FYI … Georgia’s 2011 football schedule

The ACC released Georgia Tech’s (and other conference teams’) 2011 football schedules this afternoon. So just in case that news has any of you looking around for Georgia’s schedule –- most of you, I know, already have memorized it –- I figured I’d post it here again:

Sept. 3: vs. Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in the Georgia Dome.

Sept. 10: vs. South Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 17: vs. Coastal Carolina in Athens.

Sept. 24: at Ole Miss.

Oct. 1: vs. Mississippi State in Athens.

Oct. 8: at Tennessee.

Oct. 15: at Vanderbilt.

Oct. 29: vs. Florida in Jacksonville.

Nov. 5: vs. New Mexico State in Athens.

Nov. 12: vs. Auburn in Athens.

Nov. 19: vs. Kentucky in Athens.

Nov. 26: at Georgia Tech.

A few things jump out:

  • The difficulty and the magnitude of the first two games.
  • Eight of the 12 games are in the state of Georgia.
  • After trips to Tempe, Ariz., Stillwater, Okla., and Boulder, Colo., the past three seasons, the longest trip will be to … Oxford, Miss.
  • There’s an open date preceding the Florida game. (Will Muschamp’s Gators also have an open date that week.)

WIN WITH RICHT

Mark Richt will turn it around and have a great year. I can’t understand why so many DAWG fans want Richt gone. He is the best coach in school history. In the 17 years between Herschel and Richt, UGA never won an SEC title or played in SEC title game. One bad season in the toughest conference in the country does not wipe out his great record.

Sept 3rd and Sept 10th are the keys to the season. Pray we can beat Boise and have no injuries headed into the Carolina game. Tenn I do believe our biggest test after the first 2 games.

6-7 to 14-0, it’s so easy. Just think big team. Believe. Reach for the stars, even if you miss, you’ll still get a moon pie.

Murray will play like a new man. 0-6 against winning teams, no mas. try 6-0 this time. He’ll play like a new guy.

I love seeing all this hype for SC. People are actually expecting them to get back to the SEC CG and maybe even win it. My prediction is that they’ll lose to much improved UF and UGA as well as a couple more. Back to reality for SC fans this year.

reebok,

I truly believe UT will be a much better team than in 2010.Plus we must go to Knoxville and play them. You watch and see-we will struggle with the Vols in Knoxville.Auburn-I think they will be good and Florida will be talented but will struggle with the Weiss offense and new Q.B

Thanks to Crowell, expect that running game to go from 150 a game to 280 a game. It’s easy. Just follow my 3 steps: dream it, believe it, think it.

UGA will be 9-3 w/ losses to SC, UF and UT
UF will be 9-3 w/ losses to SC, Bama and LSU

South Carolina is loaded and it will take an amazing effort to beat them . They are not near as tough later in the year when their lack of depth show’s up. But they play there best ball the first 5 games before the starters get warn out or hurt. If we concentrate on stopping Lattimore , shutting him down completely, I don’t think Garcia is good enough to carry the game.

After last year, I cannot believe any UGA fans are making predictions about how good UGA will be this coming season. If someone would have told me last years squad, with a phenomenal year from Murray, would have finished anything less than 9-3, I would have said he/she was nuts. But, that’s exactly what happened–despite a good year from Murray, the dogs posted a losing record.

Great to be excited about a good recruiting class, but this UGA fan has nothing to say about how we will do next year–and no other sensible fan should either.

If MR makes the changes needed it should be a great season. He needs to get a running game, an hard-nosed OL, a defense to stop run, less penalties, a kicker to kick it in the endzone, a better kick off cover team, a gutsty play caller, take some chances, a DL coach, an upbeat practice schedule, better strength and conditioning, no swimming!SEC!, PLAY THE BEST PLAYERS, LEADERSHIP!, AND SO ON. MRs teams beat theirselves.

Don’t understand the pessimism. UGA should be loaded this year and i EXPECT us to win the SEC east this year because of following.

AM will be all-sec
Running game will be much improved. We just signed #1 running back prospect in america.
OL returning 4 starters (Jones, Glenn, Sturdivant and Gates)
DL should see biggest improvement with JJ on board
LB should be solid under second year tutelage of CTG
Secondary should be very good as well.
Both kickers are back and should be best tandem in america
We have one of the best kr in Brandon Boykin returning.

Schedule is much easier and player should be hungry after 2 disappointing seasons.

Also, player should be stronger and in better shape because of nutritionist and weight room changes.

The only group i see that won’t be as good as last year is WR but how can we expect to be as good there when we lost the best wr to ever play at UGA AJ Green.

I think we could have a pretty decent year 9-3 perhaps…2012 could shape up to be real special…we are not going to go undefeated but if we get the luck we didn’t get last year we will be much better than last year…but it will come down to how can the OL shape up and can we stay somewhat injury free.

People need to understand that last years team has no effect on this years team. Just ask Auburn, two years ago they were 7-6. It’s amazing what a few players can do for a football team.

Canton – I would say that history has taught us to be pessimistic.
AM’s improvements might be offset by drop in WR play.
Crowell might be great, might not. Wasn’t overwhelmed by him when he played my Grangers on ESPN.
OL returned 5 starters last year and was terrible. Now gotta get used to a new coach too.
Yeah, DL should improve. Again, though, coaching change could affect us here, at least early.
But LB loses our best defender of the last 2 seasons.
Agreed, special teams should be very solid.
Secondary? Maybe. We’ll see.

Last few years, it has looked for all the world like the pieces were there for a really good season. Hard to get my hopes up anymore. I’ll cheer like crazy. But if I’m honest, I’m skeptical.

We’re all sitting here in the office laughing are ass’es off at Joe’s blogs….Its clear he doesn’t know sh_t about football…especially Georgia. Does anyone on this blog really think that Auburn without Scam Newton and “Fairy” are gonna be that good?…not gonna happen …you can bet the house on that……,Boise State…close game but Dawgs will win based on sheer talent alone…..the Florida game will be close…but I think the Dawgs win this year…Muschamp hasn’t proven that he can coach offense yet and the Gators offense is a mess right now and I don’t see it getting any better until they decide what type of QB they want leading it …the one they have right now is a head case…I’d rank him the eighth best in the league based on his performance last year….Carolina game is gonna be close…..as will the Tennesse game …I see the Dawgs maybe losing one of those games. The Dawgs will beat Tech,Vandy, Ole Miss, Charleston Southern and Miss St. and finish with a 10-2 or 9-3 record….Hey Joe we all think your either a Tech p_ssy or Bama redneck p_ssy. You certainly don’t know football….I think you just like to hear yourself talk.

AdMan,
Muschamp won’t be coaching the offense. Charlie Weis will be. They have a senior returning and two high school all-american freshmen QB’s coming to Gainesville. One has already enrolled. I think the Gators will be okay on offense next year. Can’t be any worse than last year, can it?

I agree. That being said, we still can’t be any worse than last year on offense unless we just punt on firts down.

You know who really wants to see Mark Richt canned? Every other SEC team and Georgia “Turkey Neck and the Nerd Herd” Tech. Why? He has a winning record against all of them except Florida. He owns (record wise) Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vandy, Auburn, LSU, Bammer, and the state of Mississippi. The Nerd Herd has managed just one fluke win. That’s why they get on here and call for CMR’s job. And yes, some of them are delusional Georgia fans too. After all Zeier was right when he said some of our fans are not the brightest.

I don’t have a single tatoo but I notice them on nearly all athletes, pro and otherwise. So, I don’t think tatto’s are an exclusive Buckeye thing. Even Howard ( before I was) Trey Thompkins has tatted up. As far as betting, as previously posted, Imy limit to $20 on the dollar slots in Vegas.
