and Ealey, who was 3rd in the NCAA in 4th quarter td’s, gets suspended for not working out hard enough.
Double standard, Murray, who doesn’t work out ahrd enough to gain weight like Lemay, gets a pass.

As soon as Richt told Mettenberger that Murray “won’ the starting job, Mettenberger asked to be transfered. That’s well known. Sure, Richt kicked him off after that to add some window dressing, but Mettenberger was transferring regardless of what Richt did after Richt “entitled” Murray with the unerned starting position.

I do believe Ealey will transfer, and he should. If Ealey was EVER going to get 100% of snaps, it was 2010, when he out-performed Caleb 5 to 1 on td production. Yet Richt still didn’t reward Ealey. Might be time to make Richt pay for his entitlement program, much like Mett & Gray made him pay. If Ealey transfers, Georgia will be lucky to win 7 games.

I don’t buy the talk about Crowell or the talk about Ealey. Dawgs are still in trouble at RB position. I hope that Boise State’s defense isnt better than Calhoun High School’s, or Crowell will get stoned off the field and quit in that game.

Richt did the same garbade with Logan last year, making all kinds of promises, that Richt broke tot ry and keep Logan from transferring. Ealey needs to do what’s best for Ealey. Call Logan if he thinks Richt will keep his promises.

Compare the weight gain of Lemay & Murray, or AJ & Ealey, and you’ll see how Richt allows some people to loaf in the weight room without discipline, like Murray & AJ, while punishing players like Ealey, who don’t deserve the punishment.

@David – Just don’t agree with your opinion. I don’t think Ealey can have that much of an effect either way. The main factor if UGA is going to have a good or great year will be the defense! Ealey is and was not going anywhere. He knows CMR does not start true freshmen. This is his year to shine or choke! I.C. will get carries, but not the bulk of them. It’s Ealey’s to win or lose!
Just my opinion.

Was AJ Green’s breaking NCAA rules or little weight gain ‘the Georgia way”? What a joke. Murray’s weight gain is a joke compared to Lemay, who’s only been in the program a few weeks. Murray loafs in the weight room, so did AJ, neither get disciplined.

A few comments about the UGAy-UCF game:
1. It was obvious that neither the UGAy goons or coaches were ready for the game. It was obvious that UCF was.
2. The whole team sucked.
3. How much longer will dawg fans put up with this kind of crap with Richt as coach? More importantly, how long will McGarity put up with it?
4. Some of the UGAy players, and a lot of the fans were crying after the game ended. This was a heartwarming sight for decent, intelligent people to see.
5. When the cameras zoomed in on some of the UGAy fans, it was very clear why most states have laws against incest. It was also clear why beer companies are so profitable.
6. How much stuff has A.J. Green sold already? How much is his stuff discounted when UGAy loses and he plays like crap? :-)
7. How is Russ taking the loss? Oh, I see, he’s crapping all over everybody. Sorry about that, coach Richt. I’m sure those stains can be removed from your pants.
8. Aaron Murray demonstrated how devastating it was to lose Zach.
9. Good news for the seniors who played their last game for UGAy – you’ll never have to spend another night in the Athens jail. The lawyers and bail bondsmen of Athens salute you.

Richt re-instates Ealey, surprise, no choice there. The question is:
Will Ealey re-instate Richt? Gray & Mettenberger didn’t, don’t think Ealey will either. I expect Ealey will transfer soon, to be rewarded with working hard and big weight gains in the weight room, with punishment runs, when guys like AJ Green, Durham, and Murray slide by without results, it’s pure favortism, and Richt will likely pay the price of Ealey following stars like Mettenberger & Gray to seek a more fair head coach.
Richt’s losing respect. Exepct Ealey to transfer. Richt will not be re-instated by Ealey.

It’s common knowledge Mettenberger was going to ask for a transfer at a meeting he had set up with Richt, when Richt got wind of it, Richt decided to save face by “letting Mettenberger go”. Mettenberger is too good to play #2 to a 6-7 starter like Murray.

It’s good to see some running backs reinstated. We could be in trouble this season if we can’t keep our running backs out of jail and off suspension. Imagine if we have to turn to passing and kicking because we don’t have anybody eligible to run the ball. Coach will get steamed if that happens.

Good point Reed, Murray is a slow starter, he started out 1-4 last year, really struggled without AJ Green to bail him out on all his inaccurate passes. Now that AJ’s gone, I expect Murray’s inaccuracy to be amplified, especially in the first 2 games. Lemay will be starting by game 3, one way or another.

Ealey is obviously not the most mature guy on the team. But, he’s paid the price (more than once) and hopefully he’s finally gotten the message. I just hope he has a great season and gotten all the nonsense out of his system.

Almost glad Richt’s entitlement policy will let Murray start the season out, regardless of how well Lemay and Mason do in Spring. As we learned last Spring, Richt already has his mind made up who his QB is before the workouts and practices. Performances pre-season don’t matter to the guy Richt’s entitled to start. That just means everybody will be crying for a QB change after Murray gets crushed in the first two games, ESPECIALLY if Ealey transfers, like so many on here are saying. I also feel Ealey’s best move is to transfer. Eaely will never get the reps he deserves under Richt & Bobo, they’re too in love with the PASS.

Pretty widely know it was because Joe T spouted off at Ealey after reviewing a videotape of Ealey’s workout, that in his feelings, Ealey didn’t give 100%. That’s bogus. AJ or Murray are the ones that should be doing punishment runs for not working out hard enough, not Ealey or Leamy, they’ve both added a lot of muscle.

What was widely known is that Mett was going to get charged with the sexual assault in the end. That was pretty much on the grapevine long before spring practice was in full swing. Richt did him a big favor letting him audition for his next school during the G-day game. By that point , his fate was already sealed here. BTW, he hardly “won” the job. He was not as consistent reading the defense in the coaches mind during the first 2 closed scrimmages. He did have a very decent controlled, scripted, G-day game.

It is a good thing CMR has brought Ealey back. Last night at GT Crowell stated that he wants to be a freshman All-American and gain over 1000 yards. It was also reported by Tim Tucker that he was the star of the event which honored coaches for their accomplishments. Crowell will need the largest helment size available and some humble pie before the kickoff against Boise State.

I suppose not everyone is treated the same way. Call it favortism or just being human, Richt has to come to grips that not treating everyone the same way creates animosity on the team. I for one am glad Ealey decided to man up and gtet back on the team.
Hopefully there will be alot of competition at RB during spring drills which is very healthy for all the athletes. Crowell i’ll say has the advantage coming in because he’s a blue chipper and has no demerits toward him as the others have. Kinda like a virgin if you will.
I dont know first hand what transpired between CMR and Crowell to get him here but im sure whatever he said is what the other coaches with other programs tells 5 star athletes. If you were not there i dont think its fair to accuse or assume that Richt did any wrong. In his tenure at Georgia there hasnt been any findings that Georgia Football has broken rules that resulted in scholarships. Give the guy a break because he’s trying and thats all we can ask for right now.
If Crowell starts then so be it, im sure if he had terrible practices CMR wouldnt start him nor would you and if he did it would be because he won the right to start. Im sure that CMR will play him and not redshirt him unless hes that bad or injured.
You know its no ones fault but Herschel Walker spoiled us and we all keep looking for RB’s to emerge as Herschel did but man he probably was one of the greatest RB’;s in college football history and we may never see a guy like that again.
Also CMR has a different mindset than Dooley did, 1 more of a passing game and the other loved to run the ball and control the clock. Myself i love the running game but if they play a more balanced game i’ll be happy. I never wanted to see CMR go somewhere else but i think Mike Bobo has really hurt Georgia’s Program.
Sorry CMR but that is the one area that will haunt Georgia until he’s fired or gone. We’ll win the majority of our games but will never make it to the Big Show and Bobo will be the reason. Call me anti this or that but im being logical. When you face great teams that have really good Defensive Coordinators then it pits your knowledge against his knowledge and usually it comes down to experience on what formations to call on certain downs. Its almost like Bobo has a check list and checks off plays as the game goes on and never looks at the actual game for the other teams weaknesses or mis matches.
Maybe this year our Defense can save our Offense and make it easier for them to have opportunities to score. As for me, i’ll still cheer for my Georgia team but in the back of my mind the biggest blunder was hiring Mike Bobo as OC and Dooley letting go of Erk Russell.

Oh yeah, I guess he’s really lost his touch since he just whipped up one of the best classes to come to Athens in a decade. If you people want a national championship every year, why don’t you just go to the …………… Oh wait, there aren’t any schools that win the NC every year, or the SEC or any other championship……….grow up people. Come up with some facts or at least admit you’re OPINIONS are not worth typing on a blog……

if CMR doesn’t have control, then I’m ok with it. I am sorry everyone is bent out of shape for Ealey being suspended for three weeks during February, but it is a huge difference from the previous couple of years. I think CMR knows he has a stable full of backs for 2011 and doesn’t have to bend over backwards for any of them. That could be the message that needed sending to old and new alike.
Personally, and I have stated this before, I don’t think IC is the savior of this program. I do think that he will contribute. But from what I have heard (and I am looking forward to G-Day to see for myself) Boo Malcome is the real deal and will be the surprise of the SEC this year…just so long as Coach Friend can get the “Big Uglies” up front to block someone.

Murray’s fourth quarter stats were bad for several reasons. The defense could not stop the opponents and he had to pass to try to win. He had to play against better defenses. He had to pass because of Bobo’s lack of understanding a running game. All his running for his life would be a good workout program at a gym. No help from the running game. They had to pad A.J.’s stats to make up for his four game suspension. But he was the darling that some wanted to start as a first year injured freshman instead of Cox. You have to blame Richt for not giving back up qbs some experience to off set one of them having a bad game and no one else to turn to.

All we can hope is whatever CMR is pulling works. Something has to change on the team from the past couple of seasons. Personally I think Earley is a good runner but lacks something that could make him great. Some of the things that were said of him in high school have proven to be true at UGA. Not surprised these issues have followed him. Maybe CMR is trying a new way to inspire players. We need it after a 6 win season with a bunch of seniors playing.

These blogs in the AJC accomplish exactly what the management wants. They increase the web hits and allow the AJC to say it has a great readership, to justify over charging for the printed paper.
It also allows a bunch of folks that would otherwise have no avenue to express their hate for UGA to spout off with unsubstaniated claims and think they actually know what goes on at UGA.
FACT: None of us are privy to know what CMR does completely, what Ealey had done or is doing. All we know is what we, for the most part, read on here. In the opinion of most of these folks that post negatively on here, CMR is damned if he does, Damned if he doesn’t. Truth be told, 99.9% of the negative people that post on here, never played organized football, never participated in any type of team organization, and in their minds, they are the greatest thing since beer was invented. Unfortunately, some partake of the spirits too much, before sitting down in front of their computers.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinions but it would be nice if they acted like an adult, instead of resorting to such childish and stupid remarks as you see, mostly on these blogs. There are a bunch of people and for sure, some people on these blogs that use the required name block, as a way of hiding behind their own stupidity with thier childsih remarks, playing out their own little fantasy to make them feel important.
People should feel honored that the UGA staff even makes half of what goes on in the athletic dept. public so some lame people can have some negative fuel to make childish comments about. I am sure that CMR,the players and most of the UGA fans and alumni get a real laugh after reading such childish stuff.
When the games are played, then you have a legitimate reason to voice your negative opinions if UGA does bad, in 2011. Even if your remarks will still be just as childish as they are now. Until then, your opinions hold about as much water as a bucket with 1000 holes in it. Since I know you will still act like the back end of a mule for the most part, at least have the intestinal fortitude to substaniate your claims with facts. In other words, if you have no facts, don’t invent them just to have some negative blog remarks to make.

The Georgia way? Georgia needs to find a new way and these little catch phases are not going to get it. A three week suspension is not even worth the paper it is written on, but this is the Georgia way and it doesn’t have to be put on a poster. Georgia designs everything to meet the imagination of a PR driven product while the transparency they don’t want is always getting though the spin. The AD with the underwear, arrest and reaction from a space cadet coach who is covered with makeup ,talking points and advertising jungles is not going to get the program back. Watch an old interview with Vince Dooley and think if you were one of his players if you wanted some of that. No perfume just straight talk, and everything was not always perfect. Learn from that Georgia before it is too late.

Mark better have more than one back (crowell) ready for play this year. You must have three RB’s to survive the SEC. Bama had Trent and Mark and both were hurt the entire year. You need injury luck in order to make a run at anything but hitching your wagon to a true freshman from day one is a huge gamble. Tommy Bowden made this same mistake as you recall in 2008. He gave his bigtime freshman the ball on his 1st carry and the kid fumbled in the Dome. Crowell will be a good one but he isn’t the type of runner that can standup to all the hits of 18-22 times per game. JMO.

@ dawgfan, I agree that Ealey hasn’t killed or assaulted anyone, but is that what it takes for CMR to throw someone off the team? Don’t gloss over the fact that he crashed someone else’s car while on a suspended license and left the scene. That’s not the same thing as jaywalking. If I remember correctly, he got in trouble again and then skipped his punishment run… which is why he was suspended “indefinitely”. The main question is does Ealey or the other 12ish Dawgs that got in trouble even respect CMR? If you look at the last 3 or 4 years I think the answer is no. Add a 6-7 season on top of that and it’s just bad all around.

If anyone thinks that the running back situation is settled please think again. The arrival of Crowell is not going to be as big as most fans believed. The presence of Ealey is required to enforce the level of competition. There may have been promises made to Crowell, but in reality the lack of depth is more relevant than any dog fans really wants to admit.
Georgia will with no doubt be a much improved football team, but not at the level expected from die hard bulldog fans. Too many key player losses, youth and and underlying level of mistrust in the core of the team.
If UGA finishes 8-4 and plays in a decent bowl game the bulldawg nation should be proud, but in reality, the 7-5 to 9-3 level is more in line, and if the first two games go against the Bulldawgs we will see an implosion of the squad and even beating a team like Auburn in Athens will become a tall order.
The biggest question is: Can Mark Richt get the chemistry back? Two years ago it was the defense and coaches that took the blame, last year it was the youth at qb, the play calling and the loss of AJ Green as blamed. The recruits are signed, the coaching staff has been revamped and now within 3 weeks the foundation is being formed. What comes of the next 5 weeks will determine the mental toughness for the 2011 season.

When Richt makes his mind up pre-season, Richt doesn’t change his mind. Look at Cox, then Murray. Richt stays with guys, even after they prove they’re nothing but guys who choke under pressure. Now Richt has made up his mind about Crowell starting, Ealey is a targeted scapegoat for a failing program, like Mettenberger was. Richt thought the team would get bwetter when he booted out Mettenberger last year. Richt was wrong. Ealely’s best chance at playing in the NFL is to transfer.

I agree with all about the entitlement, without a doubt, Murray has slacked in the weight room, and it showed up in abysmally poor 4th quarter performances all season long, man, rarely will you see a QB allowed to start who’s that out of shape. And Murray never gets disciplined, even when he opts to play soccer and risk his team’s season. Just blatant favortism at work. Murray has put on very litte weight gain, compared to work out warriors like Christian Lemay.

Crowell won’t get enough carries to gain 1000 yards. He’d need at least 200 carries. Bobo or Richt won’t let a RB get that many touches. They don’t believe you win the SEC by a run first offensive approach, they believe, who knows why, you win the SEC being pass first. Crowell will fall far short of his goal like the many backs before him. Georgia under Richt just doesn’t curn out 100 yard rushers, rarely even lets a back get 100 yards rushing in a single game. Likes to rotate 4 or 5 guys for the running game. It is odd, Richt’s record is 40-3 when he gets a 100 yards rusher.

Let’s look at what happens if Ealey & Lemay both transfer. You’re left with 6-7 starter Murray, who went 0-6 against winning teams. And Crowell, it’s hard to imagine Crowell exceeding Ealey’s 5.5 ypc average at Georgia or td per 20 carries ratio, both matching Herschel Walker. Crowell gets beat pass blocking, Murray gets injured from a blinside missed block by Crowell, and Hutson Mason comes off the bench to try and save the season, trying to survive Crowell’s missed pass blocks.

Look, we all know Richt plays favorties over Washaun Ealey.
Last year, Murray committed 4 turnovers against Florida and wasn’t benched.
Ealey committed 1 fumble and was benched.
AJ breaks NCAA rules and Richt stands up for AJ and tries to get AJ’s discipline shortened, Ealey allegedly loafs during a workout, according to Joe T’s feelings, and Ealey gets barred from the buildings and suspended indefinately?
AJ & Murray loaf in the wight room, don’t add weight gain, perform terrible in the 4th quarter because they’re out of shape, and neither get discipliuned for not giving 100% in the weight room.
Players don’t respect Richt anymore because he just plays favorties.
Georgia has never lost a game where Ealey either:
1- gets 25 carries
2- gains 100 yards rushing
Yet Bobo continues to put his trust in Murray?

In the 1986 Jan Kemp trial, O. Hale Almand Jr., a lawyer for UGA, offered a justification for the favorable treatment accorded the athletes, citing a hypothetical player. “We may not make a university student out of him,” he told the jury, “but if we can teach him to read and write, maybe he can work at the post office rather than as a garbageman when he gets through with his athletic career.”
That trial exposed UGA for the football factory that it was, and exposed Vince Dooley as a fraud and a sleazebag. It also derailed Dooley’s plans for a political career. That’s why we see the decrepit old fraud doing TV commercials even now.
Mark Richt is just the latest in a line of sleazy UGA coaches who coddle athletes and discard them after four years of football. He recruits illiterate morons he knows aren’t smart enough for college, but he doesn’t care, as long as they help him line his pockets with millions of dollars each year.
Suntanned Saint Mark isn’t all he appears to be, is he?

Richt is likely counting on Crowell’s present to keep Ealey in line. For the first time Ealey might actually lose his starting job. Richt only kicks troublemakers off the team when the media spotlight is intense and his job is at stake (see Mettenberger), and with no external pressure the FSU mentality dominates.

its quite obvious that no one on here has ever seen lemay. !5 pounds is an exageration to say the least. He is 175-180 at most. and if he did put on 15 pounds of muscle since mid january the next thing we will be writing about is the steriod use at UGA. So fess up has anyone on here ever seen him in person since he got to UGA? I have and he is a twig. Murray is solid already. And mason is solidly above 200-205. The thing you should worry about is keeping the red shirt on him. If he is (and I doubt it) the next great thing. He needs to grow and learn for a year at least. We better hope Mason is the one if Murray gets hurt. If not were back to a green undersized freshman who has not even taken a hit in a real game since his junior year. WOW that sounds fun.

Ealey will transfer. He has been treated unfairly by Richt over and over. Richt picks on Ealey for some reason and was more strict on Ealey than guys like AJ Green or Murray, both don’t take the weight room seriously and play terrible in the 4th quarter due to awful conditioning. Looks like another case of Mettenberger, Gray, now Ealy, Richt never seems to learn that you only play the guys that EARN it, not those that are entitled or favorites.
Change or guys will keep transferring because they don’t trsut Richt to be fair.

I agree with Sam, I don’t have much positive to add so rather than constantly bash the program I mostly read with amusement, frustration, and sometimes aggravation at how so many can overlook so much, sugar coat it and swollow it. We have a pretty good recruiting class coming in, a new OL coach, new S&C coach, new LB coach. How much difference can these guys make? Only time will tell. The thing that concerns me most is the mental approach the players take. Have things gotten so stale here that it will be business as usual, can CMR direct the change in attitude that needs to take place. It hasn’t been much fun being a Dawg the last several years for a lot of us that follow the program. I fear the Leadership isn’t up to the challenge, I can only hope I’m wrong.

Nope. Murray went 6-7 in his first season, Richt’s worst season in his 20+ year career. And Murray has yet to beat a team with a winning record. Murray lost to Florida, lost the Bowl game, and couldn’t score a TD on div rival South Carolina.

1.)Richt is in a much different place in 2011 than he was in 2002.
2.)Shockley was a high character guy and despite his commitment to UGA and to Richt, he almost transferred.
3.)Lemay won’t sit for 3 years and wait on Murray to graduate
4.)Lemay IMO, will be a big piece of the offense in 2011 and beyond and can also provide insurance in case of injury.
Bottom line, Richt can’t afford to let him sit.

Ealy needs to be gone. This kid has not done a thing with the opportunity presented to him. He started off his Freshman campaign running hard, but his brushes with the law, and case of fumbleitis last year has way more to be desired. Ealy was trouble back in high school and barely qualified academically by some kind miracle, which is not hard at all to do with the level they must score on their tests to get in. I’m no rocket scientist myself, but failing to qualify or barely squeaking by isn’t exactly what a troubled program needs. Next situation he gets into needs to be his last. If Georgia wants to get away from this mentality and being known for this behavior, it needs to cut ties with all the cancer that is currently in the program. I believe this incoming Freshman class has exactly that, class and a strong will to wanna return Georgia back to the SEC Championship. We will find out soon enough, but I’m not happy at all with Ealy being back with the team he turned his back on when he decides to be late, not show up for punishment, etc.

Being the #1 RB recruit in the country Crowell should get the start if he does everything he is suppose to do. King and Ealey are running on thin ice with the off the field behavior. I say if they slip again good bye. The team doesn’t need that distraction this year or any year that matter.

I love how Cam Newton did it.
He tried to beat out Tebow, coach played favorties, Newton transferred, won a JUCIO Natl Championship, got a chance to play in the SEC, won a National Championship with Auburn, drafted #1 in NFL likely, #3 at worst.
Fairley started at JUCO, went to LSU, and will be drafted top 10 in the NFL.
Mt. Cody did it too. Started out JUCO, transferred to Bama, won a Natl Championship, went Pro.
Look for Ealey, Lemay, Figgins, to try the same plan.

Good point Timothy, the JUCO route is a great plan that works when coaches play favorites. Newton, Fairley, Cody, Mettenberger won the JUCO Natl Champ last season, just like Cam did. He’s going to be an amazing SEC QB. 1000x better than Joe Cox Jr.(Murray).

Kind of scary how far off Coach Richt was when it came to Mettenberger & Murray. Richt thought Murray would be great and have a great year surrounded by 10 returning starters. Murray flopped and went 6-7. Richt didn’t think Mettenberger had leadership abilities, and Mettenberger led his team to a National Champuionship and went undefeated. Just goes to show you, even going back to Joe Cox, Richt’s been wrong on the QB ever since Stafford left.

Absolutely true. If Richt knew how to reverse his losing trend (7 out of last 8 seasons gets worse than previous season), then he would have fixed it. But since Richt hasn’t fixed, that means at least 90% of the time, Richt doesn’t know how to fix his losing trend.

This deel with Richt is making me sick and I don’t car if he can’t get his players to stay out of jail and in the clasroom he needs to make ‘em do it the Georgia way. Doing it the Georgia way may seem sillie to some people but its the way we like to do it and that way is why we are so succesfull when we get out of Georgia and go on with our carears whatever they might be while we run this state the way only Georgian people can do with our UGA educations and our pedigreas from UGA. Washwan was never really a Dawg because he couldn’t stay out of jail and out of truoble enough to make it to practices and to games because he was a jailbird on a team of jailbirds and that is not the Georgia way as much as it is the Tech way and everybody knows that because we run this state and thats because we have the best educations and pedigress from UGA.

But they reserve the right to cast darts at kids drinking underage or guilty of driving misdemeanors. But its OK to systematically break NCAA and University rules and play in a Bowl game just to protect the bottom line. I head Tavarres King was the angriest cat on the team. He’s hot about averaging @20 yards a catch, almost 5 more than AJ super hero, and yet not getting the reps. He earned it, but Richt ignored him.

Buckeye well if there is money in it its 2-1 for reduction…without money on the line they will uphold their lofty standards. And try an spin misdemeanor arrests as worst than cold bloodied “give me give me give me cause I’m a ball player” is just lame even for a Buckeye.

Aron White ain’t happy. Logan got the shaft, and then White got what 9 or 10 passes? He’s the #2 ranked TE in America man, averages bout 16 yards a catch at Georgia, that ain’t right.

No, Lemay or Mason are not both with R2DT, but Mason is 100% transferring with R2DT but will head to a non-LSU school n 2012, since Mettenberger is already at LSU where R2DT will all join up in 2012. Mason said to be interested in working with Weis.

Can you imagine if that was a UGA football player. Oh the indignation.
Man, ya’ll go easy on Murray, he’s a great QB, played us really tough man. We hope Georgia sticks with Aaron Murray for 3 more years.
I hope we do too. He had the top passer rating for all freshman QB’s and stands only to improve.
No too often we lose to South Carolina anyway. UGA owns South Carolina.

Dallas: If you have watched Gray over the last 3 years you know he isn’t an SEC starting QB and Mettenberger committed a serious crime. If he had not had some bigtime help he would be serving time. If CMR had kept him you would be leading the mob to can CMR, just like you are doing now.. Gray apparently is a fine young man but so are a lot or others. You and your ilk remind me of a malcontented wife. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I have heard of people that “don’t know anything” but you and your fellow Richt-bashers “don;t even suspect anything”.

I never realized so many other schools fans were concerned about UGA’s sports. Got them suckers shaking in thier boots already and we haven’t even had a spring practice yet. A lot of the folks with all their negative comments just fortify my belief that UGA is going to be a team to be reckoned with this year. Sweat it out haters, because you will for sure be hurting come football season. Not a one of us will have any effect on what goes on when the teams start play. No one takes 99.9% of the haters comment on here seriuosly and I find them kind of funny, but at the same time sad. To think that the majority of these negative people, have nothing better to do than insult UGA, makes me feel sorry for them. They must have a pretty bad family situation I guess.

Buckeye…this is the leader of your team….Pryor even sold a sportsmanship award from the 2008 Fiesta Bowl, along with his 2008 Big Ten championship ring. More egregious to Ohio State fans, he sold a “gold pants” trinket — an iconic charm given to players who are a part of a victory over archrival Michigan. He may not be easily forgiven by Buckeyes fans who revere such traditions. Pryor must repay $2,500 for selling the three items…oh and sorry I was wrong yesterday you have 5 players that have to sit for 5 games..and one that has to sit 1 game…26 game total…and a lock for 2011 on the Fulmer Cup.

Guys, give Richt a break. He needs Ealey this year in case Crowell gets injured or gives up on his team like he did in high school. Crowell is very sensitive and gets his feelings hurt when he is losing…which is why I wish we would have gotten Caffey and/or Bray.
I regret to say I think both will be better at the college level.

I have spoken to several large UGA donors lately and they expect Auburn University to get slapped with numerous infractions within the next several weeks. These donors have spoken with coaches who think the SEC and Mike Slive are about to have major problems because they new of text message’s and phone conversations that existed between Auburn, UT and Cecill Newton. This is the fiasco that the SEC will take 10 or 15 years to get over. Understand this…I take no pride in watching this unfold! It is bad and looks bad for all of us. I am ashamed of the SEC.

Buckeye college sports is the only place I can think of where you can’t “legally” sell something you own that is not a controlled substance or a firearm. And the ramifications are worse than doing something that gets you ticketed or arrested. Driving on a suspended license gets you a ticket or arrested depending on where it happens. Drink underage on almost any college campus and you get a ticket at UGA you get arrested..if you play sports particularly . I think not being able to sell something you own is as big a crime as a 18 year old not being able to legally buy alcohol..that being said I think the TAT 5 have shown a lot of class coming back to play this year..hell you’ll more than likely win the Big 10 title again but the Fulmer Cup is still going to be yours..

When you hold Sunday School for the players, They Know how how unforgiving the coach will be.
Have those 4&5 star recruits learned their first lesson already? We already got coached down to 3&4 stars now? I think so. Here we go again. Those who say that Georgia fans cannot be critical of ‘coach’ and players are those who give unconditional love to all things Georgia. Unconditional love will not be served up in SEC Football games. Butt whippings will be served up by other SEC Football Teams that have enough respect for themselves and their teammates to play football the way it is supposed to be played. I dread next season already. More gimmicks and excuses.
Fire Mark Richt NOW. As a motivator of young MEN, coach richt has lost his direction. Please coach, put out those feelers; line up a new job; and get the heck out of the way. You are corrupting what could again be an SEC Football powerhouse. Please let poor old Erk Russell stop spinning in his hallowed grave over your ineptness as a coach. Eric Dooley will whip yours in the next season. And by that time, perhaps a few more forgiving Georgia football fans will have sufficient cause to doubt you. Take your $2,000,000.00 and GO AWAY!

This is to Ealey. Play like you are capable of playing and trust your teammates to do their part and rush for over 1000 yards this season. Look at what you can accomplish and just do it.no excuses.
I know you have made some bone-head decision but who hasn’t ! As a fan of yours, I can honestly say that I’ve been dissappointed but I also believe that you have the ability to be a great back if you will get your priorities straight.
To King, Malcome and Crowell.. You guys are needed if Georgia is to be successfull. To the Offensive and defensive players, I ‘m convinced that you guys are going to be explosive and dominating this year if you play to your potential.
To all the Georgia players. It can’t be about me,it’s got to be about you collectively as a team. Correct or not, the judgment of your performance will be based on the team’s performance and it’s either something to be proud of or a failure-you decide-we fan’s will support and take a wait-to-see attituide.
Coaches – Push these guys like never before, accept no excuses and don’t forgive lack of performance and professionalism. It’s about Georgia, the tradition, the pride, the committment to excellence, that teams before have demonstrated before and now you have the chance. Don’t let yourself, the university, the fans and the SEC down. GO “JUNKYARD DAWGS”…
