Georgia has hired Nebraska assistant coach Lizzy Stemke to be its new volleyball coach. Stemke replaces Joel McCartney, who was fired near the end of the 2010 season.
In Stemke’s four years as a Nebraska assistant, the Cornhuskers reached the NCAA tournament four times, won three Big 12 titles and had an overall record of 116-15. An All-American at Wisconsin and a past member of the U.S. national team, Stemke will be running her own college team for the first time. McCartney was 62-55 in four seasons and 29-45 in the SEC.
