Staff changes at UGA

Georgia has promoted director of football operations Josh Brooks to assistant athletic director of internal operations.

In his new job, Brooks, 30, will assume many of the duties previously handled by Arthur Johnson, who recently resigned as associate athletic director/internal operations to take a job at Texas.

Brooks just completed his first year as football operations director after serving two years as the assistant director.

To replace Brooks as director of football operations, Georgia coach Mark Richt promoted Brad Hutcherson, who had been a graduate assistant.

Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity also amended the titles of a number of athletics department officials, although their duties remain largely the same as before.

Title changes include: Carla Williams from senior associate athletic director/senior women’s sports administrator to executive associate athletic director; Claude Felton from associate AD/sports communications to senior associate AD; Glada Horvat from assistant AD/academics and eligibility to senior associate AD; Eric Baumgartner from assistant AD/compliance to associate AD; Ted White from director of academic services to associate AD; Tim Cearley from ticket operations director to assistant AD; and Ron Courson from director of sports medicine to assistant AD.

lower our ticket price as a result of poor football!!!!

sounds fair after all, why promote anyone after 2010 season

You own Alabama? Seriously? You may have owned Mike Shula and an Alabama team that was decimated by probation earlier this century. But taming an Alabama team at full strength like the 08 team on blackout night is a whole nother thing as you found out.

BTW we lead the overall series by a double digit margin and have won 4 of the last 7. Now you can always pick a point in time and say UGA has won 3 of the last 4 but come on- who wasn’t beating Mike Shula in the early 2000s?

Let’s talk again after the imminent beating that we will administer upon you in about 9 months.

Alabama was back for one year

Last year with all of that Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep talent, Alabama had how many ugly losses? AU owned them and so did SC and LSU and one or two more.

Yes, in 09 they won the NC. Year prior they got blown out by Utah or Utah State in the Sugar Bowl. They were humiliated far worse than UGA losing to CF. No one saw UGA’s Memphis game but Alabama lost on prime time in the Sugar and humiliated themselves and the SEC.

So, beyond 09, what has Alabama done since their last NC in 91 or 93? Nothing.

Alabama was back for 35 minutes one year. If Nick does nor win another NC in 2011, he will bore and leave and then …………….another 20,30 year slumber.

Chizk wons y’all now. Alabama is HIS BOY.

I know that this position isn’t going to greatly impact the performance/improvement of our football team, but CMR continues to promote within instead of seeking the best person for the job like Mack Brown. Josh might be the best man for the job, but I feel that Richt isn’t trying to put together the best staff in the country and instead is loyal to his staff and rewards them with promotions…a huge flaw and not what you see National Championship winning coaches do! Yes, if you can’t tell, I’m ready for a change at UGA starting with the head coach…

Take it for what it is worth. UGA has as many MNCs as these teams and less than many of them, but here is UGA’s record againt the MNC champs since UGA’s in 1980.

Still@the bar–you might want to leave the bar. UGA and Bama have not played that many times since 1980 (unless of course they have played 63 times). The record since 1980 is UGA 5 and Bama 5. So there is no dominance on either’s side head to head.

6-7 season, loss in a lower level bowl game, losing the states best recruits to out of state schools, shedding assistants like rats leaving a sinking ship, assistants staying not worth a damn, leads the nation in athlete arrests, and watching damn near every other SEC team win a NC and UGA spends time reorganizing job titles? Doomed.

Let me get this straight–that is more of a concern to me than reorganizing job titles or worrying about some drooling bammer head about titles, which Bama can crow all they want–they have a ton of them–losing seasons with multiple MNC flags are at least digestable in the lean times–we need to refocus, recruit–dismiss BooBoo and rethink UGA football.

I just find UGA has a lot of great wins but never seems to get to the BIG GAME. They are 7-4-3 head-to-head against the BEST since 1980. It really puts UGA in the same class with Clemson, BYU, Ga Tech, Colorado, and Michigan. All the other teams have at least 2 MNCs from the major sports writers and or coaches. I didn’t realize UGA was so average compared to how the DAWG FANS think they are.

im not sure why everyone is on bobo–we avereaged 33-34 pts a game last year. yes, we sucked hind tit in the bowl, but a tiny bit of defense would have helped. bobo is fine

is that Peachtree City? I think you have to have a Valid license to ride a scooter on the street. If you are from Peachtree City then you know even golf carts have to be licensed and valid drivers only. Wrong way scooter, but a Suspended Drivers License is the real crime. How do kids that haven’t even been driving for 5 yrs have their license suopended? Tickets, no tag, or no insurance are pretty big deals if the UGA player hit you car on you child.
KIDS WILL BE KIDS right? They or their parents are not being responsible but, that dude can Tote, Shoot, or throw the Rock right? It is all good if they are too stupid to be on the road cause they can play ball. Players at every school have to follow the RULES of LAW.

Has anybody seen what is on Thomas Brown’s resume? Did he get his degree or take any classes that cover what he is doing for his job now? I know he knows how to lift weight and workout, but does he have anything more than a GYM RATS knowledge?

Greg McGarity later announced some additional amended the titles of a number of athletics department officials, although their duties remain largely the same as before. They include:

Mark Richt: executive interim athletic director of football research and chaplaincy services.

Mike Bobo: associate athletic coordinator for long distance play action and football reproductive science.

Bruce Grantham: associate coordinating executive director for athletic nutrition and respiratory therapy.

Rodney Garner: executive director of associate athletic human resources development emeritus.

Dave Van Halanger: directing executive of the unity council for associate athletic human resources.

Joe Tereshinski, Jr.: coordinating director of associate athletic human resources development and occupational therapy.

John Eason: coordinating executive director for associate academic development and legal counsel.

These amended titles go into effect on Monday, January 24, 2011.
