QB Murray returns to practice; throws ball ‘extremely well,’ Richt says

(Updated 8:45 p.m.)

As Georgia’s football team resumed preparations Monday for its regular-season finale against Georgia Tech, quarterback Aaron Murray returned to the practice field for the first time since suffering knee and sternum injuries against Auburn.

Coach Mark Richt said on his radio call-in show Monday night that Murray threw the ball “extremely well,” although Richt cautioned that practice conditions are quite different from game conditions for Georgia quarterbacks.

“Aaron is doing well,” Richt said. “He got to practice today. He went through the whole thing. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s ready to play [under game conditions]. But because we don’t hit our quarterbacks in practice, he was able to do everything we asked him to do. I’m not sure how he would have handled getting hit and tackled to the ground and having the full weight of one or two guys land on him. I don’t know how he’d do in that situation right now.

“But he does feel a lot better. He threw the ball extremely well. If he keeps getting better — like he said today, ‘Coach, I got five more days.’ I hope by the end of the week he’ll feel good enough to go.”

The Georgia-Georgia Tech game kicks off at 7:45 p.m. Saturday in Sanford Stadium.

Murray “wants to play, there’s no doubt about that,” Richt said.

The redshirt freshman quarterback suffered a bruised sternum and a bruised knee in the Bulldogs’ Nov. 13 loss at Auburn. He was held out of practice last week, when Georgia had an open date.

“[Murray] looked pretty good,” tailback Washaun Ealey said after Monday’s practice. “He came out a little edgy today, but he got all that worked out. He looked good toward the end of practice. You could tell he was real banged up, but he’s fighting through it. He’s a tough competitor. He knows we’re all counting on him to come through, so he’s out there trying to grind every day to get the job done.”

Ealey added: “I’m pretty sure he’ll play Saturday.”

i think with Murray coming out of a big time high school like Plant, everybody thought he’d be able to handle pressure.

Wrong!

Pass compeltion goes down when it counts:
3rd down 86th in country
4th qrtr 83rd
red zone 76th

The kid just turned out to be Choke City.

With the #1 most experienced O-Line, how do you lose 6 games?

If you have multiple, MULTIPLE posts on a blog of any kind you need something better to occupy your time. Maybe you should go ‘tame your dragon’; it is obvious you are alone in the house and in dire need of female company.

Blogs this time of year are always entertaining. I read time after time how we have no chance (the last few years your big weapon has been the mighty wishbone-the offensive choice of many high schools and lower level colleges) and yet we have won eight of nine.

Typically we win 7-8 games every decade against Tech. Winning this game is like good hygeine. It is not something you brag about when you do but it is something you are ashamed of when you don’t.

I am looking forward to the Dawgs winning on Saturday and me getting to smoke that victory black wang. Nothing quite has the smell of victory like my black boyfriend after he has just run home from the Red & Black with a fresh 40 in his hand.

Typical Tech tailgate…A cooler full of iced down Zima, chicken salad sandwiches, and Rock and Roll Pt. 2 by Gary Glitter being played on repeat out the open window of their Prius.

It’s Thanksgiving, lets talk Turkey: Both teams combined are 11-11 and both are MAJOR Disappointments. For ONCE we should all be standing in a bar somewhere buying each other drinks and screaming at the TV, not at one another. Whoever wins on Saturday (someone DOES have to win, don’t they??) will use it to jumpstart next year; whoever loses…. will use it to jumpstart next year…. We’re all in the same (leaky) boat…. Can’t we just get along?

really, throwing to AJ Green, 2 great running backs, 2 great tight ends, with the #1 most experienced O-Line in the nation blocking for you, and 5-6 as a starting QB at Georgia, it’s hard to fathom.

I guess Murray thought, with his #3 QB ranking coming out of high school, he could just show up, and start winning games.

Not so much.

Looks like Murray will be ANOTHER one of those OVER-RATED High School phenoms, who never go on to do squat in college except lose a bunch of games.

Wonder what Murray’s ex-teammate TE Charles must be thinking? I mean, Charles had more balls thrown to him form Joe Cox last year than his high school teammate.

Mar Richt put hsi whole future in the hands of Aaron Murray. Why? Because he was ranked high in high school? Because he’s a good person? Ok, true. But he chokes when it counts. So bad choice Richt.

Murray, as a rusher, very mobile, right?

W-R-O-N-G!

-4 yards against AUburn.

Averages 15 yards rushing per game.

Averages 2 yards per rush against winning teams, 10 yards per rush against teams with losing records.

Poor Washaun Ealey.

Ealey averages more yards per carry than Lattimore, and is better in the 4th qaurter than Lattimore, but Murray likes to run the ball mroe than hand it to playmaker Ealey.

Murray is extremely accurate on 1st & 2nd down. He’s also good on his own 20-40 yard line. He excels in the 2nd quarter accuracy wise. Murray was extremely accurate against Idaho State, as well as powerhouse Louisiana Lafayette.
