MEMPHIS — Uga VIII will miss the Liberty Bowl on Friday because of illness.
Georgia’s bulldog mascot is sidelined with a “gastro-intestinal condition,” the university announced late Thursday afternoon, and did not make the trip to Memphis.
“Russ,” the former interim mascot, again will fill in, as he did for the final two games last season and the first six this year. Russ has bowl experience, having been in Shreveport for Georgia’s victory over Texas A&M in last season’s Independence Bowl.
Uga VIII took over as Georgia’s mascot at the Oct. 16 homecoming game against Vanderbilt.
Georgia plays Central Florida in the Liberty Bowl at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

I’m an Auburn fan but I LOVE UGA. Bless his heart. I hope he isn’t sickly–losing 3 UGA’s in a couple of years would be extremely sad.

RC,
Tell that to Atl-AU…..I bet there is one auburn booster who is quite nervous at the moment and just hoping and praying the link between him and Cam’s brother(who actually received the pay for play money and then gave it to his ‘pops’) is never established……

most always wins in the last few minutes, based on desire, hard work, knowledge and conditioning”.. “Also when the going gets tough, the tough has to get going”,,,.

need to switch to the AMERICAN BULLDOG better breed, that English(unpatriotic) Bulldog is as inbred as some of the fans and has all the genetic problems that come with that, more sickly than the russina royal family was. somebody take off the voer and let that gene pool breathe a little!

You Dawg fans who keep repeating Tech scores like a mantra enjoy yourselves all you want. The thing is… Tech alumni and fans have lives that don’t depend entirely on what a bunch of kids does on Saturday afternoons. College sports are fun to follow, but the biggest reason for going to college is to get an education. Unfortunately and shamefully, most UGA football players end up either unemployed and homeless, or have menial jobs in custodial or sanitation workers.
UGA fans don’t seem to care about anything but football, and they don’t care if their players are enrolled in silly majors that no parents who are paying the bills would send their kids to UGA for. The very few football and basketball players who graduate have no job opportunities and end up unemployed or working in menial jobs that hardly require a college degree.
Georgia Tech is a real school with serious academic standards, and that includes scholarshipped athletes. UGA has a long history of being a party school, where parents send their kids for an easy degree, even if the degree itself is practically worthless.
Jan Kemp exposed the crap going on at UGA with athletes being enrolled in courses a ten-year-old kid could pass. That was almost three decades ago, and nothing has changed. If anything, the abuses are more blatant today. Way too many illiterate morons are being recruited, and the very high arrest rate shows clearly that Richt does not care if his players have any morals or self-discipline.
The bottom line is that most Tech fans have very good jobs and productive lives that don’t depend on Tech’s football record for their happiness in life. It would be great to beat UGA more often, but when you put scholar-athletes up against thug-athletes, it’s usually no contest.
It’s pretty pathetic to see UGA’s retarded fans who typically have never been within miles of a college classroom and who live or die with UGA’s weekly results on the football field.
So keep on posting scores all you want, especially since you’re home with plenty of time on your hands. I wish you well, maybe you’ll get lucky and get your old job back at the Waffle House before your unemployment checks stop coming.

Uga is just sick of the NCAA, college athletics, and most of all these fans that think they are the next Vince Lombardi. UGA knows you have two kind sof people in sports. You have the competitors that played and know the game and you have those that watch sports and think they know it all. It turns my stomach also. It is not about the kids or the game anymore. It is about filling the luxury suites with spoiled boosters, and going to the right bowl that is usually politically chosen. I am sorry I am just venting befor the new year.

Also when is the NCAA going to list what a player can do and not do after scoring a TD. Just make a list of do’s and don’ts. Way too much gray area. Kansas St. got screwed, just like AJ with LSU last year.

Your WHOLE post was uninformed BS or lying BS. I’d like to think you were lying and just not that butt stupid.
Techs athrelete’s don’t have to perform. Nor do they anywhere come close to the academic standards for admission as the rest of the students there. UGA has a better graduation rate over at least the last ten years, look it up, I did.
That “we have smarter boys” BS doesn’t fly. Stanford makes their players perform, and they do well in Football. Not to mention the service academies, (ever here of The Air Force Academy? I think Tech may have recently played them). Joe Paterno doesn’t let his boys slide through, and they are successful year in and year out.
Your whole pathetic attempt at an “argument’ is pathetic. I thought they gave a better education than that at Tech, but judging by YOUR post, I was sadly mistaken……….
Oh, and move out of your mom’s basement. She thinks that at 43 it’s time you got your own place……..

This post made by a Tech alumnus last month deserves to be read again by dawgtards:
Reading all these simple minded and illiterate comments from the THUGA rednecks remind me that I was right to routinely reject any UGA applicant for a job when I was the Personnel Director for a Fortune 500 Company, Naturally being a Tech Grad (IM 1976), I already knew of the educational gaps for THUGA grads and the redneck work ethics they brought to the job. Occasionally I would, against my better judgement, feed one of the poor things into some half-ass entry level job just to see if my opinion of their qualifications, or more than likely unqualifications, and without fail they had either already been fired or quit. The ones that managed to stay provided me daily glimpses of my mistakes.
It was sort of pitiful to seee the poor things come in with their degrees and actually think they were qualified. Frankly a degree from THUGA held about the same weight as Fort Valley State, ABAC, or Clark of Atlanta. Actually I preferred a degree holder from these Institutions of “higher learning” to THUGA as they knew which side of the 8-ball they were on and had better attitudes.
Think about the football team THUGA puts on the field. 96% of the players are academically provisionally accepted, with Adams, Richt, and their cronies knowing full well that they will use up all their coaching and tutors and elligibility and then have their asses kicked out on the street and soon be pushing grocery carts around Atlanta looking for a warm place to sleep. What a pitiful way to run the State’s flagship university. I am going to this week’s game where the Ga THUGS will undoubtedly whip my North Avenue Scholar Athletes once again. Brawn and brainless win out over brains any day of the week when you are talking mayhem on the field. But once again I am hoping that Tech stomps their sorry asses.
And another little reminder of why a crapping mutt is the least of your problems.
In the 1986 Jan Kemp trial, O. Hale Almand Jr., a lawyer for UGA, offered a justification for the favorable treatment accorded the athletes, citing a hypothetical player. “We may not make a university student out of him,” he told the jury, “but if we can teach him to read and write, maybe he can work at the post office rather than as a garbageman when he gets through with his athletic career.”
That trial exposed UGA for the football factory that it was, and exposed Vince Dooley as a fraud and a sleazebag. It also derailed Dooley’s plans for a political career. That’s why we see the decrepit old fraud doing TV commercials even now.
Mark Richt is just the latest in a line of sleazy UGA coaches who coddle athletes and discard them after four years of football. He recruits illiterate morons he knows aren’t smart enough for college, but he doesn’t care, as long as they help him line his pockets with millions of dollars each year.
UGA, perennial winner of the Fulmer/Richt Cup and the infamous Cesspool of the South.

still@thebar – Let’s don’t talk about majors. At Tech how many engineers are on the football team and don’t even mention the basketball team. You talk about a front screen for athletes. Tech is a joke when it comes to making people think their standards are that high. Oh God I said I wouldn’t even get into this again. If you want proof at Senior day next year at Tech listen when they introduce the senior football players, they don’t mention majors. But when they introduce the band they do. What is the difference? I know, they know, everybody knows!
