Staff changes at UGA

Georgia has promoted director of football operations Josh Brooks to assistant athletic director of internal operations.

In his new job, Brooks, 30, will assume many of the duties previously handled by Arthur Johnson, who recently resigned as associate athletic director/internal operations to take a job at Texas.

Brooks just completed his first year as football operations director after serving two years as the assistant director.

To replace Brooks as director of football operations, Georgia coach Mark Richt promoted Brad Hutcherson, who had been a graduate assistant.

Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity also amended the titles of a number of athletics department officials, although their duties remain largely the same as before.

Title changes include: Carla Williams from senior associate athletic director/senior women’s sports administrator to executive associate athletic director; Claude Felton from associate AD/sports communications to senior associate AD; Glada Horvat from assistant AD/academics and eligibility to senior associate AD; Eric Baumgartner from assistant AD/compliance to associate AD; Ted White from director of academic services to associate AD; Tim Cearley from ticket operations director to assistant AD; and Ron Courson from director of sports medicine to assistant AD.

They could use the coaches instead of lab rats. They could use players, but their intelligence wouldn’t equal the rats’.

The poor dogs can make all the staff changes they want, it will make no difference. Like the old saying goes, ” you can’t make chicken salad out of chicken#### “. This season will be a disaster for them, blowout losses to Boise, Florida, and Auburn, and certain losses to Tenn and S Car and you already have five. It is likely they will lose at least 2 of the other games, maybe three and you are looking at 5-7 or 4-8. Then it is goodbye richt and back to the drawing board. Again. See you in Jacksonville pups, Florida is going to wipe the field with you. Again

Well there Richt goes again. Just promote a grad assist to a job at Georgia. Go to uga if you want on the job training in a coaching or director job. Cant we go out and get someone who has already done the job at a lower level school?

Big mistake moving Tereshinski into the weight program. The weight program needs someone who knows modern, scientific methods used in the NFl. Ever wonder why UGA players go on to greater performance once they get to the NFL? One reason is that they get the best training. Especially, weight training.

I am sensing that the Bama and AU fans on here are a bit nervous. So much of football, like anything else, is attitude and mentality. Can’t be measured, but you know when it’s there. We haven’t had it in a while. But, I am sensing a change. And, so are they.

Am I crazy to think that we should be going after Norm Chow as OC. He has a nack for effectively getting skill people the ball. Seems like we always have too many 5star recruits that get maybe 5 touches a year.

I don’t think even Norm Chow can get the ball to Georgia’s skill people when they are home enjoying the day off, I mean serving another suspension from the head coach.

Gatormeat: Florida just had 2 weak years and you just lost your best Coach ever and hired 2 guys for their body of work. Note: They haven’t done JACK yet, so if I were you I would be very concerned.

DawginDuluth: There are no NEW “modern, scientific methods” in the weight room. It is about intensity and desire.. The methods are taught the same in every weight room “bigger , faster, stronger” It is the instructor and his team who make the diffrence.

Have you ever been in a controlled weight room environment? No I don’t mean Golds Gym…

Yeah, that’s real change… keep the people but give them different titles. That will change everything, right?

The expertise doesn’t change and therefore neither will the performance. Is this what we brought McGarity in to do? He’s taken a page out of the Obama plan for “change.” Let’s hope he doesn’t have similar results.

where were bama fans 1993-2008?

January 22nd, 2011

Under a rock , thats where. There was no sign of the mostly trailer park fan base from Stallings to Saban. Now these frontrunners are everywhere. I dont pull for Auburn or Alabama any more than the other, but I have to admit, I really enjoy how you Bama fans are having a hard time adjusting to the fact that you are all of a sudden yesterday’s news. How does it feel to be #2 in the state of Alabama? Which really isnt anything new..was it 6 or 7 times in a row Auburn beat Bama this decade?

Really??

Well, if Thomas Brown was number 7 on the debth chart when he came to UGA, then we are in trouble not having but three rb’s, moving a TE to FB and hopeing Crowell comes to UGA. There is truth about competition of numbers. We need OLmen and RB’s. We have an over abundance of WR’s, TE’s and QB’s. Not a good mix of talent with need. We have competition in the WR’s and TE’s but no competition with QB nor OL.

McGarity is to be commended for not firing career employees the way Evans did on his 1st day. Who knows what the different titles mean other than the effected employees. I think that McGarity is in the process designing a dept. that will not be a laughing stock of the SEC they way it has since Jan Kemp to Red Panties Evans. You clean up your own shop first and then go after other problems that crop up.

I don’t believe UGA should fire Mark Richt at all……at least this guy stays the course….he is not a quitter like Nick Satan or Urban Cryer…….Richt is the best coach UGA has ever had and is more of a man than Satan or Cryer…..so all the cry babies who like what Bamas, Auburn or the Gators programs look like, im sure you can get some season tickets…..i say Go Dawgs!!!…..It’s all about players and how they perform…..hell, Spurrier is one of the best college coaches ever and can’t even win a title at South Carolina…..because their players suck!!

The UGA fans talk a good game but your trophy case says you don’t play so well. As far as recruting goes I think if you check Rivals today you will find Alabama at the top…that is #1 for you UGA fans that have have never been to the top. You guys need to do something and then comeback and talk about the results! Until then the UGA=KY.

All the bad press directed to CMR over the last couple of years has been earned. I’ve been very critical of CMR and staff for the coaching and off-field problems and was in agreement with the statements made by Fran Tarkenton recently. I am curious though why all the oversigning that is going on especially within the SEC with some of the current hot programs does not rate more attention from the AJC. What some of these programs are doing is down right dishonest to the young men being recruited and the AJC should bring to light how these programs have so much quality depth. Hold those coaches feet to the fire just as you hold CMR accountable.
