Speaking of black jerseys, RB recruiting and ‘best scout-team LB tandem in country’
7:48 pm November 24, 2010, by Tim Tucker
ATHENS – Notes from Mark Richt’s post-practice visit with reporters Wednesday night:
- Georgia practiced in full pads, a change from the original plan to work in shoulder pads and helmets. “We felt like we needed a little more work against the cut-blocking in particular,” Richt said. “We hadn’t done that very well yet, or well enough. And so we wanted to get a little more work at that.” All five of Georgia’s practices for the Tech game have been in full pads.
- The Bulldogs’ plan for Thursday, Richt said, is to “get up real early, have some meetings, practice and be done by 10 a.m.,” so players and coaches can “go eat Thanksgiving dinner.”
- For anyone wondering if the Bulldogs might wear black jerseys for Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech: No, Richt said. “Someone thought we might do that?” he asked. “I don’t think we’ll have a jersey change for a while here.”
- Injury updates: Backup tailback Carlton Thomas (stinger) “did all the scout work today,” Richt said. “We think he’ll be ready.” Cornerback Sanders Commings (ankle) is “practicing. He’s getting there.”
- Richt praised the season-long, practice-field performances of linebackers Jarvis Jones and Richard Samuel, both of whom are being redshirted. “I’d have to say … it’s probably the best scout-team linebacker tandem in the country,” Richt said. “They’re really outstanding talents and have given our guys all they want all year long. . . . In general, I would say the defensive scout team … is the best one in the 10 years I’ve been here.”
- Richt was asked if the disappointing performance of Georgia’s running game accentuates the need to sign a big-time running back in this recruiting season. “I would just say that we sure would love to sign a big-time back this year. How’s that?” replied Richt, choosing his words carefully. “That’s a very big priority for us.” NCAA rules, of course, prevent him from talking about specific recruits.
- Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

I agree with many of the statements of the highly touted rb’s and pass receivers. Especially Ealey. Fumbling, not pass blocking, etc… And not just Ealey is out of shape, even here at the end of the season. I bet he would heave lunch if he ran 4 or 5 40 yard wind sprints. He runs the ball one time and takes himself out of the game. Ol Hershel would never have done that. Softness loses, every time.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
I am thankful college football brings out so much passion in everyone.
I am thankful Murray, Cummings, Thomas and the other question marks will healthy on Saturday.
I am thankful Richt had the boys in full pads all week.
I am thankful for no more black jerseys.
I am thankful that no matter what, we own Tech. (See, 8 out of 9)
And I will be thankful for the 50 we are going to hang on Tech on Saturday. Thereafter I will be amused when all the bugs will be able to say is “we would’a won if Nesbitt played.”
Go Dawgs!
P.S. (And this may be sour grapes, but after the intentional attempts to knock Murray out 2 weeks ago, Roll Tide.)

Would you people please shut the crap up once and for all about our RBs taking themselves out of games. Good grief. Almost every team in America that has more than one back does this. It is far from controversial. You have no idea what you are talking about and need to shut up. Georgia has lots of problems right now but that is not one of them. Please shut up. Thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving.

If you can’t coach ‘em up and get them ready to play an entire game, it doesn’t matter who you recruit. I haven’t seen the Dawgs play a full four quarters since Richt came to Athens. We’ve had more noteworthy performances off the field than on this year. When are they going to end the Chinese water torture?

Dawgfan, you must be a running back telling people to shut up. Poor taste. I will count the times Saturday that a running back takes himself out of the game due to poor conditioning. It would tickle me to see one blow supper too, that would count twice. I have been a dawg fan since 1960, and these backs need lots of work!

Does anyone really think UGA is going to be any better next year? The best players and playmakers are all gone, best rusher is gone, best tackler is gone, and best DB is gone. A backup former QB is returning punts, and you think Samuels and JJ are going to be saviors on Defense?
LeMay is a primadona QB who has a daddy just like Cameron Newton and is sitting out his senior year due to some kind of protest. Yeah that is the kind of players a coach with no confidence needs calling plays.
With opening games against a Boise St. team( which plays nobody all year long) has every opportunity each week to play many many players due to blow outs while UGA only minimally substitutes, then a South Carolina team that yes will lose some big time players has too many weapons returning and with alot of confidence to boot. An 0-2 start is very very likely and the UGA will faithful will be once again calling for Mark Richts head on a Black and Silver Platter.
Just stating the obvious…UGA fans( I am not picking on you) but get used to another 7-5, 6-6 season in 2011…

Considering the number of interviews a head coach (Richt)
must give the media throughout the course of a season, I believe he does very well compared to another head coach
of a school close by. Not calling names. The other guys` statements ramble on and on about trying to find the right button to push, get the players motivated, etc.
Dawg fans should take it easy and be thankful.

Gotta give Grantham a chance to get this 3-4 defense right. we all should have realized that the defense may be suspect the first season with a new coach, Other than the s. caro. game the dawgs scored enough points to win every game that was lost, just need this new defensive scheme to come together and we will be back in the thick of it all and contending. Would like to see richt calling the plays again, he handled it fine when he got here, he could do it now, leave bobo coaching qb’s where he’s comfortable.

If you don’t give a back the ball 25+ times a game, how can he be a great back? Herschel’s are few and far between. You have to let most really good ones warm up by carrying the ball and letting them know they are “the man”. I hate running back by committee. That’s punk!

Look at the game films of QB Murray
November 26th, 2010
8:12 am
If you look at the SC game film, you can see where about 4 of Murray’s passes were either over thrown or behind the back thrown on one Orson Charles ball, at the SC 4. Had two of them been caught we win. He was bad early on about his overthrows. Missed TDs they were all and ended up losing very close games.
On one long pass that was caught vs.SC ………………… receiver Kris Durden had to slow down and grab it. Had it been properly thrown …………….. it would have been a 65 yd bomb. As it turned out, it was just a long first down and w elater kicked a FG.
Murray failed terribly in the Florida game too. He tires very hard but is not the David Green caliber that we hoped for. Aaron Murray is doomed to be another Eric Zeier with EMPTY statndTime will tell. Mark Richt should have been fired in 09 and so, we UGA grads have to endure yet another
miserable recruiting class, that will lead into another sorry, miserable season for 2011.
AD McGarity knows the UGA faithful and the alum are very, very divided at best. He does not want to have to atttned alumni gatherings with negative questions cropping up one half of the time.
UGA wins big over GT ………………47-26

Murray is like any other QB that lacks experience coming in. He has made some throws that show just how much talent he has. Then he has missed some that looked mighty easy. Green was alot like that. I feel Murray can be just as good as Green. Green was a winner and I feel Murray is too.

I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?
As disgraceful and humiliating as it is, I don’t see many alums and fans demanding an end to this sordid activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school most people abhor, and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.
Will it never end? Apparently not while Mark Richt is at UGA. Richt is perhaps the biggest hypocrite in the United States. But even with all the cheating and lawlessness that he ignores, he still can’t win the SEC.
So you’re paying him to be BCS champions, but he can’t even win his SEC division. So why do you pay him millions of dollars a year?
Just asking.

Bobo does not know how to call a game. He would be a great coordinator for flag football. But he don’t have a clue how to use a running back. He don’t know how to use a qb either. Remember when he said over and over last year how he was going to design plays to sprint out Logan Gray. Logan played qb but was never sprint out in order to take advantage of his abilities.
Bobo don’t have a clue how to coordinate.
