UGA linebacker will transfer

Georgia inside linebacker Marcus Dowtin has played his final game for the Bulldogs.

Dowtin, a junior from Upper Marlboro, Md., has been granted an unconditional release from his scholarship to transfer to another school, UGA said Tuesday without further comment.

Reports surfaced last week that Dowtin had faced a second-degree assault charge stemming from a Maryland bar fight last May. The case was resolved in December, but Georgia coach Mark Richt did not learn of the incident until last week. (See this AJC story for more details on the case.)

Dowtin, who appeared in 11 games and started two this past season, didn’t play in the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 31 because of what was described a coach’s decision unrelated to the Maryland matter. He was fourth on the Georgia team in tackles for the season with 57.

This young man was arrested last summer and Coach Richt claims he knew nothing about it.

How can that be? If it is true, the young man should have been removed from the program for witholding this information from the coaching staff.

If you think UGA is the exception rather than the rule than you are a complete fool! This type of crap goes on everywhere. Unfortunately for us UGA fans we don’t sweep it under the rug. Alabama and Tennessee are the worlds worst at sweeping incidents like this under the rug and you never hear another word about it. Please see the Bar Knoxville incident for UT. They (Several Members of the Team) put an off duty cop in the hospital. One player got dismissed because it was his second maybe 3rd infraction and he ran from the cops too. The others involved didn’t pay the type of price that Dowtin is paying. Just Saying….!

This is the best move for all concerned and there is no point in dragging Dowtin through the mud.
It will be interesting to see where Dowtin resurfaces since, unusually in a transfer, UGA has done it unconditionally allowing him to go to another SEC school.

Getting in a bar fight? That’ll get you in some serious hot water with the coach. Getting in a bar fight and not telling the coach about it? That’ll get you kicked off the team. After all the hullabaloo in the past year or so about such off-the-field issues, Richt had no choice. Me? I still think it points to a fairly significant recruiting problem (that is, someone keeps green-lighting offers to these numbskulls).

Bulldawg1444 -

Yeah, you keep apologizing for Richt. That was a 2 yr coach who won the BCS last night. Guys like you are why we’ve turned into Kentucky/Ole Miss.

We know jack squat about running the ball, or stopping the run. It takes stones to compete in the SEC, and the only stones Richt had left with Van Gorder.

Bobo and his sissy flag football offense are a joke – and the recruits have finally figured that out.

We wasted 4 yrs of Stafford, 2 yrs of Green, and God knows how much more talent. Georgia football players are studs in high school, and then again when they hit the NFL. Why? Because their college coach sucked.

Here’s a reality check for you tinkerbells…

1. Auburn
2. Alabama
3. Fla
4. Arkansas
5. LSU

6. South Carolina
7. Miss St.

I agree to an extent Mitch but you need both if you want to CONSISTENTLY play at a high level. Stanford had a great season this year but their records for the 3 prior seasons were 8-5, 5-7, and 4-8. Even if Harbaugh would have stayed at Stanford, they would have had a difficult time consistently competing for a BCS slot.

A few salient comments:

1. Four different SEC teams have won the last five BCS championships.

2. UGA was not one of those teams.

3. During that period, UGA did not win the SEC championship.

4. During that period, UGA did not even win its SEC division.

In other words, UGA has sunk into total irrelevancy both regionally and nationally.

So why is UGA paying Mark Richt millions of dollars a year?

I agree with the other posters who say that things are not thrown under the rug in Athens. Case in point up in Knoxville with the bar fight, over in Tuscaloosa with one of the players being shot in the arm be a known drug dealer (it was reported in self defense) or with Ryan Mallett being taken home in Fayetteville by police officers on more than one occasion after being pulled over for DUI. The player should have reported the incident to his position coach. Since we do not know how the incident was resolved it is useless to speculate about whether he would have been punished. Can we stop acting like we are surprised when this type of incident occurs? I do not care which team a player is on. These are young very physical men with enough testosterone to fuel a small city. If possible, I would rather see rehabilitation for players who commit smaller infractions and when possible minimize the media treatment. This happens to be Dowtin’s 2nd barfight during his time at UGA. Refer back to summer 2008 when he and Donovon Baldwin (a former player who subsequently got kicked off at the fight bc of a DUI) were involved in a barfight in an Athens’ bar. Dowtin was bust in the jar and required wiring and Baldwin got slashed in the neck with a bottle and almost died bc of the proximity of the wound to a major artery. Dowtin isn’t an angel at all. @Jason13..good comments, and you are correct in showing that alot of this gets swept under the rug at other schools…to me the situation at Tenn is one of the worst i have seen in how that was handled…not picking on Tenn, but when an officer, off-duty or not lands in the hospital and its a known fact that your players were involved but the punishment or non-punishment seems absurd in my opinion..look at the Gators..and Mr. Rainey…still on the team…there are many examples of this…I watch the BCS last night and saw continued dirty play by certain players on Au..but hey unless its the dawgs, lets just look the other way…it appears that the dawgs are changing their approach to some of the disciplinary problems and i applaud that, maybe it should have been done sooner, but bottomline they are taking the steps to get the ship righted…the shame in some of these incidents and that these guys will turn around and sign with other schools and they wont blink an eye…See Ole Miss, LSU, Au, Tenn, USC,Fla, and others…and i will say this if we sign players that have gotten in trouble at other schools then i will have a problem with that at UGA also…

Alabama Football: Nobody Wants to Be in The Nick Saban Dog House

Though you’ll never find it on campus, Saban’s dog house is the most feared thing on campus.
For College Football Fans
5 Reasons Why Chris Peterson Should be Stanford’s Next Coach
Top Commitments from the U.S. Army All-American Bowl
10 Reasons Why Terrelle Pryor Was Smart to Return to Ohio State
Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) Last week Kevin Norwood snagged a pass, dodged the defenders and somersaulted into the end zone. Bad move Kevin.

You just earned an all expense paid trip to Nick Saban’s dog house.

Did anybody see Kevin Norwood after that?

The old saying among coaches like Saban is simple. When you score, act like you’ve been there before.

Something tells me Kevin will remember that the next time he scores and simply tosses the ball to the ref and trots off the field. The question is, when will he be allowed to do that?

Eddie Lacy was having a wonderful first game, He was running hard, scoring and looking like the back of the future that most had predicted he would be, and then he fumbled at the goal line.

You didn’t see much of Eddie in the second game.

On Saban’s team, you protect the ball and you don’t showboat. Doing those things earns you a trip to the doghouse, and this one isn’t like the air conditioned one that the University of Georgia gives to UGA, the team mascot.

Chance Warmack has three penalties last week including a rare holding penalty. I wonder if he’ll have the same amount of playing time this week or what penalties he may have faced in practice this week.

Accountability is all part of Saban’s system, and the players all know it.

These are but minor infractions though.

Break a team rule or NCAA violation and the trip may be longer and much more severe. Some players like Prince Hall, who violated a team rule never really got out of the dog house and left the program.

There have been other such examples. Hall was a starter as a freshman but on Saban’s team it doesn’t matter if you’re a starter like Hall or an up and comer like Norwood, breaking the rules earns you a trip to the dog house no matter who you are.

Because this is a group of young men who have bought in to that program, such problems are now rare cases instead of the norm.

Team discipline problems that plague Florida and Georgia are all but non existent these days in Tuscaloosa.

One team member last year told me that they fear Saban’s punishment much more than anything the police would do to them.

To me, that sounds like Saban’s dog house has accomplished its purpose.

January 11th, 2011
7:42 pm

i have not noticed the helmet in the back thing but what i did notice is….

more than one dawg lineman or linebacker grab an opposing players foot and roll. this happens multiple times a game.

that they did the same thing josh nesbitt in fact and put him out of the game. way to go cheating dawgs.

sorry but this fan does not go along with putting out an opposing player via injury for one down let alone a game.

lets face it. espn being the fund raiser for the sec is not the only reason that the sec wins. the sec cheats and stretches the ncaa rules as much as possible. see saban an vince probation every 4.2 years dooley for instance. And…

they do not graduate their players.

they are nothing more than a bunch of gt basketball teams playing football. ie. semi pro developemental league for hs players who have no intention of ever graduating.

is it any wonder that the other leagues can not keep up with the lying cheating dirty playing win at all cost sec teams?

It is what it is. Suck it up and let’s see what happens. If they win the SEC East and maybe the Conference next year, almost all of you will ‘love the guy’. If he makes it through this and starts winning at a high level again, he could be here 10-15 more years – another Vince Dooley with a BETTER record.

Every time a kid screws up, whether CMR is aware or not, it is always CMR’s fault.

The last 6, or 7 incidents, he has done exactly what is right. In fact, he has been over-the-top, with discipline.

Fran being upset over Mett is a joke. You get a case for something like that……….it’s time to roll out.

He made it sound like LSU was better than us for accepting a kid with a rap like that.

Beat a coach up for losing, or beat a coach up for letting the program get out of control, but when a coach lets a problematic kid go, cuz he’s a cancer, don’t rake him over the coals cuz the program is out of control. CMR is reeling the program back in right now (or McGarity is).

Dowtin was the best LB on the team . After last years performance he was the one I thought that could make a difference in 2010. He didn’t get much PT until very late in year but was 4th on team in tackles. If he was a cancer then good riddance. Robinson’s path to the ball was usually the long route. Our LB’s will be better next year than this, due to recruiting some absolute studs at OLB and getting Jarvis and Richard Samuel back. There is a chance that Mr. Robinson will just be a good special teams player next year.

After living in Atlanta, GA for over 10 years I got the chance to move to Auburn this summer and took it. I never read UGA blogs before because I liked my UGA friends and the excitement around SEC football. The AU/UGA weekend was always the best SEC weekend. Man, you people (me included tonight) that sit behind a keyboard and still talk about the Auburn game really need to get over it. UGA is in trouble, and Auburn will be next year, but we’re not gonna sit behind a computer and blame the best offensive and defensive player and coach of the year your loss. You lost because CMR has no heart. Didn’t it seem during you bowl game that he was asleep? No emotion, no fire, no energy, no TEAM! That’s what we did this year. Probably won’t happen again, but it was a fun, great year. By the way, you can smash each player behind your keyboard if you want, but I welcome you to come on down and see Cam, Zach, Nick and the boys come tutor kids at our school each week. I welcome you to come to campus and see the volunteer work these “stars” do. I welcome you to the barber shop that Gene let my son sit on his lap to get a haircut. Yeah, these guys are trash… Was a UGA guy, but now we are home in Auburn! By the way, I went to Kansas on a scholarship – I was the only “black sheep” that did not attend AU in my family.

Either there are people on this blog trying to start something or there is just a lot of idiots on here these guys that attend our program are grown men and are responsible for their own actions. I hate people on here that try and put the ownership on CMR. He is not a babysitter, yes he is the head football coach and the overall team is his responsibility, but he can’t be with these guys every minute of the day. When they’re in the recruitment process the only time Richt sees them is either at their parents house, official visits, or at their highschool there is no way Richt can tell what this person will do years down the road. You people act like you have done background checks on the individuals on the team and they all have prior criminal history. Not trying to make excusses for these guys but they are young and have a lot of growing up to do, and you guys on here are quick to label someone thugs. Some people on here might be surprised if they found out what their own kids are really doing when they are not around them. You can’t hold Richt responsible for the actions of eighty or so grown men when they are own their free time. You can only judge Richt by how he handles the situation and if he gets rid of the player than obviously he’s not condoning this type of behavior. When I was off in college I meet so many prep type kids who were doing things you prabably could’nt convince their parents they did even if you had pictures does that make them thugs. You can only teach someone so much than it’s up to them to make the right decision. Holding CMR responsible for grown men’s actions is simply not right.

CMR will alway’s give a player a second and sometimes a third chance but the one thing he will not tolerate , and I agree , is for one of his players to be dishonest or to lie to him. You get no chances for that. You can teach a kid better ethics, integrity, and morals but if you are dishonest and are a lier at 18 years old it’s hard to change that behavior.

Auburn should have had someone talk to the Arizona Cardinals about what type cleat to wear on that horrible field.

The PAC-10 had exactly 2 Top 25 ranked teams. Stanford got to play an ACC team oh great. An ACC team who by the way lost to Boise State and lost to James Madison. Stanford beat no one. Oregon therefore beat no one. Auburn has 7 wins over Top 25 final AP Poll teams. Oregon 1 Stanford 1.

Mark Richt is 2-11 vs Top 25 teams final AP Poll 2008, 2009 and 2010. Michigan State 2008 and Georgia tek 2009, with none this season at 0-5. 1-3 for 2008, 1-3 for 2009 and 0-5 for 2010 is 2-11.

Former players saying Mark Richt is not getting the job done :

HERSCHEL WALKER : recruiting in-state, losses, no discipline

FRAN TARKENTON : losses last 3 years, arrests / suspensions, Mark Richt not spending time on football, preacher’s son saying Mark Richt is really a missionary, signing recruits who go on to not play for Mark Richt going on forever, and Mark Richt lies (spins) cop-outs.

Another example of what Fran Tarkenton is talking about – MARCUS DOWTIN Mark Richt recruit from Fort Union Military Academy in Maryland.

You idiots blaming Richt for this are just absolute biased haters. Do you expect him to restrict travel on all these kids? Do you expect him to tell them they have to go straight from the dorms/apartments to class to the practice field and back? Do you expect him to hire a gestapo like control squad to enforce this?

Richt did exactly the right thing. Dowtin cheap-shotted someone after being told not to touch a lady in that persons group. He then decided not to tell the Georgia staff because he knew he would get thrown off the team immediately. This guy has lifetime criminal written all over him.

I will say one thing that bothers me. The kids being recruited these days seem to be far more morally bankrupt than in years past. I don’t know if it’s the divorce/single parent rates or just parents that just don’t drive home the correct values. Maybe it’s the culture in the areas they grow up in, or peer influence .. I don’t know. All I know is these kids seem to think the world owes them something just because they are a little better athletically. Unless all coaches start taking the stand that Richt is taking by dropping them immediately and also not picking up anyone who left another school due to problems (cough .. Cam Newton .. cough), these kids will never clean up their act and more victims will be hurt in the process. Maybe this is just the overall turn that society is taking, but it’s getting really old.

You have got to love those that say that UGA recruits these thugs, like every other coach in the SEC and a lot of other out of conference coaches never recruit these same folks. You either recruit them and hope they will behave and grow up, or another coach recruits them with the same hope. Personal responsibility is what is needed. Also, quit putting these kids up on a pedestal just because they are good at a talent that was God given. If they lack the morale fiber, or upbringing to succeed at the college level, and they are recruited by a school; You get what you asked for. CMR did the right thing. This kid caused a man to have a concussion. You simply can not have it both ways, but for logical reason alone, do not condemn the coach for doing the right thing, and in the same breath, condemn him for not recruiting the kid, because he has a questionalbe past. Decide what you want, and yes, there are enough good morale charactor kids out there, that will keep you competitive in the SEC or any other conference.

I’m waiting to see how we handle Boise St. in the opening game at the Ga. Dome next year. Boise St. has a great team, but UGA should be able to handle them with the talent that we have. It’s going to take coaching and training and this will be a good test for the Dawgs to see just how much MR has done to turn the program around. If UGA falls flat on their face in this game then it’s time to make some major changes.

“…That was a 2 yr coach that one the NC…”
Helps to have a Heisman winner on your team. See what happens next year without Cam and Fairly. It’s like Mussberger the other night saying “…Pete Carroll brought the Seahawks to the playoffs…” Heck no he didn’t; the SYSTEM allowed a losing team into the playoffs.

“…BostonDawg…Yes, they are setting examples…How many examples will it take before the team is made entirely of walk-ons?…”
However many it takes to get the point across.

“…Vance Duuley…Dowtin should have been dismissed when Richt first heard about the barroom brawl…”
What do you think just happened? Dowtin didn’t play in the Liberty bowl. CMR investigated further and now Dowtin’s off the team. CMR showed compassion letting him transfer.

“….Richt needs to tighten up his ship! Goodbye to Dawgs top 3 tacklers this season…”
That’s a little contradictory.

“…This young man was arrested last summer and Coach Richt claims he knew nothing about it…”
Maybe you can come up with a way to baby-sit 85 people 24/7, 365. And, what’s the process in checking police records in every town every player visits?

Contrary to what some of you commenters think and say, CMR HAS dismissed and HAS suspended several players. Some he has allowed to transfer; nothing wrong with that. Coaches are not baby-sitters. Nor are other faculty members. It’s quite myopic to think UGA has a “problem” vis-a-vis other schools. Players getting in trouble is a national phenomena. Sit down for one day and read newspapers from college towns (or college newspapers) all across the county. At the “Auburn Wins NC” articles, I’ve never seen so much vitriol aimed at another school (Auburn, Cam, and Cecil Newton). Most of it is misplaced, since Cecil Newton was dealing with a booster from Ms State; had nothing to do with Auburn. More might come out, but “that’s the facts” for right now. Sure looks like sour grapes from Bulldog fans; and it’s embarrassing we can’t be gracious in defeat and congratulate someone else’s success.

The use of the term “thug” is getting old. It’s just young people getting in trouble. Happens everywhere and with non-athletes alike. Not paying a traffic ticket does not a “thug” make. You’d think they were selling dope and running prostitution rings the way some of y’all react. Yes, there are too many arrests of UGA football players. Most of these young men seem upright/upstanding when the coaches visit their schools and their homes. Most seem to have fine parents. Most get glowing reviews and accolades from their HS coaches. Have you ever seen a comment at rivals.com or scout.com about character issues? I think the UGA admin and CMR are doing all they can. And, I think they are as perplexed as we are.

“How many examples..” indeed.

I can’t believe coach Richt did not know about Dowkin until after the Liberty bowl. What was the real reason he did not play. If this event happened to Dowkin in May, why did the coaching staff just fine out about it. This shows just how out of touch they are with keeping up with their players. It shows up with the arrest of 12 players and King not being able to go and play the last game of the year. This is a direct responsibility of Coach Richt, who has to be in charge and the leader. This has not been the case. Fran is right on his assessment.

Well that is one player already that won’t be playing in the Boise State game (or any other games for that matter) due to another UGA brain injury.

What is the over under on prominant players not being able to play in the opener due to these mental injuries at UGA. I think the line should be around 6 or 7.

I was ridiculed on these blogs after worrying what the storm would be like for Richt if we lost this opener. Many put me down saying “UGA will never lose to Boise State, there is just too much difference in talent.”

I think Central Florida showed us that this simply is not the case. Add in that the first game of the year is the most dangerous (less talented team has the best chance to win that game than they do any other since there is no pre-season to work out the kinks). Also add in that we will be without 6-8 significant contributers due to UGA brain injuries (suspensions) PLUS any real physical injuries that take place and Richt is literally coaching for his job in a single game playoff against a well coached team with UGA undermanned.

Does anyone believe that this staff INCLUDING RICHT could survive a loss to Boise State in the opener. I think he would be fired within 2 weeks if we lose that game as everything would come apart at the seams.

As a comparison, look at Duke basketball. Coach K recruits mostly guys without all of the stars and they coach them up, and they stay the course. CMR and company need to get after those without all of the 4 or 5 stars, and coach them up. I know, easier said than done, and do we have the staff in place to do that? I would think that there are plenty of 1,2 or 3, star guys out there that are not the prima-donnas and just want a chance to play. Awbuhn Tigers/Plainsmen/War Eagles proved this year, you just buy the best player from his dad, and make sure of plausible deniability. NCAA, wake up. Time to vacate. AJ Green dealt with an “individual determined by the NCAA to be an agent”. Anyone heard from that guy lately? And Cam Newton had no idea his dad was shopping him around. You certainly didn’t hear of this kind of crap, at least no where near as much, 5, 10, 15 years ago. Let’s set high standards, reward the achievers, and cut the ones that don’t measure up. Tired of hearing of the off-the-field issues. Dooley NEVER had this problem. We need to get back to the old days when kids actually appreciated their scholarship. Nowadays, it’s all about “Watch me make my decision on TV” or “I’ll just flip a coin” or some sort of self-indulgent crap like that. These kids need to show some signs of maturity, make their decision, honor their commitment, keep their nose clean, and prove the scholarship was not wasted on some “punk”.

Personally, I think Caleb should be the next to go. He was over-rated going from Parkview to GAC and has spent more time on the sidelines than between them. And his off-the-field issues don’t enhance his position.

The Rev Chette at Auburn is much a much larger problem than Cam for pay. You will see in the coming weeks just why a lot of GA kids attend the plains and it’s not because Gene Cheezstraw is the reason. Using the Lord to recruit and funnel money to these kids is terrible but Auburn has no standards. Never have and never will and don’t wish to have any standards. When Alabama hired Saban that sent the banker, the woodman and the old coach into high gear. It’s coming and all the blowhard AU fans on this blog will never been heard from again.

I am blown away by the ignorance. Anybody that knows a thing about college football knows how cyclical it is. Look at the years Texas and Florida had. Urban could certainly still be there if he wanted to, and Mack Brown isn’t going anywhere. Stanford and Auburn are perfect examples of one player ( Andrew Luck, Cam Newton) making an average team with average coaches look very, very good. Mark Richt is the 5th winningest active coach in college football. A few key recruits and a very good young quarterback will turn this program back in the right direction immediately.
Also, Tarkenton is a moron. Even if were qulified to do so, you don,t take shots at your head coach or your program at the height of the recruiting season. Get your head out of your a$$ Sir Francis.

I’m sure he’ll transfer to Auburn — sounds like he’ll fit in good there. Auburn is a dirty program and their antics during the championship game are a disgrace to college football.

I agree with TW Chizik national championshipin two years. We are at the level of Vandy, Ole Miss and KY. Richt refuses to fire his stupid no talent OC the OL sucks the DL sucks all we have are a bunch of incompitants runnig the GA program. I will say it right, now there will be little improvement next year.

Richt is not going anywhere and the REAL dog fans outside of the AJC blogs, support him. Look on the Ledger-Enquirer UGA blog and the other blogs in the state. When this all settles and everyone stops dreaming of another Saban who is not available, they will realize ALL coaches and programs go through ups and downs and it is not just because all of a sudden the coach forgot how to coach! This is Richt’s first time going through anything like this. This is his first head coaching job and will only be better because of it. Thank God none of you are in any position of authority and for the men who are in authority obviously not agreeing with you because Richt still has a job so like the A.D. said, get on the bandwagon or go root for another school because Richt is staying baby!

when UGA was on top and winning championships, it was these so called thugs that u people seem to want off the team that were on the field doing the dirty work. U name almost any player on the GA defenses that won championships and ill show u a so called thug. keep recruiting the guys from private schools that are apart of the good ole boy circuit and we will keep getting worse.

TW- your so full of stupidity, you need to change schools. I recall we ended up 2nd in the nation Stafford’s second year. An early loss to Carolina and we’re playing for title. What about the years before that with little Greene QB and overachieving players? Who coached them up?
It’s about getting football players and not stars .Real fans aren’t ( I ) people and work towards a goal as a team including fans. Saben lost three games? What about Spurrier, can he coach? What’s his record at SC? If you want to help the Dawgs say positive comments or shut up

The TRUTH is that this program is in decline. If you don’t admit it or just think that it is a normal decline that will correct itself on its own, then keep thinking that. But just understand that doing nothing will create the same results.

I appreciate the fact that Fran Tarkenton had the nads to speak up. Fran knows a whole lot more about football than any poster on this board – that’s for certain.

So, keep supporting CMR and we will keep seeing the same results. If those results make some of you happy then ok; I know our rivals (except maybe Yech) certainly hope that CMR stays at UGA. Why? Because their schedule just got easier with UGA in a downturn. CMR led UGA into this downturn and some of you think that he will right the ship. Frankly, the captain and owners of the RMS Titanic thought the same thing… that is until they were floating in the water! CMR’s press conference to placate the restless and to reassure fans that everything is ok reminds me of the band that played on the deck of the Titanic up to the very end. Yes, their music was lovely and it perhaps had a calming effect, but it didn’t stop the ship from sinking.

Why don’t y’all get off my dang tail ? I’ve been studying football real hard since the end of the season. If we don’t get better next year it has to be Bobo’s fault, ok guys? When I fire him I figure that’ll get me another 2 years before I have to blame somebody else for my coaching disability.

Reading comments on here shows the losers we are becoming. Complaing that other schools are sweeping things under the rug, the Gene Chizk has no morals….. What BS!

I am a Bulldog but my family is close to the Auburn program. Yes they do handle things in house, but they handle it. Kids know up front the consequences of messing up. And Gene Chizik is a great man.

As far as Fairley goes, I would take him on my team any day. He is the best player in the SEC. UGA tried chop blocking and holding and evey other thing in the book to stop them but couldn.t.

This Dowtin mess is another indication that program is out of control. Mark is out of touch and even a one year success next year is just a cover up of the overall condition of the program. There is no respect from the players to the coaches. There is no repsect of the red jersey and wanting to wear it, I really feel that we need to quit recruiting the stars and look into the hearts of the kids and find out who reallt wants to wear the Red and Black. There are way too many on this team that don;t reall y have it in their heart,

Good on CMR. He did the right thing with this kid. He will end up in a smaller division college most likely, because I do not think there will be a lot of SEC teams that want his attitude problem. It is a shame that a kid would throw it all away because he thinks he is special because he can play football.
As for the folks that critisize this move. You should never complain about CMR being too soft anymore. You can’t have it both ways. I would much sooner see a more disciplined team, than a bunch of spoiled kids that can’t act civilized representing UGA. Of course, there will still be a certain amount of jokers that get on these discussions and critisize UGA no matter what, and all I can say to you children, is grow up. If all you can do is come on another teams message board and start with your childish, moronic comment, you must really be in need of some type of ego boost. UGA is going to be just fine, if the coach gets that old fire back and the players respond favorably. If they do not want to play like they should, let them transfer as well. UGA has plenty of talent. It is up to the coaches to utilize it effectively and the players to put in the effort needed.

Really Snake Doc? Donnan’s boys? That’s laughable!!! He never brought in an RB the caliber of Knowshon, never a WR the caliber of Mohammed Massaquoi (much less AJ Green), and absolutely never had a QB the caliber of Matt Stafford. Richt has had two down seasons but Donnan’s last 3 years were 9-3, 8-4, and 8-4. Under Richt, the dawgs have had 6 10+ win seasons, an SEC Championship and finished in the top 5 twice. Sure, bring back Donnan so we can keep winning the crap bowl. Snake Doc is trying to lecture us about “life” when he sounds like a 14 year old who got sent to his room.

This was a total over reaction by CMR!! By getting rid off dowtin takes some attention off of his losing season, he got rid of coach Martinez last year and that obviously was not the answer, its time for a change alright but with players!! Rather with the lack of leadership being demonstrated by the Head Coach on and off the field, its a shame that I have to endure atleast a half of season before the new AD finally fires him next year!!!! Winning changes alot!!
