FYI … Georgia’s 2011 football schedule

The ACC released Georgia Tech’s (and other conference teams’) 2011 football schedules this afternoon. So just in case that news has any of you looking around for Georgia’s schedule –- most of you, I know, already have memorized it –- I figured I’d post it here again:

Sept. 3: vs. Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in the Georgia Dome.

Sept. 10: vs. South Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 17: vs. Coastal Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 24: at Ole Miss.

Oct. 1: vs. Mississippi State in Athens.

Oct. 8: at Tennessee.

Oct. 15: at Vanderbilt.

Oct. 29: vs. Florida in Jacksonville.

Nov. 5: vs. New Mexico State in Athens.

Nov. 12: vs. Auburn in Athens.

Nov. 19: vs. Kentucky in Athens.

Nov. 26: at Georgia Tech.

A few things jump out:

  • The difficulty and the magnitude of the first two games.
  • Eight of the 12 games are in the state of Georgia.
  • After trips to Tempe, Ariz., Stillwater, Okla., and Boulder, Colo., the past three seasons, the longest trip will be to … Oxford, Miss.
  • There’s an open date preceding the Florida game. (Will Muschamp’s Gators also have an open date that week.)

If there was ever any doubt about MR character read the Valdosta Dailly Times for 2-11. We had a young man who had written Mark requesting a chance to walk on this fall. His name was on the walk on list. On Jan. 15th he drowned while duck hunting. At the funeral Jay Rome and Malcolm Mitchell presented the family James”s Georgia jersery with his high school number on it. Life is more than a game or sport.

Here’s what I don’t get about Georgia fans. You went 7-5 2 years ago and 6-7 this season. You got worse on your coaching staff by losing 2 ley guys, not only your offensive line coach, but your linebacker and special teams coach. The replacement was below par. You also lost AJ Green on the offense and can’t replace him with anyone better. Then you lose Justin Houston, your #1 defnsive player on defense. And somehow you think you’ll be BETTER in 2011?

Dawg man,

Pass the crack pipe. I need some of what you’re smoking. Your last game you lost to Central Florida in a bowl game where you could only score 6 pts but now you’re going to go 14-0 and win it all after losing 7 games last year. You dawg fans are always great for a good laugh.

Since the dawgs have an open date before the UF game I wonder what the excuse for losing to them will be this year.

The competition is underwhelming. If the DAWGS do end up winning 8-4 or better the strength of the opposition will diminish the achievement level of the record.

You don’t play sports on paper looking at schedules and predicting what’s going to happen…

We saw that UGA just wasn’t that good last year. There were moments and flashes but nothing consistent outside of A.J. Green making plays in the passing game.

I know FLA has talent but with the multiple changes, who knows how it’s going to shake out…Tenn is in year 2 of rebuilding, Vandy will be doormat material once again, KY will surprise some people be a decent team and SC should be the favorites in the SEC East.

There will be no dominant team in the SEC East again in the 2011 season, SC wasn’t dominant in 2010 (outside of beating Bama at home and FLA on the road in convincing fashion).

The west look for LSU to rattle some people if things break their way, but the west will be top heavy again (with good teams) while the east will continue to be a free for all.

Dawgs will go 11-1 regular season and split SEC championship and bowl game for 12-2 record. 2012 will be similar with another solid recruiting class. Look for Coach to sign a multi year extension after next year. Carolina or Florida only regulae season loss. Tough game with LSU in Dome. Tough BCS bowl game.

……Kellen Moore doesnt make it of the first quarter without a concussion, please see the 2008 Sugar Bowl Game. that is what will happen to a small, slow and weak boise team it will be grown men against boys…UGA 48 Boise 13.. btw who will Kellen be throwing the ball 2? and who is going to line up and stop a guy like Orson Charles when you have a secondary returning 2 starters (and no one in that secondary can run with a guy like Isiah Crowell after he gets into the second level…UGA’s defensive ends (Tyson and Lott) are significantly bigger/stronger/faster than anyone on the Boise’s entire offensive line not to mention John Jenkins

Great set up for the Dawgs this year. Boise can’t keep up with SEC speed. We beat them by 5 td’s a few years ago. Auburn and the Gators will be mediocre this year (8-5). Tenn isn’t there yet and probably won’t be for another 3 or 4 yrs. We get Miss St. and South Carolina at home. If our defense steps up we should go 10-2. Will have the #1 QB in the league, top freshman at RB, experienced WR core. Lets get it on. Let the haters hate.

What WR core are you speaking of? Brown?
What TOP freshmen RB? I think somebody has to play the games to know WHO a top Fr RB is.
What #1 QB? The one that hasn’t won a game against a team with a winning record?
T.O you need to sober up a lot now or you can wait to get slapped sober all next year on the playing field.

Sept. 10: vs. South Carolina (loss)
Sept. 17: vs. Coastal Carolina (win)
Sept. 24: at Ole Miss (toss up)
Oct. 1: vs. Mississippi State (loss)
Oct. 8: at Tennessee (loss)
Oct. 15: at Vanderbilt (toss up)
Oct. 29: vs. Florida in Jacksonville (loss)
Nov. 5: vs. New Mexico State (win)
Nov. 12: vs. Auburn (loss)

Ok obviously “Coach Grohbo” is a complete idiot. How is Georgia Tech a toss up when we are 9-1 vs them from 2000 to 2010? Another thing, Kentucky will not be as good with Mike Hartline leaving as well as Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke. We own them anyway. Auburn won’t have Newton or Fairley so we should go back to beating them on a regular basis. How in the hell is Vandy a toss up to you? We won 43-0 in I guarantee you our WORST season we’ll ever have. We’re only going to get better. Ole Miss a toss up? Boise State a loss? Your a tech fan I know.

ATTENTION ALL TECH FANS: THIS IS THE HOME OF THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS WHO OWN YOU WITH THE ADVANTAGE OF 9-1, SO PLEASE DON’T BOTHER COMING OVER TO THIS PAGE ANYMORE BECAUSE WHAT YOU SAY IS NOT RELEVANT IN THE FOOTBALL WORLD. How can you be 1-9 vs someone and talk smack?

We can’t win more than 8 games? If I remember correctly UGA was the ONLY SCHOOL IN THE NCAA that could claim that they’ve had 13 CONSECUTIVE seasons with AT LEAST 8 wins and that was including 2009. Last season was our first losing season since 96 and our first under CMR. We’ll right the ship and get this thing turned around. Every team has their ups and downs. Does anybody remember Alabama losing to Louisiana-Monroe, or Utah for that matter? Oh no, I guess when it comes to Alabama people tend to forget.

We will see what we will see. No one can predict what college kids will do. The schedule looks pretty good if we can get by the first two. We have an experienced QB this year. Something we couldn’t say last season.

Coach Grohbo

Rabid,

You lost your best four players (Green, Houston, Boling, and Dent) and your best coach (Belin).

Your rising senior recruiting class (2008) is empty.

Your remaining coaching staff has a very poor track record of coaching up or disciplining your talent.

The facts don’t add up well for Georgia this year.

Murray threw for over 3,000 yards and 26 TDs as a FRESHMAN QB in the SEC with NO experience. I can’t wait until he unleashes himself on the rest of the SEC this season. He’s also a scrambler; something we haven’t had since Shockley. You just wait. Murray will turn into an All-SEC QB this season and might contend for the Heisman next season.

I just got this to say. CMR will not let this team suffer like it did last year. He is well aware that there is no tomorrow. And to the Boise St. fans. I hope your defense is as good as last years cause your team will be facing a desperate football team in Georgia, and they have no illusions about whom they will be playing. The UGA team will be beging this summer to stop hitting each other. I predict they are going to show up in the Georgia dome with a BAD dispossition. They will be nasty.

Coach Grohbo

February 14th, 2011
10:24 pm

Rabid,

Murray is a good kid, but you can’t throw to the tight end on every play.

Georgia does not return any SEC quality wide-outs or slot receivers. He is playing behind a leaky offensive line and his backs are not disciplined enough to block well.

RabidDawgFan

February 14th, 2011

Oh yeah UGA WILL BE nasty and so disrespectful to Boise State but in a legal way. They are going to hit them sooooo hard and I can’t wait. All summer they will be banging up against their own teammates and they won’t be able to stand it. When they see that blue helmet with a horse on the side, they are going to be salivating at the chance to hit a different color.

I know Murray is a good kid and he’s a hell of an athlete too. Tavarres King or Marlon Brown could turn out to be All-SEC wideouts this season. You never know. Those kids never got the chance to shine because of Green. Orson Charles is already an All-SEC TE IMO and he always seems to play his best against Florida. I guess he has that extra hate and motivation? Oh well, we’ll see what happens and when we face Tech again, 10-1, I don’t want to hear any bickering.
