ATHENS – Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, held out of practice last week because of a bruised sternum suffered against Auburn, practiced without problem for the second day in a row Tuesday and appears set to start against Georgia Tech.
“I haven’t had any pain in two days,” Murray said Tuesday night. “I feel great throwing the ball. . . . I think I’m ready to play Saturday.”
Earlier Tuesday, coach Mark Richt said: “I think he is going to play.”
Murray, who also suffered a bruised knee and a cut chin against Auburn, said the bruised sternum –- the most significant of the three injuries — occurred early in the game. “I played the majority of the game with it, so . . . I feel like I can play through it if it re-aggravates,” he said.
Murray said he never doubted that he would play against Tech.
“I don’t care if I had a broken leg, I’m going to play in this game,” he said.

Lemay will bring in some of the best recruits in the country because they want to win a National Championship, and this guy will get it done.
So, yes, 2010 with Murray was a disaster, but hold on Georgia,
Christian Lemay
is on the way
to save the day
for UGA.

Really, Georgia’s only shot at a win against Georgia Tech is if the defense forces 3 or 4 to’s, and that will be hard to do, Tech protects the ball pretty well, and doesn’t pass much. I don’t think the defense will be able to bail Murray’s ineptness out this time.

I don’t think the reputed interest elsewhere has any bearing. Richt would be in very high demand any year he chooses to be.
As far as coaching changes: Hard to predict. Lower level position coaches are always coming and going. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of that. I absolutely think there is going to be some revamping of who does what and how. Some combination of symbolic and functional. I do not think Bobo get fired though.
Personally, I think our issues have a lot more to do with recruiting, than play calling. My gut feeling is that they believe they are looking at a couple of really good classes coming up, and reluctant to make major changes right after the Huge shackup in the defensive staff last year. Still a year or more likely two, before that is settled in.
Optimistic, blind, whatever. I just do not see McGarity walking out of those Friday meetings with his hair on fire.

Agree. if UGA had 21 other starters with Murray’s heart and want to, we’d be tough. Offense did cost us some games this year. However, we haven’t played good defense since 2005. We won’t win many big games without luck until we start playing real D. watch the replay of the FL game or Auburn. Once the other team figured us out we didn’t stand a chance to stop them. We score to tie FL and on FL’s next drive it’s obvious we can’t stop them. I was at the game. Didn’t feel so pathetic about defense til watching the replay. 4th quarter they did what they wanted. Pitiful D. Part of our problem is also that CMR has gone so conservative. Who didn’t think when we kick FG against Auburn that it was basically over?

Guess there is solace in knowing we weren’t blown out this year. We spit the bit in almost every big game, either the O turning it over or the D can’t stop anyone. Look at our losses to FL since Richt’s been here. Everyone we have more turnovers. For whatever reason we can’t avoid the TO’s. I think Richt is too conservative. get up 14 on any team and he tries to be nice. Next thing you know it’s a game again. Today’s college football, up 14 means nothing. CMR is out coach. He can turn it around if he changes his attitude. Be nice AFTER the game. Say sorry coach you couldn’t stop us.

Murray has proven to be a good QB and I have no doubt that he’s going to be a beast in the future! Glad he’s up and throwing again! Even as a Tech fan, I can appreciate this kids ability and heart! I hope our defense can come up with an answer for him! I’m lookin’ forward to a, hopefully, great game on Saturday!

Marcus- another thing, Ealey has been good whenever he’s played, he has had some supsensions. Then there have been some games where UGA seems to abandon the run. That’s something they have been known to do. King & Ealey had really good avg. yds. per carry against AU, but they rarely even gave those guys the ball. You’re talking about how Murray should’ve doen more w/ the talent that’s around him, but the offensive players you’ve mentioned have often not even been there for him to utilize. The defensive side of the ball is where they’re lacking the star power.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why Tech fans think GT is superior…lamo.
As for A. Murray…love the conviction and drive and even more heart than Staffford, when it comes to UGA rivalries/big games…..Pretty sure he’ll be starting next year(i know it won’t be Mason)

I think Murray has a great arm. I like to watch him stay in the pocket and throw bullets. Given he makes mistakes
as a redshirt freshman and stays in the pocket too long sometimes, he will improve. I think he is classic and cool.
I wish GT had a QB who could throw like Murray.

Watch this game on Friday if you wish to see a Dawg Recruit at QB and DB. What highlights will you see from Lemay this year? Giving someone the starting job at QB before they enroll at UGA may be one of the problems at UGa?

GA O Line has not played well. They are not physical enough, the running backs have sucked most of the time, Defense is not physical enough, getting beat up and pushed around. Aaron Murray has played better then the rest of the team. He has one receiver to throw to for what 4 or 5 games. If AJ hadn’t done his stupid bit we would have a lot better record. Bottom line our kids are not big and fast as the reset of the SEC. So Marcus to blame the losing on AM shows how much you know about football. And you probable think Obama is the greatest president ever.

Just a thought! When was the last time a GA running back fumbled the ball? When was the last time a GA QB threw an interception???? Why are the running backs benched for fumbling the ball or missing blocks and the QB is not changed for his mistakes? The OL are changed in and out each week because of their effectiveness or lack thereof. I know you do not bench the qb for his mistakes but what is our fumble to interception ratio? Do we have more fumbles than interceptions? Quick scoring and the lack of using the running game helps put pressure on the defense especially when the other team controls the clock on the ground or by mixing it up in the play calling…i.e. UF and UA games!!! Yes we caught up or kept up…But we never controlled the clock nor did we give the defense a break. What is our time of possession compared with our opponents this year?

Once again….PRAY HARD that Fairley somehow, someway blows a knee out thus ending the thugs career in football……nothing could be finer for the Barn and their classless fans….the NCAA should add the icing on the cake for this piece of crap coaches and team. Disgusting that a head coach in college football would actually condone it all….but then again, we are talking about “da barn

Marcus??? Really?? I am an avid follower of the bulldogs, you are absolutly insane if you think any of the other qb’s are better than Murray. In what way do you think that Gray beat out Murray in the spring? Gray is a horrible QB! But I guess you are a tech fan. Gray would be a great QB by there standards, so I do get where you are coming from!

I am a tech fan through and through and I can admit we are having a terrible year probably due to the fact we lost our 2 best O and D players to the NFL but you mutts cant face the fact that you are just as terrible with a worse record and returned your whole offense…you have been a joke for 2 years straight so get over yourself its not a OFF YEAR, you suck too

Murray has more pro potential than any freshman (r/s) QB I have seen at UGA in 30 years. We need to continue focusing on blocking and establishing the running game before letting him loose with his tremendous arm. We need to get more speed on defense and defend better against the mid to long passes.

I dont agree with Marcus at all. But I also do not think it is accurate to say the Logan Gray is an awful QB. The kid barely got a chance. I dont feel that to this day we have ever utilized this kid right. We should run wildcat with him occasionally but let him THROW out of it. The Wildcat never worked here because everyone on the D knew that when Gray came in, he would run the ball.

That being said, Murray is the man!! Hopefully he will be a 4 year starter but I doubt it. His height may be a saving grace for us. That may keep him from going to the draft his junior year. I would NEVER have redshirt this kid. Redshirts are a thing of the past for marquee players.

Just read this and caught up with the posts. The AJC message boards attract some moronic posters but I have to say that Marcus is gunning for most moronic — what a buffoon. I seriously doubt he watched Georgia at all. He’s just stirring the pot.
