FYI … Georgia’s 2011 football schedule

The ACC released Georgia Tech’s (and other conference teams’) 2011 football schedules this afternoon. So just in case that news has any of you looking around for Georgia’s schedule –- most of you, I know, already have memorized it –- I figured I’d post it here again:

Sept. 3: vs. Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in the Georgia Dome.

Sept. 10: vs. South Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 17: vs. Coastal Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 24: at Ole Miss.

Oct. 1: vs. Mississippi State in Athens.

Oct. 8: at Tennessee.

Oct. 15: at Vanderbilt.

Oct. 29: vs. Florida in Jacksonville.

Nov. 5: vs. New Mexico State in Athens.

Nov. 12: vs. Auburn in Athens.

Nov. 19: vs. Kentucky in Athens.

Nov. 26: at Georgia Tech.

A few things jump out:

  • The difficulty and the magnitude of the first two games.
  • Eight of the 12 games are in the state of Georgia.
  • After trips to Tempe, Ariz., Stillwater, Okla., and Boulder, Colo., the past three seasons, the longest trip will be to … Oxford, Miss.
  • There’s an open date preceding the Florida game. (Will Muschamp’s Gators also have an open date that week.)

Hey Beast from the East…..How’d that Notre Dame gig work out for Weiss?….he doesn’t know how to coach college kids…Muschamp will be sorry he hired him by the end of the season…he’s an old man trying to relate to 18 -20 year old kids…You don’t win in the SEC with freshman QB’s leading your team……..I see trouble on the horizon for the Gators. Weiss had everything he needed to win at ND…but the kids just wouldn’t listen to him…..go home old man…your in a big boy league now!

NUTTLICKERS,
I can see by your comments that you are a TECH. fan. NO tough road games except at Tech. Unlike the ACC, there are very few, easy games in the SEC. I would bet that the tech. game will be one of the easier games UGA will play all year.

I agree with you 100%. CMR is the best coach UGA has ever had. UGA plays in the SEC, the toughest conference in the country. In the past 6 years, 5 different teams have won the SEC.

AdMan,
We’ll see. Some guys just aren’t cut out to be HC’s. I’d be willing to bet he’s a better OC than what you currently have at UGA. I did not predict UF to win the SEC. I figure about 9-3 +/- a game.

If CMR is given the boot we will probably get a couple of rejects for a few years, so don’t expect championship or undefeated seasons just because CMR is gone. Although I think he should have resigned after this year – at least we’d be rid of Bobo.

WIN WITH RICHT,
Actually, it’s only 4 teams (LSU x 2, UF x 2, Au and UA) over the past 7 years. But your point is still valid.

I can speak from experience that the trip to boulder is actually very easy. It’s much easier then trying to get a few of the outposts you have to visit in conference. Boulder is essentially a suburb of Denver so once you get into Denver, which is just over a 3 hour flight, it’s basically just a short drive out to Boulder.

WIN WITH RICHT!!!!!,
Sorry, I mis-read your other post. I was referring to NC’s and you were referring to SECC’s. They almost go hand-in-hand though, don’t they?

No, but doing that same thing would be much easier going to Boulder then going to Fayeteville or Starkville. The larger point is, travel was not in anyway a valid excuse for the loss to that pitiful Colorado team.

Cantondawg…good analyis, or good as any posted.

Prognosticating on how many wins or which teams we’ll beat and to which we’ll lose is quite an exercise. Even saying the season’s over if we lose to Boise and SC is a pretty negative outlook; we ‘could’ win the rest of the games.

IF Jenkins is a force in the middle, we could have a formidable D. IF we can run the ball with authority we should do well. Gotta run the ball and stop the run in the SEC. Do those two things consistently and we’ll have a pretty good season. Do those two things consistently and we ’should’ be able to beat anybody on our schedule. Hopefully A Murray will improve. Believe it or not, we have some pretty good WRs (and TEs). Who’s to say one won’t step up and have as good a year as AJ had?

Saying which teams we’ll beat and to which we’ll lose is near-futile. We thought there was no way to lose to Colorado or Ms State or UCF…and a LOT of people thought we’d beat S.C (and Flawduh and Awbun) at the start of last season. Saying Ole Miss and Kentucky (and Vandy for that matter) are automatic wins is ludicrous. No game is automatic except Coastal C.

Having a bye week before Flawduh is good, I guess. We’ve been having our bye weeks way too late in the season; before Awbun last year. Waiting until the Tech game is way too late.

Back to the subject: It is a fairly favorable schedule. Should be much easier than last year.

People talk about how we’re going to lose such and such amount of games but I really don’t see a hole in our team where you go “Wow they need some help there.” We have depth now. Our defense should be really improved in it’s 2nd year under TG especially with a bigger NG. Our secondary and our LBs core has depth and our offense should be solid as well. I totally expect our defense to rise to the occasion and be a top 3 defense in the SEC. Maybe more. If we start 2-0, I predict we won’t lose a game this season, yeah you heard me.

Georgia’s most embarrassing loss for the 2011 season—————————->> Boise State woops em worse than anyone else on the schedule.

2nd fact ——-> By the end of January 2012, for ever since the BCS was created, Everyone in the country will still be wondering who the best is as the BCS fails to produce a legitimate champ.

After we open up with a win against Boise all the haters will come back on here and say they were not any good anyway and we should have beat them. They will then say wait until next week until you play SC because you will lose handily then. Then once we beat SC which we will do they will make excuses for them as well. Coach is going to throw the seniority crap out the window this year and play his best players which he has never done. Freshmen, sophomore or not if they are the best player at their position they will play. We will show more passion, discipline and we will play more pi**ed off than we have in recent years. We will be stronger because of Coach T and Thomas Brown and you do not work that hard in the weight room and be satisfied with losing. Not saying we are gonna win them all but you will see a different squad out there this year.

Exactly gadawgs, that’s exactly what they’re going to do. Make excuses for everyone we beat. They’ll have 14 excuses made after season’s end. I very vividly remember how we were going to get “crushed” and “manhandled” by Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl a few years back. What was the score to that one? I also remember back in 05 (SEC title year) Boise State was the “toughest team in the land” with their star QB and all and I believe we smashed them too.

Always remember that of all the downbeat posters claiming to be UGA fans on here only about 30% of them are fans. The other 70% are pathetic little haters who are so delusional they think their stupid comments might somehow influence the real Dawgs that are here.

That 30% that are fans but are still always negative? Well they are just whiney crybabies.

This buckeye guy is either another closet Tech fan or he is confused. How many UGA people hang out on an Ohio State blog. He is on here alot. What is your interest in UGA football sir or mam. All you prove by getting on here is how well known and respected the UGA football program is around the country regardless of some crappy football of late. When will our fans stop getting so angry at people that are disgusted with UGA football because of some past @ss woopins.

Guys, people don’t post on blogs of crappy schools like Vandy and Ole Miss or G-Tech. They come to UGA’s blog because it is a BIGTIME foootball school PERIOD.

I believe Uga will shock the socks off the college football worls in 2011. Dog haters act like we have been a weak tired foootball program for the last 50 years. We have 2 SEC championships in the last decade and we have played some great football the frustration of the last 2 seasons will pay off.

I just don’t see Georgia beating top 25 teams without AJ Green. I figure:

Florida- LOSS
Auburn- LOSS
Boise-LOSS
Ark-LOSS-might win this one
Miss St- LOSS–might win this one

The rest of the schedule should be wins, but these days, nothing is taken for granted. Could see losses to:
KENT–50/50 TOSS UP
GEORGIA TECH- 60/40 GEORGIA
TENN- 60/40 GEORGIA
OLE MISS- 60-40 GEORGIA

I don’t think Georgia will lose to:
New Mexico-WIN
Venderbilt- WIN
Coastal Car-WIN

UGA finally has the schedule, coaching staff and a dream team of talent to win the SEC east. Look for an upset over USC early, Auburn late and a blowout win over florida, that doesn’t have anything. Dawgs play Alabama for the SEC title—mark it down!

7-6 90% CHANCE
6-7 80% CHANCE
5-7 70% CHANCE
4-8 OR 8-4 60% CHANCE
3-9 OR 9-3 50% CHANCE
10-2 OR 2-10 40% CHANCE
11-1 OR 1-11 30% CHANCE
12-0 OR 0-12 20% CHANCE

10-2

Split the Boise-SC games. Drop another down the stretch to Tennessee or Auburn. Georgia will beat Florida. Why?

The second year being in the 3-4 will be huge, just wait. Murray will be very good. Running game will improve. I don’t know if Georgia will represent the East or not, UF will drop 4 or 5(go look at their schedule, you’ll see). SC has a pretty favorable schedule too, the early season matchup in Athens between UGA and SC will be very important. Tennessee will be imporved but not QUITE there yet

Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in the Georgia Dome.
South Carolina in Athens.
Coastal Carolina in Athens.
Ole Miss.
Mississippi State in Athens.
Tennessee.
Vanderbilt.
Florida in Jacksonville.
New Mexico State in Athens.
Auburn in Athens.
Kentucky in Athens.
Georgia Tech.

So I’ll be honest here. We have a legitimate chance to win every single game. I don’t feel we are the underdog in any game. Watch for Boise, South Carolina, Florida, and GT to beat us. GT would be an upset and but I have a feeling of a good season.
