FYI … Georgia’s 2011 football schedule

The ACC released Georgia Tech’s (and other conference teams’) 2011 football schedules this afternoon. So just in case that news has any of you looking around for Georgia’s schedule –- most of you, I know, already have memorized it –- I figured I’d post it here again:

Sept. 3: vs. Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in the Georgia Dome.

Sept. 10: vs. South Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 17: vs. Coastal Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 24: at Ole Miss.

Oct. 1: vs. Mississippi State in Athens.

Oct. 8: at Tennessee.

Oct. 15: at Vanderbilt.

Oct. 29: vs. Florida in Jacksonville.

Nov. 5: vs. New Mexico State in Athens.

Nov. 12: vs. Auburn in Athens.

Nov. 19: vs. Kentucky in Athens.

Nov. 26: at Georgia Tech.

A few things jump out:

  • The difficulty and the magnitude of the first two games.
  • Eight of the 12 games are in the state of Georgia.
  • After trips to Tempe, Ariz., Stillwater, Okla., and Boulder, Colo., the past three seasons, the longest trip will be to … Oxford, Miss.
  • There’s an open date preceding the Florida game. (Will Muschamp’s Gators also have an open date that week.)

If we win the first two, it will be a special year. If we split the first two, 9-3 is the best we can hope for. If we lose the first two, we might not recover. Starting with Boise St. will hopefully give some focus to the offseason preparation, like 2005.

Ok, first two games are losses, both Boise St and South Carolina are pre-season top 10 teams. Georgia’s coming off a 6-7 season, just trying to win more than 6 games, ok? Other losses are MSU, Auburn & of course Florida, Richt’s afraid of the Gators. So, should finish 7-5 as the rest of the teams on the schedule will have losing records as usual, but, Richt usually finds a way to lose to one of those too, it was Colorado last season, so now you’re back to 6-6.

I’m a Vols fan and I’ve been watching Boise for years, they’d be competing for SEC champ every year like Bama. I think they’d beat my Vols too, they beat Oregon the last couple of years who crushed my team and almost beat Auburn. It’s easy to see if you look objectively.

It’s an easy schedule after the first two games. Easy enough for Richt to keep his job, which may or may not be a good thing.

I think we are just good enough for him to stay another year (due to the fanatical support of our more religious fans) but not good enough to win the east.

Didn’t we have to hear this same crap a few years ago? How will poor little Georgia handle playing against powerhouse Boise State? They were supposed to “handle” Georgia that year too and what was that score again? Yea, it was an embarrassment as the Dawgs killed them. I know that was several years back but the outcome will be the same. I know that Georgia was terrible last year but things should be turned around now. The bright side is Murray will throw for 3000 yards and 25 touchdowns again.

Murray will have big games against New Mexico, might put up 5 like he did against La Laffeyette last season.

I also expect Murray to play big against Coastal Carolina. Look for 4 td minimum there.

Vanderbilt? Please, no match for Mighty Murray. Another 4 td day.

Murray will play well against Tech too, a 4 td day.

Murray went 1-3 without AJ Green, 5-4 with AJ Green as WR. So, now that AJ’s gone, probably looking at 3-9 without AJ Green, remember, Murray lost 75% of his games without AJ Green to bail him out.

At least we have an open date before the Florida game. When Dooley was coach, we usually had an open date there also. I know it doesn’t guarantee a win, but an extra week to heal and prepare makes a difference. This makes alot more sense than playing for eleven straight games, then taking a week off with only one more regular season game.

Mark Richt will turn it around and have a great year. I can’t understand why so many DAWG fans want Richt gone. He is the best coach in school history. In the 17 years between Herschel and Richt, UGA never won an SEC title or played in SEC title game. One bad season in the toughest conference in the country does not wipe out his great record.

South Carolina is loaded and it will take an amazing effort to beat them . They are not near as tough later in the year when their lack of depth show’s up. But they play there best ball the first 5 games before the starters get warn out or hurt. If we concentrate on stopping Lattimore , shutting him down completely, I don’t think Garcia is good enough to carry the game.

After last year, I cannot believe any UGA fans are making predictions about how good UGA will be this coming season. If someone would have told me last years squad, with a phenomenal year from Murray, would have finished anything less than 9-3, I would have said he/she was nuts. But, that’s exactly what happened–despite a good year from Murray, the dogs posted a losing record.

Great to be excited about a good recruiting class, but this UGA fan has nothing to say about how we will do next year–and no other sensible fan should either.

If MR makes the changes needed it should be a great season. He needs to get a running game, an hard-nosed OL, a defense to stop run, less penalties, a kicker to kick it in the endzone, a better kick off cover team, a gutsty play caller, take some chances, a DL coach, an upbeat practice schedule, better strength and conditioning, no swimming!SEC!, PLAY THE BEST PLAYERS, LEADERSHIP!, AND SO ON. MRs teams beat theirselves.

Don’t understand the pessimism. UGA should be loaded this year and i EXPECT us to win the SEC east this year because of following.

AM will be all-sec
Running game will be much improved. We just signed #1 running back prospect in america.
OL returning 4 starters (Jones, Glenn, Sturdivant and Gates)
DL should see biggest improvement with JJ on board
LB should be solid under second year tutelage of CTG
Secondary should be very good as well.
Both kickers are back and should be best tandem in america
We have one of the best kr in Brandon Boykin returning.

Schedule is much easier and player should be hungry after 2 disappointing seasons.

Also, player should be stronger and in better shape because of nutritionist and weight room changes.

The only group i see that won’t be as good as last year is WR but how can we expect to be as good there when we lost the best wr to ever play at UGA AJ Green.

I think we could have a pretty decent year 9-3 perhaps…2012 could shape up to be real special…we are not going to go undefeated but if we get the luck we didn’t get last year we will be much better than last year…but it will come down to how can the OL shape up and can we stay somewhat injury free.

Champaign Dawg

Canton – I would say that history has taught us to be pessimistic.
AM’s improvements might be offset by drop in WR play.
Crowell might be great, might not. Wasn’t overwhelmed by him when he played my Grangers on ESPN.
OL returned 5 starters last year and was terrible. Now gotta get used to a new coach too.
Yeah, DL should improve. Again, though, coaching change could affect us here, at least early.
But LB loses our best defender of the last 2 seasons.
Agreed, special teams should be very solid.
Secondary? Maybe. We’ll see.

Last few years, it has looked for all the world like the pieces were there for a really good season. Hard to get my hopes up anymore. I’ll cheer like crazy. But if I’m honest, I’m skeptical.

The Dawgs will beat Tech,Vandy, Ole Miss, Charleston Southern and Miss St. and finish with a 10-2 or 9-3 record….Hey Joe we all think your either a Tech p_ssy or Bama redneck p_ssy. Hey Beast from the East…..How’d that Notre Dame gig work out for Weiss?….he doesn’t know how to coach college kids…Muschamp will be sorry he hired him by the end of the season…he’s an old man trying to relate to 18 -20 year old kids…You don’t win in the SEC with freshman QB’s leading your team……..I see trouble on the horizon for the Gators. Weiss had everything he needed to win at ND…but the kids just wouldn’t listen to him…..go home old man…your in a big boy league now!

NUTTLICKERS,
I can see by your comments that you are a TECH. fan. NO tough road games except at Tech. Unlike the ACC, there are very few, easy games in the SEC. I would bet that the tech. game will be one of the easier games UGA will play all year.

I agree with you 100%. CMR is the best coach UGA has ever had. UGA plays in the SEC, the toughest conference in the country. In the past 6 years, 5 different teams have won the SEC.

AdMan,
We’ll see. Some guys just aren’t cut out to be HC’s. I’d be willing to bet he’s a better OC than what you currently have at UGA. I did not predict UF to win the SEC. I figure about 9-3 +/- a game.

If CMR is given the boot we will probably get a couple of rejects for a few years, so don’t expect championship or undefeated seasons just because CMR is gone. Although I think he should have resigned after this year – at least we’d be rid of Bobo.

I can speak from experience that the trip to boulder is actually very easy. It’s much easier then trying to get a few of the outposts you have to visit in conference. Boulder is essentially a suburb of Denver so once you get into Denver, which is just over a 3 hour flight, it’s basically just a short drive out to Boulder.

No, but doing that same thing would be much easier going to Boulder then going to Fayeteville or Starkville. The larger point is, travel was not in anyway a valid excuse for the loss to that pitiful Colorado team.

Cantondawg…good analyis, or good as any posted.

Prognosticating on how many wins or which teams we’ll beat and to which we’ll lose is quite an exercise. Even saying the season’s over if we lose to Boise and SC is a pretty negative outlook; we ‘could’ win the rest of the games.

IF Jenkins is a force in the middle, we could have a formidable D. IF we can run the ball with authority we should do well. Gotta run the ball and stop the run in the SEC. Do those two things consistently and we’ll have a pretty good season. Do those two things consistently and we ’should’ be able to beat anybody on our schedule. Hopefully A Murray will improve. Believe it or not, we have some pretty good WRs (and TEs). Who’s to say one won’t step up and have as good a year as AJ had?

Saying which teams we’ll beat and to which we’ll lose is near-futile. We thought there was no way to lose to Colorado or Ms State or UCF…and a LOT of people thought we’d beat S.C (and Flawduh and Awbun) at the start of last season. Saying Ole Miss and Kentucky (and Vandy for that matter) are automatic wins is ludicrous. No game is automatic except Coastal C.

Having a bye week before Flawduh is good, I guess. We’ve been having our bye weeks way too late in the season; before Awbun last year. Waiting until the Tech game is way too late.

Back to the subject: It is a fairly favorable schedule. Should be much easier than last year.

People talk about how we’re going to lose such and such amount of games but I really don’t see a hole in our team where you go “Wow they need some help there.” We have depth now. Our defense should be really improved in it’s 2nd year under TG especially with a bigger NG. Our secondary and our LBs core has depth and our offense should be solid as well. I totally expect our defense to rise to the occasion and be a top 3 defense in the SEC. Maybe more. If we start 2-0, I predict we won’t lose a game this season, yeah you heard me.

After we open up with a win against Boise all the haters will come back on here and say they were not any good anyway and we should have beat them. They will then say wait until next week until you play SC because you will lose handily then. Then once we beat SC which we will do they will make excuses for them as well. Coach is going to throw the seniority crap out the window this year and play his best players which he has never done. Freshmen, sophomore or not if they are the best player at their position they will play. We will show more passion, discipline and we will play more pi**ed off than we have in recent years. We will be stronger because of Coach T and Thomas Brown and you do not work that hard in the weight room and be satisfied with losing. Not saying we are gonna win them all but you will see a different squad out there this year.

I also remember back in 05 (SEC title year) Boise State was the “toughest team in the land” with their star QB and all and I believe we smashed them too.

TENN- 60/40 GEORGIA
OLE MISS- 60-40 GEORGIA

I don’t know if Georgia will represent the East or not, UF will drop 4 or 5(go look at their schedule, you’ll see). You don’t play sports on paper looking at schedules and predicting what’s going to happen…

We saw that UGA just wasn’t that good last year. There were moments and flashes but nothing consistent outside of A.J. Green making plays in the passing game.

I know FLA has talent but with the multiple changes, who knows how it’s going to shake out…Tenn is in year 2 of rebuilding, Vandy will be doormat material once again, KY will surprise some people be a decent team and SC should be the favorites in the SEC East.

There will be no dominant team in the SEC East again in the 2011 season, SC wasn’t dominant in 2010 (outside of beating Bama at home and FLA on the road in convincing fashion).

The west look for LSU to rattle some people if things break their way, but the west will be top heavy again (with good teams) while the east will continue to be a free for all.

Murray threw for over 3,000 yards and 26 TDs as a FRESHMAN QB in the SEC with NO experience. I can’t wait until he unleashes himself on the rest of the SEC this season. He’s also a scrambler; something we haven’t had since Shockley. You just wait. Murray will turn into an All-SEC QB this season and might contend for the Heisman next season.

I hope your defense is as good as last years cause your team will be facing a desperate football team in Georgia, and they have no illusions about whom they will be playing. Oh yeah UGA WILL BE nasty and so disrespectful to Boise State but in a legal way. They are going to hit them sooooo hard and I can’t wait. All summer they will be banging up against their own teammates and they won’t be able to stand it. When they see that blue helmet with a horse on the side, they are going to be salivating at the chance to hit a different color.

I know Murray is a good kid and he’s a hell of an athlete too. Tavarres King or Marlon Brown could turn out to be All-SEC wideouts this season. You never know. Those kids never got the chance to shine because of Green. Orson Charles is already an All-SEC TE IMO and he always seems to play his best against Florida. I guess he has that extra hate and motivation? Oh well, we’ll see what happens and when we face Tech again, 10-1, I don’t want to hear any bickering.

10-2 with a loss to SC and Fla and eleiminated from the SEC Championship game.
SC has 2 rivalries (UGA and Clemson) they show up fighting mad to win those 2 games and those 2 only. Fla, what can I say? The monkey is still on the Dawgs back for that game. At this point, I’m not too convinced that it will ever get knocked off.
Recruiting was awsome but only a small handfull will contribute this year. I’m confident CMR will turn this team around but I don’t expect a SEC championship this year.

Gotta love the passion of SEC football! I read this on ESPN this morning:

This from Jonathan in Atmore, Ala. He spent eight years in the Army and was in the Middle East for three of those years. Jonathan wrote: “At one time, I was attached to a national guard unit out of Gainesville, Fla., in Kuwait. This was in 2005 and for the weeks leading up to the Alabama-Florida game, all I heard was how Urban [Meyer] and the Gators were going to kill Bama. Well, that did not happen, and the next day during a formation, I took my state of Alabama flag that I carried with me in every deployment and ran around the formation screaming, ‘Roll Tide.’ In true Gator fashion, their captain went to my lieutenant colonel and tried to have my [butt] handed to me. The Florida captain huffed, puffed, cried, screamed and demanded that I be disciplined for ‘disrespecting his command.’ It was at that time that the lieutenant colonel told the captain not to worry that he was going to make sure I knew exactly how much respect was due his command. The captain walked out, and the lieutenant colonel reached inside a drawer and handed me a diploma from Georgia and said, ‘Screw the Gators!’ That is what I love about SEC football. Even in a war zone, there is still passion!”

I figure Georgia didn’t beat a top 25 team last year so this year. they might be a little better, but expecting them to go from 0-5 against top 25 teams to 5-0 is off. Let’s look at it. You got 2 top 10 teams in South Carolina & Boise St. Then 3 more top 25 match ups against Auburn, Florida, and Mississippi State. Let’s say Georgia gets through that, somehow pulling off 2 wins. 2-3 record.

Then you look at the 2nd tier of the schedule: Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss. Georgia usually beats mediocre talent, but loses a game each year that no one expects. Let’s put them at 3-1 here.

Then you have the little 3, NM St, Vandy, and C Carolina. 3-0 here for sure, even with back ups.

So you got an 8-4 season. Now, if 2 of those wins are against Florida and South Carolina, you win the SEC East.

So Georgia will imporve, the key games are the big 5: Boise, South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, and Miss St. Lost to 5 out of 5 of top 25 matchup last season.

If Richt goes less than 3-2 against the big 5, top 25 teams, he needs to be fired.

Paul

February 15th, 2011
8:34 am

Georgia starts out, after a 6 win season, against two top 10 teams in Boise & S Car. You wonder how the team will handle starting out 0-2 again. Big hit to your morale. Last season they couldn’t recover. If Georgia splits that 2 game run, goes say 1-1, then somehow takes 2 out of 3 against Miss St, Auburn, and Florida, it could be a great year. But that’s asking for a lot coming off a 6 win season. More likely, Georgia goes 1-4 or 2-3 through the stretch.

Even with the addition of Boise, this is about the most manageable schedule I have seen in a looooooong time. No SEC West big boys. I think the SEC East will remain relatively week. A week off before Florida. After Boise its nothing but cupcakes OOC (Coastal Caroling, NM St., the Nerds), and I don’t even think Boise will be anything special. We’re playing them in the GEORGIA Dome on turf. Our speed and athleticism SHOULD overwhelm them.

With this easy schedule and the big recruiting class there should be even more pressure on Richt to bounce back this year. Please spare me any lame excuses. We are Georgia and 10 wins on a schedule like this should be automatic. Anything less is unacceptable, or should be at least.
Note the keyword throughout: SHOULD. Lord knows we had a joke schedule last year and still managed a losing season.

Wow… the what have you done for me lately crowd… Every year in the SEC, you have to overcome adversity. Some years its the injury bug (we all remember that but talk to Alabama fans about last year for them). Sometimes you have a magical season, insert Auburn and SC. Is Auburn going to be good next year? Yep. They are Auburn. Are they going to have a magical season? nope. SC? SC had a great turn of fortunes. They happened to be slightly better than they normally are and had the fortune of playing the weakest SEC east that I can ever remember. UF… down, UT… down, UGA… down, UK… below expectations… heck, even Vandy had a down year. I find it humorous that Spurrier languishes at SC for 5 years and then all of a sudden he is “back”. wow.

As for how the season will turn out.

Boise State – win. Sorry, but traveling into a hostile state on the road where you don’t travel well to begin with is going to be a slap down. VT fans are no where near as loud as UGA fans (and we are as loud as others of course). W

SC – This one is a toss up. I believe UGA will be riding high on their win over Boise State and that could spell doom for the game. Having said that, the loss last year, the hype of SC (an unknown for them) this year, and having to play in Athens makes this a you pick em.

Coastal Carolina – W
Ole Miss -W
Miss St – This matchup from last year will be interesting. I believe we will find out whether or not we have a viable D by now. Last year in Starksville, we gave the game away. Look for the team not to do the same this year. W

Tennessee- I see Dooley pulling some Les Miles magic. This game snake bites us because we have a better record than we thought we would have and the Vols have a worse record than they should. Tennesse 27-24. L

Vandy- W
Florida- Even though Muschamp is a proven coordinator and Weis is a proven coordinator, they will struggle in creating the system they need to become dominant again this year. Too much Myer ball over the last 5 years. You have system players for Urban but not for Weis. Look for a W here.
NM State W
Auburn – This is going to be a rub game. I think that Auburn will have the talent to win this game but too much bad taste from last years Fairley fest. Emotion is important and I believe this will equate to a W
Kentucky – Lost too many play makers last year for them to be up this year. W
Ga Tech – Love the techies but the novelty is wearing off of the offense and CPJ does not have the athletes to run his system at a high level. W

Therefore, you can conceivably place UGA at 10-2, 9-3. Having said that, several things could alter that. 1. Injuries to key players — Murray comes to mind or Big Jenkins on the D line. 2. Suspensions/arrests – again a killer for the opening 2 games. 3. We know what we have in the offense with Bobo (and I am not a fan of his play calling by any stretch of the imagination) but we do not know what Grantham will be able to accomplish in year 2. If the 3-4 does not bring UGA’s Defense back to a top 15 D, then of course you could see another long year.

I agree Pryor and Newton are similar in size, speed and ability to change a game. Newton is a better passer and both played in different offensive systems. I would have liked to have seen an Auburn/Newton – Pryor/OSU match up but it didn’t happen. We didn’t have any problems w/ Mallet.

Well of course I wouldn’t expect you to admit to all that, but its true. You have an unhealthy obsession with the Dawgs. The only explanation is that it drives you crazy that nodody cares anything about your Buckeyes down here and all anybody talks about is the Dawgs. Its the only explantion. I think Ohio State fans in particular are a little full of themselves and think their team is the center of the damn universe because ESPN talks about them a lot. Realistically,

I see this as being another 6-6 year. For any team to be successful, there has to be a nucleus of talent and leadership in place, where guys completely buy into the system, and then you combine that with younger talent , and you have a winner. Look at 2002: you had strong senior leadership AMONG THE PLAYERS, guys like Boss Bailey, Tony Gilbert, Jon Stincomb etc. Then you combine that with the young talent of David Greene and David Pollack and you have a strong nuclues of guys who are talented and can gut out the close wins. Same can be said for 2005 when you had guys like DJ Shockley, Russ Tanner, Max Jean Giles, who were the leaders combined with the younger guys like Kregg Lumpkin, Thomas Brown etc…and you had a team that surprised people.

But the problem now is that once guys like Stafford and Moreno came in, the vocal point became more about the individual player and their talents and less about “buying in” to UGA. Stafford and Moreno to me represented a generational shift, where the focus of the average player is getting to the NFL not in being a Dawg. And the downside to that is you don’t get the players buying in that you used to. Now when you see UGA play there is NO LEADERSHIP from the players. When things go bad or when the team gets hit in the mouth, there is nobody to rally around. Just a bunch of X-factor guys like AJ Greene making amazing plays, yet the team still loses. Collectively, there is no drive or incentive to be better. And that falls on the coaches AND the players.

And finally, UGA and our fanbase is painstakingly slow in regards to change. Always has been. We kept Wally Butts around even when he was getting his brains beat out by Tech in the 1950’s. We kept Dooley around too long when he probably should have retired after Herschel left. We kept Ray Goff around WAY too long because he was a “Georgia Guy” even though he was a complete joke of a coach. And now we’ll keep Richt around longer than we should. At the very core of who we are, we don’t demand greatness! Period. Having higher expectations is a start. Proactively seeking change is where our athletic department needs to be. UGA is showing me that, as of right now; they’re not looking to get substantially better. So until they make more concentrated efforts in that regard, like AU and UT have; then substandard results is what I will expect.

It must be a miserable life for all the UGA haters to come on the UGA blog and talk about how bad the Dawgs are/will be. UGA was down the last two years but the good news is they still get to play the games this year. If no one thinks they can turn it around then you will either be proven wrong or not this year. Remember with exception of Florida all of these so called great teams the beat UGA last year have to come to Athens. UGA will win 2/3 against USC, Auburn and Miss State and go at least 9-3.

Schedule sets up nicely for the typical 9 win season. But the predictions that count UGA beating UF are insane. For all of you downplaying UCF…it’s the largest school, by student body, in the U.S. They were also conference champions. Yes, we “should have” beat them, but they’re not akin to UAB or The Citadel or something. Fact is, they’d make a good substitute in the SEC over Vandy. Large school; recruits mostly FL; FL is the #1 state in the country for HS recruits, etc. I think overall they’d make a better SEC opponent than Vandy. Vandy could go to Conf USA or the Big East or something.

Speaking of Washaun, he could take lessons from A.Murray about off-field activity suggestions…

Boy a lot of ASSumptions being made early.

Look, first the offense wasn’t the problem last year, it was the defense.

CTG was running a 3-4 defense with 4-3 personnel. Compare his stats to Saban/Smart’s first year at Bama and they’re almost the same.
The difference in year two was Mount Cody. Everything in the 3-4 defense starts and ends with the front 3, and most importantly the NT which is the anchor.

Last year we had D.Tyson and A.Jones playing the nose, when they are actually true DE’s in the 3-4. They were pushed around and not very effective. Why? because they weren’t playing their natural position for the 3-4, and neither of them warranted a double team in that scheme.

Enter Big John Jenkins. NOW we have our true NT a 6-4, 340lb monster that will command double teams and allow Tyson and Jones to move to the end positions. Now you have 4 OL that will have to block those 3 and will have trouble. Then for the outside LBs you will have a rotation I suspect of Ray Drew and C.Washington who will fill in the J.Houston roll, not to mention J.Jones and R.Samuel who are both athletic freaks playing in the middle and let’s not forget about C.Robinson. Whatever combo comes out of that, it’s going to be an impressive front 7 that will allow CTG to showcase why so many top defenses are 3-4.

UGA WILL be back and have a solid if not special season this year. Mark it down. Laugh Now, Cry Later!
Go Dawgs!!!

Talk about an EASY schedule – UGA will be playing a BS team who lost a lot of key players this past year. And the only other challenging team that UGA may play is Florida – and that is it. Auburn won’t be any good with their Offensive and Defensive Stars gone. And who is New Mexico State? South Carolina will have lost too many players – at least the ones who count. And MTSU?? You have got to be joking. Then UGA plays two Pansie teams in Tennessee (UT and Vandy) and you REALLY think they will be competitive? Then you have the two sissy teams out of Mississloppi; Old (yes – I mean’t to misspell that) Missy and it’s dysfunctional other partner, Miss Stake U. And then – you have that Trade School in the ATL who will (once again) be without an inspiring QB – and a inspiring football team all around. So – It should be NO surprise to anyone who looks at that easy-a** schedule if UGA goes 11-1. Then you can all wolf and bark about how Ole CMR brought the DAWGS back from the “Edge of the Cliff” and he will, once again, be ordained as your hero.

What I’ve noticed about Mark Richt is he gets into these periods of delapidation when Richt just gets worse and worse every year for 3 or 4 seasons in a row. Richt did it during the 2002-2006 period, then again during his most recent period of delapidation and underachievement of 2007-2010.

Les miles, since 2001, has never had 2 seasons in a row of delapidation where he has less wins consecutively.

Nick Saban rarely has more than 1 year of delapidation before he adjusts and quickly outgains his previous year.

But Richt just isn’y in their league. Richt respond too slowly to delapidation, and seems content with underachievement for much longer periods tha Miles or Saban.

So, I expect another delipdated season for Richt, he still seems to be satisfied with underachievement.

What is delapidation?

There are a lot of words that describe Richt’s habit of losing more games 7 out of the last 8 season than the season before.

Look at the last 3 seasons, you atrophy from 11 wins to 10 in 2008, from 10 you decline to 8 in 2009, from 8 wins in 2009 you drop and descend into 6 wins in 2010.

Dilapidation describes it well for me. atrophy, corrosion, crumbling, decaying, decline, descent, dilapidation , downturn, drop, retrogression, rotting, ruin, slump, worsening

The Dawgs were not beaten last year but they did manage to beat themselves seven times. 2011 look for the Dawgs to win eleven games, they play for the SEC Dhamp. in Hot-Lanta for all the marbles. You heard it first here.

It’ll be tough for Richt to get 7 wins. Yeah, there are 3 easy wins on the schedule, Coastal Caro, Vanderbilt & New Mexico St. 3-0 there for sure. The rest of the schedule is tough. You got 5 top twenty five teams, last year Richt was 0-6 against winning teams, so that’s 0-5 right there, 2-3 is a best case scenario. Kentucky, Tenn, Ole miss, and Georgia Tech could all be losses, could go 0-4, maybe split em 2-2 best case. So 7-5 is best case for Georgia in 2011.

88% chance Richt wins less than 6 games in 2011, that’s his track record over last 8, he loses more than the year before 88% of the time.

If you’re an optimist, it’s slightly possible that Georgia will win more games (7 or more) in 2011 than 2010, you have a 11% chance, looking at Richt’s track record over the last 8 seasons.

True, 11% isn’t good odds, but at least there’s a tiny chance.

This is a 6-7 team that lost by far its best offensive player. Some of you guys saying that things will be so quickly turned around are dreaming. A 3-loss season should be considered a huge success for this team in reality.

It’s hillarious how UGA fans have such high expectations EVERY year. I see this year hasn’t changed. Many of you same geniuses made the same predictions last year. You lost AJ Green (no other WR on the roster comes close to him) and like 3 starting LB’s. How in the world are some of you predicting SEC/National Championships? Florida just had one of its worse teams in history and STILL beat the dogs. Get your head out of the clouds and understand who is on your roster.lol
