The ACC released Georgia Tech’s (and other conference teams’) 2011 football schedules this afternoon. So just in case that news has any of you looking around for Georgia’s schedule –- most of you, I know, already have memorized it –- I figured I’d post it here again:
Sept. 3: vs. Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in the Georgia Dome.
Sept. 10: vs. South Carolina in Athens.
Sept. 17: vs. Coastal Carolina in Athens.
Sept. 24: at Ole Miss.
Oct. 1: vs. Mississippi State in Athens.
Oct. 8: at Tennessee.
Oct. 15: at Vanderbilt.
Oct. 29: vs. Florida in Jacksonville.
Nov. 5: vs. New Mexico State in Athens.
Nov. 12: vs. Auburn in Athens.
Nov. 19: vs. Kentucky in Athens.
Nov. 26: at Georgia Tech.

Had to really dumb down to communicate with the dream team. Imagine Richt will have to draw pretty pictures on the side lines to help the young lads.

Sad how far Richt’s program has fallen, and how quickly. He simply can’t win.

This is the easiest schedule UGA will have in years. Due to a fluke of scheduling the Dawgs dodge LSU, Arkansas and bammer.
Better get ‘er done this year if it’s ever going to happen.

It seems like some of these idiots are masquerading as DAWG fans but are only on here to insult UGA. First of all, BSU lost a lot of players and got crushed last time we met. If you take a good look at UGAs roster are returning lots of players who played last year plus finally have a NG for the 3-4 and its year 2 for the def. UGA should win the first game and can win the second game. well see

Any of you fools ever followed college football long enough to see cycles ? Oh, like mabe Texas, Miami, Notre Dame……..the winninest program in college football, Michigan…..let’s see, then there is U.T., Southern Cal, Florida, ten years of complete misery at Alabama before Saban showed-up………then even he got his ass handed to him by La. Monroe…………For heavens sake people!! wake the hell up !!!………..Coach Mark Richt and “my” Georgia Bulldogs are cycling-up in 2011. To those who can’t handle a couple years of being down without wetting your beds every night, go find another team, hell jump on the Alabama bandwagon or for that matter wear a T.C.U. hat, but leave “my” BULLDOGS alone……….they will be just fine, in no time at all……………RED

10-2 with a loss to SC and Fla and eleiminated from the SEC Championship game.
SC has 2 rivalries (UGA and Clemson) they show up fighting mad to win those 2 games and those 2 only. Fla, what can I say? The monkey is still on the Dawgs back for that game. At this point, I’m not too convinced that it will ever get knocked off.
Recruiting was awsome but only a small handfull will contribute this year. I’m confident CMR will turn this team around but I don’t expect a SEC championship this year.
UGA wins the bowl game.

Better beat Boise because I don’t see us beating SC for a couple of years. Unfortunately, Spurrier has arrived and we all know how he hates UGA. Of course he didn’t have players until last year to do anything. Now he does.

Richt did less wiht more talent than anyone in the SEC in 2010. Murray couldn’t beat a winning team. 2 coaches quit. AJ & Houston opted to leave their Jr. year. 67, no wins against winning teams, 0-6. Wow.
How the mighty have fallen.

Gotta love the passion of SEC football! I read this on ESPN this morning:
This from Jonathan in Atmore, Ala. He spent eight years in the Army and was in the Middle East for three of those years. Jonathan wrote: “At one time, I was attached to a national guard unit out of Gainesville, Fla., in Kuwait. This was in 2005 and for the weeks leading up to the Alabama-Florida game, all I heard was how Urban [Meyer] and the Gators were going to kill Bama. Well, that did not happen, and the next day during a formation, I took my state of Alabama flag that I carried with me in every deployment and ran around the formation screaming, ‘Roll Tide.’ In true Gator fashion, their captain went to my lieutenant colonel and tried to have my [butt] handed to me. The Florida captain huffed, puffed, cried, screamed and demanded that I be disciplined for ‘disrespecting his command.’ It was at that time that the lieutenant colonel told the captain not to worry that he was going to make sure I knew exactly how much respect was due his command. The captain walked out, and the lieutenant colonel reached inside a drawer and handed me a diploma from Georgia and said, ‘Screw the Gators!’ That is what I love about SEC football. Even in a war zone, there is still passion!”

I figure Georgia didn’t beat a top 25 team last year so this year. they might be a little better, but expecting them to go from 0-5 against top 25 teams to 5-0 is off. Let’s look at it. You got 2 top 10 teams in South Carolina & Boise St. Then 3 more top 25 match ups against Auburn, Florida, and Mississippi State. Let’s say Georgia gets through that, somehow pulling off 2 wins. 2-3 record.
Then you look at the 2nd tier of the schedule: Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss. Georgia usually beats mediocre talent, but loses a game each year that no one expects. Let’s put them at 3-1 here.
Then you have the little 3, NM St, Vandy, and C Carolina. 3-0 here for sure, even with back ups.
So you got an 8-4 season. Now, if 2 of those wins are against Florida and South Carolina, you win the SEC East.
So Georgia will imporve, the key games are the big 5: Boise, South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, and Miss St. Lost to 5 out of 5 of top 25 matchup last season.
If Richt goes less than 3-2 against the big 5, top 25 teams, he needs to be fired.

Georgia starts out, after a 6 win season, against two top 10 teams in Boise & S Car. You wonder how the team will handle starting out 0-2 again. Big hit to your morale. Last season they couldn’t recover. If Georgia splits that 2 game run, goes say 1-1, then somehow takes 2 out of 3 against Miss St, Auburn, and Florida, it could be a great year. But that’s asking for a lot coming off a 6 win season. More likely, Georgia goes 1-4 or 2-3 through the stretch.

Now that’s never been discussed here before. How did you arrive at such an original thought?
11-1 Big Ten Champ, Sugar Bowl Champ, # 5 in final standings. Compare, Smell.
24-1 Basketball record, # 2 in the country ( or perhaps #1 after Kansas upset), likley # 1 seed in Tourney, 2 game lead in conference. Compare, Smell.
Much like the Bulldogs? Think not.

Boise State’s recruiting classes are never in the Top 25-35, so why do they always finish the season in the Top 20?!
Can you imagine what that coach could do with UGA’s recruits! wow.

Georgia needs to finish in the top 25 or else get a new head coach. Sorry, 7-5, and 6-6, are just terrible wastes of talent, pure mismangement, and should not be rewarded with more years.

After going 7-5 in 09′ with Cox, you’d think Richt would figure out a way to get back on track. But he follows that up with a 6-6 year? man, nothing he thought would work did. You got to wonder about a guy’s judgment after 2 dead end seasons in a row.

You wanna know why Boise always finishes in the top 20? It’s because they play in the WAC where your allowed not to have top 25-35 recruiting classes. In the SEC, you BETTER have at least a top 15 recruiting class or your gonna get slaughtered. The SEC is like a mini-NFL compared to the WAC conference. Get real.

People forget that we had a freshman QB who btw almost broke some records as a freshman and I think he did. We were also under our first 3-4 defense. We had no experience under that. The 3-4 is so much more complex than the 4-3 and we had to learn it and only had 12-13 games to perform it. With another spring practice, then on to traning camp, these guys will be ready to roll.

Even with the addition of Boise, this is about the most manageable schedule I have seen in a looooooong time. No SEC West big boys. I think the SEC East will remain relatively week. A week off before Florida. After Boise its nothing but cupcakes OOC (Coastal Caroling, NM St., the Nerds), and I don’t even think Boise will be anything special. We’re playing them in the GEORGIA Dome on turf. Our speed and athleticism SHOULD overwhelm them.
With this easy schedule and the big recruiting class there should be even more pressure on Richt to bounce back this year. Please spare me any lame excuses. We are Georgia and 10 wins on a schedule like this should be automatic. Anything less is unacceptable, or should be at least.
Note the keyword throughout: SHOULD. Lord knows we had a joke schedule last year and still managed a losing season.

How many wins does Coach Richt need to save his job? Think about this. It needs to be enough that McGarity feels confident enough to extend Richt’s contract. I’d say finish in the top 25 or Richt’s out.
